Transcript Excerpts:
“Do you believe in Wendigo's", I asked my mum later that evening while she was making dinner in the kitchen. My mum looked up at me sharply as though pricked with a needle. First of all, she was already surprised that I will be hanging around in the kitchen while she made dinner. I never did that. I was more like the son who spent most of his time in his room on his phone or playing video games. So, seeing me comfortably seated in the kitchen was an unusual development. Then hearing me ask about Wendigos threw her off balance and she glared at me suspiciously like I wasn’t okay.
“Boy, you mean the mythical creatures with horns and bones and all, said to feed on human flesh?" She asked me, that’s if I remember correctly her exact question. My mum answered me saying she believes in the existence of anything, whether ghosts, demons, or mythical creatures. She said if the world could exist, then other things equally could. Her answer didn’t quite sit right me. But this time, I didn’t argue. I let it go.
The creek had a secluded section with electric fishes that glowed in the dark. Before the creek ordeal in the day, I had promised my sisters that I will be going to the creek at night to get some pictures of the glowing fishes. Within me, I was already skeptical about going to the creek again, but my sisters kept reminding me about the pictures I had to take. At some point, I got angry at myself for feeling like a little kid scared of monsters hiding under his bed or lurking in the closet. I stood looking at the mirror giving myself two small slaps, reminding myself that what I saw was a figment of my imaginations. And to fully convince myself, I set out for the creeks with nothing but a torchlight and my phone. A decision I still regret to this moment. Sometime around 7 pm, I wasn’t quite sure of the exact time. I had put on my jacket as it was slightly chilly and set out into the woods. My heart was racing but I tried so hard to quieten it. It failed anyway. I threaded the woods like I was going for a jog. Partly because I was afraid of the shadows, and the other part was I wanted to look unbothered.
I forced my mind to focus on every other thing but the fact that I was out at night, alone in the woods, and possibly going to be mauled by something I wasn’t sure of. My tactic was working but suddenly, I heard a twig snap. I knew it wasn’t from me. I had heard it from a distance. I wanted to ignore it but I also heard what sounded like the ruffling of dried leaves. I stopped in my tracks and looked around, even though I was too scared to. The hair on my body stood straight like someone electrocuted. The same eerie and cold feeling I had felt during the day settled in me again, weighing at my chest. I couldn’t quite explain it but the feeling was like I had knots in my stomach.
The last story sounds like it was written by the same person who made the "my three weed smoking girlfriends" story
It’s clickbait and hilarious 😂
The last one is so unrealistic it hurts.
Honestly. It's such a bastardization of the source material. They sound like ghouls or something tbh. It feels like the writer just tastelessly tacked on the term in an attempt to make the story more exotic.
ukr... it sounds like someone's poorly written script for a cheap teen flick horror movie
@@Ballsdeep-xs5ls exactly lol, it sounds like the writer just finished Tokyo Ghoul. It sounds too fake, and not like a story that they're retelling
oh my god... the girl's father came out at the end?? And the grandma was in on it?? That "twist" is kinda lame lol
@@roserose109 "What are you?" "I'm a *insert monster name here*" isn't this literally paraphrasing rize's dialogue in episode 1?
Last one lost me as soon as he said “Everyone died except me”
Cuz I had my tray table up
And my seat back in the full upright position
same here
adding ambient music to the video really did compliment the stories quite well
Glad you liked it
Yeah I noticed it right away I'm like ooh this is good
@@talesofhighstrangeness Sometimes it can be too much, but you sir knew when to use it to great effect! Bravo!
@@crbuck3394 i know exactly what you mean i was like damn im actually feeling scared now
Not gonna lie without the music the stories are quite tame.
I thought the second story sounded suspicious until the last one. Wow. Both are pretty clearly from people who ONLY know about wendigos through movies and games.
Here's a writing tip, boys and girls. Our memories are imperfect and brief. Long rambling descriptions with too much detail sound fake. Metaphors and similes are fine but don't use too many and avoid cliches. Don't have your main character accurately guessing other people's thoughts and feelings like the last story. Describe facial expressions by their physical features to avoid making your character sound like they're reading people's minds.
You deserve more attention and love
Right?
I love your pfp
yo pfp
I love wendigo story’s, But the last one was wack. Written like a terrible teenage horror movie. No hate towards you tho, you narrated it perfectly
they all sound like average monster stories, i goto wood wendigo? i see something out my window WENDIGO??? I hear something WENDIGO? thats how litterally every single cryptid story ever goes.
sorry for toxic but
these reddit guys need to step up their story telling
@@jefferypointer7383 Agreed
I agree. but since I just needed some nice voice while I crochet, and to get a bit sleepy, I just ignored it.
Ya well hate implied 😂
Normally I have zero problems watching your videos even at night.
I couldn't. Got to 11:06 and told myself I'll come back to it tomorrow when it's light outside. Amazing atmosphere on the first story and the brief beginnings of the second.
Glad you like the soundtrack.
I'm glad we all seem to agree that the last one is dog water
Dog water? What kinda generation z shit is that?
@@Fhajadusisneb LMAO
@@Fhajadusisneb I've heard "trash water", but this is my first time hearing "dog water". I'm just guessing it means "dog piss".
Pretty fitting though for the subject matter, and flows a lot better than "wendigo water" would.
@@scottcantdance804 yeah but the wendigo has nothing to do with dogs it would make a lot more sense if we were talking about skin walkers
But even that is a stretch because skinwalkers are not necessarily dogs
last one seemed like they mixed up vampires with wendigos
love the cinematic feel with the extra audio bits near really dramatic parts! keep it up :)
Thank you, I shall!
okay I get excited to see any of your videos but as soon as I see anything with wendigo in the title my body goes into warp speed
That last story was polishing a turd. Don't get me wrong you're just about the nicest coat of paint a story can get but that was unsavable.
Yeah, sounded like a cheap B-movie plot... not even mentioning how much it has nothing to do with wendigos (these sounds more like stereotypical vampires) and the girl going full "I AM BATMAN!" on them...
@@brotquel1592 SHDHDHFHCJDJJDJ “I AM BATMAN@ 😭😭😭ejshfhid
It is only right to give folks praise,
But also tell them if they need to hear an unfortunate truth.
Otherwise,
People can't evolve.
I appreciate the story, thee narrator & all thee feed back given on this platform.
Peace
Yea. Lines could not get any cheesier
Amazing bro. I have been chased by a Wendigo and I know we are not all religious here, but I commanded it to leave in the ",Name of Jesus Christ," and I swear it screamed, and coward away. It was like a movie. It was unbelievable. It was amazing. Indiscovered their weakness!!!
I know you left this comment a while ago but just out of curiosity what’s the full story behind the Windygo chasing you? If you don’t mind of course and I hope you have a blessed life my friend✝️🙏🤍
One of my favorite channels, very calming
Thank you
Ok, ok, y this is crazy that this man doesn’t do some kind of narration, or anything tv, movies. I could listen to him forever!
Thank you, Sheila!
honestly the best youtuber i ever seen. the stories are always creept af and the music just adds the cherry one top (pls read this)
*Im sorry I just couldn’t... 🤣 I had to stop after ‘sOn Of WeNdIgO’ ☠️💀🤣*
don't talk to me or my wendigo son ever again
the best reading voice i ever heard
I love your wendigo stories
Thank you!
I like listening to stories that can sorta be believable. The last story was outrageously fake. Like "I'm driving through the rain. It's spooky. oh NO I ALMOST HIT AN ANTELLOPE. Okay, we good-is that someyhing in the woods? Oh NO, this is EXACTLY LIKE THE LAST TIME I WAS HERE....." and then this bizarre disconnected story. It's clearly fiction, which is fine if youre on reddit nosleep, but it's not what I come to these youtube channels for:/ if they were writing a book, the writing would have been fine. But if it's trying to pass for real, it was so unbelievable and cringy. I couldnt listen to the last 10 minutes.
I love your narrating! I hope you pick more "realistic" sounding stories in the future.
"ladidadia oooo spokie..... HOLY SHIT AN ANIMAL"
To tell the truth all the stories are fiction, even though I want to believe I hardly think that any story we heard in the youtube channels are real, but this one was just terrible, seems like the author took a monster and decided to write around it, but couldn't make it good.
The last one was so bad yet also hilarious 😂
Im glad i gave myself a break from this content, now i have a good few hours to hear your voice, keep up the good work
HEY MAN LOVE THE CONTENT KEEP IT UP WOOOO
Thanks!
This is the third time I'm listening to this audio, the stories are good but the narration is truly what makes the stories great. You are definitely one of the best on here sir, thanks for the nightmare fuel!
i kinda like the first story, i don't know how accurate it is but i like what it adds, the idea that wendigoes don't have antlers and use sticks to lure in hunters is really interesting to me
I dont understand how the deer horned depiction became mainstream. How does a skull faced deer symbolize canabilism and greed?
Researching might help answer that question. Unless it was rhetorical, then nevermind.
@@msmltvcktl I've tried researching but all I have been able to find are some movie references and "because deer live in that area" which I find to be poor reasoning given the nature of deer. If you or anybody reading this could shed some light on this subject I would greatly appreciate it!
Unless some movies over the years is enough to influence this, in which case I am just overthinking/overlooking a simple straightforward reason.
The movies (written by white people) are to blame for the depiction - which, as far as I know, is not the way these creatures were originally depicted in native folklore
What’s sad is that the best mainstream representation of a Wendigo I’ve ever seen in a show/movie is the one from a season 1 episode of Supernatural. It was man-sized, pale-skinned, and antler-less
@@somewizardguy1495 Only monster Supernatural ever did right. I loved the show but I hated seeing the monsters because they were just people with fangs instead of actual monsters
I’ve been listening to the stories all day.
Love your narration
Gosh I love your wendigo story’s! And those deep background noises made me tingle in fear. I LOVE IT. More of this🔥
Thank you! Glad you like the soundtrack
Man, that first guy's story was soooo lame, lol. Thanks for sharing my story, that was EPIC!
Thanks for sending it to me!
@Jerk simulator the first one.
@Jerk simulator It was a joke. No worries.
did the person who wrote the last story even know what a wendigo was? But still brilliantly narrated man!
bro, I love listening to stories like this and you narrate them very well. but I have to say, not much scares me but holy Molly supernatural shit scares me. I'm a believer in the fact that until you give me proper evidence something is fake or doesn't exist than who's to say it doesn't. so if shit like this happened I would die
I would like he said in the story curl up in my shell and die.
thank you sir for scaring me with your beautiful narrations!
fiddlesticks makes me wonder if it's the same demon who challenged Johnny with a golden fiddle
I love these stories- they always creep me put in the best ways!
First for my other top 10 favorite narrators.
Awesome!
Awwee you did Wendigo storieeees! I love them. They're so creepy.
Me too, Joanna! I have tons on this channel!
I absolutely love how you bring the emotions of these stories to life ^^
Keep it coming, you rock
As always great narration.
Love wendigo stories, so thanks for the update.
Your narration is awesome thanks for bringing us the stories!🎃
Nice job James
i love your narrations. you're honestly so damn underrated
You and CreepsMcPasta are the best narrators on UA-cam.
I frequently come back to this video just to hear the last story. It's so funny to me because all I can think of when I play it in mind is, "ya see, Chloe wanted the smoke. She claimed she had the munches but that's no excuse for her to start biting her boy toy. Being the absolute unit I am, I manifested a log and started laying the one two Mayweather on her. My progress in the gym showed as she stop biting him and turned her attention towards me. I will admit it was a fatal move on my end as I did in fact lose my life in the altercation. But I did look damn good doing it. Jesse was a true "girl boss"
my number 1 favorite youtube story teller
Just started listening to you channel...love the way you tell the stories...
Thank you
@@talesofhighstrangeness ...Quick Question..Have you ever heard of Deer People?
I have not
The only Hell & damnation is Life itself.
Sent chills down my spine….
I've been way outta wifi range the last few weeks. It's so refreshing to have a wealth of great stories to come back to.
Much love from Colorado
Love the content, I’m looking forward to more horror content to put on while I wrestle with sleep
Thank you!
Man, I love the way you read these stories. Number 1 cryptid narrator
Thank you!
I ❤️ all stories from your channel. But Wendigo stories are just unbeatable.
They certainly are the most popular!
@@talesofhighstrangeness yeah😁
Legendary said they were thinking of using mythologies such as this to expand the Monsterverse. Native American, Greek, Norse, Egyptian, all those stories of monsters were actually recordings of encounters with Super Species. afterall, the story starts with "Long ago, there were giants who's heads pierced the clouds" who's to say the Wendigo isn't a lost Titan?
are you suggesting that somehow all mythologies are connected in some way? If so that's really interesting and I believe your onto something.
Thanks. I like your story telling and very much appreciate that I'm not having constant ads during your video.
"I went out by myself in the woods at night to prove there were no spooks."
Okay so, even if what you saw WASN'T a monster, it could still be some kind of, potentially dangerous, wild animal. Cougars are hella' stealthy and active at night. While there's no need to be paranoid of going into the woods, you DO need to practice a base level of sense.
I still freak out when listening to this but I come back
Listening to u read stories home alone in the middle of the day really calms me down
Loving the channel. 100k next!
Me: This last story is as if written for a low-rated horror movie.
Also me: How did he survive to tell that story?
Still ain’t scarier than a mom in the morning with no coffee
Mhm
hot brown morning potion
But nothing is scarier than a toddler. That’s it. Just a toddler. Absolutely terrifying creatures.
@@EE-lu8ed From personal experience, your correct
Uuu thefiddlestick one was really spooky :3
You are a really good story teller! ❤
Thank you, Colleen!
I'll start bringing a lighter and a knife to every party I go to. The knife as a last resort weapon and the lighter in case I have to make a makeshift fire weapon. (molotov, hairspray flamethrower, etc.)
Love these stories 👌
perfect narration!
Once again great story's
Just found your channel and I love it. Finally found the perfect content to listen to before bed.
Thank you!
Great as always
The first story sounds suspiciously similar to the real life story of the Roanoke colony in North Carolina.
Awesome video keep up the good work👍
I loved the added ambience music in between. It’s something new and fun.
“Something about Chloe made me unsettled”
:(
last one was written like a cliche horror flick
So everyone knows the first story of the wendigo is how the wendigo actually is said to look like and how it originated and acts the deer head and antlers is a 1950s movie thing and unfortunately it stuck
Nearly shit my pants at school listening to this. Expect the last one. Still gas video. 💯💯
Rainy day, bowl of soup and your narrations about wendigos keep up the good work man🤙🏼
that last one threw me for a loop. good story tho
underrated channel
Man that last one was... technically a story (great narration though)
Another great video. Have you ever thought about doing one on aquatic cryptids/supernatural events?
Best horror narrator on the entire platform. Carry, James(?) Yeah, James (??)
The best so far!
Thank you!
Story 2 Response: It probably let him run, so he could bring more people to it. Or it let him go so it could follow and see where more food is.
Very good storytelling
When I heard he say "fiddlesticks" I felt a rush through my body... the demons from Runeterra pierced the veil... they are here...
Really?
Absolutely love your videos! Thanks for all the hard work!
People complaining about that last story, I just don't understand why.
It's a great comedy!
Awesome been waiting for your return my friend
The first story of the Fiddlesticks son of wendigo, I like the idea at the end where the guy saying that he doesn't naturally have antlers, and it uses sticks and antlers to luer Hunters. Now in a way that's like visual manipulation as in it's making you see something that's not exactly there ish, Fiddlesticks is making the hunters think he's like a deer or buck but in reality he's not but it's tricking the Hunters minds into manipulating and making there eyes think he's something else so it's easier for him to kill the hunters, and that is incredibly smart and the coolest idea ever.
Love it , any ware wolf stories
Another great video. Thanks for the consistency!
I love your voice and I love this channel because there were no background music.
But what ever you do i will love your narration.
I will listen to you.
I’ve been haunted in my younger years but i’ve never dealt with a cryptid. I’ve lived in Alaska and Montana and colorado, driven to northern virginia and the scariest drive was from Alaska to colorado. The yukon is terrifying but british columbia is the most gorgeous place on earth. Kansas and New mexico are very boring to drive through. I wonder why i was so bothered by ghosts and shadow people and demons haunted me until i got married but cryptids never messed with me as a child and teen always in the woods in mississippi, washington state and montana ( and afghanistan, there is some shit there). It’s weird.
Guy who wrote the second story ripped off the Basil H. Johnston description and thought no one would notice
Great video!
The third story gets a lot of flack, but I think the writer did swell. There’s always room for everyone to improve, and a bit of encouragement is in order.
We’ll done to all the writers, and thanks for submitting!
The second one spooked the duck outta me
Just love your UA-cam channel
Thank you!
serious man...that LAST ...YARN,,,,WHAT A LOAD OFF ..SHIT YA MUST HAVE BEEN STONED ,,,PICKING ,,,,THAT,,,LOL...
Thank you for the stories
You’re welcome! Thanks!
Excellent content as always
Thanks!
