I just purchased one of these through Amazon. Shot it the same day I received it. I swear I did not want to put it down. Talk about sweet and accuracy. Got a red dot coming in the mail tomorrow. Once that is set I’ll be ready to go to town sort of speak and let those BB’s fly. The only pain is having to reload. Ordering an extra mag and reloader because I can see the reloader eventually breaking since it is all plastic with plastic gears. It’s just like the rest of them that I use so they don’t last forever. Anyway, great video. Enjoy the fun. I know I am.
The red star paper is exactly what this reminds me of as well. Have you ever noticed how each following year they gave you fewer and fewer bbs to work with? Now you're lucky if you get 20 rounds to work with.

Another excellent review. I too have crosman DPMS and the baikal drozd full auto BBs. Accuracy and power fluctuates especially with CO2. The drozd I have options HPA or CO2. Even with my PCP, fun of shooting stops when you ran out of air. This gun is accurate enough with no fluctuations on power speed and accuracy. It's perfect because most of the times I just wanted to shoot shoot shoot. Just carry extra battery.
I’ve got mine all decked out with a tactical scope, mounted a laser sight on the scope, a tactical light with trigger finger switch and a bipod! Official weight 11.5 pounds with battery and full mag . I can’t wait to blast some bottles , clay targets and whatever else I can destroy from the house . LoL
Your are like the Hickok 45 of the air gun world. Absolutely love your vids, and this gun is incredible. At first I was skeptical about a battery powered bb rifle but then I thought about it, we have been using them in air soft for so long how on earth have they just now thought of putting them in BB rifles??? My only downside is that it won’t be able to fit in the pellet pistols! Amazing concept. Sucks that we’re using more lithium for our hobby’s but if you take care of the batteries then it should last a long time. Awesome work
I swear when you were on Full Auto shooting out the red bull's-eye, I literally thought about that game at the carnival shooting out the red star. And then you mention it
This is the best review of this rifle that I've seen so far! You did a great job of covering all of the technical and practical aspects of this gun. Ever since I got my first 6mm Airsoft AEG years ago (a Tokyo Marui MP5), I was hoping someone would come out with a .177 caliber steel BB AEG (Automatic Electric Gun). Now it is finally here! I have several CO2 full auto BB guns, but as you mentioned, the cooling of the CO2 cartridges and drop in velocity takes much of the fun out of shooting them. I'll have to get one of these ASAP! I'm sure other manufacturers will be jumping on the bandwagon and developing they're own versions of a .177 AEG in the near future (if they haven't started already).
I shot those full auto mg’s bb gun in Circus Circus Las Vegas as a kid. Same, had to shoot till all the red star on the paper target was completely gone.
Ovonics makes excellent packs by the way, go for the high C packs so the voltage don't drop off under load dropping your power under full auto as the voltage sags. Get you a 70 to 100c pack (c is your discharge rate the pack can handle, for example a 100c 2200mah pack is rated for 220 amps and of course you will have voltage sag at say 20 amps BUT a 100c pack will have far less voltage sag than a 25c pack) high C rated packs are much higher quality packs as well, the low C crappy packs are not very good packs over all the 75+ C packs are much higher quality packs.
Mine is well on its way to be delivered Wed, June 22. Already have the 6,000 count BB's, B3 charger and battery pack rated 35c @ 2200 mAh, direct from Amazon Prime. Quick question: you mentioned purchasing battery packs rated "70 to 100c". Having done my research before making decision to purchase 400e, it is recommended by manufacturer to use packs 25-35c otherwise you could possibly risk damaging gearbox and motor. Have you used 70-100c with no issues or just assuming the higher the rating the better, which obviously on paper and performance-wise I would agree it would outperform max 25-35c easily, but can the operating system handle that discharg rate?
I was wondering this very thing, thank you for commenting on it. I think I will stick with 35c to be safe. Given they specifically state 25-35c there is probably a reason for that.
Great review on a fantastic air gun. Love the battery powered technology. The only drawback is reloading those BB’s. I always have mixed results with those plunger style speed-loaders. I’d pay a premium for the convenience of a preloaded mag with 1000 or 2500 BB’s if they could figure out some reliable method of factory pre-loading something like that …
There are lots of effective ways to achieve this. The engineers stated that it was their initial plan but they had problems delivering on time so we're stock with that *for the moment.* It is #1 on their priority list to make a better one since there are so many people already complaining about the exact same thing. Cool thing I learned so far is that this bad boy is almost totally modable with airsoft parts (longer/shorter barrel, more powerfull motor, battery voltage, piston, spring, etc) are all parts commonly found in the airsoft community. But they also stated that the best power vs accuracy is already at it's full potential as it is. As for the AR platform, some of the real AR accessories will fit just right (im thinking about clipping 2 mags together, gun skins, etc...). They're also planning a surprise whitch they won't talk much about but everyone is suspecting it will be a full auto that shoots pellet. Anyway, just wait a couple of months or a year and you will see youtube flooded by videos of mods done to this baby. 👍
I must be the ONLY guy in the world with a terrible experience with the speed loader because no one gives this gun ANYTHING but a great review. The speed loader jams constantly. The absurd path that the bbs have to travel jams every time and all the time. The few bbs that get to the exit tube jam at the exit hole and become completely unable to be installed in the magazine. What the hell is going on?$500+ buck and I want some quality.
Excellent video, now tear that sucker apart for a breakdown video!!! The awesome thing about these electric guns is that they are far easier to mod, from changing out the battery to the motor, i'm curious to see how far these things will be pushed in the near future.
I think this may have opened the door for a new power source in airguns. Now i want to see pellet versions and higher velocities. Thanks for tuning in! 👍
You used zinc bb’s ! Barra site recommends all steel bb’s . Looks like the zincs gave good performance. At least I know I can shoot them through this sweet airgun.
I think this may open up some eyes in the with the airgun manufacturers. This may just be the beginning. I would pellet versions and greater velocity in the future. Thanks for tuning in!
Yes I think the future of electric combined with a pellet version rifled barrel will increase velocity firstly because the pellets will be a tighter fit and because of the shape it already should push the fps up closer to the 500 fps mark. Well that's my thinking 🤔 also increased power would help but not sure if thats a possibility ?
Wow now that’s a BB gun I would like . Where is the link to Barra E400 ?Thanks JC . I won a gun at fair doing that shooting the red star out. My sister would not sign for me I was not of age
😆🤣 Peter..the first time I saw those machine guns at the fair, my dad did the shooting and I remember him arguing with the guy the red was all shot out. I did however, walk away with a stuffed animal at the end of the conversation. I will add a link for Barra. Happy Shooting 👍
Maybe in time the price will come down a bit. I know they were a bit pricey to manufacturer. Everything is so inflated right now 🤨 Thank you for watching 👍
Great video and awesome gun ! The technology from air soft seems like a natural progression for bb air guns and as you stated and demonstrated it works flawlessly. The shooters of today are going to love this hassle Free platform and that should provide countless hours of bb action. Very interesting it would definately be worthwhile getting one for the collection. What gun is it based on ? Thanks for your great content and God bless you too.
It's good idea but it has some co2 disadvantages. In low temperatures battery wouldn't be so efficient. I would prefer some heating system for co2 gas.
So far I installed three long m-lok pic rails on my 400E along with a 4x32 eliminated CV Life scope and a tactical light . I’ll install a laser sight on the side of the scope next , yes this tactical scope has two short pic rails on it . A bipod will also be added. This will be one bad- - - BB gun for sure . I even have a two gun tactical carry case for this style rifle . My issue now is finding someone who has extra mags available in stock and an extra speed loader .
Very aware of the limitations of C02 powered guns and time my full-auto with controlled bursts, helps to ensure slide / barrel assy, / bolt locks rear when magazine empty. Electric powered BB rifle without the limitations of C02 powered guns is a wonderful thing. M9A3 works excellently with 2 full magazines while shooting controlled bursts. Imagine being able to shoot the blowback UMEREX replicas without changing C02..That would be nice. Meanwhile, (before I purchase this rifle) the slide assembly on the Berreta M9A3 and the barrel assy on the Luger P08 MUST lock open on the last shot for the proper entertainment. So, proper timing with C02 cartridges is essential.
This is cool, but I like the little kick the C02 makes. I feel like you'd miss out with that more realistic feel. However this is super cool if you just wanna hit some targets. Not having to refill would be nice.
Cool rifle. They basically made an airsoft gun into a BB gun. I'm surprised no manufacturer has tried this before. I agree with the economy of the batteries it is Very cost effective. I will be curious to see if the mechanism can be improved in the future to increase rate of fire or velocity perhaps on subsequent models? The price did set me off a bit to be honest though. $400 seems a bit much for that in my opinion. They are available now on the Barra website and I didn't see them at Pyramid Air or Airgun Depot. Having worked in marketing for a long time I think they may have misjudged their market a bit. With the Crosman auto BB guns still hovering around 179-199 even with CO2 cost that's a bit of a stretch even considering the economy of the battery. I think a price of 275-299 might be a more suitable price and I will bet we shall see the price come down on this cool little rifle. I would be a buyer if it was under $300 there are too many great air guns at $400 that aren't made in the PRC. Thanks as always for sharing this J.C. take care and enjoy your Memorial Day weekend!
@@TacticalJackalope not sure but I don't think there are too many manufacturers in Taiwan. Barra does have a patent pending on this so something is unique in the internals.
Thank you for the GREAT review! I worry about the long-term RELIABILITY. What is the weakest link of the rifle? I've had CO2's that lose their seals in a week. Is there a LAW that air rifles are not allowed to shoot OVER 400fps?
Just found your channel. This electric air rifle is definitely cool. It's one of those things where people say "why didn't I think of that"? I don't know a ton about air rifles/pistols. We have a Umarex MP40 that is extremely cool and very "real" feeling but the Co2 seems to deter the kids a lot. I bought it for my son a few years ago and even though it is a lot of fun to shoot, it doesn't get used as much as I hoped it would. This looks like something that the family would use a lot more and there's no Co2 to change out. Do these electric air rifles still have seals to be concerned about and other similar parts that may require attention or does the electric change all of that? Thanks very much for the video, I'm definitely going to be looking into this electric air rifle. Stay safe & God Bless.
You should get better consistency because the electric piston will give you a better velocity. The speed loader is the same as airsoft and the magazine is very similar. When you charge the battery do not leave the battery unattended.
Maybe I missed it, but do they have a price point on these yet? I've been waiting to see this one since your video at the shot show. Very cool and looks like a ton of fun but I can't seem to come up with a solid reason to own something like this. I wish I had one of these when I was a kid and you could still walk the railroad tracks plinking without somebody freaking out.
Tyler...The reason to own one is simply...they are fun! Something for the whole family. To experience a full-auto in your own backyard is really enjoyable. There are wants and needs in this world, this is a want, because you only live once. Life is short.."play hard!" Ok..there is a reason😉 $400 MSRP. But you will save $100's in not having to purchase Co2s. Thanks for tuning in 👍
@@AirgunDetectives hell not only will you save hundreds you'll save many thousands over a full auto M16 itself not to mention the 5.56 ammo that you'd be wasting thousands on alone not including the rifle. Hahaha big comparison and damn near just as much fun. It's got my 2 thumbs up and oh yeah I do remember those fair games and shooting out the red star with those specifically bent barrels in those guns at the fair hahaha. I had to play that game numerous times every year at the local fair and always looked forward to it and now I can recreate the game at home for me and my boy and have fun little competitions anytime we want in our own back yard so In my opinion how could you go wrong. Hell now I sound like a shill for the company or something haha. I'm surely not but I also surely wouldn't complain if they wanna send me and my 14yr old boy one for free I would be absolutely more than happy to shill for them as much as possible and spread the good word. Hahaha, ah well wishful thinking. Day dreaming a bit again I guess but hey ya never know, it never hurts to try.😁
Just did some quick math to get the equivalent of 200,000 shots off a single 3S battery you need to spend $2000 worth of CO2 cartridges. So buying the battery and charger for $50 more is a steal.
Well a good MOSFET with precock will fix that. I would bet a warfet brushless motor will fit in the motor grip. Good motor, good MOSFET and a rc airplane battery then take the gear box and do a bore up kit , a good set of single sector gears....this thing will now rival a 22 with a fire rate in full auto in the 40-50 rps .
i bought one and it works great, HOWEVER the on weak point is the loader as it is fussy sometimes to load the bb's into the magazine. You sometimes have to shake it as the bb's sort of hang up when loading
Another great review. The 400e may be a winner. I just got into air guns. Just have an Umarex Peacemaker. Looking at the combat master JW3 pistol, and a black gun rifle. I was thinking an AR or M4 platform. The performance on this is great, just what I was looking for.

@@AirgunDetectives Wouldn’t they need a belt fed system for pellets sorta like what sig does with the MCX & Pellet pistol replicas? That would be sick! 🙂
Awesome little plinker and training device. Super impressive
I remember those guns at the fair.
Yes!! They were fun 😉👌🏼
Ok no maintenance thanks for getting back to me
I've seen a few videos about this gun and everybody seems to like it very much.
LoL
You’re a lefty too! 👍🏻I’m ambidextrous shooting guns and pool.
I loved the smile on your face when you came off that full auto accuracy test!! HA! Just ordered one today, can't wait to give it a try!😁
Outstanding performance for a BB gun! I like it, and I want one.
Awesome work
I appreciate you watching, and thank you for your comments 👍🏻😉
Awsome! I would buy one in a second🤩 so Nice for backyard plinking👌🏻👌🏻
It is the perfect backyard plinker and it is nice for a change not dealing with Co2's. Thanks for tuning in!👍
I swear when you were on Full Auto shooting out the red bull's-eye, I literally thought about that game at the carnival shooting out the red star. And then you mention it
Great minds think alike!! 👍👍

Wow I love it! Thank you for the review.
Ted, thank you for tuning in and I appreciate your comments.👍
This is the best review of this rifle that I've seen so far! You did a great job of covering all of the technical and practical aspects of this gun. Ever since I got my first 6mm Airsoft AEG years ago (a Tokyo Marui MP5), I was hoping someone would come out with a .177 caliber steel BB AEG (Automatic Electric Gun). Now it is finally here! I have several CO2 full auto BB guns, but as you mentioned, the cooling of the CO2 cartridges and drop in velocity takes much of the fun out of shooting them. I'll have to get one of these ASAP! I'm sure other manufacturers will be jumping on the bandwagon and developing they're own versions of a .177 AEG in the near future (if they haven't started already).
as an RC guy, I already have all the battery & charging stuff ready to go ! 50 rnd full auto , I'm ready to $$$$
I shot those full auto mg’s bb gun in Circus Circus Las Vegas as a kid. Same, had to shoot till all the red star on the paper target was completely gone.
Ron....you can relate👍
I love mine. And there's quite a few people that have shop on that are buying them.
Looks like a fun rifle for sure.
It is seriously a good time!👍
I have the exact same setup now
Happy Shooting 👍
@@AirgunDetectives how long did it take you to sight the scope in because my point of am is different from my point of fire by a lot
Great info! Thank you 👍
2,200 mah is 2.2 amps, not 220.
I’d pay a premium for the convenience of a preloaded mag with 1000 or 2500 BB’s if they could figure out some reliable method of factory pre-loading something like that …
Even.. 100-200 round mags. These are not bad but they do require the use of the BB speedloader. Happy Shooting 👍
There are lots of effective ways to achieve this.
The engineers stated that it was their initial plan but they had problems delivering on time so we're stock with that *for the moment.*
It is #1 on their priority list to make a better one since there are so many people already complaining about the exact same thing.
I like that a lot better than my dpms co2 gun.
I like the fact you don't need Co2's and there is no cooling down effect!
I want one👍🏻👍🏻
it's going to get interesting when people start figuring out how to tweak that thing
Show me a 500-600 fps pellet version 👍🏻👍🏻
Great demo. This thing has fun factor of 100! My addiction to these rifles could cost me a divorce. Lol?
I would like to see a .22 or .177 pellet version of this
Maybe in time👍
You used zinc bb’s ! Barra site recommends all steel bb’s . Looks like the zincs gave good performance. At least I know I can shoot them through this sweet airgun.
Awesome! Tks not until I got your review, I didn t want to orden it! Tks!! Great review as always!!
Thanks for watching!!
Loved the video. Amazing accuracy. Wish they will make a pellet version with more velocity.
Great video as always JC 👍👍
About time you watched it!😉🙂👍👍

Maybe in time the price will come down a bit. I know they were a bit pricey to manufacturer. Everything is so inflated right now 🤨 Thank you for watching 👍
Great.
The rifle is an AR style platform. Not sure beyond that. Thank you for tuning in and taking the time to leave comments.
It's good idea but it has some co2 disadvantages. In low temperatures battery wouldn't be so efficient. I would prefer some heating system for co2 gas.
@@MCiTB No Co2 as far as I know that elec system stays constant in any temperature so the fps and accuracy is good
I have a ton of aeg airsoft guns. This 400e sounds just like them.
Very similar technology, but Barra found a new way to get the higher velocity for steel BBs. 👍
I think there is room in every collection for both. 😉👍
Time will tell what the market accepts. These are actually made in Taiwan. Have a great weekend 👍
@@AirgunDetectives KWC? That's much better!
Nice review 👍would love one of these, hopefully they will bring a semi auto version to the UK with us not allowed full auto 😒but i wont hold my breath
A semi-auto version would not be too difficult...you may want to reach out to Barra😉👍
@@AirgunDetectives Great idea, i will 🙂
Put out a pellet version with a little higher velocity for around $250 - 300 and I am there. Still, very exciting.
Maybe eventually as the technology spreads👍
This thing looks like a heck of a lot of fun. Curious about the technology.
I want one
Stay safe & God Bless.
i did think of it but i just assumed it had been done
@@ARF_average
Hey, get back to the drawing board. You obviously have some good ideas. Stay motivated. Good luck. 👍
I love my AEG air soft guns , also you might want to get the Lipo storage bags for safe keeping .
Thanks for tuning in 👍
Way too much. Website says 400. Cool but not a chance.
It's a nice gun great review my negative would be the price over 400 if you buy it with the battery & charger
What is the distance of range to hit target ?
GREAT review JC. PLEASE NEVER STOP. MY ONLY Q? WAS ... HOW MUCH$$$$$$
I" own several BARRAA AIR GUNS. AND I HAVE BEEN OK WITH THE BRAND
this is amazing Im gonna get one!
I really enjoyed this one! A lot of fun...absolutely perfect for the backyard 👌
Excellent review.
Just did some quick math to get the equivalent of 200,000 shots off a single 3S battery you need to spend $2000 worth of CO2 cartridges. So buying the battery and charger for $50 more is a steal.
What kind of maintenance dose this air rife need
I like seeing this done in .177, props to Barra for innovating.
That said AEG are not my preference as the trigger timing is sloppy.
Thank you for watching 👍
Well a good MOSFET with precock will fix that. I would bet a warfet brushless motor will fit in the motor grip. Good motor, good MOSFET and a rc airplane battery then take the gear box and do a bore up kit , a good set of single sector gears....this thing will now rival a 22 with a fire rate in full auto in the 40-50 rps .
I've been racing rc cars since 1988 and lipos came out in about 2004 and you can get 500 or more cycles out of a good lipo... if you take extra care
i bought one and it works great, HOWEVER the on weak point is the loader as it is fussy sometimes to load the bb's into the magazine.
Hopefully the day will come soon where we see 22 or 25 cal pellet electric
