- *Giveaway is closed and the winner will be announced Christmas morning!
I had the luck to get my hands on the Noodler's Ink special release "Grinch Garnet" fountain pen ink! I believe this is a release of only 288 bottles! Having these Grinch inspired inks is a fun addition to my collection and I hope they continue this next year! This ink is more of a pink than I was expecting, but shows up darker red with different applications and paper tones. I decided to try the ink in my Pilot Custom Heritage SE in Blue Marble with the "Fine" nib. I love the consistency of the flow for this ink. I quite like the color and will probably look for ways to use it as an everyday ink for a few weeks to change up my boring blacks a bit!
I will be giving away one bottle of Noodler's "Grinch Garnet" ink to one lucky winner!
1. Just comment about your favorite ink below!
2. The contest runs through Christmas Eve, December 24th 2023.
3. I will tag the winner in the comment section to notify.
This contest is given by me and is not sponsored in anyway.
Supplies Used:
Pilot Custom Heritage SE in Blue Marble (Fine Nib)
Tomoe River Paper Notebook
Onion Skin Paper Notepad
Thanks to everyone for entering the giveaway! I will enjoy reading your comments over the holiday. The winner will be announced tomorrow morning! Merry Christmas!
I kind of jumped when you did the first squirt from the syringe with needle removed! How satisfying to see it spray, though. I have not really seen anyone "splat" quite like that!!! Quite fun. I have been loving my Pelikan M200 quite a bit lately. Broad nib and deliciously smooth.
It is fun to do!
Thanks for your generosity! Noodler's is my favorite brand, particularly Air Corp Blue Black, such economic value, patriotism in his naming other ones, etc. May the triune God bless you always!
Thank you for watching!
My favorite fountain pen is my Esterbrook Estie Botanical Garden with Pilot Iroshizuku Sui-Gyoku (emerald green) ink. I just keep going back to that pen and ink combo💚
Thank you for offering a giveaway! 😊
Sounds gorgeous!
My grandfather gave me my first fountain pen when I was nine-his Sheaffer with a transparent green barrel and chrome-look metal cap. Not to be outdone, my grandmother then gave me hers-a clear barrel with metal cap. I felt SO rich, even though anyone could buy these for about a dollar at a five and ten. And, even though I’ve been collecting fountain pens for about 45 years now and have some real gems, these two are still my favorites. Happy holidays, and thank you for your thoughtful reviews.
That is such a neat story. What a cool grandfather!
I’ve been using fountain pens for about forty years now. I discovered them as a child and just thought they were neat. I recently purchased my first dip pens, Pilot’s iro-utsushi, and they are ridiculously fun! I use a bunch of inks regularly including noodler’s red-black, hawthorn’s scarlet, southwest sunset, and heart of darkness.
Congrats! Sounds like a good time!
I love your dedication and commitment to doing these wonderful daily videos, Logan 😊.
My absolute favorite current pen is my Pilot Vanishing Point stripes, just like yours!!
Thank you so much for watching!
Not a Competition Entry
Thank you for showing us, Logan. Your ink reviews are great to watch. 🤩 I especially like seeing the inks on different paper and the writing samples.
I love the name of this ink!!!
(Same with the Inkvent "Bah Humbug" and I cannot wait for that to be readily available so I get my own bottle).
Thanks so much!
An unexpected hue of red for Christmas! Very interesting. Lately I've been stuck using almost exclusively Platinum Carbon Black ink for it's fully waterproof properties, and it makes me miss my Noodler's Heart of Darkness so much. I love a matte "chalky" ink as opposed to a shiny "lackered" one. I don't hear many people talk about that aspect of an ink but the feel on the paper is so distinct to me
I actually don't own a bottle of Platinum Carbon Black and I'm ashamed to say it! I bum it off my sister when I need some! Great ink.
I think my favorite thing about fountain pens are the color options for inks. I am learning more and more about them and your channel along with others help me to understand what I feel when writing qith a fountain pen. Like the other day I felt dryness for the first time and because of you guys I knew that was what I was feeling
It is a feeling! You can see a little but definitely a feeling. I'm glad you're enjoying the channel.
Love the pink tone. My favorite type of red. Hope you have a wonderful holiday!
Thank you! You too!
That is a very nice red. My favorite color at the moment is a noodle exclusiveblue blue-black form a fountain pen store by me. What I like about it is this blue black is the same color of ink that people would sign their name in when they arrived at Ellis Island.
(edit: voice to text made a mistake)
I do love Noodler's exclusives!
I really enjoy how you demonstrate how inks look. I’ve only been using fountain pen for a few months. I expressed interest in them and a coworker gave me a Lamy and a Kaweco sport, and said I could have them if I could get them to work. I went to Micheal’s to buy ink. I found this nice black and it didn’t work very well in the Lamy. I bought India ink not knowing it wasn’t made for fountain pens😬 I now have a sample of pilot Yama guri in it and it writes so much better😊
This is a very beautiful red/pink ink, thank you for showing it to us.
Thank you so much for watching!
Thanks for doing a review of this! Been a huge fan of Noodler's for some time now. I would say my favorite ink this year would be Noodler's Golden Brown. Lovely shading.
You are very welcome, thanks for watching!
Not commenting to enter your give-away, just that I think it's very thoughtful and generous of you - and love that Noodler's continues to release new inks.
I hope so too!
Logan, thanks for the giveaway opportunity. I have recently started to experiment with specialty nib grinds and have found that I like the Architect grind best.
Very nice!
BEAUTIFUL!! Noodler’s always brings it with the cool concepts. It’s a shame that more people don’t bother with Noodler’s. I guess there are so much more shiny new brands out there. Thanks for sharing this one with us, Logan. I need to see if I can grab one of these for myself now 😊 Red inks are my jam!
My favorite ink right now is Diamine Ghost. I love mixing my own colors and Ghost looks so cool with a smidge of another color in it. My favorite fountain pen of the moment is my grey Pelikan m150.
Ooooo I haven't looked into "Ghost" yet. I'll have to take a look!
Thank you for the Chance I have been loving my Ferris Wheel Press Inks. Merry Christmas
Happy New Year!
My favorite ink lately has been Noodler's Stockyard Signature. Goes great with my TWSBI Eco Indigo. Thank you for posting this video and letting us see the color!
You are so welcome!
I loved the way you swatched this ! My Twisbi Diamond 580 in Iris is my favorite and most reliable as well as my first fountain pen. I started by FR journey just this year and it has been wonderful. I would have to say the Lamy Crystal line is some of my favorite inks as well as the ones from Organics Studio.
I have tried a few of the organics studio and have loved them!
My go to everyday ink is Noodler's Apache Sunset. I just can't get enough of the heavy shading.
You are the winner of the Noodler's Ink! Thr easiest way to get in touch with me is through Instagram but if you don't have an account we can work something else out. I'll need a name and address to ship to. And I'm pretty sure you don't want to comment that here! Thanks so much for entering and have a Merry Christmas!
@@curatedavalon Thank you! I've messaged you on Instagram
Wonderful!
I love your swatch videos. It allows us the see the colors before we make that plunge. I don’t own one single red ink. 🤔 Been on a kick exploring Birmingham Pen Co inks lately. And pocket pens are my fav. That’s my fountain pen life in a nutshell. 😂
I'm glad it's helpful! One of my most used reds is Diamine "Writer's Blood." I just love it!
What a fun surprise in the midst of Inkvent! Garnet is an apt name for that lovely color. My favorite ink right now (using in bullet journal and for Christmas cards) is Birmingham Pen Co. 'Kentucky Bluegrass' but I'm also using Diamine 'Evergreen' and Noodler's '(Kiowa)Pecan'... a carryover from autumn that is still intriguing me. Merry Christmas!
Very nice combos!
Thank you for the giveaway opportunity! My favorite ink as of late as actually been Visconti Green currently. It has this amazing purple sheen that has been captivating me for the past few months.
Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you for the review! After waiting on tenterhooks for its release, I picked up a bottle of this the other day and have it inked in two pens (fine and a medium-leaning fine nib). It's pinker than I would normally like in a red, but I'm still very much enjoying writing with this ink. Very wet, good flow, a delightfully rich color when it's still wet on the page. Since I haven't found it to be the fastest dryer, that's actually quite a long time. :) (It's not that long, just longer than the other Noodler's reds I've been using lately.)
I don't need to be included in the giveaway, but thank you for your generosity in offering one!
Understandable on the drying time. After using it for a bit now, I noticed it does take longer to dry.
This color is stunning!
I'm a sucker for the olive/yellow/brown inks! Too many to have a favorite 😂
Understandable!
Noodler inks are my favorite inks. Blue Black and Heart of Darkness are my top two. I really enjoy using them on a rotating basis in my TWSBI . Nice video, 🙂
Oooooo nice parings!
That is a very pretty ink. My current favorite ink is Charoite from Monteverde, but tomorrow it could be a very different color. It seems like a lot of people online don’t really talk about Noodler’s inks anymore. I love his purples. It’s hard to believe Noodler’s is done all by one person.
Oh wow, I had no idea. I was thinking a huge conglomerate. Lolol. I agree, the inks are trustworthy and beautiful.
It is incredible!
LOVE this color and have nothing even close... wow!!!
It is stunning!
Wow! That's very nice of you. I do like a nice red ink. I don't stick with a single pen for more than a fill or two but I do love wet, fine, Bock nibs.
Thanks for sharing!
I've been using ALL the Golden Beryl for the holidays. Love it!
Good choice!
What a pretty color! My current favorite ink is probably TWSBI ink in Grape. Loving the purple's at the moment. Thank you for the giveaway! Merry Christmas 🎄
Happy New Year!
Thanks for sharing this beautiful ink with us; I really do like the color and the shading. That would be a beautiful ink to use in addressing Christmas cards. That should be great for using in my Parker 75 pen with a Large Italic nib.
That sounds gorgeous!
Wow, I did not think that this would be that colour at all! Have spent all week with my class drawing Grinch pictures EVERYWHERE, guess I'm brain washed into thinking green 😂🎄
Happy New Year!
that's a very HOT red/pink! love it
Just ordered this last night from Dromgoole's. I was worried it was going to be too close to Robert Oster Old Book Smell or Diamine Oxblood. Glad it's a different shade of red than anything I have! Happy Holidays Logan!!! :)
Hope you enjoy it! Happy New Year!
Hi Logan! I like that ink! It has some nice shading in it. In regard to telling you something about fountain pens, I've been working on "penabling" some of my coworkers lately. It's been fun telling them about pens and inks, and I've lent out some of my pens (not the most expensive ones) to have them try out the fp experience. I'm finding I'm enjoying having others try out pens almost as much as I enjoy using them myself! My favourite inks lately have been Colorverse Martian and DeAtrimentis Blackberry!
Very nice! We should "penable" as much as we can! Lol
Great find! Intense pink was a surprise, not grinching as more pinks are a good thing especially if there is some Noodler's permanence. Graf von Faber-Castell Yozakura Cherry Blossom ink and Pilot Iroshizuku Hana-Ikada have been in and out of my cart but a bit lighter than Goldilocks and still looking for the right pen. BTW your voice is great for a podcast. Happy Holidays!
Thank you! That is such an amazing compliment!
I love last years inkvent solar storm, it’s perfect for writing at work whilst still having some shimmer and colour
Definitely a nice ink!
My daily ink is Noodler’s Heart of Darkness. My signature ink is Noodler’s 54th Massachusetts. I also use Noodler’s Polar Inks when I am writing outdoors in the winter. I’ve never had a fun color like this. Just the basics.
I had just the basics for a long time. Then I got bit by the color bug!
My favorite fountain pen has been a Navhalur Original Plus inked with Pilot Kon peki. I have been enjoying other pens, too, but this is my working pen and ink combination. Happy holidays!!! 🎄
Happy New Year!
It’s quite an interesting pink tone! My favorite ink is Montblanc Irish green
I haven't tried that one! It must be gorgeous.
My favorite general ink is the one you like, Rome burning. I had no idea how much I’d like that ink. I love the browns, but we all know that color is only part of ink love. Lolol. My favorite fancy ink, I use only for brain dump ranting, is Ferris wheel press, majestic maple. I have it in a medium nib right now, but I want to put it in a fine nib, Kaweco sport. I’m thinking it’s ok because it’s an inexpensive pen. I just hope the shimmer comes through. I love your videos and ESPECIALLY look forward to inkvent. I got a full bottle of memory lane from last years edition. What will I pick this year?
All great inks! I'm glad you enjoy the videos!
Never even considered a pinkish ink but this one looked really nice and useful. My daily inks are J.Herbin Lie De Thé and the most surprising favorite, Parker Quink Blue. Nice and intense sheen on the Parker ink even if it is office acceptable blue for those boring work documents.
Very nice.
My favorite ink is Diamond Blue Velvet. I like the ink colour but I thought it would be a darker red. Thank you good video.
You are so welcome!
Feel free to skip me for the giveaway since I'm in EU and shipping might get too expensive for you.
That aside, my favourite pen (at the moment) is a Pilot Custom 823. Favourite ink is Diamine Writer's Blood and the ink I use every day is Pilot Iroshizuku Yama-Guri.
I adore Writer's Blood!
Just got a used Sailor Hoscal in black/red "candy cane" striping in the mail today. Needs a lot of cleaning but after a dip test, it feels great and will probably be my new wallet pen!
I've been moving for over a year, and just now am unpacking the bulk of my fountain pens and inks. Oh, how I've missed them! My boring everyday pen and ink combo is a standard Lamy 2000 with a stubbed nib (swoon!) using Noodlers' standard bulletproof black ink. It's my go to pen combo. Just bought a Benu Pomegranate fp and am looking for a nice rich pomegranate-colored ink to go in it.
Ooooooo love!
Early in my fountain pen journey I bought a blank book of handmade paper with a fancy leather cover. I use it for hobby related things such as ink swatches, nib tests, stickers from dealers, wax seals, etc. Because I find fountain pens to be a bit "magical" I call this book my "pen grimoire". 📖🙂 Best wishes.
That is awesome! What a neat idea. And such a keepsake.
I love your videos, thanks for all the work you put into them. My favorite ink is another Noodler's, it is Apache Sunset.
A fantastic ink! And thank you for watching!
Lovely nib sounds with some feedback.
I agree!
Recently picked up my pen of the year- a Pilot Justus 95 with the Barley finish. I just leave the nib on the soft setting. It’s Justus divine to write with.
La Couleur Royale is a very nice purple. How many mils is that bottle?
I have a few favorites I've used quite often this year. I love my Platinum Preppies since I love a lighter fountain pen and I customize mine with the Preppy Wa bodies, but medium size 0.5 size nibs to have a better flow for inks with shimmer and glitters. I have come to really love the Platinum Preppy pink color cartridge that came with my pink Preppy, but I recently discovered that I really like dark teals and dark green colors. I have unexpectedly fallen in love with Ferris Wheel Press' Edwards Gardens ink that I got from one of their ink charger sets. I can't wait to get a full size bottle when I run out!
This Noodler's ink red is also a beautiful color. I love how it leans towards pink, but writes darker. I would see myself using this color often.
I love the Edwards Gardens ink! Absolutely gorgeous.
Since I am new to fountain pens and inks, any ink is my favorite. if I have to pick one it would be Diamine Ancient Copper. Thanks for showing us this ink.
Good choice!
Noodler’s Borealis Black for everyday, General of the Armies for journaling. But this pink/red is WOW!
Very nice!
I really love my moonman c1 demo. The ink beginning seen in the barrel alwasys makes me happy..happy...happy.
Nice!
Dang! I missed the ink and the giveaway! Beautiful ink though. What is that pinkish red Iroshizuku? Momiji? I wonder how they compare. Thanks for sharing!
You are welcome! I'd like to see that comparison as well.
I dig the pinkish color. My favorite ink this year has been Sailor shikiori yonaga. It might seem like a normal navy, but it’s got some beautiful depth and smoothness
Oooooo I haven't tried that one!
My favorite ink is this new jar I got that’s an imitation gold. It’s so fun and shimmer.
Love this grinch pinkish red. It’s not what I expected at all.
I didn't expect a pinky color either!
My current favorite ink is J. Herbin's Émeraude de Chivor. It matches my prussian blue 580 perfectly.
I like pens that write well and on the finer side, I have a Pentalic Prism that came from a flea market that is one of my best writers. This is a nice looking color, I sometimes use Diamine Red Dragon, which I think is a little dark. Thanks for the review!
You're welcome!
I like that many of the videos mention the best store in Va Beach, VA, namely A Pen Lovers Paradise. Last years Noodler's Grinch ink flows well. Seems like the 2023 version does as well. My favorite pen is a Pelikan M150, but Nooder's ink is not used in that pen. My current choice of pens for Nooder's inks are Jinhao 9019, Jinhao x159, Twsbi eco and eco-t.
I love that shop too! Great choices!
Love the review. Favorite pen… that’s hard. Perhaps the Zodiac Pen Co Gemini as that was a gift from my wife :)
Very nice!
Gorgeous color.
I think so too!
Currently I’m using Diamine wild strawberry in my TWABI diamond mini, but…I love using my mother of pearl dip pen (circa 1890’s) for journaling. As a child I was fascinated by illuminated manuscripts and calligraphy…I guess I never really outgrew it, but supplies and information was limited where I lived. I use fountain pens because of the ease of writing with one and because there are so many shades to choose from that you can find the perfect on to call your own. Besides, it’s just a bit magical to sit down and watch the words flow out of a pen.
How neat! I love those old pens they are stunning.
My mother loved fountain pens and she passed recently… left me a Parker pen she had. Now I am just all in.. I feel like I’m writing with her always now. My favorite ink so far this year has been sailor haha
That is so sweet. Having that connection is amazing!
I am rather new to the fountain pen world. Currently have a Lamy Safari and a Kaweco Liliput. I have a green/black ink in my green/black Safari which I enjoy. Recently I got my hands on some Diamine Writer's Blood. Waiting for one of my pens to empty and wi be trying that out!
"Writer's Blood" is one of my absolute favorites!
My favorite ink right now is Conklin’s Israel 75 limited edition. Rich deep blue ink with slight red sheen. New subscriber ❤
I'm so glad you like the channel! Sounds like a great ink.
I’m a newbie in the fountain pen & ink community and I seem to lean towards collecting all kinds of inks so far. My favorite ink lately is Malayan Apple (aka Makopa) by Vintage Inks. It’s a beautiful magenta color with gold or green shading. By the way, you have a soothing voice. 😊
Ooooo that sounds lovely! And thank you! That is such a nice compliment.
I love this ink! I think I'd put it into the pen I requested for holidaytime, an ENSSO Italia in the Ultem material.
You should!
This year my most used ink this year is Ina-Ho by Pilot which is discontinued. Thank you for sharing your experience with both your inks and pens this year.
Happy new year!
Happy New Year!@@curatedavalon
New to fountain pens and am currently in search of my favorite ink. This color is beautiful! My favorite color in ball point is blue and I like Pilot Gel or sharpie pens.
Those are some great pens! Welcome to the fountain pen/ink world!
I have just recently dove into fountain pens and happened to pick up my first pen..a twsbi eco and first ink..noodlers USS Texas. Since I and somewhat local to dromgooles I thought it would be cool to grab one of their exclusive inks and I can say that I love the color and like the fountain pen experience as a whole. Thanks!
That's a great ink, I love it!
How does Grinch Garnet compare to Black Swan in Australian Roses? I have been using that a lot lately. The thinner pink appears similar but the red in Grinch Garnet seems closer to a true red rather than Black Swan...'s magenta color.
I'll have to give it a try and see. I'm thinking the garnet is going to be brighter.
The fountain pen that started my fountain pen hobby is the Platinum Preppy, I used just the one fountain for a full year in 2021, it worked perfectly but I was curious to what other pens and ink types there were out there, now coming close to the end of 2023 I have way more fountain pens, and I owe it all to the Preppy, a pen I would always record to beginners. 😊
That first pen really gets us going!
I'm definitely a Noodler's fan. Actually ordered a number of large bottles from Nathan last month. Big fan of Kung Te-cheng and Polar Blue so got Half Gallon jugs of those which should last a little while. Had seen this Grinch Garnet and was curious about it. It seems to be a more conventional (non-permanent) ink? I did get a bottle of Holly last year, and have enjoyed writing with it.
Very nice! He seems to be such a neat guy when it comes to ink!
@@curatedavalon He most certainly is. Since you're really into Dark Matter, might be worth contacting Luxury Brands to inquire about obtaining a large bottle of it for yourself. They have 16 and 32 oz sizes if you'd want to stock up. 16 oz is the best value, as anything larger is based on that quantity.
My favorite ink of this year is a Sailor Shikiori ink (Long Autumn Night) - Merry Christmas!
Happy New Year!
I really love the color of this ink. My current favorite ink is Pilot's Yama-Budo.
Nice!
I prefer that garnet ink over my Edelstein Garnet that i found not to be as red as i wold have liked it to be. About my actual favourite ink i'm using, that would be Colorverse Chi-Town on a Sailor KOP with a B nib.
Nice!
I think the new Platinum Chou Kuro super black ink is worth it, since it is visibly clearly darker than other black fountain pen inks, including their Carbon Black.
I definitely need to try that one!
The first ink I got was Noodler's Ellis Island blue black from the fountain pen hospital and I've mainly stuck with Noodler's since. Lately I've been wanting to try iron gall inks. So I ordered an ink based on it's name alone KWZ Gummiberry. Can't wait for it to get here and the first thing I write with might just be the theme song from Disney's the Gummi Bears.
That sounds like fun!
Right now I’ve been using a sailor pro gear mini with Noodler’s Brown #41
Very nice!
I love the whole experience of writing with fountain pens and exploring new ink/pen combinations. I’m currently really loving TEX MEX in my Opus 88 Koloro.
Interesting!!!
I’ve just ordered 2 pilot kakuno beginner pens, one for me and one for my 12 year old grandson who is a burgeoning artist. My plan is that we learn to use them together on Christmas to make some sketches and then do some watercolor painting.
That is so sweet! I hope he enjoys it!
I'm a sucker for red. All the shades, please!
My favorite ink lately is Shogun.
As a fan of pink-red, i should get this 🤣
I’ve been using RobertOster avocado as my main color ink for journaling in December. And it is my most painted with ink throughout the year 🥑
Neat!
My favourite ink is impossible to name, I do enjoy the Moss Green from Gvfc and I like the MB ToffeeBrown and the always dangerous Bay State Blue from Noodlers with dedicated pens. The other ink was Scriptus Northern Twilight an KWZ ink….but hold your horses Private Reserve Infinity Inks well I have 2 violet and black but they are my game changers as they don’t dry out in nibs left with caps off and work well don’t feather badly and are average for drying times for lefties this is a big thing
Very nice inks!
My favorite ink at present has to be Pelikan Edelstein Topaz at present for everyday ink. For holiday card writing, Diamine Inkvent Jack Frost is still a stunner for me.
Very nice! Love the use of "Jack Frost."
My favorite ink would be either Noodlers Rome burning or diamine writers blood.
Both favorites!
Currently got a Lamy 2k broad architect inked up with Black swan in Aussie roses.
That sounds divine!
@@curatedavalon thanks! It's pretty cool.
My favorite fountain pen is my Pilot E95s, bit it is also my only gold nib. I don't know if this is my favorite steel nib, but definitely the pen I use the most is my Kaweco Sport with a BB nib. The tiny Kaweco converter holds barely enough for three or four pages (or 8 in my B6 journal), but the nib is smooth and I like the thick line it produces.
With respect to inks, people talk about Oxblood a lot, and I do like it, but I like better Noodler's Hawthorne's Scarlet, and I want to try Noodler's Red Black. Also, I like Southwest Sunset, but I broke the bottle a few days ago (the only ink bottle I have broken in about 20 years of using fountain pens).
Oh no! You will need another bottle of that gorgeous ink!
My favorite fountain pen has no manufacturers name, no markings at all. It was given to me by my best friend, been besties for 52 years now.
Amazing!
Hmmm… “my favorite ink” is either : whatever is my newest addition (in this case Ferris Wheel Press Lac Moraine Enchanté) OR whatever I just knocked into and spilled most of (Noodlers First Emperor of China)!! ✍🏽❤
Oh no! I bet it was a royal mess!
My go to ink is Sailor Blue Black
Solid choice.
F-C 46L Colorverse MLav 🖋️🎁✨
Since I am new to fountain pens and inks, any ink is my favorite. if I have to pick one it would be Diamine Ancient Copper. Thanks for showing us this ink.
A stunning ink to be sure!
