  • I test ride a TRIUMPH TIGER ADVENTURE XC 1215cc
    My opinions, walk around and footage of the test ride.
    STRONG/ADULT LANGUAGE!
    Formerly "TIGER VLOGGER", following the untimely demise of the big green beast here is TheTripleTwister to take the mantle and "Sprint" with it! Motovlogging on my 2003 Triumph Sprint ST 955i in and around Northampton. Occasional trips around the UK, general hooliganism and other craziness involving bikes and bikers!

    The camera work in this video is amazing. At no point can you see the owner of Triumph Wellingborough pointing that shotgun at you! Top job

    This may be a bit late.....
    I've got a 1200 Explorer (not XC) and its awsome!
    I tried the BMW GS LC and it was not a nice experience for me, Felt like a tractor!
    I had many bikes inc 650 Versys and a 1050 Sprint and this is by far the best, rides lovely, soaks up the miles and super comfortable. Even had a blast off road'ish and was great fun! Bin'd it in a field and engine bars completely protected it, not even a scratch. Was easy enough to pick up myself too.
    Its worth the Money!!!

    When I was looking for a bike I had a look at Tiger explorer and I liked it. At the dealer I went to they had a military green one, it looked really nice.

    That looks like it could a great bike for long journeys! I've never ridden a bike with ABS. Must be reassuring to know that it's there to help correct lock-ups.

    No, I hated getting back on the sprint but 5K miles later I had gotten into it and was enjoying it. Sadly the sprint engine blew yesterday so im bike less for a while.

    Looks like it is fitted with the factory low seat.

    Its about right for my size, Its SO easy when your moving. Much easier to steer/manouvre than a sportsbike I think.

    Nice vid. Looking at trading the diavel in for one of these. Was due to take one for test ride but then the bad weather came so have postponed it for the time being, but I'm getting more and more convinced. Sorry to hear bout your engine. Hope you're sorted soon

    In that case itll be fine, If your budget isnt massive seriously consider the older shape > 2006 Tiger 955i Brilliantly fast, torquey, big and corners superbly. Very comfortable.

    Agreement to say you are who you say you are, have no recent convictions, will have the bike back in time etc etc. Insurance is theirs and can carry a HUGE excess so worth checking.

    You should give the 800 Tiger a go mate. I've not been on the Explorer but it just seems like a slightly bigger and more sophisticated version of the Tiger. The 800 has a fantastic engine and a shitload of torque too.

    Hey, I've picked mine up twice on my own!
    I know what you mean though, they are more about touring really...

    Mate I so glad you liked the Triumph Explorer xc. Ive been testing all kinds of Adventure bikes now for months and that is the bike I came back too three times on three different xc,s. Like you it just worked for me and believe me ive tried them all. Even the much vaunted Beemer but this bike blew them all away. Yesterday I traded in my 2012 KTM Adventure and pick up my xc in June. Over 1000 pounds of extras free. Panniers, heated grips, heated seat and so much more as standard. Even the top box has a 12 volt socket inside it. 10,000 mile service intervals FFS. Cant wait to hit the continent this summer on the best bike ive ever ridden bar none.

      I like to view all comments. I'm looking at buying a new XC in khaki green. As you said they are doing a deal just now with the free boxes, heated seat and grips. This would be my first adventure bike and have to say the bike looks cool and is priced competitively compared with other brands. Very interesting that you traded your KTM against this as many reviews reckon the KTM is a better machine? I suppose in the off road department but maybe not so much for Tarmac?

    • @mac6460
      @mac6460 10 років тому

      Yea mate the KTM 990R is the better off road bike but as 90% of my riding is done on roads and single tracks the Triumph is the better bike for me. I did a 5000 mile tour of France, Andora and Spain last July and although the KTM preformed faultless it was very uncomfortable and felt very top heavy with several stones of camping gear. Also the limited tank range was annoying. But as I say its horses for courses and their are people with the skill to handle the KTM cross country, unfortunately its not me. My off roading is done on a much smaller lighter machine.

    If your serious they just let you rock on :D
    As this was a touring bike she booked me a 90min slot, just had to replace any fuel used. I think I need to try a BMW soon though ;)

    Nice review and I think that possible you have fallen in love with it!

  • @philjonesuk
    @philjonesuk 11 років тому

    Yeh it's only 1050cc but I only have 650cc Versys bike at the moment ;-) My problem is I want a sporty adventure bike (I don't go off road!) as my frame size doesn't work with smaller standard/sports bikes (big guy height and weight)

  • @TheTripleTwister
    @TheTripleTwister  11 років тому

    Aesthetically its too sporty for me, lol. Its down in power a good bit compared to the 1215. Its designed as the "all rounder" I think and imagine it'll be pretty damn good!

    Oh man I felt the same thing when I demo rode the Tex {I had just aborted a demo ride of a R1200GS at a nearby BMW dealership ..thing felt like a bloated whale an after one loop in the parking lot I aborted the ride} On the way home I spotted the triumph dealer I had been in before and arraigned a demo ride ..3 minutes into the ride I knew I had found the bike for me . Previous bikes I had tried were the KTM 1190 , Super Tenere , Vstrom DL1000 .

      Interesting that you had tried pretty much everything before settling on the Triumph. What top three points sold you on it if you don't mind me asking.

    I've owned one of these for a few month and 5,000 miles and absolutely love it :)
    Did you get back on the Sprint and like it as much? Did you buy the Explorer?

  • @bobtranquilli9985
    @bobtranquilli9985 8 років тому

    I LOVE MY EXPLORER.
    But for most people, the 800 might be a better all-rounder, especially if much off-roading is contemplated. One thing that sold me on the 1200 is the shaft drive.

    it's a nice bike not had a test ride but I am sure I would buy one if I could afford it :) I am compromising and trying to save the money up for a tiger 800 should make a good touring bike :)

      I test rode the Tiger 800 xc mate, my second favourite bike. Wasent a Triumph man before but the quality of the bikes they are making now is staggering.

      @blacktiger955i 10 років тому

      I've had an 800XC for three years now and IMO it's the better all round bike. BUT, you'll probably need to change the screen (too small and don't bother with their "touring" screen as it's useless as well), bars (too straight) and seat (Airhawk?) to get it all day comfortable. Once that's done, it's quick enough and will go absolutely anywhere.

    I just can't understand why anyone would one of these 'adventure' bikes! Big, heavy, shaft-driven behemoths. Racks everywhere for luggage, needless spotlights, engine crash bars...Disgusting!
