I will admit it hurt slightly that it was short, But what could they add for it to not be filler, it's a hard line to land on, you gotta cover everything. I also think we gotta be slightly patient, they could very easily make the next 3 episodes a bit longer. The story may fit better, they may have wanted to keep episodes on a similar trend, not wanting too many different story arcs per episode, I watched an interview with Rick, he said episode 5 is his favorite.
I personally think if an episode is this short then they might as well release the whole season in one go. It was good but I don’t know if a whole week of waiting is worth 28 minutes.

You guys really need to forget about the movies. The movies only really kept the character names but changed pretty much everything else. In the movies they make the pearls the whole purpose of the movie, in the books the pearls do exist but not nearly as big as the movies. Also, by the second movie, they were pretty much already taking events that occurred in the 4th and 5th book. Almost like they knew a 3rd movie wouldn’t be made.
Agreed, it kills me that there are people more focused on how it compares to the movie rather than the actual source material. Also this episode shows that material is still being used, just in a different way and time than the book which makes it actually more refreshing for those of us that know the books cover to cover.
I thought the movie was a great movie until I read the book a few months after I saw it and I love the books a lot more (I still like the movie as an individual thing but as Percy Jackson the series is a lot better)
Medusa's not a major boss fight in any interpretation. She's just a lady who turns you to stone if you look at her. In the myth, she's killed while she's asleep. If you replaced her with a trap, it would do the same damage. The monsters are meant to be dangerous, but not more than getting hit by a car or infected with a virus. The only thing that makes them special is that they are actively trying to kill you. They're not boss fights though. (Edit : I do wish the episodes were longer, but it does feel like reading a middle grade book.)
This episode marks the point in which the show and the movie will really diverge, because the movies were only kinda faithful to the books until Medusa. After that? Completely different. The show is going for more accuracy regarding who they meet and what they face, Echidna being one of those that didn't make it to the movie. It's good for a change to see Percy lose bc it grounds him and prepares him, some fights he just can't win
“What’s she got in that bag?” “Chihuahua, or something.” _“Chimera,_ dear, not a Chihuahua. It’s an easy mistake to make.” Had to be done, especially since the show didn’t. 😆
Percy kills thousands of monsters and the earliest ones are the most episodic. They need to set up the prophecy AND reveal the big bad before stakes get truly epic. I don’t see a reason for them to really spend time with early monsters when that hasn’t happened and the first quest is really introductory to the world before deeper diving into “fate”.
Right Plus it is shown that they are adding non-book scenes. So there's do much more development that's to come without even mentioning 1-chapter monsters
medusa isn’t really that big of a character lol. honestly i feel like the pacing is because it’s the first season, and hopefully as they continue the series they’ll give more time. which will definitely have to happen.
Yeah and season two is still being questioned by Disney right now they haven’t given any approvals yet, so they obviously don’t have the freedom of putting their own timings into the show even if the author is behind it it’s not in his full control
Blake is correct with Disney series run time. Whether it's Star Wars, Marvel or this show, the network run their shows like a commercial networks that need to run in 30 minutes, 60 minutes or 90 minutes with advertisement to fit in a time slot. Disney is a streaming service. It should not compromise the story telling or artistic choice by limiting the run time of its series. If a series can be told in 4 episodes or needed 12 episodes, let it be.
This is my favourite episode so far. I like the pacing here and I feel there is some cool character moments. No scene stands out to me as weaker than the others
I agree, i think I also enjoyed it more since we are starting to develop their friendships/relationships more. I love their interaction together as a group so far!
Regarding run times, you guys need to bear in mind that the three leads in this series are children, and consequently restricted on how long they can film each day. If they pick up the PJO series and film all five books, working days should lengthen as the actors get older.
Th animals that make up th chimera are alw th same, a lion, a goat n a snake, it's their dispositions in th anatomy of th monster that change over time; in its first incarnation in 'pj n th greek heroes' th chimera is th size of a mammoth, w/ th front body of a lion, th back of a dragon w/ a snake for a tail, n a goat's head on its back , at th junction point of th 2 halves of th body. Not sure if anyone has said this yet, but kids shows have always had shorter run times. I'm 39 and when I was a kid, the majority of shows for kids were 30 minutes including lots of commercials and most sitcoms or family shows were also 30 minutes whereas adult shows such as dramas were usually an hour including commercials. Kids typically have shorter attention spans. Not to mention, this show is also geared towards people with ADHD (since all the demigods are said to have it) and when you have ADHD, your attention span is usually even shorter 🤷 (For context, I am an Autistic person with several ADHD friends).

Though after season 1 it improved significantly. So I’m willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. With hopes that it improves as we move forward

Grover has shown plenty of nervousness in each of the first 4 episodes. The few times he didn't seem nervous were when he was shoveling poop at camp or when being grumpy after he was woken up from sleep.
In the 1st episode, sure. Ever since episode 2, it comes across as worry to me, not nervousness. There are also other things, like we're told in episode 2 he picks at his horns when he's nervous, but we don't see him do it. I just want to see more of what he can do before I can make a definitive assessment of his character. @@Lupin788

The movies changed so much and by movie 2 they wrecked the entire story. So comparing the show to the movies is idiotic
*please react best action and emotional movie RRR (2022) I highly recommend you, it's has so many action scenes that you never seen before I'm sure, FROM the RRR movie a song has won Oscar song name "naatu naatu"*
*Guys, if you want your channel to grow very fast then start giving Reactions on Indian movies, songs, trailers and UA-cam vlogs etc. Then within a few months your subscribers will be in millions, believe me, I'm 100% sure, because the population of India is 1.4 billion, and 70% of the people like entertainment related content and half of the population of India understands English.*
*Many foreigners are reacting to Indian content, and now they have millions of subscribers, for example these are 2 channels "Cinadesi (2.25 million) & Our Stupid Reactions (1.31 million)", if you agree you can start with"Animal" Trailer.*
