Never done a GS Safari but have many years with my BMW GS R1200. One day I'll get to do a GS Safari Austrailia! It's the perfect environmt for a GS event. This is AWESOME! Green with envy here in the States!

7.51, good to see an old G/S in the mix of bikes.
Pretty cool ride but it's very far to be an adventure when you have a mechanic, someone to fix the tires, 5 star accomodation and someone to help you to cross the rivers. but yeah some people like to be spoiled! I don't 😂 , nice footage! I did Sydney to the Tip on my own! nice experience!
Nice video. The BMW Safari has come a long way since the inaugural event from Sydney to Fraser Island in 1994.
That year, Chris Van Wyk was the head honcho, I believe Wendy Spooner did logistics (maybe she joined in '95 Syd to Adelaide).
Two Wheels journalist Mick Matheson was along for the ride and Warwick Schuberg from Stay Upright riding school was along for sand tuition.
I wasn't permitted to do the section from Rainbow beach to Tin Can bay because I was R80 roadbike mounted (GS's only)
The ferry from Kingfisher to Hervey Bay was booked solid on departure day, so I road the R80 across the sand island and down the beach to Inskip point.
I'll never forget the look on Warwick's face when I passed him heading south on the beach to Inskip... Good (simple) times.

The white with blue frame Airhead G/S (1000cc engine) at 8:49 was built up by SEQ BMW expert Pay Peake roughly ten years ago. Still looking great, still going strong.
I think Australia is "THE" perfect GS country ... its huge for a start .. and all those unpaved roads, perfect for GS exploration, rather than the hard enduro some folk try and do on them 😬... I'd love to do this event 👍🏻

Bmw safari or ktm rally , ive ridden my Harley through rougher country than this ... NOTE : dont jump on the front brakes in the mud 😂🤣 watching this has made me realise that I definatly made the right choice getting the Ktm 890r , i dont want to be a toff ... 👍🏼🍻 oh at the start when he said the boys are having beers all i seen was water on every table ...🤣😂🤣

Very wet looking ride. Not so fun in all rain and wet roads.

average age 100, dont worry im one of them. new GS last week, finally left the orange camp. BMW need to attrack younger riders or ...............
This was exactly my thought !! That first couple of minutes in the welcome event .. average age was about 55 !!! This proves a few things, the bikes are overpriced and only old men can afford them ( I'm an exception, had 3, first was at 32 ) and that BMW are losing out on massive chunks of market share, surely if the bikes were more accessible then the younger guys and girls would bite the bullet. 🤷🏽♂️

It looks like a social center for the elderly. GS users are frustrated retirees with a good pension.
I cant stress how much a stupid an idea it is to ride 600 lbs motorcycles on mud trails with huge ponds on the trail / road. Get a brain and buy a dual sport with knobbies on it if you want to do this stuff.
Its amazing to watch guys crashing $23,000 motorcycles riding mud sucks

Most of these guys need to spend less on accessories for their bikes and expensive gear to wear and learn to ride first. Most of them appear to be in their late 70s 😹
