Honestly though! I was fine with creepover’s lack of advertising cuz “it’s their second line, I’m sure they’ll get better about it” AND NOW SKULLTIMATES AND THERE’S ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Like, what. No release date, and now second wave was leaked without the first even being properly out!

I mean here in europe, the dolls didn’t really release in stores. Like there are like 2 online stores that have them but nothing else. Like I haven’t seen them in toy stores. Bigger supermarkets, NOWHERE. I think only the OG fans know they even exist here and it’s problematic

I genuinely think Mattel's been having some distribution issues. I remember being into cave club back when that was still a thing, and I rarely ever saw them in stores, and some of the playsets were just kinda on permanent preorder, not to mention I don't think I've seen enchantimals in stores since toys r us closed. It seems as if barbie is their only "girls" line that's gotten proper shelf space and regular releases
Yes, and interestingly enough, at least where I live no one buys Barbie. You would think Mattel would see that and put more effort into making sure monster high is distributed better because it’s Way more popular than Barbie.
where i am, the barbie releases have been really weird, especially with the extras. there are dolls that i thought came out 6+ months ago that i'm only just seeing now
i see enchantimals dolls all the time where i live, mostly in convenience stores in some hidden corner. monster high practically doesn't exist anymore in my country. as for barbie dolls, i've seen a few newer ones in big stores, but for the rest they're all old releases that no one buys. LOL and rainbow high dolls shelves are almost always empty tho (at least here lol)

I'm really optimistic about G3 so far in theory but the weird distribution and lack of promotion is worrying me. I live in the Netherlands and they've only released wave 1 at One (1) toystore and everyone (except Frankie and Lagoona) are nearly sold out everywhere and have been for a while
Same for here in Australia. All these new lines have been 'released' , but you can only find wave 1 in decent stock recently. Which is bizarre cause other lines like LOL OMG and Rainbow High are pretty regular.

@@aidamou Can confirm, my local Kmart has only just got the MH car. G3 was also practically non-existent everywhere for two months after release (my friend got me Frankie as a late Christmas present and they were only available in fucking Queensland), I don't remember G1 being this awful with distribution and stock.
Same, I live in Mexico and in my city I can only find Draculaura in her pajamas. Maybe in CDMX they sell more of them but in almost all the states they're basically non-existent.

I hope they do more goth fashion in the future, but I'm actually really impressed with the updated bodies. The "scary skinny" previous iterations were a big stumbling block for me personally.
That said, you're absolutely right, they should give Cleo and Clawdeen more variety in hairstyles/textures.

i REALLY need them to give a release schedule. weve gotten photos of so MANY lines at this point and i have such anxiety that im going to miss a release because i couldnt find it on whatever obscure website it pops up on. How do so many people have skulltimate secrets series 1?? i havent been able to find it anywhere at all, not even the normal places like entertainment earth and big bad toy store. the release of creeproduction has seriously made it so hard to not be wary of missing a doll and then having to pay triple-quadruple the price if you really want it.

I still have yet to watch the show, but Mattel has been absolutely KILLING it with their most recent G3 releases (especially Abbey Bominable and Skulltimate Secrets 2 Frankie)! The only doll that I've been wanting more from lately has been Clawdeen, but that Monster Ball look now has me dying to get my claws on her. Those shoulder pads are big enough to be ghouls of their own!
Not gonna lie, Clawdeen's first doll had me a little worried for her, but I think they really found her rhythm with these latest ones!

Honestly I really like them! It bugs me how some people are so aggravated over how different they are from G1, like do you even understand what ‘reboot’ means, and though I miss their gothic flair I will be buying a couple I think-
I have no idea how to find these dolls here in my country (Brazil) but I really want the Cléo, Lagoona and Frenkie dolls! I really like their dolls! so stylish and beautiful! I love lagoona so much as a doll and so much as a character in G3! she is just so cute!!🥺💜
Reboot doesn’t always mean “not even a little abit like the original” you can make a reboot with only small changes , besides some of the changes they made in g3 just aren’t good we don’t have to accept it just cause it’s a reboot

i used to be pretty indifferent towards lack of diversity with dolls bc well i was like 12 but when i got gen 3 drac i was so happy to see that she has a similar body type to me… i also like the abbey has a more specific ethnicity rather than vaguely from the himalayas by giving her a mountain that she’s from and seeing her mother wear a fluffy sari. i hope they do cultural origin inspired outfits for the gen 3 dolls tbh, so much potential. i saw the first gen 2 abbey doll the other day and it was probably meant to be representative of her family but it was a mix of a bunch of racist stereotypes tbh but i can see better from gen 3. i rlly hope gen 3 stays afloat for a long time and i saw that a lot of the fans are worried abt lack of promotion 😭

I really like them! Their faces took a little getting used to, but they’re cute. The initial artwork, though. Especially Clawdeen’s…criminal. Dreadful. Horrendous. Ghastly. That artwork is my personal enemy, and I am on a never ending journey to find its origins then obliterate it.

The artwork changed! Skullimate secrets has a different and much better artwork then the initial dolls.
The artwork from the basics and budget dolls comes from the original concept art, but it was "edited" (traced) to create the final art. Anna Cattish created said concept art, and even addresses what happened.
They broke my heart with their Torali changes, she use to be our deliquent representation now she's just another mean rich girl 😭

my biggest disappointment with g3 has been what they have done to Ghoulia.
She has always been a personal favourite, but i genuinely do not like neither her new design or personality :/. On top of that, the fact she's a Target exclusive makes it so it's basically impossible for me to actually buy her at a fair price where i live.
She has always had very few dolls, compared to the other girls, but the fact she so far has only gotten the basic set is very sad.
I hate store exclusives. It's not fair to so many people.

Basically agree with everything you've said and I'd also like to add how weirdly random it seems like they're releasing the dolls outside of the US... I think in Europe the Netherlands and the UK already have the dolls in stores but so far nothing anywhere else :/

You pretty much said it. My biggest issue is just finding the dolls. I still haven't found the creeproductions or budget dolls. Some people have posted the skulltimate dolls but they aren't widely available yet it seems. For me, I think collecting is fun but the way mh recent releases have been it takes a bit of the joy out of it 😞. Great video as usual! ❤️

My favorite line is definitely Skulltimate Secrets wave 2 purely out of bias bc I love pastels but also I really love Abbey I honestly like her better than G1 (not saying she's objectively better she just panders to my taste lmao) and she's definitely my favorite doll we've gotten. I also can't wait to see the Skelita doll based on the concept art they showed. Considering how similarly Abbey's doll and her concept art look, Skelita is on her way to be my favorite G3 design but we'll have to wait until we see her doll. G3 has me very excited and I can't wait to see what more they do with MH's other characters
Going off the hair point I wish they would give clawdeen Saran and give her a doll that has her old brown hair with purple streaks

I’m so glad they’re slowly creeping into giving Clawdeen her darker brown hair back. The majority silver and cream streaks just made her look faded and washed out and was the only criticism I had for most of her dolls
I LOVE Abbey’s outfit but her makeup looks wayyy too loud and vibrant to me. Her nose especially. Clawd’s eyes look weirdly shaped to me and I really hope it gets fixed when they’re released because I really like his overall design. I’m definitely buying both though
It's really odd that they pushed this so hard with us, the older fans, but don't push it further. Mattel can't rely on fans and influencers to push this new line.
Also things are dropping slower overseas than they are in the US. It's crazy seeing US fans still saying they can't find things. I almost feel lucky in Australia compared to the rest of the world. Checking every day to see if I can finally get the Cleo I want.
The dolls themselves are mostly a hit, as you've noted, but there are so many. For instance, I'm waiting for Day Out or Monster Ball Clawdeen before I go for more.

I am not at all involved with this community but watching your videos make my day better. I now also have incredibly strong opinions about how Mattel is marketing Monster High.
I can completely understand the lack of distribution thing since I worked at Walmart around the time these dolls released and anytime I was working back in our stores toy section it was scarce. The doll aisle was split down the middle between one side, mostly Mattel doll brands. And the other side, mostly MGA doll brands. The MH dolls we’re in one tiny section on the shelf surrounded by ocean of Barbies and for a solid month we had zero Frankies or Draculauras. Then one day we got a restock and then we had too many Draculauras and then the dolls all just kind of shelf warmed for a month until creep over party came out. This all might just be that Walmart is infamous for being chronically late to any new waves of toys, even one’s exclusive to their store, but it still isn’t great for the distribution of a new line of fashion dolls when new Barbie releases are stocked almost instantly
Honestly G3 has been pretty strong overall. I would only ask for a slight bump increase on the quality of the accessories, but overall I have hopes for this line.
My biggest problem is the distribution. They never seemed to be stocked when they say they are and they drop dolls randomly. It's like a frantic chase. I'm glad you addressed this issue because it's seriously discouraging sometimes.
i have something i want to say about the tv show since you mentioned it so for anyone reading this...
MASSIVE TV SHOW SPOILER WARNING:
ngl, Clawdeen in this version reminds me a bit of Luz from the owl house, mostly with her pre-existing interest in monster lore like how Luz was into fantasy stuff before going to the boiling isles, and also how they both got excited when they found out it was real, the fact that in their previous life expericences they didn't make friends easy and were misunderstood, having a single parent, being close with that single parent, and having a close friend group in the new world, and going to school in the new world.
if they have more character development for Clawdeen i can kind of see them going in somewhat similar directions, maybe they could show more flashbacks so we can see what life was like before finding out she was a werewolf.
i can also already see the story going in a "breaking the fantasy" direction aswell, just a bit lighter and toned down because of the fact it's blatantly for kids but its possible to still go that direction.
i also want to see how the "monster council"/leaders of each monster group rules/leads their factions aswell, we already know dracula is very "tradional" or conservative and considering how toralei in this version is said to be conservative and her mom is the current "wereruler" (ruler of all lycanthropes/werebeast is what im guessing that means) i am wondering what she is like. and considering it's highly likely she is responsible for the dissapearance of clawdeen's mom i wouldnt be surprised if she is at least somewhat evil.
Loving G3 and I hope it thrives! I just wish they did more styles with Clawdeen's hair and glasses (seriously what's the point of giving her glasses and then never putting it on her dolls after the first one?). Also I avoid slandering G3 just because it's different but I'm so disappointed in Ghoulia personally and she hasn't gotten other dolls that could fix my feelings towards her. I do like the tomboy idea for her though
EXACTLY!! I’m glad someone else thinks this MY GOD I need more Ghoulias! She had such a cute base doll in g3 and they just never revisited her. Kind of same with the other non-main lineup ghouls like Toralei and Twyla. Like yeah Toralei got a doll in the Ghoul Spirit bundle and Twyla was released a lot more recently but I just want more releases that do new looks for the other ghouls. Show them some love

G3 as a brand worldwide is doing pretty well! I was missing Clawdeen from the international line (budget dolls) and in my local Walmart they where absolutely gone! I bet not only Clawdeen, but Draculaura and Frankie. They are getting popular and hitting the right target audience for other countries.
I just hope they bring the main line of dolls internationally, since those are quite expensive and not available at all stores from what I've seen.

I am with you on the lack of advertising and where to find budget dolls. I happened upon the first budget Draculaura at Books-a-Million and snatched her up. At the register, the woman ringing me up was like, "Wait, we have Monster High?" and she and another colleague went to go to the kids' section to grab the other two that were back there. I still haven't seen Clawdeen or Frankie, despite checking my Macy's TRU sections every time I go.
For me, every doll has been a hit so far. I'm excited for the new characters and new lines. I'd love characters like Ghoulia and Twyla to have a second doll, but I'm sure they're coming down the line.
The little bits of the animated series I've seen are so fun! I'm hoping once the first set of episodes commissioned finishes airing on Nick, they'll put them all on Paramount+, since I subscribed initially for the purpose of watching the live-action movie (and have done so at least half a dozen times). I've always been a fan of animation, and that it's aimed at kids doesn't bother me at all. I enjoy the escapism and the creativity. (Though my favorite doll-based cartoon will always be Life in the Dreamhouse, I think). I'm also super-excited for the next live-action movie - I think the actors did a wonderful job bringing the franchise to life (or unlife), and while it's cheesy, it's a very good cheesy. Like you were saying earlier about the animated series, it's cozy.
My feelings have improved on the doll line (no opinion on any of the other media, haven't watched, other than that I wished the Toralei doll's hair and Abbey doll's body type more closely matched the show version.). The more that are released, the more they remind me of G1 in places but still feel distinct. Particularly the face screenings are starting to feel more like MH, and I enjoy seeing nods to G1 like the designs for the upcoming Monster Ball dolls (I didn't really think 80s, I thought Dawn of the Dance and Sweet 1600. To me MH in every line is always playing around with/appreciating fashion from any era and isn't concerned about being overly current or trendy and that is much more my approach to fashion so I dig it). Lagoona was my favorite from G1 but she's probably consistently my least favorite in G3, while Draculaura never interested me before yet her G3 releases have been the ones I want the most. I've come to like that, that helps make me think of the lines as two very distinct things. I don't understand why their accessories are constantly food though? But they are still more cute and clever than the same-y accessories RH come with.
I hadn't realized they weren't really promoting these but that was an interesting point. I don't actually own any but I think I am still waiting on one my dad got for me a month ago via amazon, which now I am worried I am going to be waiting even longer.

Same! They have some in Finland now, but I don't think we'll be getting the newer sets in months... Not that I'm not willing to wait, this way i can't buy them all at once and loose all my money
i was never into g1 monster high as a kid (i was much more into traditionally "girly" dolls, mainly barbie and polly pocket), but as an adult buying g3 completely separate from the nostalgia of g1, i really like the dolls we've seen so far! i definitely agree that each doll noticeably has their own specific style overarching across their different releases, which is so creative and something i really enjoy. what really got me into the current generation of monster high, though, was the amount of diversity. i had no intentions of buying any of the dolls, but when the first draculaura doll got leaked and i saw she was curvy, i instantly knew i had to buy her because i'd NEVER seen a fashion doll that looked like me before. and then i said she was gonna be my only doll, but when twyla was released and i found out she canonically has autism i had to have her lol. i hope g3 lasts despite all the marketing/distribution issues they've been having, because i'm really looking forward to what else they might do in the future based on what we've seen so far!!

The designs really grew on me, and all of the new dolls like Abbey, Jinafire look so good. I only have Draculaura but hoping to get more, but its hard to find them except for the biggest mall where I live and amazon. I think if they push advertising more, they'll be more comfortable putting out more dolls in stores.
man, g3 is honestly one of my favorite reboots of anything. i've yet to actually purchase any dolls yet because while i love them, dolls aren't something i actively collect. since my display space is limited i've been waiting for some flashier dolls to come out, something that itches my brain the way that a line like sweet screams or ghouls rule does. i'm happy to say that abbey, monster ball, and the second skulltimate secrets line are serving dolls that i plan to get and giving me hope for some stunning looks in the future. you're so right about the tv show too, i checked it out and had so much fun. i do think mattel absolutely needs to work on communication and distribution. as someone who is a fan of this franchise but doesn't know the ins and outs of doll buying, i have no idea what dolls have actually released or when new dolls will release. my local stores have the core line and creepover party, but i have no idea if this is the typical stocking across the us or if other places have more or less variety. i can't help but think that while i can seek out information about current and future releases with a bit of digging, i'm not sure if every parent or kid would be able to do the same.

Goreganizer is honestly my favorite Draculaura that's been released!! soo cute and something I'd love to wear. Definitely agree with you though that she needs more variety in makeup and her signature twintails back!

i love monster ball clawdeen so much i felt like i was gonna black out when i first saw her. really really love how the entire monster ball line seems to be sorta paying homage to the g1 sweet 1600 line, which was already one of my favs. im definitely more excited about the dolls (especially recently) than the show, but i think it has its moments too!
btw always love seeing youve put out a new mh video. i have such a big love of the franchise but i feel like a lot of the coverage of g3 ive seen has been completely negative or at least (imo) overly critical. im choosing to believe its the algorithm and its love of negativity and outrage because personally ive rly been enjoying this gen. anyway. i always enjoy hearing your perspective.
G3 is decent to me. I do think they're improving as they go along but sometimes the colour palette choices/clashing patterns don't look great to me. Still, it'll be interesting to see how it keeps progressing!
I agree with what you've said so far! Mattel really needs to get it together when it comes to marketing the dolls and keeping communication clear about releases! I see so many people that have gotten dolls from lines that havent been released yet, and I just wanna know when I can get them!
As for the dolls, I adore g3, genuinely! Draculaura and Cleo in this gen are so amazing! I have not been disappointed by any of their designs. The first g3 doll I got is Goreganizer Draculaura, and I agree about the price but she is one of my favorite. She is incredibly cute! I also see that they are getting more creative with every new line and I think they are improving with Clawdeen! Lagoona have been the character Ive liked the least so far, I dont know what it is. Abbey is my favorite Monster High character, and I am super happy with her design! As for Frankie, some of their dolls I really like, some are just nice. It could be, as you said, that I am missing more variety in hairstyles.
Regardless, i cant wait for the new dolls!
i love love love what i've seen on g3, the designers have been doing such a fantastic job with being fun and campy and exciting and ahhh it just makes me so happy to see mh embracing a new generation. the things that you brought up with how mattel is barely advertising them and the launches being really weird and uncoordinated do make me nervous because i don't want to see so much talent and fun thrown away because a bunch of executives just don't care. like i still go to target before/after work to see if they have skulltimate secrets yet, and my local walmart doesn't even carry mh!!

I heavily collected G1 MH dolls back when they were being released, and then stopped when the quality dropped off. It took me months to find out G3 existed at all! And now I'm having so much trouble finding them on shelves at all (I'm in Europe). You're right, advertising and distribution have been lacking.
It makes me sad, because I adore Monster High. No other doll line reaches their heights, for me. I hope the company will get it together and make them a global phenomenon again :)

So now that we’re into a good swing of G3 I think I can say that they’re definitely living up to the potential that I saw in them.
My favorites have been pretty much every Frankie and Cleo we’ve seen.
As for my least favorite I’m gonna have to say the signature Clawdeen.
Also Mattel not promoting G3 is sp weird to me given how it’s supposed to be a new venture of theirs and Monster High itself is probably their second biggest doll brand.
I think it’s going pretty good. Some misses a lot of hits, and thing’s keep looking up. A few more things have to be ironed out but I’m optimistic.A few months ago I was at target and a little girl and her mom were looking down the doll aisle. I pointed them out and the girl freaked out. She was so excited looking at all the dolls and the play sets. Her mom was also interested and pointed out the coffin bean. It was so cute.
Part of it is the leaks, and part of it is Mattel’s absolute silence.
I just want to try and buy the dolls I like but I don’t want to feel stressed trying to find dolls.
It’s really annoying like you said that Rainbow High gets their releases out and like… where is the monster high stuff? Mattel has distribution, they just don’t seem to use it.
The promotions is so odd. I got my Twyla Creepover doll in December from Target, and then they only promoted them 6 days ago. Maybe it has to do with when it’s widely available, but I feel like that’s just also dumb to only post that way.
Tbh their promotion is bad with the g1 line too, they keeper promoting dolls that have been sold out and no one can get, giving them to influencers for free when again no one could get them, even with the recent hunt countre they couldn’t bother to put a photo of Frankie in good condition, her thighs have a tear in it

Your critique is absolutely on-point. I have to add, though, that one of Mattel's issues over the past decade is that the designers don't know fashion, so a lot of Barbies look like they're dressed from the 1980s and now we're seeing it creep into the Monster High line as well in a couple of spots. This is not a good thing. It's a sign that the designers are older people who don't know current fashion. (I'm an older person, myself ... over 50 ... so don't think I'm knocking older people.) I really think this lack of fashion sense is one reason for Mattel's decline over the past 10-15 years.
I've seen a few tiktoks where the budgets have been found at the toys r us in Macy's and Khols as well as Tj Maxx and Marshall's. I personally haven't checked them out yet. Also the lower priced budgets seems to only be found in Latin America fron what I've seen but I'm not sure how accurate that is.
Also Coffee Break Frankie is ELITE. I was actually so blessed to find a signature Frankie with the Coffee Break eye screening
Something I'm suprised you didn't mention and that i absolutely ADORE about this line is that they added some body diversity. All the MH dolls AND characters I've seen growing up had the same stick-thin body type and just seeing them delve into chubbier bodies, skinnier, curvier, taller, it just makes my heart smile (and I'm not even plus size myself, if anything I'm "minus" size, but the character designer with eating disorders in me is screaming in joy for this detail. Gotta love some body diversity in dolls, it's so often ignored in favor of the average skinny body type in like... 80% of doll lines, and seeing Mattel add diversity in one of their biggest clothing brands just makes me so happy).
I love seeing dolls with hips. It makes them look more feminine to me in a wonderful, positive way.

If I weren't a doll collector getting all the updates, the only way I would know a new Monster High line was out was to maybe have seen a Signature G3 on the shelf. I live in Canada, and Walmart barely and sporadically has them in stock. They are also carried by our national book store Indigo. My local Toys R Us just closed. I wonder in the era of online shopping taking over brick-and-mortar stores, how does a new product get attention? Maybe people with kids are aware of the cartoon, so that is a way of advertising. I hope the upcoming dolls can be released in a more consistent stream to maintain interest, because kids lose attention fast, and if kids don't buy these too, the line won't last long.
Unpopular opinion, but I don’t really like the new artwork for them. I loved the old artwork more. It was unique and cool. The new artwork is fine but it just doesn’t suit them in my opinion 🙁
I agree, I think the old artwork just had more personality. And it was way more fun to dry and mimic the style

They keep only drawing the characters in one pose only just tracing it over with a new outfit(as in for the budget dolls) it just makes it feel so-empty, the artstyle just gives me “””Calart art style””” tbh
The new artwork we’ve gotten is a massive improvement honestly but idk it’s still not monster high to me, there’s something in it I just feel don’t fit, their still gorgeous tho don’t get me wrong

Granted I think the dolls are a massive hit and miss (why can clawd have coily/kinky afro yet clawdeen can only have wavy hair??)
My issue is how the designs do not match the cartoon designs, mh g1 was often extremely acruate to the cartoons and movies yet here they couldn’t even get the Frankie from the deuce two pack right in the cartoon, their outfits look nothing alike outside of pattern, even the character designs themselves don’t match like in the cartoon clawdeen has very tight curls yet her doll has wavy hair, same with how toralei has short hair in the cartoon but Long on her dolls
I see people say it’s to simplify them for the cartoon but that makes no sense, if it were only to simplify they’d still have some resemblance to the doll and not look like a completly different outfit and character , Mickey Mouse himself in the rubberhose times would be simplified but only in terms of changing how his hands looks or face shape to make him even more simplier to animate , simplify only ever means to simplify a design nor change it to the point it’s unreconizable to the character
Besides g1 had a very obv small budget on their cartoons but could still match the characters to the dolls as close as possible , g3 has an obv higher budget and is made in a time where our technology improved
The toy designs came first and then Mattel gave the animation crew at Nick creative freedom to tweak the designs up kinda like how Creative Capers did the first three Bionicle films

I think what MH need it’s to release new monsters. We all have seen Lagoona and the gang, but back in the day it was so fun and exciting to see which new monsters they’re gonna use as the new student. I remember people doing fan arts of unknown monsters around the world who could be part of the MH.
That created a sort of community among fans, it was also the reason why so many people started to collect MH because they where all different, not many people wanted to collect the same blonde Barbie in a different dress. And with this generation that was lost
1000% AGREE WITH YOUR POINT ABOUT PEOPLE THINKING MONSTER HIGH WAS EVER REALLY THAT EDGY. I love monster high, but only the first wave (and maybe some of Draculaura and Frankies outfits) were really edgy or "goth" (seriously some of the people in their instagram comments need to look up a list of the dolls). For kids dolls they are edgy but thats about it. People that are complaining about the lack of gothic outfits should just get into BEGoths since thats basically what they want. :P
I haven't watched the show, mostly because there hasn't been any convenient way for me to watch it and I haven't really heard much of anything about the plotlines to make me want to go out of my way to pirate it. The animation style looks very cute though, I kinda hope they branch out the merch to include those vinyl figures again, i think they'd lend themselves to that really well.
As for the dolls, I really don't know fashion design very well at all but g3 is the first time I've seen a playline where I actually *really* like the male face sculpts. They usually look boring, uncanny, or just like the girls but with the makeup removed (uninspired). These boys have unique faces and they look *good* ! Now all I want is for them to get dolls where I actually like their fashion lmao.
I also really want: A Frankie with pants (that's not pajamas) ((I'm still heartbroken they didn't get some kind of suit for Monster Ball)), a Clawdeen with a bit of an edgier look and/or darker makeup (I just think she'd look *so* pretty and It'd be cool to see how it compares to her G1 looks), and just one (1) Draculaura where she isn't wearing pink. Just once, as an experiment. Is Draculaura still Draculaura without her pink? We don't know, it's never happened.
Also please please please bring back Spectra and Rochelle. My darling girls, I miss them so.

I work at target and it seems like the dolls sell faster then a lot of other dolls in my store.
I really want to see them improve more when it comes to diversifying the doll lines (we need more toralei and ghoulia dolls!) and give clawdeen more fashion foward looks and black hairstyles! there are so many black fashion influencers nowadays, they should take more inspiration from them.

I’m so glad you like the Gore-ganizer Cleo too!! I just love this doll!! I didn’t like Monster Ball Lagoona at first but after watching Courtly Jester’s video on the dolls and realizing how beautiful Lagoona’s face is, she is now my favorite (and Clawdeen a close second).

It really feels like Mattel is trying their damndest to get G3 to wither on the vine while everyone working on the different parts of G3 and the part of the fandom that likes G3 is fighting them on it. The lack of communication on doll releases (on top of the inexplicable pattern of said releases), the erratic airing of episodes on cable, the sluggish release of episodes to streaming (or outright lack of streaming on some sites)... at this point when we're multiple doll releases - and even more doll leaks - in it feels purposeful.
I want to give Mattel my money, but they make it hard when *every single thing I want to buy* is either not in stores with no ETA for when I'm going to finally be able to buy them or they're out there somewhere in some impossibly niche store that I can't get to (looking at you Day Out budget line).
the skulltimate secrets line has just hit shelves in Australia and I was able to get 1 of each except lagoona. I. Am. In. Love. Theyre stunning and I can't wait for wave 2

I found your channel a few weeks back and have been watching through it. I have a complicated relationship with fashion dolls so these videos are really nice to watch. It's neat learning about toylines I liked or disliked as a kid and to see what's been happening with dolls since I was a kid. So thank you for making these videos. They're fun and they are helpful for a butch still working through her complicated feelings about girls toys and media.
we're only in february and mattel have announced like... 30 G3 dolls. it's... a lot. but then hasn't said anything at all about when or where any of them are going to release? It took the UK months to get the basic g3 line, and I have a horrible feeling skulltimate secrets and the furniture sets won't even release outside of the US.
side note that wasn't mentioned in the video but has anyone noticed that mattel REALLY doesn't seem to want Ghoulia to be a thing? no haunt couture doll for her, but Rochelle of all characters gets one, Ghoulia wasn't even an option to vote for. even in the next line of HC, still no Ghoulia. and her g3 doll is target exclusive, so in theory not available for anyone outside of the US at all? one of the originals and mattel is just pretending she's not there. I am lucky to have an insanely generous friend who got me g3 Ghoulia from target and then paid $87 just to ship her out to me AND paid the $50 customs charge when she actually got here.
As a G1 stan I am slowly warming up to G3's dolls. The skulltimate secrets 2 dolls are beautiful. Cleo and Frankie blew me away. I was shocked when I saw them. The rest of the dolls haven't peaked my interest whatsoever. I like certain parts of different dolls here and there but I feel like there's something missing that doesn't fully say "finished product" Abbey's is also a doll I was looking forward to. She's so pretty but I do agree with the too literal aspect of her clothes. I wouldn't have minded more fur. As for the cartoons I don't see myself watching that. They don't look nothing like the dolls and vise versa. There's a disconnect also some of the box art look like a different set of characters. Younger ones at that. I am keeping my eyes on their skulltimate secrets lines because those are the most promising to me. Higher fashion and fiercer looks its what scream MH to me.

After all the new releases I've finally warmed up to g3. I hated them at the start, I felt like they either looked like caricatures, had horrible fashion, or were so far removed from g1 that they might as well be different characters.
Some of the dolls from the latest releases feel like they matured in terms of fashion, the designers found what works and what they can experiment with. I'm in love with the new color palettes, styles of clothing and hair (for the ones that actually got different hair).

So I started getting into Monster High, specifically because of the talk around the G3 reboot. Before it dropped. G3 is to me? My generation of Monster High. I’ve been experiencing all of it but? G3 is my Monster High. Yet so far I’ve only purchased two dolls. As here in the UK? We are still on wave one. Which wasn’t released until New Year’s Day (I queued outside of stores to get my preorder Frankie!) we’re months and months behind the rest of the world and like you rightly say - they are so hard to even find on shelves?
I feel like I’m on a scavenger hunt just to give Mattel money! Skulltimate secrets wave 2 and Abbey? Are dolls on my: must buy list. As the line matures they are getting cooler and cooler. But some of the early releases really don’t do it for me. I also agree on the show being adorable but wishing we could get more (or access it easier! In the UK we can currently only access one episode on paramount and we haven’t even gotten the Abbey episode yet!) ironically this generation has made me love and appreciate Clawdeen more than ever and she’s become a fave for me. Even if Frankie is my ride or die in every gen, they just perfect them every time I swear ❤
i am OBSESSED with the animated show, it's so cute and its impossible to have a bad time watching it. i adore the dolls too but distribution is such a huge problem, i need them to have more shelf space or at least have more than one line at a time in stores. i mean looking at the g1 creepros and reel drama, it's not surprising there are a lot of problems w g3 also.
I only found the first wave of budget dolls at Macy's in the busiest mall near me a week before Christmas. It was a nightmare to look for them.

i see what you mean by monster ball being heavily 80s inspired and now i get it. however, i don't know why they decided to go with an 80s theme when 80s silhouettes aren't super popular/trendy right now in fashion (for people). i think a 2000s prom theme would have been more aspirational for their target audience tbh. that said, i love clawdeen's suit for that line!
I think the MH design team in general is just very nostalgic for the 80's lol (G1 had some 80's fashion influences too here and there)
I really love G3, and I completely agree with you when it comes to how bad the releases are. I still haven't found a single Skultimate Secret doll in stores (the stores in my area might just be iffy) and there's already been leaks for the Fearridescent line? It's kind of frustrating because I WANT these dolls but they're no where to be seen
I love g3 monster high! They have done a great job with developing each character to be truly unique from the others, and expressing that really well through the cartoon. What i wish was that we knew when things were going to happen - the creep over line was the last collection to come out back in i think November? And there are people who already have HAD the skulltimate secrets line and i am just ready to give Mattel my money so i can get the three i want. I genuinely don’t understand what this long wait is for. Same for the tv show- last episode was mid-December and it’s not like the series is over, they have like… 18 episodes left or something? I think we found out it’s coming back mid-march so hopefully that means they’re ready to start launching their 2023 products.
I am very curious about how kids like the dolls and how well they are selling in the children department and if the kids who are fans of the show are buying the dolls
The thing that irritates me the most is that they keep repeating the same characters over and over. I would love to see either some G1/2 characters redesigned or some brand new characters. With the way I collect I can't see myself buying 15 Draculaura dolls, and I feel like if I was a kid I would be way more interested in having new characters rather than a bunch of the same one
But over all I love the dolls, I like them more than G1 too
I just started collecting Monster High dolls last year with G1 and although the G3 dolls are adorable in the own way, I think I still prefer the G1 dolls.
i got into monster high right before g3 stuff was starting to come out bc i'm really into frankenstein stuff and i love looking into silly kids media with any sort of frankenstein adaptation. i LOVE frankie they're such a solid character and i especially love their g3 design, i actually drew a little redesign of them before the g3 design came out and honestly after i saw the new design i was like oh! wow! no notes! like they're fairly different from my design, but i feel like g3 added a lot more of a frankenstein vibe to them somehow idk.
i think my one thing is that they need to give frankie black lipstick more often. like this is a really really niche detail from the original book and i doubt the designers are aware of it but the original monster from the book had black lips. like idk i feel like it would look soooo good w/ some looks AND be a very niche reference to the original book. idk if they ever change the eye colors of the characters esp since they have heterochromia but i feel like for my ultimate original book reference look they would have gold eyes and black lipstick and like some sort of historical outfit. it would be really fun. it could look so good. they could add gold accents everywhere. my vision.
Definitely agree with you on how MH consumers have to go out of their way to find the dolls.
Target, Macy's, Kohl's don't have an outright section for MH online. It's so easy to navigate and buy MGA dolls in comparison.
I also wish Mattel was better at telling us anything - drop dates, where to buy the dolls(it's annoying they don't even list all the dolls on their website. Even for Barbie.), anything Mattel Creations in terms of pre order windows, how many were produced, etc.
Lagoona and Frankie's wave 2 of Skulltimate Secrets are absolutely so stunning.

I am new to monster high and I love them. I think the cartoon is cute and has very nice animation. I have seen some of the older series and like the voices and quality animation better in the new series. I do wish I knew when dolls were available. I see them on you tube and then can’t find them anywhere. The skulltimate secrets looks amazing! But I can’t even find the first line of these.
Just want to say here, the lower budget/Monsteristas dolls are (as far as I know) exclusive to latam, maybe only available in Mexico for now! I'm Mexican and I think I only seen mexican people buying these budget dolls as these are mostly the ones we can find in stores (There's a few core/signature dolls but not all of them are avilable, not even online), idk about other latam countries tho

Here in Austria a toy store has finally listed the first core dolls online (no Toralei, Ghoulia or Deuce ofc) - release at the end of June 2023. Meanwhile you can already get Rainbow High Series 5 at the end of March 😧😧
Mattel's international distribution is a total joke. Honestly, I was sooo ready for G3 when the dolls were first leaked. I was in love and wanted to throw my money at Mattel as soon as I saw them! But like this? It pains me to say, but as Mattel doesn't seem to care about international customers, I couldn't care less about their dolls 💔
Maybe I'll get G3 when they are cheaper (around 20 bucks max), but for now I will only buy MGA dolls instead. Or buy missing second hand G1 dolls on eBay to restore 🤷♀️
My main problem is the lack of availability abroad, I have yet to see any of the first G3 dolls in stores in France, otherwise their design is extremely cute and I love the new direction
Also I like it that they basically made the Devil canon when it came to Heath. I always assumed that he was related to the Devil in some way but they didn’t explicitly state that in G1 because there would be backlash
