  • We cover how to properly remove 2fa (2nd factor authentication) from your Protonmail account. It is vitally important to properly remove 2fa from your email account or you could lose access. This step by step procedure explains every detail. We walk through the process of using the Yubikey authenticator app, Yubikey security key and TOTP (Time based one-time passcodes). Multifactor authentication using a security key is your best protection against being hacked. Proton mail is a privacy focused encrypted secure email service.

    Would love to get some feedback on Proton mail. I'm a little surprised they have not yet fully adopted hardware security key implementation. Presently you can only use time based one-time passcodes (TOTP).

      Sorry to hear about your situation. What authenticator app are you using to generate codes?

      Did you download the backup codes when you set up 2fa? If you did, then one of these codes can disable the 2fa. Just type it in where it is asking for the 6 digit code. Please let me know how it works. Just checked it on my account.

      I need more of your help. I am trying to reset the protonmail id and it is showing me this warning "This will also disable any two-factor authentication method associated with this account". Does this mean I don't need 2FA to login into protonmail with google authenticator? Or it means i don't need 2FA to login in binance like in previous example?

    • @CyberMedics
      @CyberMedics  Рік тому +1

      @@rohitgoyal5419 Not sure what reset the proton id means. If Proton mail is saying, "This will also disable any two-factor authentication method associated with this account". Does this mean I don't need 2FA to login into protonmail with google authenticator?" The answer is yes. It will disable 2FA on your proton account.
      It sounds like Binance is sending a confirmation code to your proton mail for login. This will not effect Binance sending a code to your proton mail. Thank you for subscribing, liking the video and commenting!

    Hi, Need a huge favor. I lost my 2fa device. So i logged into protonmail using one of the recovery codes. Then i went to setting to deactivate my 2fa. But to deactivate it, its asking for my password and 2fa code. Kindly advise me on how to deactivate it.

      Check out the steps in our video: ua-cam.com/video/nvSeVKM4Gwg/v-deo.html You will use one of your recovery codes vice the 2FA. I did this video for another subscriber that had the same problem. Sorry for the late reply. Please let me know if you need any help. Thanks for commenting & subscribing.

    I have my Protonmail account password saved to Bitwarden. Every time I put in the password, and the Microsoft Authenticator app code. Protonmail says BOTH are wrong. Yet Protonmail allowed me to log into the account, with the password. So I'm confused.

    • @CyberMedics
      @CyberMedics  2 роки тому

      Not sure why Proton mail allowed you to login if the authenticator code was wrong. Normally if the code is wrong the Seed for the account may not be correct. Also check the time setting on your device. If the time is off it can cause errors. Check to make sure 2factor authentication is truly turned on for Protonmail. See Time Stamp: 30 seconds on this video: ua-cam.com/video/nvSeVKM4Gwg/v-deo.html
      Also, do you have the account loaded on another device or authenticator app. If so, please check to see if the codes are in sync. Reach out to me if you need more help. Thanks for commenting and subscribing.
