Notice those “screws” holding the stupidly impossible-to-open engine cover are only removable with T-35 torx security bits. Yes, those spark plugs are more secure than your wallet for some reason. Once you access the spark plug bay, you will need a 14 mm 12 point spark plug removal tool or socket, preferably magnetic. Your american tools won't be compatible at this point. Worth remembering is that the order of the cylinders are 1, 2, 3, 4, from the frontal human-license plate-engine bay point of view. It is unbelievable to me that a company as big as BMW/Mini just conveniently forgot to put a label on these cylinders, anywhere on the manual or etched on the engine, it must save them money for sure.
