  • I had the luck to get my hands on the Noodler's Ink limited release "Catfish Cupid's Legion" fountain pen ink! This ink is a limited release of only 144 bottles! The name and label are quite on the creative side! This is a pinky red Valentine's Day themed ink. I decided to try the ink in my Pilot Custom Heritage SE in Blue Marble with the "Fine" nib. I quite like the color and think I will use it for this month to change up my usual "Writer's Blood" Diamine ink.
    The Giveaway is closed.
    I will be giving away one bottle of Noodler's "Catfish Cupid's Legion" ink to one lucky winner!
    1. Just comment about something about fountain pens below!
    2. The contest runs through Valentine's Day, Feb. 14th, 2024.
    3. I will tag the winner in the comment section to notify.
    This contest is given by me and is not sponsored in anyway.
    Supplies Used:
    Pilot Custom Heritage SE in Blue Marble (Fine Nib)
    Tomoe River Paper Notebook
    Onion Skin Paper Notepad

    Oh that is absolutely gorgeous! I love Noodler's inks, and most of my fountain pen inks are from Nathan. I love the range from red to pink in this one.

    Nice ink, thanks for the show. I'm just back from the post office, sending of my unwanted Waterman 52V in trade for a Sailor Realo I couldn't afford. I am a Sailor Boy, and just got rid of my last vintage pen. Today I'm drawing with my Lamy Nexx filled with De Atramentis Artist Purple Ink.

    that Pilot nib sounds so smooth! I've been itching to try a "regular" gold-nib Pilot nib. I have my Custom Heritage 912 with FA nib which I love, but now I"m curious to try a non-flex to see how I like it. Do you have a favorite gold-nib from Pilot?

    Thanks, Logan! It's a nice looking ink. I've got a medium collection of pens, with quite a few inks to play with. I only have a few stub nibs, so I've been thinking of adding some stub nibs to my collection to better enjoy the colors in the inks I've got! It's nice to see you are enjoying your inks!

    FYI…the weapon on the label IS a crossbow, a modern version called a compound crossbow. The pulleys and cables make it a little easier to draw given it’s power. They don’t shoot fountain pens, though!🙂

    Recently I've been haunted by a memory. Last year, after watching hours of health-related channels and jotting notes, I spilled water all over my notebook. Fortunately most of it was written in Noodler's Heart of Darkness, but the parts that were in Saguaro Wine were mostly washed out. What are your thoughts on the importance of water fastness in an ink, and have you had any similar experiences?

    • @MarshaLove0723
      @MarshaLove0723 6 місяців тому +1

      When I go to write something, I always have in the back of my mind, 'How upset would I be if this got wet and became unreadable?' And let that dictate which ink I use.
      When I first got back into fountain pens a few years ago, I only used permanent inks, but realized that I was missing out on colors I liked more and had to expand my ink stash.
      Lots of my favorite colors would wash away. Many permanent inks *can* be dull, and we have to really stay on top of the pen maintenance so the pens don't clog with dried ink.
      My favorite types of inks are the semi permanent ones - they still have some of the vibrancy of the washable inks, but leave a hint of writing behind when water is added so the text is recoverable.
      If my writing is journal-type, I'll use a more permanent ink. Or if my writing is more temporary but still important for a short time, I'll use the washable ink, but then take a picture of it - just in case. 😊

    • @azzgunther
      @azzgunther 6 місяців тому +1

      @@MarshaLove0723 That's a rational way to go about it. An option that I've been dabbling with has been adding a few % of a permanent black to some colors to be sure that something is left behind should the worst happen. But ultimately I think that it makes the most sense to save the brighter, less permanent colors for goofing around. Though I know that Noodler's does make some brighter inks with water permanence. I wonder if they're more prone to clogging or drying or other downsides.

    • @MarshaLove0723
      @MarshaLove0723 6 місяців тому +1

      @@azzgunther One of my favorite reds is Noodler's (non-permanent) Red. Noodler's inks are very concentrated with dye. If I'm using a pen with Red and put it aside for weeks without using it, the ink in the feed will get even more concentrated, and while it looks great, it takes forever to dry - like daaaays forever I've learned to use up the fill when I ink a pen with most Noodler's inks. I could dilute them with a bit of distilled water, but I like the colors as is.
      Mixing inks is fun. I usually let the mixes sit in a sample vial for a several days before I put it in a pen - just in case one of the inks doesn't like something in the other ink(s). I'd rather have a bad reaction happen in a vial and not in one of my pens.

      I use my pens and inks to draw. To layer without feathering, you need waterproof ink. If you want to put a drawing up on the wall, the ink best be fadeproof. To obtain both these features, I have recently switched to using nothing but De Atramentis Artist Ink. Yes, I am limiting myself to less than 20 colors, but for what I do (and who I am) that is not a problem. I still have quite a few other colors in other brands leftover, but so far I haven't been tempted to use them.

    I can't pick a favorite ink! I can say that some of my most used are: Diamine Sherwood Green, Diamine Ancient Copper, Pilot Iroshizuku Fuyu Syogun, and Ferris Wheel Press The Fluttering Heart. That last one is amazing in my Fountain Pen Revolution pen with an ultra flex nib.

    I like that color. My issue is I am drawn to sparkly inks because of the "prettiness" of it, but it clogs my pens something fierce, so I don't use or buy them anymore and I have all these bottles just sitting around. Wasting time, being non-productive inks. Slackers. Lol.
