dude holy cow thank you for this. just shot a wedding this past weekend with a 24mm 1.4 and 24-70mm 2.8, both worked like charms but all these now thinking back on some scenarios would have been sooooooo nice. appreciate this one!
So for the 35mm prime lens, you said you use it for ring and detail shots. Is the reason why you use it for detail shots due to it’s minimum focal length? I’m on the ship to either get a 2470GMii or a 35MM. My lens collection all have very far minimum focal length which I suffer when taking ring and detail shots.
Great video, I’d be interested in either seeing a video or just getting your thoughts on a 3 or 4 lens budget kit for wedding photography on the Sony system with each lens costing less than $1k
Well, I dont think that there is a 3-4 lens combo that will work great for a wedding and is under 1k. Your only option is the Sony 35mm 1.8 and 85mm 1.8 (both used) that will run you
That would be my next step up. Currently on Sigma 24, 35, 50 and Tamron 70-180 but have been wanting something a bit cleaner image quality (no CA) and lighter set up. I agree sony 24 GM and 35 GM are absolutely amazing.
Similar to you. 24 and 35 and the tamron. Also have the 85 1.8 and 28mm f2 I wouldn’t change the tamron or the sigma 24 for the world and have tried the sony 24. The colours from the sigma glass is unreal. Have the 55mm also. Unreal
@@darrenmaher6500 Yes I think this is a great set up to enter the sony system if we don’t have a lot of money to spend on gears. What I like about the 24GM though is the look of less distortion, it’s a very unique look I feel. I take a lot of portraits with 24 so it’s pretty cool to have that.
@@DevAcharya so I haven’t actually tried either of the lens but often time the wider the aperture more focus breathing characteristics so my guess is 1.8
Hello, Taylor. I'm switching to Sony and have ordered the A7IV. So your video came just in time. What do you think of the Tamron 35-150 2-2.8. It can replace my 35,50,85 and 70-200. (I don't need the reach to 200) Add the 24 1.4GM and I'm set.
Just get a fuji XT-4 and their new lens line up like 33 1.4 , 18 1.4 and 23 1.4 and also their new sigma lenses look great ..except autofocus pretty much everywhere fuji blew sony away ..also fuji XH-2 with 45 mega pixel will be launched in May..
I am using the 55 Zeiss for years now, and absolutely loving it. As an 85 I got the Zeiss Batis wich is stabilized. And getting the 24 1.4 before summer as well as this is the first year where I'll be shooting weddings. Further down the line I will get the Tamron 70-180 2.8 as well but that's not in the budget right now. Appreciating your content and preparing me for the next steps in my "career" with your membership videos
I agree with most of what you said though I would replace the 4 primes you showed with the 24-70mm F2.8. So my setup would be: 2 bodies; the 24-70; and the 70-200. In my opinion, here are few things worse than trying to swap prime lenses around as the moments pass you by, when you could just have had a zoom on and got all the shots.
Perfect lenses...i take the same basic ensemble, on Fuji. One side a 56/1 2, the other side, a 23/1.4. Alternativ, a 35/1.4 and a wider lens... big zomm..no.. i think, i try it with the 90/2.0🤔
Links to all the lenses in the description! Thanks for watching!
I shoot 85mm f1.4 on one camera, the 24mm f1.4 on the other. I love the look of this combo for the gallery.
I did end up shooting a whole wedding on the 55mm f1.8 last year. It still went surprisingly well and everything looked great
I agree, shot with it (55 1.8) for 75% of my wedding yesterday. Amazing results.

I'm glag you noted the rendering of the Zeiss. Everyone just says a lens is sharp, but theres more to life than being sharp.
Very helpful man, thanks for this
2:55 to 3:07 - I'm surprised he didn't go with the Sony FE 50mm f/1.2 GM. I used it on my first paid gig for a housewarming party. Great lens!
thx
Outstanding review 👏 👌, thanks for sharing 👍. Just bought my sony a7iv and am seriously considering in getting 24 70 f2.8 gm and 85 f1.4 gm😊 😊😊
Now that you frequently review Sony gear. Is there a possibility that you could review the Tamron 35-150mm f2-2.8?
So for the 35mm prime lens, you said you use it for ring and detail shots.

I like 35mm focal length a lot. As well as the close focusing. Very nice to have. 24-70 is very versatile though
No mention of Ultrawides. You don't use them for Wedding Photography?
I don’t use any ultra wides
I don’t see any flashes? Do you not use flash at all and just shoot wide open? Thank you
Could you use the 35mm instead of the 24mm ? Would the 35 work in tighter/smaller hotel rooms as the 24 would?
24 is great as well. Mostly comes down to personal preference
how to pov setting ? Your POV camera angles are great. Have you made a clip? I'll take a look.
35mm can get a whole wedding done.

Heave u tried the. 50/1.2?? It’s amazing
Hey Taylor! How do you approach asking the couple if you can use the GoPro on their wedding day to make your content?

@@renelackner3081 oh no I didn’t mean $1k total. I mean 3-4 lenses that are each under $1k for a total budget of around $4k.
Did you use flash for wedding?
I usually don’t unless I need to
Thoughts on the new 70-200 G2 master? Do you think is worth it or is G1 good enough?
Do you think the 2.8 is necessary over the f/4 for the 70-200?
I prefer the look of a 2.8. Also if you plan to use it at reception it’s very nice to have the 2.8

hey Taylor, i thoght you were using canon gear for your wedings... are you using both sony and canon? how dose it work for you?
What presets did you use to edit the photos. Your skin tones look creamy .

yes it can, i got the lens and it makes life easy
Do you still shoot with your R6 and Canon glass?
I am not wedding photographer, but sometimes clients want it and I take Tamron 70-180 f2.8, Sony 16-35 f4, Samyang 35 f1.4 and Sony 85 f1.8
