    Thank you very much my friend!!!
    I have the same exact projector... I waited for the lamp to fully finish then ordered new one... The new one lasted for 70 hours before some crazy noise and God awful red flickering happens every time I turn it on which then the projector shuts it self down.
    I watched your video and decided that ain't bad idea to spend 30 dollars and try replacing the color wheel. I read in many forums that Optoma projectors are notorious for thier color wheels.
    Again, thank you very much man. You are a life saver.

    Bro I have the same projector and my bulb exploded two years ago. I replaced it using your video. Now today the color went out and I searched google and this video was the first to come up. Second I hear your voice I was ecstatic haha took it apart (color wheel shattered). Thank man for the help! A legend and Savoir!

    duuuuuuuuude......this video saved my projector! thanks for posting, guys like you are invaluable...it was fluttering like crazy and i cleaned the wheel (did not look dirty at all) and its like new again, use this everyday 12 hrs for work for 2 years now...crazy how the wheel is really embedded in there, not so easy to user service a part that will most definitely need it, they should have made it easy like the bulb....you are a hero, inspiring me to post things like this to give back to the community...( i do post guitar lessons so thats a start) ....right on!!!!!!!!!!!

    Thanks dude. I had to change the color wheel of my Optoma GT1080 which inside is almost the same as yours. So your video was a great guide.

      So far so good. Had a little flashing but apparently it was due to a new bulb and has since gone away. You got me a new projector for $30 that otherwise would have been trashed. Wasn't worth shipping to a repair shop and all the fees. Thanks again.

    Thanks for this video!
    My HD141X is flickering and the red color isn't coming through well after 2 years. I just replaced the bulb after 3,400 hours but the issue persists.
    I was able to take the projector apart and clean the color wheel a bit. I ended up removing both of the weird-angled screws, it seems like they're just there to make the replacement difficult. A new color wheel is on the way.

      Hey Ben, did replacing your color wheel fix your problem? I'm having the exact same issue right now. I was just wondering before I go out and get a new wheel.

    • @bbooker5
      @bbooker5 6 років тому

      YES, the replacement color wheel made a massive difference. No flickering, and all of the colors are so much more brilliant. Everything is brighter now. I got the color wheel from ebay for $30 from China.
      I received the replacement a few weeks ago but didn't install it until today. Thanks for the reminder.
      The ebay listing specifically said the replacement color wheel was for the HD141X. You can definitely do this, just take your time, and good luck!

    Do you have the "deep black" on? Try switching it off and see if it still flicks. As the deep black evaluate the luminosity of the image to change the contrast and light buld intensity, I've found that sometimes it can't decide what level to set, and keeps jumping back and forward, causing the flickering.
    In my HD141X when the flickering starts, I switch deep black off, and after a few seconds, I switch it back on again... and that makes it stop!
    anyhow, thanks for the video!!! My color wheel had this loud "grinding" noise which was making me insane! Thanks to your video I replaced it and now the projector is silent as it never has being before!!! Thank you so much!!!

    Thanks for this! I have the same model, and it is making a constant buzzing noise. Initially I thought it was the fan, but I've read that it's common for the color wheel bearing to go bad and buzz. I have a wheel on order and will use this video for reference when replacing.

    It might have also been a bit of glass reflecting extra light onto random parts of the colour wheel.
    Anyway, thank you for this video! Mine flickers sometimes (gets real bad when it does) and also either the colour wheel or the fan are so god damn loud! Like a deep grinding type of loudness which if I turn the projector off and back on within a few hours, is 1000x louder lol
    Gonna watch this again later when I take it apart to clean and hope that sorts at least the noise issues out :)
    Note: my og bulb is nearing 8k hours, 95% used on bright instead of eco so that could also be my flickering issue 😂

    Thanks for this video. The picture quality on my Optoma HD142x has degraded, and after replacing the lamp, its still not back to its full glory. Not sure if the colour wheel is the issue, but will continue to investigate.

    Hi, While replacing my color wheel i seem to have broken the clip for the ribbon cable any idea how i would go about finding a replacement part or fixing it myself. I have no idea where the bit of plastic has gone so would either need a repair with a new one i could buy or alternate items. Any help would be great thank you.

    Great video thanks, it helped a lot. My colour wheel was rubbing the rubber strip under the wheel. I am getting colour banding and reds look more orange. Do I need a new colour wheel or is there a way to sync the wheel via a hidden menu??? Cheers and Happy New Year

      Maybe Was A Bad Color Wheel

    • @brianh6465
      @brianh6465 4 роки тому

      I just did the repair from the video and experienced the same darkened band across the top of my screen. I don't know if this is THE fix, but it worked for me.
      The two screws at a diagonal, one of which was removed in this video, seem to balance out a reflector. I over tightened the screw after I replaced the color wheel and got the bar. After loosening it, purely out of luck, the bar shrunk. After the next attempt at loosening slightly, the bar was just a freckle of darkness in the corner. Instead of pushing my luck, I restored all of the screws and called it a day.
      I hope this is useful to someone down the line.

      @@brianh6465 it was definitely useful for me today so thanks Brian! As loose as it can be, it remains dark in the corner... Did you manage to have it completely gone?

    I have the benq tk800 and it has started to rattle during certain display/scenes. From what I can tell this is the colour wheel. Image seems to be displayed perfectly fine but the excess noise coming out of the projector is doing my head in. Product is less than 2 years old. Should I get my hands dirty or send it back to benq?

    Mine will run great for 5 minutes and then start flickering and shut off giving me 2 red dots. Do you think my color wheel is going out or another issue. The odd thing is if my projector isn’t upside down the issue never happens
