    I’ve watched only two of your videos so far and I’m eternally grateful! I almost gave up and practically had my wig in the trash because I could not for the life of me get the tangles out. I learned so much from your videos and you were easy to understand with easy to follow instructions. Thanks again!!

      Tammie Parrish Miller Have you heard about doing the washing and conditioning with a fabric softener? I've never worn a wig, but I just bought a Jon Renau Ignite, and watching several videos, women say it works better than the JR shampoo and conditioner. Have you ever tried that?

      Be sure to only use Synthetic products. Regular human hair products will break down the synthetic hair fiber as well as the cap. It's extremely important to use Synthetic products.

    If you are in a big hurry to dry the wig.After you rinse it roll it up in two towels each rolled up an opposite direction and place it carefully at the bottom of your top loading washer and give it 2 minutes of spin cycle.All the water will go onto the towel and then when you spray the conditioner it will dry in like an hour.Follow all her other instruction like the shaking and such.

    • @Wigsbypattispearls

      The conditioning spray is a leave-in conditioner whereas the HD Detangling Spray is a different product, meant for detangling and is very helpful for heat defiant fibers.

    What temperature can I flat iron my straight synthetic wig after it dries?

    • @Wigsbypattispearls
      @Wigsbypattispearls  Рік тому +1

      If it's heat friendly, we suggest around 270 or 280. If it's not heat friendly, you should not use a flat iron. Instead, you can use a handheld steamer and apply steam to change the look of the fiber.

    how do you do curly wigs that have a set style?

    • @Wigsbypattispearls
      @Wigsbypattispearls  3 роки тому

      You wash them the same way as you would any other synthetic but be very gentle. Make sure that you do not brush/comb the wet curls. Also, just your hand to scrunch the curls after you wash the hair. If the wig is long I would suggest laying it on a towel to dry instead of a wig stand so that the weight of the wet hair doesn't pull the curls loose. Best Wishes!

    Is it bad to want a wig because you just don't want to mess with the hair you got anymore? My hair is so unmanageable and curly that when I try to strengthen it, it just goes right back to being curly again so I just quit with it and just leave it alone. yeah my hair looks straight in my picture but that was from taking an iron at 410 degrees to make it that way if not then no my hair will not go straight. I'm tired of dealing with it and I've tried everything with bed head sprays to oils sprays, different kinds of irons and shampoos and conditioners nothing is working for me. My hair is out of control.

    • @cindymaddux3507

      Yep, same here. I'm tired of spending almost 2 hours trying to make my long hair look decent only to walk out of the house with it up in a pony tail. Not having to go through the thickening products, the hair sprays, expensive shampoo and conditioner, the dry shampoos and other stuff, not to mention the time wasted is more than enough justification for spending money every 9 months or so on a new awesome wig. If you take proper care of them, they will last pretty long. And if you buy a long style, you can trim the ends as needed and it looks as though you have a new wig.

    question please..I have a Jacqueline smith synthetic..can it take the curling iron at 170 degrees. and also if it came with light curl can you curl it a bit tighter without ruining it. I have watched all your videos and have worn wigs over 20 years. my style is exactly as you yourself wear. your videos are priceless to me and I thank you so much.

    • @Wigsbypattispearls
      @Wigsbypattispearls  8 років тому

      +Ruthan Plant If it is a Heat Defiant Synthetic it will be fine. If it's a regular synthetic I wouldn't suggest it. The best thing to change the look of a synthetic wig such as to straighten or add curl is to use a hand held steamer. If you get a change watch this video ua-cam.com/video/a7rCiliiGBo/v-deo.html.

      Thank you. Your videos are so good. Could I use a foam or gel when I wash and curl with soft rollers to hold in a cutlery look? I love the wig you have in this video. You are gorgeous and my style of hair. Did you say that a non heat synthetic can still take the steam?

    • @Wigsbypattispearls
      @Wigsbypattispearls  8 років тому

      +Ruthan Plant You can use styling products such as foam or gels; however, make sure that it is a product that is made for synthetic wigs such as Jon Renau's Flexible spray gel. Yes, you can use steam on non heat synthetics. Only use a hand held steamer.

    What is the name of the wig you are wearing?? I love it. Very helpful video. I am gearing up to buy my first wig and am sort of scared. My natural hair was strawberry blonde until I went white.. I am 64.. and now I am going bald! Its getting harder to hide it! I am so afraid if I go back to a red that people will think me vain.. so should I just stay white, or how do I stop being afraid to put a little color back in my life!

      Patti is wearing Heat in 12FS8 by Jon Renau. We can't really tell you which way to go on color. This is something that you need to decide. Our best advice is to go with what you think looks best and don't worry about others. Make yourself happy!!

      1994abbygirl - I wear wigs out of necessity and just recently decided to go blonder. I was afraid people would think I was trying to look too young for my age. Let me tell you how much better I feel about the way I look! It has put the bounce back in my step! We want to look as good as we can don't we? I honestly feel like it took ten years off of my looks! Good luck with your new wig. I hope you are very happy with your choice. It took me a long time to find one I was totally comfortable with, but I don't have as many choices because I have to have a large size cap and they just don't make many wigs with large caps. Take care!

      @susancantorna1097 7 років тому

      If you think about it -- I'm guessing you really could care less what color wig other people wear. They most likely feel the same way. They are too busy worrying about their own lives to care what color wig you wear. What might happen, though, is that when you pick a bolder color and look great in it, they will want to do the same. All best!!

    • @Wigsbypattispearls

      You can try spritzing in some water and combing it out. If you use the Jon Renau synthetic Hairspray it will just comb right out.

    Hi, I washed my real deal in Estetica shampoo and conditioner and now that it's dry it's oily looking, especially the ends. What can I do?

    • @Wigsbypattispearls
      @Wigsbypattispearls  2 роки тому +1

      When it looks oily after being washed, it can mean a few things. First, most wigs will look slightly oily on the ends once they dry but after you comb them with a wide tooth comb, it will go away. A couple of other things that cause an oily look after washing are that either it wasn't rinsed well enough, or too much conditioner was applied. The next time you wash it, be sure to rinse it under cold running water for a bit. Even if it looks like it's been rinsed well, leave it under the water a little longer. Apply conditioner sparingly. Best of luck!

    im gonna wear wigs because my hair has always been THICK. I learned of grease at age 20 and started using that . BUT now my hair is getting grey and it is like trying to wash FISHING line. I do thin my hair out but it doesn't work long. i don't believe in chemicals so i would never DYE my hair and it is hard to do that to my thick hair anyway.

    Hi 👋 I'm new to synthetic wigs.. I bought a fairly long one and washed it just like you demonstrated. After it dried on a wig stand I combed it through using a wide tooth detailing comb, it was so difficult to comb, kept getting stuck through combing and started to matt up and tangle, what am I doing wrong?... thanks 😊

    • @Wigsbypattispearls
      @Wigsbypattispearls  2 роки тому

      Hi! You can apply a few spritzes of a synthetic wig detangler (we recommend Jon Renau's, found here: www.wigsbypattispearls.com/heat-defiant-detangler-smoother.html) before combing and that will help tremendously😊

    Hi Patti. I have seen people wash their wigs with laundry detergent. Is this Okay to do?

    • @jerickzane
      @jerickzane 8 років тому +1

      read the label instructions and follow, they are there for a reason. Sometimes regular shampoo makes synthetic hair stick together more, and clump up in not a cute way. the cleanser for synthetic wigs makes the wig smell brand new, and helps with static electricity transfer. the laundry detergent will just make it smell like your laundry, I used to use regular shampoo, and laundry detergent on them, but once i used cleanser for synthetic wigs and it was so much better. I will rub a fabric softener sheet on a wig to control static electricity. I still do this. that's my 2 cents worth. j~

    • @Wigsbypattispearls
      @Wigsbypattispearls  8 років тому +1

      We don't suggest doing this. We only suggest using products made for synthetic wigs as other items will break the fiber down over time which will make it not last as long. Another downside is that the fabric softener will relax the knots (where the hair is tied into the cap) which can cause the wig to shed. Best of luck!

    • @Wigsbypattispearls
      @Wigsbypattispearls  8 років тому

      +Nina Turunen If it is a regular synthetic it will remain curly. If it is a heat defiant synthetic it will remain curly if you wash it; however, if you straighten it with a flat iron it will stay straight unless you re-curl it (even if you wash it). If it is human hair it will change when it's washed (just like regular human hair).

      Wigs by Patti's Pearls I have few questions, really new to wigs, thinking of buying one.
      Would you wash a curly wig the same way like you did in this video?
      Do you have to use wig hair products? I have seen people use normal shampoos and conditioners.

    • @Wigsbypattispearls
      @Wigsbypattispearls  7 років тому

      Yes, You would wash it the same way. We do not suggest using regular hair products on synthetic fiber. It will dry the fiber out quickly and cause it to frizz. Remember that this is not real hair. It's synthetic fiber (material) so it would be like washing your hair with laundry detergent. Yes, it will take out dirt but it will also destroy your hair quickly.

    • @LittleImpaler

    • @Wigsbypattispearls
      @Wigsbypattispearls  7 років тому +2

      Absolutely! A regular brush or comb will destroy your synthetic wig. On a curly wig we only suggest using the Jon Renau wide tooth comb as this helps keep the curls at their best.

    where can I buy the detangler spray? What brand do you use?

    • @Wigsbypattispearls
      @Wigsbypattispearls  8 років тому

      +jenny wu We only use Jon Renau Products. There is a Jon Renau Conditioning Spray which should be sprayed in your wig after each wash. Then there is the Jon Renau HD Smooth Detangler which is for both regular synthetics and HD Synthetics. This is to be used daily. When you take your wig off you will spray the wig really well and then comb through with the wide tooth comb. This spray works wonders. Synthetic wigs tend to get fuzzy underneath and at the ends (the longer the wig the worse it is). If you will use this HD Smooth Detangler your wide tooth comb will glide right through. Using this product really makes a difference in the wig. Patti also has a Synthetic defrizz video which shows you to revive your synthetic wig using this product along with steam. Another great product that I highly advise is the Jon Renau Wig Luster. If you will spray it all over your wig once or twice a week (if you wear the wig daily) it will keep the hair looking nice and healthy. The HD Smooth Detangler and the Wig Luster are my 2 favorite products as they make a huge difference with the wigs.
