    Transcript Excerpts:
“Do you believe in Wendigo's", I asked my mum later that evening while she was making dinner in the kitchen. My mum looked up at me sharply as though pricked with a needle. First of all, she was already surprised that I will be hanging around in the kitchen while she made dinner. I never did that. I was more like the son who spent most of his time in his room on his phone or playing video games. So, seeing me comfortably seated in the kitchen was an unusual development. Then hearing me ask about Wendigos threw her off balance and she glared at me suspiciously like I wasn’t okay.
“Boy, you mean the mythical creatures with horns and bones and all, said to feed on human flesh?" She asked me, that’s if I remember correctly her exact question. My mum answered me saying she believes in the existence of anything, whether ghosts, demons, or mythical creatures. She said if the world could exist, then other things equally could. Her answer didn’t quite sit right me. But this time, I didn’t argue. I let it go.
The creek had a secluded section with electric fishes that glowed in the dark. Before the creek ordeal in the day, I had promised my sisters that I will be going to the creek at night to get some pictures of the glowing fishes. Within me, I was already skeptical about going to the creek again, but my sisters kept reminding me about the pictures I had to take. At some point, I got angry at myself for feeling like a little kid scared of monsters hiding under his bed or lurking in the closet. I stood looking at the mirror giving myself two small slaps, reminding myself that what I saw was a figment of my imaginations. And to fully convince myself, I set out for the creeks with nothing but a torchlight and my phone. A decision I still regret to this moment. Sometime around 7 pm, I wasn’t quite sure of the exact time. I had put on my jacket as it was slightly chilly and set out into the woods. My heart was racing but I tried so hard to quieten it. It failed anyway. I threaded the woods like I was going for a jog. Partly because I was afraid of the shadows, and the other part was I wanted to look unbothered.
I forced my mind to focus on every other thing but the fact that I was out at night, alone in the woods, and possibly going to be mauled by something I wasn’t sure of. My tactic was working but suddenly, I heard a twig snap. I knew it wasn’t from me. I had heard it from a distance. I wanted to ignore it but I also heard what sounded like the ruffling of dried leaves. I stopped in my tracks and looked around, even though I was too scared to. The hair on my body stood straight like someone electrocuted. The same eerie and cold feeling I had felt during the day settled in me again, weighing at my chest. I couldn’t quite explain it but the feeling was like I had knots in my stomach.

Honestly. It's such a bastardization of the source material. They sound like ghouls or something tbh. It feels like the writer just tastelessly tacked on the term in an attempt to make the story more exotic.

I thought the second story sounded suspicious until the last one. Wow. Both are pretty clearly from people who ONLY know about wendigos through movies and games.
Here's a writing tip, boys and girls. Our memories are imperfect and brief. Long rambling descriptions with too much detail sound fake. Metaphors and similes are fine but don't use too many and avoid cliches. Don't have your main character accurately guessing other people's thoughts and feelings like the last story. Describe facial expressions by their physical features to avoid making your character sound like they're reading people's minds.

I like listening to stories that can sorta be believable. The last story was outrageously fake. Like "I'm driving through the rain. It's spooky. oh NO I ALMOST HIT AN ANTELLOPE. Okay, we good-is that someyhing in the woods? Oh NO, this is EXACTLY LIKE THE LAST TIME I WAS HERE....." and then this bizarre disconnected story. It's clearly fiction, which is fine if youre on reddit nosleep, but it's not what I come to these youtube channels for:/ if they were writing a book, the writing would have been fine. But if it's trying to pass for real, it was so unbelievable and cringy. I couldnt listen to the last 10 minutes.
I love your narrating! I hope you pick more "realistic" sounding stories in the future.

Legendary said they were thinking of using mythologies such as this to expand the Monsterverse. Native American, Greek, Norse, Egyptian, all those stories of monsters were actually recordings of encounters with Super Species. afterall, the story starts with "Long ago, there were giants who's heads pierced the clouds" who's to say the Wendigo isn't a lost Titan?

Okay so, even if what you saw WASN'T a monster, it could still be some kind of, potentially dangerous, wild animal. Cougars are hella' stealthy and active at night. While there's no need to be paranoid of going into the woods, you DO need to practice a base level of sense.

The first story of the Fiddlesticks son of wendigo, I like the idea at the end where the guy saying that he doesn't naturally have antlers, and it uses sticks and antlers to luer Hunters. Now in a way that's like visual manipulation as in it's making you see something that's not exactly there ish, Fiddlesticks is making the hunters think he's like a deer or buck but in reality he's not but it's tricking the Hunters minds into manipulating and making there eyes think he's something else so it's easier for him to kill the hunters, and that is incredibly smart and the coolest idea ever.

I think the description of a wendigo varies from tribe to tribe, some describe it as an extremely thin man and others do describe it as a humanoid creature with a skull of a deer for head, I think it depends from where is the myth, also I think that not necessary they are winter creatures, but that last part I'm not so sure, maybe they sleep most part of the year and go out on winter but occasionally go around? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@@laica01, from Wikipedia: 'At odds with its portrayals in twentieth-century and twenty-first-century settler culture, in indigenous representations the wendigo is described as a giant humanoid with a heart of ice; a foul stench or sudden, unseasonable chill might precede its approach.[2] Possibly due to longtime identification by Europeans with their own superstitions about werewolves,[3] for example as mentioned in The Jesuit Relations below, Hollywood film representations often label human/beast hybrids featuring antlers or horns with the "wendigo" name, but such animal features do not appear in the original indigenous stories.'

    • @laica01
      @laica01 3 роки тому

@@johnnyswatts Guess it make sense, since most stories do depict them as skinny humanoids, personally I like more the deer head description, but wouldn't be surprise if it would be another creature on it's own. I think that indeed there is a creature in European folklore that is more like that. If I even remember correctly I believe that the Lesheen of the Witcher series is based on it, not sure if it had the deer head or not originally. But it make sense that the Europeans settlers would bring their own stories and mix them up with the native ones.
But luckily both creatures are fiction, if not the woods would be even more terrifying.

bro, I love listening to stories like this and you narrate them very well. but I have to say, not much scares me but holy Molly supernatural shit scares me. I'm a believer in the fact that until you give me proper evidence something is fake or doesn't exist than who's to say it doesn't. so if shit like this happened I would die
I would like he said in the story curl up in my shell and die.
thank you sir for scaring me with your beautiful narrations!

I frequently come back to this video just to hear the last story. It's so funny to me because all I can think of when I play it in mind is, "ya see, Chloe wanted the smoke. She claimed she had the munches but that's no excuse for her to start biting her boy toy. Being the absolute unit I am, I manifested a log and started laying the one two Mayweather on her. My progress in the gym showed as she stop biting him and turned her attention towards me. I will admit it was a fatal move on my end as I did in fact lose my life in the altercation. But I did look damn good doing it. Jesse was a true "girl boss"

The third story gets a lot of flack, but I think the writer did swell. There’s always room for everyone to improve, and a bit of encouragement is in order.
We’ll done to all the writers, and thanks for submitting!
