I’ve watched only two of your videos so far and I’m eternally grateful! I almost gave up and practically had my wig in the trash because I could not for the life of me get the tangles out. I learned so much from your videos and you were easy to understand with easy to follow instructions. Thanks again!! 💕💇🏼💕
I love this lady I love her spirit is so beautiful her personality and her style is right on she has encouraged me so much and she doesn't even have to say a word because of her along with a few other points let's say has gave me the courage to start wearing wigs she has made it so comfortable for me to make that decision I want to say thank you
Bryanna O - I've been wearing synthetic wig for years and have found that using the proper products for synthetic wigs is the only way to keep my wigs in the best possible condition.
Tammie Parrish Miller Have you heard about doing the washing and conditioning with a fabric softener? I've never worn a wig, but I just bought a Jon Renau Ignite, and watching several videos, women say it works better than the JR shampoo and conditioner. Have you ever tried that?
Thanks for the guide! I have a couple wigs I have for an "adult" doll and have been taking care of my wigs all wrong. This guide helped so much! Thank you! 💙
Thank you so much! I'm thinking about buying a synthetic wig. I have a human hair wig I've been using for several years, and it's time to get a new one, so I'm thinking about trying a synthetic wig. I appreciate you showing how to take care of a synthetic wig. Thanks again.
OMG, thank you so much for this!! ♡ I bought my first wig about a month ago and tried washing it once. Now I was afraid that it's not for me because it feels matted and gross. Turns out I just washed it wrong! Thank you x3!!
i love this video, and how good she explains things.she makes me understand quite easily.I'm very young (21) and I'm just browsing through how to care for certain types of wigs, because I'm just starting off.Thank you!Hope to see more videos!
I want to thank you, Patti for all the tips & tricks I've learned from watching your video's! I've worn wigs for years and didn't know a lot of things you've shown! You're a Great teacher!
Hi :) Was just wondering...once you washed your synthetic wig, did it stay the way it was before washing? I'm so scared that washing mine will change it.
Patti! First time owning a wig. You are a true treasure! Not only was your video super helpful I also had a lot of fun washing my wig with your video. :)
I enjoy your videos so much..please don't stop, there very informative and it's an added benefit for our knowledge....more confidence....Thank You carol
Excellent video! I have about a dozen synthetic wigs and hair extensions that I wear (for fun) to Hair school...your video has great tips..I have a couple that need to be reconditioned! I will be following your video and sharing them with my classmates! XO
can a non heat synthetic handle the stream? I am so delighted with your directions of preparing your hair for first wear. you are so informative..I'm so delighted I have found your web. I believe all you say...thank you. and thank you for answering so quickly. you are a winner!
hi, Patty. I really like the week you are wearing. You mention the name of it but I couldn't make out all of the words. I got Jon Renau and the word Heat but I did not hear it the style name. May I ask you for that information please? Thank you. Jo
They name of the wig is Heat. It is made by Jon Renau and the color is 12FS8. Here is the direct link to it on our website: www.wigsbypattispearls.com/heat-hd-heat-defiant-wig-by-jon-renau.html
I've read that you can soak it in woolite or mix 1/3 woolite to 2/3 water in a spray bottle to condition it as well. What are your thoughts on that method? Instead of using a specially made conditioner.
Thank you. I've lost hair and color because of hypothyroidism. I tried the synthetic wigs but they always are frizzy. I will wash the wigs as you described and I will use the steamer method as well.
Hi Miss Patti! Do you need anything special for curly synthetic units or human blend wigs? Including what tools do you recommend as well! Thank you so very much in advance! Happy holidays to you and yours! New subbie! 😍
First I would love to know what style that wig you're working on is. . . .second, I recently bought the Zara bcuz my hair has been thinning for the last few years and I LOVE IT!!! I have gotten so many compliments on it and can't wait to buy a couple more but in different colors! My self-confidence is so much better and everyone thinks it's just my own hair.!! Thank you so much Patti and I love you and your videos.
Be sure to only use Synthetic products. Regular human hair products will break down the synthetic hair fiber as well as the cap. It's extremely important to use Synthetic products.
If you are in a big hurry to dry the wig. After you rinse it roll it up in two towels each rolled up an opposite direction and place it carefully at the bottom of your top loading washer and give it 2 minutes of spin cycle. All the water will go onto the towel and then when you spray the conditioner it will dry in like an hour.Follow all her other instruction like the shaking and such.
Hi Tracy! The conditioning spray is a leave-in conditioner whereas the HD Detangling Spray is a different product, meant for detangling and is very helpful for heat defiant fibers.
If it's heat friendly, we suggest around 270 or 280. If it's not heat friendly, you should not use a flat iron. Instead, you can use a handheld steamer and apply steam to change the look of the fiber.
Love this video -- thanks very much. New to wigs and this was sooo helpful. Question: The shorter wig that already dry that you showed us at the end - what was it? The name/make. It's one of the most beautiful short wig cuts I've ever seen. Can you share? Thank you!
You wash them the same way as you would any other synthetic but be very gentle. Make sure that you do not brush/comb the wet curls. Also, just your hand to scrunch the curls after you wash the hair. If the wig is long I would suggest laying it on a towel to dry instead of a wig stand so that the weight of the wet hair doesn't pull the curls loose. Best Wishes!
Is it bad to want a wig because you just don't want to mess with the hair you got anymore? My hair is so unmanageable and curly that when I try to strengthen it, it just goes right back to being curly again so I just quit with it and just leave it alone. yeah my hair looks straight in my picture but that was from taking an iron at 410 degrees to make it that way if not then no my hair will not go straight. I'm tired of dealing with it and I've tried everything with bed head sprays to oils sprays, different kinds of irons and shampoos and conditioners nothing is working for me. My hair is out of control.
Yep, same here. I'm tired of spending almost 2 hours trying to make my long hair look decent only to walk out of the house with it up in a pony tail. Not having to go through the thickening products, the hair sprays, expensive shampoo and conditioner, the dry shampoos and other stuff, not to mention the time wasted is more than enough justification for spending money every 9 months or so on a new awesome wig. If you take proper care of them, they will last pretty long. And if you buy a long style, you can trim the ends as needed and it looks as though you have a new wig.
I have a synthetic wig that I used a little wig hair spray on the bangs. When I washed it the spray did not come out and when it dried it looked flakey and white. I use Jon Renau wig care products. Please tell me how do I get the spray out of the wig ~ it looks awful and unwearable! Love your videos ~ I have learned a lot ~ thank you.
Try using dawn dish soaps it cleans it good and washes off all the residue on ur wig.. And kinda swish the water around with ur hand..let set for a few hours in the dawn and rinse with cold water and stray detegler
Hi Dori! I'm so sorry....this video was made in 2014 and we did not log the styles. Patti was just using them to show how to wash a wig. If you are looking for a particular style, please take a look at our website at www.wigsbypattispearls.com to see if you can find something that you like. You can also contact our Customer Service team at support@wigsbypattispearls.com or 800-670-3292 and they will be happy to assist you.
We only use Jon Renau Products. For Synthetics you would use the Synthetic Shampoo, Synthetic Conditioning Spray and the HD Smoothing Detangler. This detangler works wonders on synthetic fiber!
question please..I have a Jacqueline smith synthetic..can it take the curling iron at 170 degrees. and also if it came with light curl can you curl it a bit tighter without ruining it. I have watched all your videos and have worn wigs over 20 years. my style is exactly as you yourself wear. your videos are priceless to me and I thank you so much.
+Ruthan Plant If it is a Heat Defiant Synthetic it will be fine. If it's a regular synthetic I wouldn't suggest it. The best thing to change the look of a synthetic wig such as to straighten or add curl is to use a hand held steamer. If you get a change watch this video ua-cam.com/video/a7rCiliiGBo/v-deo.html.
Thank you. Your videos are so good. Could I use a foam or gel when I wash and curl with soft rollers to hold in a cutlery look? I love the wig you have in this video. You are gorgeous and my style of hair. Did you say that a non heat synthetic can still take the steam?
+Ruthan Plant You can use styling products such as foam or gels; however, make sure that it is a product that is made for synthetic wigs such as Jon Renau's Flexible spray gel. Yes, you can use steam on non heat synthetics. Only use a hand held steamer.
What is the name of the wig you are wearing?? I love it. Very helpful video. I am gearing up to buy my first wig and am sort of scared. My natural hair was strawberry blonde until I went white.. I am 64.. and now I am going bald! Its getting harder to hide it! I am so afraid if I go back to a red that people will think me vain.. so should I just stay white, or how do I stop being afraid to put a little color back in my life!
Patti is wearing Heat in 12FS8 by Jon Renau. We can't really tell you which way to go on color. This is something that you need to decide. Our best advice is to go with what you think looks best and don't worry about others. Make yourself happy!!
1994abbygirl - I wear wigs out of necessity and just recently decided to go blonder. I was afraid people would think I was trying to look too young for my age. Let me tell you how much better I feel about the way I look! It has put the bounce back in my step! We want to look as good as we can don't we? I honestly feel like it took ten years off of my looks! Good luck with your new wig. I hope you are very happy with your choice. It took me a long time to find one I was totally comfortable with, but I don't have as many choices because I have to have a large size cap and they just don't make many wigs with large caps. Take care!
If you think about it -- I'm guessing you really could care less what color wig other people wear. They most likely feel the same way. They are too busy worrying about their own lives to care what color wig you wear. What might happen, though, is that when you pick a bolder color and look great in it, they will want to do the same. All best!!
What is the name of the last wig u held up? I missed it somewhere. Please advise. Thanks for the great demo. I can offer this as a service to my customers now. I make scarfs here at home in Michigan.
I love ur video! Lol ur super cute and definitely gave me good info! I think i actually like your vid better then younger ppls lol great job hun keep it. Up! * new fan! *
+Emma To keep a synthetic wig looking its best and lasting as long as possible you should only use a Synthetic Wig Shampoo and Conditioner. We suggest Jon Renau but as long as its made for synthetic wigs it should be fine.
When it looks oily after being washed, it can mean a few things. First, most wigs will look slightly oily on the ends once they dry but after you comb them with a wide tooth comb, it will go away. A couple of other things that cause an oily look after washing are that either it wasn't rinsed well enough, or too much conditioner was applied. The next time you wash it, be sure to rinse it under cold running water for a bit. Even if it looks like it's been rinsed well, leave it under the water a little longer. Apply conditioner sparingly. Best of luck!
im gonna wear wigs because my hair has always been THICK. I learned of grease at age 20 and started using that . BUT now my hair is getting grey and it is like trying to wash FISHING line. I do thin my hair out but it doesn't work long. i don't believe in chemicals so i would never DYE my hair and it is hard to do that to my thick hair anyway.
Patti, love, love, love ALL your videos, they are so very helpful. What is the style of the wig you are wearing and also, in the Jon Renau, Drew wig, I must know what the name of that wig is also. They are beautiful on you, like everything you do!
Just got to our website at www.wigsbypattispearls.com and click on "Accessories". If you need any help you can always contact support at support@wigsbypattispearls.com and we'll be happy to assist you.
Hi 👋 I'm new to synthetic wigs.. I bought a fairly long one and washed it just like you demonstrated. After it dried on a wig stand I combed it through using a wide tooth detailing comb, it was so difficult to comb, kept getting stuck through combing and started to matt up and tangle, what am I doing wrong?... thanks 😊
Hi! You can apply a few spritzes of a synthetic wig detangler (we recommend Jon Renau's, found here: www.wigsbypattispearls.com/heat-defiant-detangler-smoother.html) before combing and that will help tremendously😊
Would doing this once a week damage the hair? I'm a heavy sweater and work in a non-air conditioned building. I haven't actually gotten my wig yet, I just ordered one online and am waiting for it to come in but I like to be prepared :)
read the label instructions and follow, they are there for a reason. Sometimes regular shampoo makes synthetic hair stick together more, and clump up in not a cute way. the cleanser for synthetic wigs makes the wig smell brand new, and helps with static electricity transfer. the laundry detergent will just make it smell like your laundry, I used to use regular shampoo, and laundry detergent on them, but once i used cleanser for synthetic wigs and it was so much better. I will rub a fabric softener sheet on a wig to control static electricity. I still do this. that's my 2 cents worth. j~
We don't suggest doing this. We only suggest using products made for synthetic wigs as other items will break the fiber down over time which will make it not last as long. Another downside is that the fabric softener will relax the knots (where the hair is tied into the cap) which can cause the wig to shed. Best of luck!
I was wondering if you could tell me what kind of spray in conditioner Patti uses and where can I find it? Also I wear curly to wavy wigs so can you direct me to a video on how to get the napping at the neck line fixed??? You help would be great :) Thanks
Please click on the link below to view our Jon Renau Conditioner. Another item we strongly recommend for your curly style is our Jon Renau HD smoother detangler, it’s an amazing products that automatically takes away the frizz & brings it back to life. How to defrizz- ua-cam.com/users/wigsbypattisearch?query=frizz HD Smoother- www.wigsbypattispearls.com/heat-defiant-detangler-smoother.html Jon Renau conditioner- www.wigsbypattispearls.com/jr-conditioning-spray.html
+Nina Turunen If it is a regular synthetic it will remain curly. If it is a heat defiant synthetic it will remain curly if you wash it; however, if you straighten it with a flat iron it will stay straight unless you re-curl it (even if you wash it). If it is human hair it will change when it's washed (just like regular human hair).
Wigs by Patti's Pearls I have few questions, really new to wigs, thinking of buying one. Would you wash a curly wig the same way like you did in this video? Do you have to use wig hair products? I have seen people use normal shampoos and conditioners.
Yes, You would wash it the same way. We do not suggest using regular hair products on synthetic fiber. It will dry the fiber out quickly and cause it to frizz. Remember that this is not real hair. It's synthetic fiber (material) so it would be like washing your hair with laundry detergent. Yes, it will take out dirt but it will also destroy your hair quickly.
Absolutely! A regular brush or comb will destroy your synthetic wig. On a curly wig we only suggest using the Jon Renau wide tooth comb as this helps keep the curls at their best.
Hi! Patti is using Jon Renau's Fiber Love products: Conditioning Spray for Synthetic Hair, Shampoo for Synthetic Hair, and HD Smooth Detangler. These are all sold on our website😊 www.wigsbypattispearls.com/jr-conditioning-spray.html
+jenny wu We only use Jon Renau Products. There is a Jon Renau Conditioning Spray which should be sprayed in your wig after each wash. Then there is the Jon Renau HD Smooth Detangler which is for both regular synthetics and HD Synthetics. This is to be used daily. When you take your wig off you will spray the wig really well and then comb through with the wide tooth comb. This spray works wonders. Synthetic wigs tend to get fuzzy underneath and at the ends (the longer the wig the worse it is). If you will use this HD Smooth Detangler your wide tooth comb will glide right through. Using this product really makes a difference in the wig. Patti also has a Synthetic defrizz video which shows you to revive your synthetic wig using this product along with steam. Another great product that I highly advise is the Jon Renau Wig Luster. If you will spray it all over your wig once or twice a week (if you wear the wig daily) it will keep the hair looking nice and healthy. The HD Smooth Detangler and the Wig Luster are my 2 favorite products as they make a huge difference with the wigs.
+Wigs by Patti's Pearls Thank you for your advice. The tutorial was very helpful. I just got a new wig (human hair) I was scared to wash it, because I used my savings to get it and I don't want to ruined it. At least, now I can take good care of it.
+jenny wu Hi Jenny! if you got a human hair wig be sure to use Human Hair wig products and not the products that we went over in the last message. I suggest the Jon Renau Human Hair Kit for the Human Hair wigs. Here is the video for human hair care, ua-cam.com/video/PrkbN2lf3W8/v-deo.html.

What temperature can I flat iron my straight synthetic wig after it dries?
If it's heat friendly, we suggest around 270 or 280. If it's not heat friendly, you should not use a flat iron. Instead, you can use a handheld steamer and apply steam to change the look of the fiber.

how do you do curly wigs that have a set style?

You can also contact our Customer Service team at support@wigsbypattispearls.com or 800-670-3292 and they will be happy to assist you.
Thank you !!
I'm sure it's been said and I've missed it somehow but... Could you please share what kinda detangle spray and shampoo you use?!?
We only use Jon Renau Products. For Synthetics you would use the Synthetic Shampoo, Synthetic Conditioning Spray and the HD Smoothing Detangler. This detangler works wonders on synthetic fiber!
Patti is using Jon Renau Shampoo, Jon Renau Conditioner and Jon Renau HD Smooth Detangler.
question please..I have a Jacqueline smith synthetic..can it take the curling iron at 170 degrees. and also if it came with light curl can you curl it a bit tighter without ruining it.
Excellent - great FYI for a wig newbie.
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching! 💖😊
Thank you! Your right.. I just need a boost to not be afraid of what others will think!
All best!!
She said she is wearing Shaded Praline -- 12FS8. There are also rooted shades that are in the reds in the Jon Renau line.
What is the name of the last wig u held up? I missed it somewhere. Please advise. Thanks for the great demo. I can offer this as a service to my customers now. I make scarfs here at home in Michigan.
Hi Elaine!
We are not sure which wig Patti is washing in this video as it was not logged when this video was filmed a few years ago!
I love ur video! Lol ur super cute and definitely gave me good info! I think i actually like your vid better then younger ppls lol great job hun keep it. Up! * new fan! *
Can you wash a synthetic wig with a mixture of laundry detergent and fabric softener?
+Emma To keep a synthetic wig looking its best and lasting as long as possible you should only use a Synthetic Wig Shampoo and Conditioner. We suggest Jon Renau but as long as its made for synthetic wigs it should be fine.
Wigs by Patti's Pearls I would like to know the products you use could you list please that would be awesome. Thank you for your videos....
Hi, how can I get hairspray out of the frontal part lace wig...I don't want to wash the whole wig...thanks for your time?
You can try spritzing in some water and combing it out. If you use the Jon Renau synthetic Hairspray it will just comb right out.
Thank you so much!!!!
My pats play pal dolls synthetic wig hair was such a mess i ordered a new wig now Know how to clean it
You are very informative! Thank you.
Hi, I washed my real deal in Estetica shampoo and conditioner and now that it's dry it's oily looking, especially the ends. What can I do?
When it looks oily after being washed, it can mean a few things. First, most wigs will look slightly oily on the ends once they dry but after you comb them with a wide tooth comb, it will go away. A couple of other things that cause an oily look after washing are that either it wasn't rinsed well enough, or too much conditioner was applied. The next time you wash it, be sure to rinse it under cold running water for a bit. Even if it looks like it's been rinsed well, leave it under the water a little longer. Apply conditioner sparingly. Best of luck!
@@Wigsbypattispearls Thank you! I think I overdid the conditioner. I will redo it. Happy Thanksgiving.
im gonna wear wigs because my hair has always been THICK. I learned of grease at age 20 and started using that . BUT now my hair is getting grey and it is like trying to wash FISHING line. I do thin my hair out but it doesn't work long. i don't believe in chemicals so i would never DYE my hair and it is hard to do that to my thick hair anyway.
I love the video!
What is the last wig which Patti said that she washed the night before (blonde wig)?
That is Ignite by Jon Renau. At 7 minutes and 42 seconds into the video Patti tells the name.
I love the blonde wig you had se one. What is the color and style I want to order that one.
Hi! The blonde wig that Patti is holding up at the end of the video is Ignite by Jon Renau in 12FS8: www.wigsbypattispearls.com/ignite-wig.html
Patti, love, love, love ALL your videos, they are so very helpful. What is the style of the wig you are wearing and also, in the Jon Renau, Drew wig, I must know what the name of that wig is also. They are beautiful on you, like everything you do!

How often do I need to shampoo my wigs? Thank you
About every 6 to 8 wears (assuming that during those 6 to 8 wears you are wearing them for 5 or more hours a day).
Did she use wig detangaler or regular hair detangaler
Wig- It's Jon Renau HD Smooth Detangler
Is like to know what wig that little blonde one is? cute
Ignite by Jon Renau
@4:27 Patti sounds like she's in a musical singing haha :D so cute
I Love this woman.
Thank you Patti I needed this video!!!!
Do I have to wash my wig before I use it for the first Time?
No
Hi 👋 I'm new to synthetic wigs..
@@Wigsbypattispearls thankyou so much 💖
Would doing this once a week damage the hair? I'm a heavy sweater and work in a non-air conditioned building. I haven't actually gotten my wig yet, I just ordered one online and am waiting for it to come in but I like to be prepared :)
Most people do wash them about once a week
Do you sell and ship this shampoo internationally? Im from The Netherlands
We sure do. You can find it on our website at www.wigsbypattispearls.com
Hi Patti. I have seen people wash their wigs with laundry detergent. Is this Okay to do?
read the label instructions and follow, they are there for a reason.
Wigs by Patti's Pearls can a cyntetic wig be re clourd
I was wondering if you could tell me what kind of spray in conditioner Patti uses and where can I find it? Also I wear curly to wavy wigs so can you direct me to a video on how to get the napping at the neck line fixed??? You help would be great :) Thanks
Please click on the link below to view our Jon Renau Conditioner. Another item we strongly recommend for your curly style is our Jon Renau HD smoother detangler, it’s an amazing products that automatically takes away the frizz & brings it back to life.

Thank you :)
Thank you so much.
If i wash my curly wig will it lose the curls and become straight?
And if Ibraid it will it become wavy
+Nina Turunen If it is a regular synthetic it will remain curly. If it is a heat defiant synthetic it will remain curly if you wash it; however, if you straighten it with a flat iron it will stay straight unless you re-curl it (even if you wash it). If it is human hair it will change when it's washed (just like regular human hair).
+Nina Turunen It's possible that it may become wavy; however, if it's synthetic it will go back to normal when it's washed.
she's the best!! 😍
Do you have to wear a wig cap
No, this is a preference; however, if you have hair it will make it much easier.
Thank you, Patti😃
You bet!🥰
Ma'am, I feel like your grandchildren will get heart disease by comes over for the weekend😂 you have this classic southern charm
does a curly wig loose its curl if you wash it?
Wigs by Patti's Pearls Thank you!😊
Wigs by Patti's Pearls I have few questions, really new to wigs, thinking of buying one.
Wigs by Patti's Pearls Thank you, do you have to use brushes and combs made for wigs as well?
Absolutely! A regular brush or comb will destroy your synthetic wig. On a curly wig we only suggest using the Jon Renau wide tooth comb as this helps keep the curls at their best.
What is the name of the hair care products used?
Hi! Patti is using Jon Renau's Fiber Love products: Conditioning Spray for Synthetic Hair, Shampoo for Synthetic Hair, and HD Smooth Detangler. These are all sold on our website😊 www.wigsbypattispearls.com/jr-conditioning-spray.html
where can I buy the detangler spray? What brand do you use?
Hello! What brand is the detangler you're using and where can I find it?
