I have listening Malmsteen over 30 years. For 6 th birthday, I bought to my dear daughter classic Yamaha guitar and complete of maestro Yngwie Johann Malmsteen CDs. As far as classical guitar goes she is better off listening to Ana Vidovic or Maestro Paco De Lucia or Maestro Paco Pena ( Flamenco ). You realise that classical guitar is played with the fingers and not the plectrum ? Y. Malmsteen isn't a traditional classical guitar player afaik , but I could be wrong,... Later I brought her to private lessons in "classic, rock and fusion guitar learning events" - 6 hours every saturday, and 2 hours daily practice of various guitar tasks. Names of guitarists are mr. Hamo Salihbegovic , frontman of rock band Konvoj from Sarajevo, as licenced academy teacher. His style is clear and sharp rock and blues, but with obligatory knowledge of basic theory and expressed wish for particular style. She was stunned and visibly impressed with Malmsteen melodies, which she already recognize as "some kind of old classic from school". She needed the proper lessons in that way.🧐 I know very well mrs.Ana Vidovic, serbian maestra of guitar, and I highly appreciate her bursting talented work, as shown in her performance of Isaac Albeniz "Asturias", for example.🙂 Such artist from our Balkan region were ,of course, in daughter PC folders. Now she describe whole way as "enjoying to fly with fingers as Maestro , as I imagine underlaying story in 2-3 minuts" . I wasn't aware of most of the Slavic guitar players that you have mentioned. I will look them up for sure. My guitar playing background was initially rock and blues, but then I found something a lot more challenging over the years which was " Flamenco guitar " from Spain. I am self taught and I know very little music theory. With Flamenco guitar you don't really concentrate on the theory as much. It is more of guitar playing from the heart. Although to be a great Flamenco guitarist you need to master 7 or 8 basic Flamenco techniques. The rest is all up to you,and what comes from your soul. Your daughter is still young but if she loves the guitar she also should be introduced to the Great Flamenco Virtuosos such as Sabicas, Paco De Lucia and Paco Pena. In my books they are the 3 greatest guitarists that have ever lived. They say that this could be the greatest guitar music that has ever been performed by these 3 legendary guitarists. Yeah he's great too. I actually attended a guitar clinic of his many years ago and was incredibly impressed by how clean Michelangelo was. Also, he brought that amazing double flying V guitar he'd had since Savatage. High praise indeed, but Yngwie was a trailblazer, doing it brand new. Vinnie Moore, T. McAlpine, etc...were a bit late to the party. All excellent musicians in their own right though, truly.
I remember when he played the Omni in Atlanta and he didn't come with a band he just had a table full of pedals and he played by himself, No band and he was just amazing,I had his 2nd album Marching Out,he was just incredible, I was like is he crazy,Then Queensryche came on then Iron Maiden after that,it was a pretty good night,🤔

He influenced music listeners as well as guitarists. He was a major influence to Jeff Loomis and if you've never heard of him I suggest Googling Jeff Loomis and Jato unit. 60+ years old leather pants, Elvis's sideburns and Paganinis fingers Super Lead Stratocaster. Huge EVH fan first time I saw YJM was when he opened up for AC/DC in Minnesota in 1984 (college days). Last time I saw him was 3 maybe 4 years ago at State Theatre in Arlington VA. Still a little (ok very) crazy but still 1 of the all time greats. I think he could lose a few mph in speed and still mesmerize bcs he is the ONE who invented and perfected that neo-Classical shred style. No one else comes close and it's been a TON of years. Keep on rocking Yngwie!
Actually, I love watching him shred the guitar. The only thing I didn’t care for was looking at the back of that chic’s head recording him. Other than that, I thought it sounded excellent extraordinary! Some guy said in a comment about him, “pimping” his music up well most bands that are on tour today and I quote” “pimping” up their music Actually, it sounds like the first time I ever heard the song Like Journey, Alice Cooper, Sammy Hagar, Etc I love the fact these Legends are still performing for us playing that they’re still around to play for us “pimping” up their music! I've been saying the same thing for years.. Alcatrazz was Yngwies best playing years, well thought out solos and magical tone. I put this down to him being a member of a band, as opposed to him being the captain.
Nah man he had some killer recordings in the 90s , fire and ice, seventh sign, magnun opus, inspiration, facing the animal, it was after 2000 that everything he recorded really sucks.
Took him a second to settle in but once he stopped being flashy and playing w his hair it got real... I love yngwie and his music is epic and truly timeless. He is a master and will likely be forgotten because his niche is so unpopular in the mainstream. Its true he is not as clean as he used to be but it doesn't take away from his genius or originality. Yngwie is responsible for a majority of the shred wave from the 80s so at this point its just postscript

Took him a second to settle in but once he stopped being flashy and playing w his hair it got real... I love yngwie and his music is epic and truly timeless. He is a master and will likely be forgotten because his niche is so unpopular in the mainstream. Its true he is not as clean as he used to be but it doesn't take away from his genius or originality. Yngwie is responsible for a majority of the shred wave from the 80s so at this point its just postscript
