I have worn metcon 7 (for lifting wods) and nano x2 (for cardio wods) before receiving my metcon 8s last week. I think the 8s are a perfect mix between the two. Absolutely love them! I think you were a bit harsh on them, since in my opinion the 7s were great for lifting but absolutely sucked for anything running related. The 8s are an alright wod running shoe. Would never do more than 800m in any workout shoe, but the 8s are fine for that (as were the nano x2, but they were not great for lifting imo). Also I much prefer the look of the 8s compared to the 7, as the 7 looked very bulky on me (and a lot of other women imo)...
Same i have two pair of 4s. Bought the 8s and instantly returned them-way uglier and no where near as good for crossfit type stuff. Metcon 8s are not as good for sprinting or lateral movement as the 4s...mainly designed as a weight lifting shoe now
Mine came the other day and I immediately took them off and filed for a return. They are so narrow it hurts. The sole is also so hard it’s like walking on wood. How do you guys wear these?
Waouh ! very nice review, thank you very much for the video. One very question ... if you had the choice for only 1 pair of shoes for Crossfit training, would you choose Metcon 8 or Nobull Trainer plus ? Thank you very much for your feedback
I used to use the Metcon 4 and my CM size was 25,5. What do you think should be my size for Metcon 8? I tried metcon 7 and it was better using the 26,5 cm.
Metcon 8 - I am new to working out and have recently started going to the gym for overall fitness. I have flat feet, and I'm wondering if this is beneficial for me?
How do these compare to the 6’s as far as impact/cushion? I hate running in the 6, but can’t lift in the vapor max. I really need to find a Nike shoe that can be used for everything in the gym and running up to a mile.
I'm just starting lifting having been a long time trail runner. I'm looking at these Vs the Adidas dropset. I'm wondering if you can offer a comparison for a newbie like me?
I was really looking forward for these, but i travel a lot and usually need to stick with just a pair of shoes. Would you recommend the 7s or should i look somewhere else?
These would be easier to deal with day to day if you were traveling, but that would sound brutal depending on how much walking you plan on doing. I'd probably go with Strike Haze, Nano X2 or RAD.
Honestly, I wouldn't recommend the Metcon 7 for CrossFit to anyone. These shoes are completely unsuitable for running and movements like box jumps. They have a ridiculously hard sole - practically plastic. Personally, I am not satisfied with them and would rather opt for the Nano X3.
Need a new shoe Im upgrading from a Retcon 5. Should I go for X2, Retcon 7 or 8? I'm getting onto strength based lifting program with some form of condition.
Nano X1s are one of the worst CrossFit shoes of all time so definitely not that. Metcon 8 would probably be my pick over 4s since I think the midsole feels more consistent but it’s pretty close.
@@AMRAP Thanks. I'm going to try them on in the near future when I already have the budget. Question: do you plan to make a video of the top gym/hiit shoes for wide feet?
I absolutely loathe this shoe! No ground feel, bad stability, every step feels off, my toes get crushed. I haven't got one nice thing to say about this shoe.
I walked 2 miles to get my second covid shot wearing 1-day old 7s and I ended up with really bad shin splints, and once the vaccine after-effects kicked in, I ended up having shin splint-locked ankles for nearly 4 days. HORRIBLE experience. I don't even wear them casually because of that experience.GREAT in the gym though. just not something to be worn casually. Watching your review about the 8s being even more rigid gave me flashbacks to last year lol
You are the definitive guide for shoes. I have followed your recommendations for years and you have never steered me wrong!!
Thank you! I appreciate that!

Just had to return my custom metcon 8s always fit size 10 in Nikes. But there was heel slipping so gonna re order 1/2 size smaller!
Fantastic review as always Joel! Gonna keep my 7s around and save ma money for the X2 fronings ehehe. Take care and thanks for the work!
I love your camera quality and lighting. I really enjoyed this review!
I wasn't sold on the 8s. I didn't care for the looks and decided to refer people to Eastbay to get 7s on sale. I love my 7s.
Still rocking the Metcon 4s and I think every successor has been getting uglier every other generation...
True

Interesting and complete review, as usual. Thank you 👏

Do you have a review on the flux shoes anywhere?
Nah, I don't work out in mine. Maybe I'll do a review if I get bored though.
I want them to go back to the metcon 5’s or 6’s. Ive been through 5-8 and to me they are getting worse. 😢
How do these compare to the 6’s as far as impact/cushion? I hate running in the 6, but can’t lift in the vapor max. I really need to find a Nike shoe that can be used for everything in the gym and running up to a mile.
6 have better cushion and are better for running. Try zoom metcon turbo or metcon free 5.
Hey brother I know you own the nano 2's. How would you compare the sizing on these vs. those? I've never owned a pair of metcons

If you have to walk in rain a bit, does this shoe leak in water the same way Turbos did?
Any information on the new romaleos 5 and legacy 3?
How is the sizing
Hey! Thanks for the review. Is there a detachable sole for squatting movements, like previous versions? Is it easy to take it out and reattach it etc?
I was really looking forward for these, but i travel a lot and usually need to stick with just a pair of shoes. Would you recommend the 7s or should i look somewhere else?

Do you recommend getting these or waiting a bit for the TYR’s?
If you have 7s or find a deal on them, Id pick those up in the meantime. Otherwise wait for the TYRs at this point.
Am I the only one that never likes Nike anything? There stuff never fits me right whether it's shoes, shirts or whatever.
I want an elevated heel for squat. I have the 6’s and use the hyper lift insert for the 8 mm raise. What should I get?
Nano x3 will get you up to 7mm. Tyr cxt1 is 9mm. You can continue to use your hyper lifts in the metcon 8 or 9 too.
Nike makes Metcons like Apple makes Iphones. One year it’s in style the next it’s not. Just keeps on going.
Can you tell which one is better between metcon 8 and nano x3
I prefer nano
Need a new shoe Im upgrading from a Retcon 5. Should I go for X2, Retcon 7 or 8? I'm getting onto strength based lifting program with some form of condition.
If you’re mainly doing strength with just some conditioning, get Metcon 7. If you’re kinda balanced between the two, maybe try Nano x2.
Metcon 4 vs 8 vs Nano X1 and why?
Nano X1s are one of the worst CrossFit shoes of all time so definitely not that. Metcon 8 would probably be my pick over 4s since I think the midsole feels more consistent but it’s pretty close.
@@AMRAP why do you say the X1 are the worst? Do you mean for heavy loads?
@@cu806 they’re horrible to lift in because of the way the toe is shaped. I would just about use anything over them.
i'm still using metcon5 from release, should i take 7s or 8s?
I would try to find 7s on sale unless there was a colorway of the 8 you like
What jump rope do you use at min 11?
That’s the Reyllen jump rope
Guess it’s all in the eye of the beholder. I think the 8s look a lot better 🤷🏻♂️
Man I really wish they'd make a Free Metcon 5..
They did
Are they recommended for wide feet?
I wouldn’t say they’re a good choice for wide feet but if you want to try, go half up.
@@AMRAP Thanks. I'm going to try them on in the near future when I already have the budget. Question: do you plan to make a video of the top gym/hiit shoes for wide feet?
@@periteu have you tried them out yet? I'm looking to get new training kicks but I have wide feet. Perfect size is 11.5 wide for me.
I just picked some up and really like them. Size 13. I have a notoriously difficult time finding shoes wide enough to fit and these are OK for me.
I absolutely loathe this shoe! No ground feel, bad stability, every step feels off, my toes get crushed. I haven't got one nice thing to say about this shoe.
eh, I personally like the branding, do away with nothing.

Men shoes on Nike website have dropped
They must have been trolling me because they dropped the same day I put up the review lol
