- ZRH-DUS: A nice evening in Germany. Mostly cloudy skies made for a beautiful descent and landing. Landed about 45 minutes late due to a delayed departure in Zurich. That's one thing I've noticed about Zurich is takeoffs around 5PM are typically delayed due to air traffic control restrictions.

I've hit worst bumps/potholes on my street. Good landing.
You could see from the flexing of the wing ( that much is not normal ) that it was gusty and turbulent; under the circumstances it was not at all a bad landing.
Living in the Western Hemisphere, I can't say I see many A340s around, so forsure when I saw the way that reverse thrust worked, I was shook.
First time seeing it I grew up with 707 and 737-200
Thank-you for another great video sir! I really wish I had the chance to travel as much as you do. On a Lufthansa landing in Washington, DC, the weather was very bad, and the pilot had to set the B747 down hard. After the passengers finished screaming, I shouted, "Do it again!" I thoroughly enjoy having fun while flying. But, my shout earned me a slap from my girlfriend. Please keep up the great work, Fejf.

Off topic: A small TIL for those who want to write Ä Ö Ü in German. You can also write the German Umlaut-vocals as AE, OE and UE. So Düsseldorf can be written as Duesseldorf. Might look weird, but helps when reading it to pronounce it correctly. :)

When you see a long range airliner from Swiss in intra-european routes that means generally that the flight is a line proving exercice for a new pilot.

Ouchhhh.! Almost no flare during before touchdown. I was looking at the wingtip for a pitch angle change, there was none.

Depending on your seat position in the cabin, the landing feels harder than it really is. I think this is one case. Just supposition.

Why would you be on a A-340 from ZRH to Dusseldorf? That's an ultra short flight with either Embraers or A-310 but never an A-340

perhaps it was a longer flight. Maybe USA to Düsseldorf via Zürich
Pilot was probably new to the throttle handling of the aircraft? You can hear them spool up every now and then when the speed gets low.

For those who are wondering why an A340 is used on this flight... just use some imagination, perhaps the original scheduled aircraft is unavailable, or the craft needs to be repositioned, or Perhaps even a scheduling error.. that's just the art of airline operation

The reason for that hard landing was: They were training young new pilots that are learning how to land a plane.
I don't think so. Did you see the wings flexing and the plane being bumpy? There were some strong winds.

Am i the only one who is confused why the pilots put reverse thrust on all the engines?
DerPyPuG LorD Seems like it. The only aircraft where reverse is only used on 2 out of 4 engines is the A380 and that's only because ENG 1 & 4 aren't equipped with reversers to save weight. Standard procedure 99% of the time otherwise to use reverse on all engines
DerPyPuG LorD I am confused by your comment - it’s unusual , though not exceptional , to land without using reverse thrust , and the A380 is the only aircraft I can think of that doesn’t apply it to all engines , although the usual stated reason for not having reversers on its outboard engines is because they overhang the edges of the runway and would be liable to kick up a lot of debris.
