Everytime he downs a bottle of Corona, take a shot!😂😂😂
Why thank you for the pin!😄
At the time I hated Grudge but as I’ve got older I like a lot of it, in the history of music there hasn’t been a lot of bands better than Alice In Chains and Chris Cornell was a badass
It was a good time when it was good. It became easy to hate when it was just a fashion pushed by the music industry and corporations, but in that early phase it was great.
What's grudge??

@@metetural9140 aha! Didn't think of that 🤣
Kurt cobain but he drank too much pennyroyal tea:
fair play thats pretty gd
@@edgeofthemap kurt cobain if he was british:
While Grunge definitely fell off a while ago, there is still hope for the genre. Bands like SAP with their album Lard Baby and The Jins with their album It’s A Life are a breath of fresh air from whatever the mainstream craps out today
Grunge Generation is stilly making their Music
The breeders massive album last splash . Which they opened for nirvana.
urgh there's always someone!
Great little nugget:
"Would?" was one of Alice in Chains most famous songs, written by Jerry Cantrell and a tribute to his buddy Andy Wood. They were close during the periods when both bands found themselves. It's a big shame that all of these bands were plagued with drugs. Too much talent was squandered and lost to drugs and depression.
Always happy to hear from representatives of today's youth that appreciate good music.
Always happy to listen to the actual Grunges Generation Music played Today
You did a BEYOND VERY FANTASTIC job with the video! I LOOOOOVE Grunge!!!!!
I signed in on the work computer just to subscribe because this video was that good.
22:35 tbh I really like that album, I think the only reason it’s so hated is cause it’s Mötley Crüe, if any other band released that album it would be considered a grunge era classic. There are so many great songs Hooligans Holiday, Misunderstood, Hammered, uncle Jack, and poison apples
Grunge was great for rock because even though they were all put under the label grunge, they spanned genres. AIC and Soundgarden were metal, Nirvana was sometimes shoegazey, sometimes punk, and Pearl Jam covered butt rock 😂 and that's just the big four! There were alot of great bands that most people still don't know like Gruntruck, Tad, and of course The Melvins. Just so many great bands. Hasn't been any movement in rock that had such a huge impact since and idk if there ever will be again
Yeah
We are just the Alternative Generation
@@aotctd well I was born in 95 so I ain't gen X lol
Been watching since the Britpop video, keep doing what your the doing the videos are really good bro.
Fuck yes, drain you is criminally underrated
I have a feeling you are going to blow up. Great video
i cant believe you dont have 100k plus subs honestly your videos are so high quality
Great video, thank you!
I absolutely love this video. It talks about ALL of my favorite bands and songs 😭
As someone who was in their early 20's when grunge hit, I'm really impressed with your content on this subject. This is good stuff, truly. Thank you for encouraging viewers to take the time to listen to this mysic, it's a huge part of the lives of Gen X & it appears to still be making an impact on today's young adults too. Grunge really did change music & it was a much-welcomed relief aft the hair band/metal era of the '80's that was part of my teen yrs. Those bands didn't encourage, or appreciate female fans,. Females were seen only as groupies, or a means to an end. Then, Eddie Vedder & Kurt Cobain come onto the scene, stating that they see women as equal fans to men, that women are always welcome to their shows & valued as fans first. Cobain, going as far as wearing dresses on occasion, was most vocal in support of women. Though a number of vitally important members of grunge bands were here but briefly, the body of work left behind & the image portrayed will last a lifetime for each of us. Thank you, again.
We grew up with Punk though
And women were seen differently there
So it wasn't a new Ideology
I guessed this was coming after the Britpop video, I’ve got no clue where you’re gonna go next but I’ll be happily watching.
You forgot PLUSH on Core by STP
I think Mad Season was the last hurrah for “grunge.” Especially Live at the Moore 95’. So much insane talent on stage, from AIC/Pearl Jam/Screaming Trees, playing IN Seattle… doesn’t get better. Above has to be the most overlooked album of the era.
Grunge definitely died in 2024 with my song that peaked at 37 streams on Spotify
Laughs in Grunge Generation
Still here
I highly suggest you listen to a band called Bass Drum of Death. The lead guy John Barrett made the first 4 albums by himself and the first two albums (GB City and Bass Drum of Death) are two of my favorites of all time. It combines the grunge feel of Nirvana with the creativity and modern mindset of a depressed 20 year old. Listen!
Grunge Generation is still here and making music
Thanks
Imitates how we grew up
Including Our Parent's Cultures
Creepy
This is probably one of the best "Grunge History" videos I've come across, killer job man
This is fucking amazing
Pretty good! Not sure if you mentioned Screaming Trees? But definitely an early Seattle Grunge band
He did when going over the list of proto-nevermind grunge EPs

Hey sweetie i subscribed bc of your cuteness, your accent, and your charming wit- with all 3 you could really make this channel as big a success as Anthony Fantano's! He's got nothing on you- you had me smiling and laughing from the beginning to end! Keep up the good work i love the relaxed format yet u were informational and knew your facts! Love it! ❤😊see u next video!!!!
the bit about drain you is so correct. there is no question that it's the best of their songs. it's a shame that people dont know it as well as slts. shame...
fuck love this channel ffs
i think people can like whatever music they like. thats what music is about. its all about the love and if you like it then go for it man. i think more people should be open to more music
I agree with you about Drain You! For me, Sliver would probably be next. As far as “You Know You’re Right”… I find it mid. To me it sounds like a song that Kurt hadn’t really finished writing the lyrics to, so he just had stand in lines until he worked the final ones out. Great video! Very entertaining, and I like your wit! Cheers
No Gruntruck/Love Battery mention, invalid opinion (all jokes aside great video and in depth history of the genre, I recommend Steve Turner of Mudhoney/Green River's biography, great history of the scene)
Bro how did I just find this channel and how the hell you only got 2.5k subs?? You got a unique genuine way making an audio documentary that you either been doin this for years or got a hell of a team behind you and your the puppet lol. Def subbed my dude ! Another controversy was Pearl Jam's dismissal of Dave Abbruzzese after Vitalogy. He was easily one of the best drummers of the grunge bands with a dynamic and creative style. Eddie Vedder clashed with him for some socio-political matters(Dave was a gun owner and Eddie didn't like that), but he actually didn't like his technical drumming and wanted a more "raw" style. Nothing against Jack Irons, but he in no way held a candle to Abbruzzese, who got snubbed when Pearl Jam entered the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame.
I’ll be honest I love Hair Metal and Grunge about the same!! These genres defined their respective eras, and made massive impacts!!
I found hair metal funny and liked the people
But only found it funny in a good way
Did bro just say Ten was best known for Black?
The dirty truth is that the main reason this anti-corporate music reached it level it did was because it was relentlessly pushed on the audience by the corporate powers.
I don't even like hair metal (Dokken have some bangers and Skid Row's Slave to the Grind album is kinda badass but that's about it) but even I will acknowledge its initial rise to mainstream prominence was more organic than grunge's.
Lets go, the most underrated youtuber made a video about the best kind of music

They were probably the most experimental Grunge band in the scene at that time.
Heck I don’t even know, if calling them a Grunge Band does them justice because of how diverse their genres are, despite the fact that some of their earlier stuff are definitely Grunge.
So Hold your finger down on the iPhone screen tlll a wee yellow square appears and says "AE/AF Lock" and that locks the ISO to what you currently have.

pour one out for Mark Lanegan.
It's not just some loud mouths from Manchester that replaced Grunge, you should also add the loud mouths from Cali (Green Day, Weezer and Offspring)
They didn't replace it
If anyone has any questions about grunge there is only one answer: Tad.
Tina Bell
Loved growing up in the era
Loved Our Multiracial Cultures
Also In Bloom is better than Drain You

Good video, the music of my childhood, great music a bit dark probably a big reason the 3rd wave of Ska, and jazz revival around the mid 90's happened needed something to pick us up, wash our hair, put on some nicer clothes and smile, cause life really wasn't that bad
What are you talking about '' our ''
Grunge was young adults
Not children
Im 42 and remember all this. I was in junior high school, bedecked in flannels with Docs and greasy hair. You did a pretty god job, way better than a full-on shitshow. In fact, you fked up so much I hit subscribe and "all" while laughing loud enough to startle my cat. Sometimes an alcoholic fetus makes for Grade A entertainment. Gonna go look at some of your other garbage now.
Grunge came up early mid 80s
Became popular in the 90s

The smashing pumpkins hate is crazy. This videos got a lot of shit takes.

@@vladlenninsmidnightcommies I will. Smashing Pumpkins were better than most of the big 4, don't @ me, and Billy corgan was the best guitarist in that scene.
@@barrett7169 mAN idk, I always thought he was a loudmouth who sees himself as being on Cobains level when pumpkins r just a boring american version of shoegaze
@@vladlenninsmidnightcommies I mean Corgan's a prick but i think he's earned the right to be one. After kurt cobain i think you could argue he's one of the most iconic rockstars of the early 90s. He was also irrefutably a FAR superior artist and musician than Cobain (and i love nirvana even more than pumpkins). Their shoegazey stuff was awesome imo and on the same level as mbv and slowdive (and arguably better than most of the shittier shoegaze bands no one remembers anymore). Their grunge stuff was also on the same level as everything else at the time, if not better. Idk man, I fucking love smashing pumpkins. They were more eclectic than alot of the other bands at the time and I think their first 4 albums were all perfect, but for some reason, they get left out of the conversation in terms of best bands of the 90s alot. Hate to see it.
@@vladlenninsmidnightcommies
I think calling them shoegaze makes me think that you’re not even really familiar, with most of their songs.
Most of their songs are pretty diverse in terms of genres.
Also not to mention, if you actually watch any interviews from Billy Corgan (which I’m assuming you don’t), he said they didn’t wanna be associated with any other rock bands’ style. And The Smashing Pumpkins were already receiving critical attention, even before Nevermind was released anyway.
I think our generation needs another Kurt Cobain. Someone to bring grunge back into the lime light it was once in. I love grunge music but the kids in my school literally despise it and only listen to rap and hip hop. Nothing wrong with that but some kids I know don't even know Kurt, to me that is absurd.
UH

maybe you should try stopping to Cosplay US ?
What a depressing video
As a kid from the 90s alternative scene, I really appreciated this video, therefore it is now mainstream and therefore I don’t like it anymore
Grunge came up in the 80s

@@aotctd and I love you
Your videos would be awesome if you weren't in them. Seriously.
I was 13 in 1991. I still remember the very first time I heard Smells Like Teen Spirit. I was in a hotel room and finally got to watch MTV as we didnt have it at home. I was completely transfixed, because I had basically not enjoyed ANY of the music I had heard before that day and had no real interest in it at all, but this song was very different to my young ears. It sounded raw and angry and like it was speaking directly to me. Music had never done that before. It was a few months after that that I determined I did in fact like music, very much so in fact, but it's just that my mother has awful taste in music and all I had heard before that track was all of the absolute garbage that is "Soft Rock hits of the 80s" that she listened to. I still fucking hate bryan adams, air supply, and Richard Marx. Fuck that music sucks!
Imagine growing up Grunge's Generation
Grunge ended and Post Grunge began the day Nevermind came out. I am sick of people saying Pearl Jam and STP were grunge! 😂 the Melvins, Mudhoney, TAD, and Bleach era Nirvana were grunge. Alice in Chains was just hair metal with extra steps.
That's some impressive gatekeeping.
@@lordtrigon1733 knowing about the nuances of musical genres does not make you a “gatekeeper”. Did you know that hip hop and rap used to be two different genres of music or is that gatekeeping as well?
@@bltvd Actually I just didn't appreciate you saying, "Alice in Chains was just hair metal with extra steps." Uncalled for...

Sorry us gatekeeping Our Generation's and Demography's §hit LMAO !!!!!!!!!!!!
I'd argue that grunge's success can be attributed to women... or at least their attitude to women.
Hair-metal was... not particularly friendly to women. Grunge... yeah that shit was still a sausage-fest but I can imagine women starting more grunge-bands than hair-metal. They had a way better attitude to women too, Cobain and Vedder were hardline feminist-bastards. Then post-grunge came and it turned into divorced-dad rock.
Hair metal's success can also be attributed to women... Thrash metal bands were at war with those guys in the 80's but still went to their shows because as Gary Holt of Exodus explained "that was where all the girls were".
Wasn't really a sausage fest
No offence but I just...HATE GRUNGE....
