After a LOT of research I’d also suggest the Sony 20 1.8, Sony 35 1.4, Sony 85mm 1.8 and the Tamron 70-180 f2.8 G2; the Tamron is a fantastic lightweight zoom, very similar in terms of picture quality to the GM II and it can shoot near macro level photos. Best part about this setup is that it’s lightweight and they all have a 67mm filter treads so you can share filters across all lenses. You’re welcome 😊
I just started shooting weddings and recently had my first wedding. I used the Tamron 35-150mm for the whole day on my A7iv and all I can say is what an amazing lens it is! I do plan on getting a wide angle, then collecting the sony GM primes once I get more weddings booked in next year. But for now I can shoot a whole wedding on that one lens and get amazing results!
Ya I do weddings on two A7III’s with the tamron 20-40mm f2.8 and the tamron 70-180mm F2.8 g2 but I should really just get the 35-150mm. I’m also tempted at getting the sigma 28-45mm F1.8
Nice selection of lenses and agree totally about the Tamron 35-150 which is a great all rounder if you want a one lens and go. Since getting my A7rv I have exploited the apsc mode which still gives you a high res picture. Yes you can crop in post but it's meant I can dual purpose primes as well. My wedding kit of primes is the 24mm gm f1.4 and the Sigma 50mm f1.4. Switching between normal and apsc mode I can make the 24mm work almost as a 35mm and the 50mm almost as a 75mm. Much of the time the combination of switching between 24mm and 35mm covers a lot of bases particularly in the getting ready photos etc. I also use a Samyang 135mm f1.8 which is fantastic value for the money and I try to make use of that when I can just for the look it gives.
Im goung to check out that Everyday Messenger bag. Thanjs for the tip. Hoping itll accomodate: A7IV (x2), Canon 16-35L with MC-11 adaptor, Tamron 35-150 (still have to pick one up at BJ Photo), Godox V1.
Nice, i run a similar setup, 20 1.8, 35-150, and a prime that i feel like using for the day e.g. 50 1.4, 85 1.8 or 135 1.8 Have you thought about using macro tubes on the 85?
HEY Taylor, happy end of season! You changed to Profoto A10 at your last wedding with the 28-70 Sony intro. Why did you change? Did Majek get you to change or did you actually have some issues with Godox that predicated it? Thanks!!
@TaylorJacksonPhoto Having everything in one bag is crucial for me in the next year. I was strugling with tons of equipment as a wedding filmmaker and it was very hard to maintain everything solo. However how do you deal with conditions where you do not have white ceilings or flat white surface, wall etc. to bounce the light off? Do you bounce it off anyways? Dancefloors etc.
I just got rid of my entry level Canon M50 and got used Sony A9 and Tamron 35-150mm. Had to get something professional quality since I'm shooting my first weddings this summer.
@@sbroadbentphoto I have to loan one. Luckily our local photographer group is full of amazing people with great gear. I must make some money first doing this before the wife let's me drop another thousands of euros to good backup camera... 😅
Love the setup, and the fact that you don't simoly have all the most expensive stuff, but for example the 85mm 1.8 ❤ As a videomaker I am always looking for cheap but very good lens, in this period a wide one, cool that sony start making mid range lens with good starting price like the new 16-25mm
@TaylorJacksonPhoto you don't have to be kind. It's where I live and it's wet, grey and miserable 80% of the year but the people are brand new! As they say 'People make Glasgow'!
Hi Taylor, you’ve probably been asked this a billion times but I can’t find it in any other comments. I have the option of buying the A7IV or the A7RV. Which do you think is best for weddings and general street photography if budget isn’t a concern. How much better is the autofocus compared? Thanks
I went with A7r5 !! better viewfinder you will spnd most of the day looking through it , bigger better resolution screen , 26mp in crop mode , better ai focusing and 8 stop ibis plus better resale value too. So yeah get a7r5 and you will love the 61mp details for when you pixel peep or crop in post production 📸👍
I was surprised you shot S-Cinetone for video. I like Fuji for color which is why that’s what I have but I can see if you’re shooting professional you’d want the best autofocus. Color grading doesn’t interest me at the moment
Honestly, I am not happy with the build quality of Nikon camera bodies now. Ever since Nikon began outsourcing to Thailand, QC has gone down. Too much plastic for me.

Great video Taylor!
We need a video to show us how you pack everything safely in your camera bag 😊
Haha never thought of this. It just goes in the slots. But I will do a video about it

Question! Why don't you think high megapixels is needed for weddings?
Thanks for all your info! So helpful!
I always end up coming back to Sony. It’s best to fit in a sling bag and great for all types of photography. The A9iii is next for me.
Hey Taylor thank you so much ❤ do you use any kind of straps?
Do you use a spider holster with your Tamron 35-150mm lens?

Nice kit! Thoughts on Sony a73 for someone starting out on a tight budget?
I just got rid of my entry level Canon M50 and got used Sony A9 and Tamron 35-150mm. Had to get something professional quality since I'm shooting my first weddings this summer.
Hope you have a backup camera

Thanks Taylor, great summary of your kit. If you weren't using the different systems for UA-cam. Which system would you stick with and why? Thanks!
I’m probably forced into Sony if I want video to 2 cards and the 35-150
Thanks for replying. Yes that lensis hard to ignore and the flexibilty of the cards.@@TaylorJacksonPhoto
Can you do a nikon kit. I dont do video so I am really interesting in nikon kit please
What camera do you use for the long format recording a ceremony?
Ooh, nice to see some Glasgow action.
Loved it there

Great video as always! Quick question: do you ever use gimbals for video?
Nope, but nothing wrong with it. Active stabilization on the newer Sony cameras is very nice.
Cool! Thanks for the reply.
Thanks for the video. Do you prefer the Tamron over the Samyang 35-150?
They’re both great!

It’s a bump in af according the specs, but the a74 is really good. I can’t really tell the difference between the two af systems at a wedding
@@TaylorJacksonPhoto which one would you go for if you had the option of just one?
@mattsmith2208 you could almost get two a74s for a A7RV. At least in Canada
@@TaylorJacksonPhoto I was looking at grey market. It’s only about £450 more expensive in UK

Nice and timely! I'm weighing up the A9iii or the A1 for 2024... I really can't decide but need silent shooting (coming from the A9.)
Happy the A1 is getting firmware! If you need the megapixels that would be the choice for sure
Do you think for wedding the following setup si too much as lenses: 24 gm, 35 gm, 50 1.2, 85, 35-150?
is there any specific reason why you bring so much?
I usually only bring 24 / 28mm, 50 / 58mm, and 105mm (this one rarely gets used)
9:47 oooooh small trigger! Make a video about that you nice person!
I refuse to open the box it’s in
@@TaylorJacksonPhoto take it to the airport and get them to do an xray scan unboxing video.
I'm surprised the Sigma 85mm f/1.4 wasn't the favored 85mm lens.
i follow you because Nikon, now your sony guy ehehe, i still nikon but still open door for other brand, still eyeing the canon r8
Thanks for sharing this year's kit, waiting for the review of the Canon kit 🙂

Cinetone is pretty similar to a Fuji sim like Eterna. It’s a nice burnt in look
Your kit is so dialed
"you look great, and you smell good too" lol great Intro!

Sony also made in Thailand
