  • The Nike Metcon 8 is the latest cross-training shoe to debut in Nike's popular Metcon shoe line.
    The Nike Metcon 8 has been highly anticipated due to the global staggered release of this model and the overall popularity of the Nike Metcon 7. I was excited to put my Nike Metcon 8 through their first workout.
    In this Nike Metcon 8 First Impressions video, I'm going to do an unboxing, first workout, try-on, and share my first workout thoughts.
    0:00 Nike Metcon 8 Unboxing
    3:52 First Workout In Metcon 8
    5:19 Post Workout Breakdown
    8:38 Nike Metcon 8/10k Subs Giveaway
    After only one workout in the Nike Metcon 8, I like this shoe, and it does a decent job across the board - just like the Nike Metcon 7.
    Honestly, it feels very similar to the Nike Metcon 7, so if you liked or disliked that model, I'd suggest using that as a gauge for investing in the Metcon 8 if you don't want to wait for my full Nike Metcon 8 review.
    There are things I like about the Nike Metcon 8 and a few things I'm not that fond of.
    I'm excited to get more sessions with this model before publishing my full Nike Metcon 8 review.
    I still DO NOT know the Nike Metcon 8 release dated in the United States, but once I get them, I'll pin a comment below this video!
    If you have additional questions on the Nike Metcon 8, drop a comment below or reach out to me personally via Instagram (@jake_boly or @that_fit_friend)!

    I know people that are absolutely obsessed with metcons and get every new model, along with custome ones (there are some pretty sweet ones out there), but Nike has always just been very narrow for me. Don't get me wrong, I've probably had 40 to 50 pairs of shoes for the gym that were Nike, almost exclusively for a long time, but this was before I knew there were training shoes. I would have running shoes, basketball shoes, casual daily wear shoes. I was sucked into the branding lol.
    As for this model, aside from that metcon branding on the inside, they look very subtle, which I like a lot. I'm not one for the flashy colorways. Can't wait for the full review, even with no intentions of buying them, I'll watch the video, hit that like button and post for that algorithm

    Great intro, Jake! I've gone minimalist, so while the Xero 360s and Vivo Primus 3s are my current go tos for training, I like to keep my ear to the ground on "traditional" shoes for those days when you feel you need more cushioning or support. That said, looking forward to full review. Thanks!

    I went to the Nike store to compare metcon 8 with 7, and with my wider feet, it felt more comfortable in 8. I didn't want 7 before because they were to tight around the foot, but 8 feel better in that regard, to the point of me considering to buy them as my main training shoe. I’ve had a couple different metcon models 3, 5, 6, which I generally liked them all… then I bought a pair of the metcon reacts and have never looked back at a regular metcon model. Tried the 7’s on in store and as someone who never used the hyperlift insert, I hated how the 7’s felt… the metcon turbo 2 though, that is an incredible shoe and I can’t see why someone would buy the 8’s when you can get a pair of turbo 2’s for not much more money. Can't wait for the review. I've currently only ever had two different pairs of Crossfit shoes: Nano X1 and Metcon 7. I liked both, had the Reebok's first, but strongly preferred the Metcons with the exception of running in them. Thought they were really good for everything Crossfit, especially lifting, but horrible to run in. So bad to the point where any WODs with running I have to consider using my runners for even short distances. While I'm a midfoot striker, I'm a heavy set guy so I need more than what the Metcons offer. Also, I used to occasionally get foot cramps doing burpees in the 7s.
    Reason I comment now is if the 8s are the same there is no reason to get them. My 7s are starting to rip on the soles so I need to make a change. Been considering the Haze Trainers too.

    • @thatfitfriend
      @thatfitfriend  2 роки тому

      8s are verrrrry similar, however, I do think the upper will help with the mesh durability issues that some lifters ran into around the 7's toe box. Tough to say, obviously, since it's still so new, but it seems better based on my tests.
      Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with the Haze or the 8 if you wanted to stick with Nike.

The rubber sole on the heel rubs the wall with HSPU and I still use my aging Metcon 5 for squat cleans and snatches due to shoulder and elbow mobility issues. The Adidas The Total has a zero drop, but mayyyyy work in the context. Def worth looking into just in case as an option.

      @@thatfitfriend You know what, I didn’t really give them enough of a try BUT they felt oddly less ‘blocky’ than the 8 due to that hyperlift and insole piece you mentioned. I preferred the breathability of the 6 upper and the choice of adding the hyper lift (biggest pro in my opinion and push’s the trainers versatility appeal!)
      Although I thought the lace lock was such a great idea along with the enhanced grip for rope climbs.
      For me if they blended the 6 and the 7, wow that’s magic just waiting to happen right there!

    Hello, random question. I'm looking to get my first lifting shoe and I think I've narrowed my choice to the legacy lifter 2s. Hows the sizing? I don't have any new shoes to compare to. I wear size 9.5 new balances, but have a pair of old Nike walking shoes that are 11s that fit me...

    I own a pair of nano x and a pair of metcons 7. When it comes to looks I do def prefer the nikes. The nanos make my feet look huge. Ive seen many athletes running on their forefoot and when I run on the curved threamill I can run well on the forefoot. But as soon as I get to run outside it gets more difficult lol because the metcons arent made for running "normally". Now when it comes to the looks i actually do not mind the metcon writing on the inside at all, to me its more so the nike logo with that weird waving that looks cheap asf. hahahaha. I feel like it also depends a lot on your feet when it comes to metcons 7 like what do you do when your caput metatarsi (or the place where your toes start) end behind the cushioning ... thats messed up to me. I wish they made them a little larger in the front. So the fact that they might be a bit more flexible around that place sounds great to me. Also My metcons 7 were also as expensive...

    In the Metacon 5 and 6 I feel that the shoe is too low in the heel or rather in the Achilles tendon, so it isn’t holding my foot good enough… is there a difference in the 8 compared to the 5 and 6 models, and is it different from the 7?
    And I like the Metacon 8 that in the personal design you can write something and it appears on the outside of the shoe and not 🤩on the back

  • @MadelnMachines
    @MadelnMachines 2 роки тому

    I'm most interested in foot width. Did you find the 7s break in a bit width ways? I would get the 7s in my regular size 9 despite them being a little shorter than normal and the width is just about ok. Any narrower or shorter and I think i'd size up half. I want to order some custom ones as I love the purple and yellow - I think I need to make sure I get the sizing right first though.
