  • The Sound Couple heads off on a weekend roadtrip to a casino for the first time! With all of the functions of a digital board, it's always good to keep pushing yourself and stay up on all of the features it provides. Since this was a rare two nighter, we decided to break out the SD Cards and check in with the system through Worx Control. Bart is reminded that not all SD cards are the same, but demonstrates through troubleshooting that it's not always possible to remember everything but by building a knowledge base of familiarity with your gear, you can navigate through it!...or have the opportunity to try it again!

    Hi loving the videos glad I came across them during my research on cdl12ps I now own a few but I see a lot of people complaining about them clipping if whenever you have time would love to see you talk about the indication of input signal clipping, limiting and amp overload on these speakers

      We do show talk about this a bit in this video with a comparison to our 328's: ua-cam.com/video/iK-WH0wueoM/v-deo.html. We would agree that they do seem to be conservative on the clip. We don't ignore it, but we use them how we need to and not get hung up on it. We have used ours hard for some time now and none of them have had any problems.

    I like working the multi-day events; I don't get many bookings for them myself, I perhaps did 6 of them this year. I think we all make the odd blooper here and there. Last evening I had intentionally muted the DCAs, but was still getting sound out-front. It turns out I had the individual channels of the drums routed to the left and the right as well as through the drum groups, so when I muted the DCAs (the groups were tied to the DCAs), the mute had no impact on the drums. I haven't done a lot of parallel drum group mixing, but I'm giving it a shot to see how it works for me...
    The ChamSys QuickQ consoles are great consoles; I use Chamsys MagicQ running that from a touchscreen laptop, it works very well for me. I can see why Stacy likes her tablet though.

    I have found a “Full format of the Sd cards using the formatting tool is preferable to a “Quick format”. Also if it’s been a while since you used the cards it is advisable to reformat them as it appears the formatting doesn’t remain on the card forever. The Save and Close is a game changer to keep your recording on the card. Good job SC.

    Allen & Heath had that issue recording to USB stick. They fixed it on an update. Now when you do a shutdown, it does a CLOSE on the recording. It caught me a few times!

    Seems like the gig was pretty simple once you finally got the location and offloading spots figured out. We had a Presonus32 at our previous church, but I did not play with the SD card. (Back to the manual) Nice gig; thanks for sharing!

    • @thesoundcouple
      @thesoundcouple  11 місяців тому +1

      Thanks! Yes, hopefully we showed that process. Gigs are much easier once you know what you don't know. I was concerned that we left too late, but ended up having plenty of time. We had another casino type gig not long ago that was not that way, but ended up being a hurry up and wait!

    The Chamsys Quick Q20 is a great desk with 10x playback faders and 2 universes (the QuickQ10 that you used on has 1x playback and 1 universe IIRC). It really intuitive and easy to use but not as flexible or powerful as Avolites Titan. As mentioned the QuickQ works well with an iPad for remote working and can be used with a free Magic Q visualiser for remote set up.

    • @johnmcquay82
      @johnmcquay82 8 місяців тому

      Agree 100% with this. I would say the same if comparing it to MagicQ console or software, which is what I use. I'd be happy to use a QuickQ, but for the few shows a year I do where I have a bigger lighting rig, the QuickQ doesn't offer enough universes. I like to pull out the stops when doing the bigger shows, so I'll do things like pixel mapping across multi-element fixtures, which you simply cannot do in QuickQ.
      I did get to use an Avolites Titan this summer; I didn't get to do any programming on it, but I did think it was an awesome busking console.

    Hey Bart and Stacy, thanks for all of the great videos. I have watched most of them and I have heard Bart comment about pricing/quoting and charging the right amount. Do you have a video where you break down how you quote gig's?

    • @thesoundcouple
      @thesoundcouple  10 місяців тому

      Most of the prices are based on what the bands production budget is and we will negotiate from there. We take our experiences to set expectations on what will work and most of the time, it will align with our regular clients.

      Thanks for the response. I will soon be stepping into a larger PA and light system and doing somwhat similar gigs to what you two are doing. I have been in and around the industry for 20+ years now. I am based in Somerset WI and hope to get the chance to meet you both in the future, possibly even refer one another. Let me know if that is of interest to you. Thank you again for all the great videos, and knowledge that you have shared. Sincerly, Caleb

    It is generally recommended to format SD cards in the device you’re using it in if they are able (and most are)

    • @walteralexander1956
      @walteralexander1956 11 місяців тому +2

      PreSonus does not support formatting or even deleting files from the SD.
      Also the reason it does support SDXC is because of licensing fee that they don't want to pass on to customers.

      @@ramdynebix I agree... honestly I am went PreSonus for all my gear, and it is one of the cons how they handle SD recording and playback. Especially the difference between the console and the rack versions. But honestly with other issues that occur I just record with a DAW over USB.

    What’s the largest Capacity SD Card you can use in the Studio Live Mixer?

  • @DEWAYNE552
    @DEWAYNE552 10 місяців тому

    All I have is the 32r mixer.
    Unfortunately, individual tracks are not recorded, just a stereo file is created. Have you tried recording on your SL32r?
    I have recorded my break music on the SD card and that is very handy because it can be stopped and started from the iPad. Choosing songs individually is not happening and that’s a bummer, but there is enough control for me to continue to use it for break music.
    I do record, I just have to do it on the MacBook using Capture. If the MacBook wifi is ON and the same network as the iPad, I can stop/Start the Remote Capture as well on the iPad. Both appear.

    Why don’t u set the main board by stage n just use iPad to eq?? That way ur not taking up Soave where ppl are seating? Just curious

    • @thesoundcouple
      @thesoundcouple  10 місяців тому

      We use our rack mixer on many gigs. In clubs, we tend to default to a console if they have a designated spot so we aren't taking away a customer seating....this was the spot they designated for consoles...we weren't taking up any customer spots. Little did we know, that wouldn't even be an issue at this place.

    The SD cards need to be formatted to Fat 32 protocol. If they are formatted to any other protocol, the board will not recognize them.
