I am 84 years old (1939) and live in the Netherlands. Been following USA country and pop music since 1950 and I still do. First heard of John Prine upon his passing on April 7 , 2020. From then on I follow everything fom him. Never heard of him before then. What a fantastic musican! Thanks for those old beautiful recordings in the kitchen. Beautiful again but it also shows the transience of life.
He has a unique way of handing you your heart and then somehow coming up with a hopeful ending. I heard a 30 something rap musician reviewing his music for the first time. He listened to Hello in There. At first he was over commenting because it's so different from what he's used to. Then he started paying attention. When he got to the line "We lost Davey in the Korean War", he just said "woah, this is heavy" and let's it play. Exactly. I'm 66 and one of my friends used to play few of his songs in college. Our group were all geologists from Missouri in the central the US. Kentucky is the next state over and Paradise clicked with us. But I never listened to any of his other music until after he died and I saw how upset people were. Now I try to listen to every new song I can at least once. I swear I grow with every song. That's nice when you get older. Something new to make you laugh or cry.
John Prine's death was a gut punch and a kick in the teeth at the same time. Hurts even more since I had spent some time with him and got to hang out with him outside of his music.. My wife passed exactly 4 years after him on the same date, April 7th. Been enjoying his music for over 50 years There will nnever be another like him.
Saw John Prince for the first time in 1980 and have loved him ever since. Saw him for the last time in Phoenix in 2012. Stood out side and waited to get an autograph for over an hour. Worth every minute. He was generous with his time and talked with us for a long time. A night I will forever treasure !! 😊🌠
That is stunning, everything in Newfoundland happens at the kitchen table, food for everyone 😋 and then music and friends, oh and maybe the odd drink or two. Brilliant 👏. Rip. John.
If I get to time travel when I die, I’ll go to my Grandma’s house in the 80’s during Christmas. And the next stop would be this kitchen with John. How great he sounds and plays here. Top notch brother John. Rest easy.
This would been heaven- sitting at the table listening to John jam out, all I can do is sit with this stupid grin on my face I love it...rest in heaven John- thank you
What an awesome release!! Thank you. Loved the man and his music! Sad day when Brother John left us ): So real, so genuine and down to earth. High quality ! RIP
All these clips coming out now are just fantastic. They just reaffirm what a great and interesting person as well as songwriter/singer John Prine was...something I picked up right away all the way back to the early 70's when I first discovered him when our local FM station starting playing Illegal Smile. His songs have been a part of my life ever since.
love it thanks so much wish i could a been there....nice glimpse tho the goddesses sure belssed saint john prine and he sure blessed us with his daring sharing caring humble greatness
I just noticed the other guitarist is playing a right hand guitar upside down and left handed. I think I would do whatever it took to jam around the kitchen table with JP too!
Rachel Prine did a vid from a bar in Ireland. The song had something to do with a guy talking to the ocean. DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHAT THAT SONG IS CALLED????

How lucky would one man (or woman) get to sit down at a kitchen table and listen to John Prine sing them a song? Very!
It's such a treat. I'm loving the ones I've seen. What a man. ❤❤

How lucky can one get being around that table, listening to the greatest songwriter ever?
Might be one of the best recordings of this song. John Prine wrote some of the best songs in this life. They never get old.
John sitting at a kitchen table and singing is Prime Prine.
Makes me cry a little every time I see John play. It’s a little colder without John. God Bless you. What a sweet considerate man.
So grateful for this man and his music. Still get misty eyed listening to his music. Miss him.
Yeah, man.
What a beautiful vignette. Miss ya John. Thanks for all the great music down through the years.

This song has been guiding me through my early 20s. Thanks, John!
Great to hear him sing with his wife, Rachel. Golly… how cool are they!
He was, and always will be, a treasure.....

the vibe is incredible
Lou Aus. What a remarkable artist. Listened to his songs for hours. Make you feel so good. Bless John Prine gone but never forgotten
All I can add is thank you to John and the family; they knew my cousin Del McCoury.
Dave
So glad I just found this.
What a lovely few moments...
I'm lucky to have seen him 3 times
Was fortunate to have caught him live a few years back. A memory to replay a million times.

Does anybody know who is singing with him? Looks like Rosemary Butler but I don’t know that they worked together.

@@steviedxo How on earth could any woman have let him go ???
@@KathgoKat have you ever been romantically involved with a musician? Lol
I just wish I could go back in time and knock that cigarette out of his hand and tell him what going to happen to him later on.
Old age woke.
