Maybe a couple of years it was. I was in bed and really feeling I was alone, that I was feeling the lack of Gods presence. I was just breaking my heart and praying for Him not to leave me. Then I "heard" a voice, but it wasn't audible as such but an audible thought? I can't even explain it. It was so gentle and told me "You are My daughter and I will never forsake you". I cant begin to say how I felt after but knew God had spoken to me. A few short words but said everything
I woke up one day from a loud voice that said to me "Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness". It was after much prayer asking for direction. Amazing!
Christine, Interesting. For it is already in the Bible (gospel of Matthew 6, verse 33). So what did you exactly do to be obedient to it? What does it look like in your day-to-day life to seek first the kingdom of God? How can anyone from outside see that you first seek God's righteousness? For hearing without obeying is like a house on drifty sand, collapsing when circumstances get rough. Hope you build up your "house of faith" smarter. So enlighten and encourage us, if you please. As a young man I happen to be walking with buddies on a nice hike. Then suddenly I heard a loud inner voice, like it resonates in your soul. My name was called STEPHEN! I turned around looking back?? I had no idea, but today I know that was Jesus calling me. This happened multiple times Until I became born again and baptized receiving Christ as my Lord and savior. Indeed the Lord calls us because we have been chosen beforr the foundation of the world.
I don’t understand how someone (some who comments) that calls themselves Christian can be ugly and rude to others who don’t agree with his teaching. Let’s pray for a better response to others and see others how Christ can see them. Let’s all pray that these people can come to truth and allows themselves to instead call others untruthful to seek God’s truth and word themselves. God bless
This presupposes that the teacher is correct, “truth” is the scripture not someone who tells us what the scripture means, 1 john 2 says we don’t need a teacher to tell us what the scripture means the Holy Spirit” teaches us
Limiting God is dangerous. God is unique and so are we. God speaks to me in my conscience. I dont hear it in my ears but in my spirit/soul. I always pray for me to know if that is his will and ask for biblical backup. We are to take every thought captive. God in his word gives us general guidelines but he wants to be involved in every little detail in our lives. When we seek to do Gods will he will gently nudge us in making the right choice. When going the wrong direction the alarm (Holy Spirit) starts to sound. Usually it's what we call "anxiety". God communicates with us if we are willing to listen. Although what we hear must never contradict scripture he does take a much more active role than just scripture. Also I would be wary of someone telling me that God doesnt talk to us when they dont believe that signs and wonders dont exist anymore and were only for the 1st century church. Jesus told us the signs that would follow those that are believers. ALL BELIEVERS not just 1st century believers. God bless you all.

Well for starters when we pray we aren’t “hearing” Gods voice. Prayer is about voicing OUR concerns to God. If you want to hear God’s voice then read your Bible. That’s the word of God speaking to us.
So you’re saying you can’t hear the voice of God does that not mean you don’t have the Holy Spirit or are you saying the Holy Spirit does not speak to you or is the Holy Spirit not God ? I have the Holy Spirit and he clearly speaks softly to me and does so every day since I received the Holy Spirit and that voice came the same day my supernatural gifts arrived now I sing pray and speak in many many languages that’s the gift of tongues and I’m aware this teacher does not believe in the Gifts because he openly tells people he’s a sensationalist
Will Woodfall I understand your point I am struggling to get the point across to so many who tell me this verse and that verse but when I say to them God told me this and God told me that they quote another verse and they don’t get that I have the gifts I hear the voice of god I speak in tongues the day I was on my knees repenting I felt the love of God and I translate tongues too the things I know that they tell me I’m wrong but the truth is they put the book before Gods words and they don’t like it that I say to them that God himself told me the bible was first corrupted in the year 376 ad and but yet they cling to the modern day bible more than they believe in the lord it’s truly hard to take but then I always remember the words of Jesus say many will come to the narrow straight gate but I tell you very few will get thru the first lessen I was told by the soft spoken voice was the narrow path but yet so many believe it’s not the way they believe the 10 commandments don’t stand anyway enjoy your evening and God bless brethren love you in the name of Jesus of Nazareth amen
I never heard Gods audible voice, but God does not work in the same way with everyone of His children. I do believe that you heard Gods voice too, maybe you needed to hear Him audibly at that time in your life! Remember, God supplies all our needs, so He gave you what you needed at that time!
It was if u felt Him. He's talked to me to. I was very close to God bc He was all I had since birth. He would talk to me by giving answers that I didn't have. And in the middle of breaking down. Yr brain doesn't process logical thought when yr breaking down emotionally in that moment.
I decided instead of quietly praying in that stuffy kind of impersonal way that I would speak to the Lord as if he was standing next to me. It was trully amazing, like talking to my dad. Openly asking questions and often getting the answers before I had even finished the questions, laughing and trully having a good time. I know this is not my mind bc the lord tells me what I need to hear not what I want to hear. Never has he cursed, said anything negative and if it's my subconscious..why would I ask myself things I already know?
Everything taught here aligns with scripture as far as I’ve studied it. I like how John MacArthur articulates it: when the Holy Spirit works, we don’t feel it, but rather we see the fruit of it later. When the Lord is speaking, He is speaking through His Word. When we pray, our hearts and minds are put in front of God and we are submitting them to His control. Between studying the Word and praying believers ought to be able to look back at their past circumstances and see the work of the Holy Spirit, and in faith know that God is working out all the present circumstances of their lives for His good and the good of those who love Him. What more do we need to hear?
I’ll share a story with everyone, the Lord has always been there for me throughout my life, he has saved me from many a bad situation, and so I was driving one day and I was about to make a left hand turn a route I drove daily and I was coming up to the turn and all of a sudden I like heard this don’t turn in my head and all of a sudden there was an 18 wheeler passing me, I didn’t see this semi at all, If I hadn’t stop right when I heard that in my head it would have been instant death I’m sure because this road is a 55 mph.
I belive it was back in July of 2007 I had been laying on the couch talking to my son who was sitting in his chair. Next thing I hear is a voice calling my name. First time is was very suttle, the second time a little bit firmer, and the third time it was very strong and deep. I sat streight up on the couch. I looked over where my son had been sitting and the light beside his chair was still on but he was gone. I looked around the room and didn't see anyone so I crept thru the house and everyone had gone to bed and it had already gotten late at night but it was so real that I had to check the whole house out to make sure no one was in the house it that wasn't supposed to be and I saw no one. Kind of baffled I went and laid back down on the couch and went to sleep. When I heard this voice it was like I wasn't asleep but I wasn't awake either, if that makes sense. The next morning it was heavy on my mind and I told my son and another man that had came over about the experience I had had and said to them that I thought God had spoke to me and then i corrected myself and said no, I know God spoke to me. About 5 years later I was around a friend of mine who was and still is a preacher and I had remembered him telling me that God had spoke to him and this had been on my mind quite often ever sense I had experienced what had happened to me but I never had asked him what God said to him. So I wanted to asked him what God said to him and told him I belive that God had spoke to me but before I told him what I thought God had said to me, could he please tell me what he had said to him years prior and he told me God had call his name three times while he was driving down the road. I told him that I had experienced the same thing except I was kind of, best way I could put it, in between sleep and awake and that really wasn't the way I felt but it's the only way I new to explain it. I asked him what he did and he said he pulled of the road and started to pray for God to show him or let him know what He wanted from him. I didn't know to do this at the time but I still pray for God to show me what He wanted when He called my name. One of the first things I thought of was when Jesus call Lazareth's name three times and he arose. I'm still not sure what God wanted from me but I do know He wants me to live for Him and be a witness thru my actions, which I fall way short of everyday. I feel that's the best I know to do from what experience I had. After listening to this message on here I just need to know for sure it was God! It was a voice with alot of authoritative power from the best way I can explain it. If anyone has any information on this please let me know. Thanks and God bless each and everyone of you.
I heard Gods voice. 13 years ago he spoke to me. I heard him whisper in my ear. There was a blood test my wife took that gave us results that were really bad. A few days after fasting and praying he told me “the blood test is wrong”. A few weeks later we found out the test was in fact wrong. There’s nothing anyone can say to make me believe that wasn’t Gods voice I heard. I heard it clear as a bell, like he was sitting right next to me.

I love Dr. Barnett. I just have an alternative view about knowing God's voice. If you are praying without ceasing and including Him in your decisions then I happen to think you can hear from God. I think the thing we call a conscience can also be called God. That's a voice that's higher than our base, primate-like ego. And the more you listen for Him, the more He speaks to you. And it also helps if you're out of the world. If you're of the world then you might not be able to hear Him. He may not speak to the worldly like he does the unworldly but he speaks. I have to say as an aside that it's hypocritical to believe God spoke to those in the Bible but not to people out of the Bible and in the world today. Im not sure but I dont think my Bible says at the end, "And so God left the people His Word, His Spirit, & His Son to follow and will be silent until the 2nd coming of Christ. And, what is the spirit here for exactly than (among other things) to be our guide? God speaks. We just have to have spiritual ears for discernment. Amen.
I have an older brother, which I dearly love and respect, but I have a very hard time with him and his wife, because they always claim that God are speaking to them, they have visions all the time, and they live their lives after it, even some of their visions never came true. I love Christ, and I pray for my brother and his wife, that they will get a wake-up call, so the truth can set them free. I can''t face them with the problem, because they are the ones teachting me, at any given time, so that would create a very bad situation. I am very sure that God can speak to people even today, but He gave us Jesus, and after that The Holy Spirit, to guide us through our lives, so God speaking all the time, I dont buy that.....
People like that generally try supersede the Bible, and that's the first clue that what they are saying is not of God. I've also seen them use it for control.
Maybe he has not spoken to you because you don't believe he will? Don't make the mistake of thinking you are not important enough for him to give you his undevided attention. If you speak to him with an open heart he will respond to you.
When my dad passed away from lung cancer 3 years ago, I asked God why he took him. I heard a voice say you prayed he would not have cancer and pain anymore, now he does not have it. I would assume that since I was praying to God, he was the one that answered. Am I wrong on this or could it have been the voice from an angel speaking for Him?
That didn’t really answer the question. More on a day to day basis... do I take this job or this job, should I start a ministry, should I start a business, should I start looking for a new job, do I marry this guy...those kinds of directions aren’t in the Bible. I understand that when weighing the situation if any part of it contradicts the Bible it’s a clear no, but how do you know in general situations that you are making the best decision and are in Gods will or if you are pushing your own agenda and calling it Gods will.
God's Spirit and leading "voice" always results in fruits of peaceable righteousness that is like a well springing up from our bellies to bring us healing & then overflows into the life's of others that are parched and in need of love and the gospel of Christ Jesus our Lord. Doing exactly what our Lord did while He was on this earth. I believe these lines can get blurred real easy, people saying God told me, or God said, both by well meaning true born again Christians that maybe go a little overboard sometimes and need to learn to stay humble and correctable as well as false brethren that do lie. I think I know why we want to hear directly from God We want to go back to the garden of Eden. We want to walk and talk with God.Nothing between us. One day heaven will open in front of us. It will be like that again. Because of Jesus Christ
Yes, He does. But He doesn't stop there. He also instructs us which way to go and what to do in a specific situation. As Psalm 32: 8 says: "I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you." Not always. But sometimes. This is a big topic and there are millions of interesting testimonies of how God leads His people nowadays. A friend of mine got the distinct inclination to buy extra food. No big deal you think. But he's from a poor country and was literally spending his last money on tomatoes. Then an unexpected visitor arrived late and he had something to put in front of him. Just day before yesterday I was looking to hire a help for the household. Of the two persons I invited, I liked one much better than the other one. But all of a sudden I sensed a warning in my spirit not to trust her. Stupid me just heading half of that warning. But than something small happened which showed trouble might be on the way. Had God not warned me, I would have ignored that. But He did warn me, and with that warning still in my head, I decided to follow up on it this time.

How many times has a Christian come to me and said “The Lord said to tell you.....” or “The Lord showed me this and that about you”. It’s all been judgmental, confusing and downright hurtful at times. Personally, the only time I know the Holy Spirit is whispering in my ear, is when He points me to a certain passage in scripture.
I think that I would want to get my head checked if I heard any voice in my head. There are so many technologies such as voice to skull. God is eternal and he gives us his word in the Bible.
I had my named called when I was younger. Many supernatural experiences and decades later, recently and its ironic he says in the hallway. There was a brilliant light in my hallway outside my bedroom. My wife and I were going to watch tv but the crazy cat was in the hall bathroom. I go to walk into the hall and i stop. There's a glowing light that is pulsating. I froze. Later I laughed and said what would have happened if I ran I to it!? Two days later I prayed in my mind for a sign its him because I'm getting conflicting messages lately. Some from Satan. Her phones screen lit in the darkness next to our bed like a message came in but there was nothing on it. There's God talking. Like I said the messages I'm getting...no one believed them. Not Christians. You know Christians are more apt to not believe. I take comfort knowing only 8 people got on the ark and the disciples didn't understand what Jesus was saying a lot of the time.
So when the Bible says you will dream dreams and see visions (paraphrased) it doesn't mean that. Of course their is continued revelation and yes it will come to pass exactly and it will never contradict Scripture...
This draws the lines of theology across the word of God, and comes to conclusions about hearing God's voice that refute the Bible itself, even the words of Jesus. Yes, people do mistake their own thoughts for Gods voice, but since when do we gain a better understanding by just ignoring, getting rid of, and even condemning what Jesus said? Of course, we need to test the spirits to see if they are of God, and of course, we compare the leading of any spirit to the Bible to see for sure whether this is the guidance of the Holy Spirit. But Jesus said the Spirit would be sent to "guide" us "into all truth"; no way should the spiritual guidance of God be be dismissed as false, much less equated with "Christian divination". It is a scriptural teaching. We honor the word of God and "tremble at His word" by believing it and seeking that guidance by God into an understanding of it, not by relegating a portion to untruth. When we read what Jesus said about _hearing His voice_ in John 5 and John 10, then in Revelation 3, in context He obviously means the guidance of the Holy Spirit. In John 5:25, He speaks of hearing the "voice of the Son of God" in parallel with hearing "His word" in 5:24, as how people come to faith in Jesus and pass from death to life. He makes it obvious that there is a close relationship between hearing His word and Hearing His spiritual voice.. In John 10, Jesus is talking about His sheep hearing His voice; clearly He says that we hear His voice and _know_ Him. Honestly, the personal, trusting nature of ths relationship seems to be what theology is trying to rid us of, but that isn't scriptural at all! In Revelation 3, Jesus says "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come in and sup with him, and He with me". Once more, Jesus is offering a close _experience_ of God, as the means of fixing what He finds wrong with the churches. It is what He offers to enable us to overcome. Far from thinking a personal experience of God is a dangerous, false expectation, Jesus is the One who told us to expect that. And this is far from the false charismatic movement's so-called manifestations, which are not of God; we know they aren't, because they fail the test of agreeing with scripture. By the way, why would I let John Piper tell me that the written word is "more" than the actual Holy Spirit, Himself? The gift of having the written word may be more of a blessing than the gift of the Holy Spirit _as our guide_ into all truth, but why would I even come to that conclusion? The Holy Spirit, and the word He inspired, _work together_ , validating each other, as they obviously are meant to. But even making them equal as blessings would never justify making the gift of the Holy Spirit's guidance "small". You may scoff, but millions of people have been led into faith in Jesus by the drawing of the Holy Spirit, not by the reasoning of theologians. And it is that reality of God in our lives that sustains our faith, and that's true, when we have a sense of God's presence and when we do not. It is not at all Biblically orthodox to say that we have no experience of God, or that no one, or even "few" people, ever hear the voice of the Son of God, when it is that very experience of spiritually "hearing His voice" that Jesus says is how we come to believe on Him and be saved, and which is the common experience of His sheep! In addition to the verses in John 5 and 10, and Revelation 3, there is the very well-known, "today, if you hear His voice, harden not your heart...", and there are other verses about God revealing Himself to believers: to Simon Bar Jonah/Peter; to the babes. Piper and Washer make spurious argunents in which they set up non sequiturs and drive them hard as the only way to look at it, but those conclusions are not the views that believers agreed on so many centuries, outside of, and in spite of Rome. It is ironic that you ask us to believe Piper's statement, when it is Piper who would have us listen to Mike Bickel and Rick Warren, two whom I'd never listen to. Bickel's teaching of the Holy Spirit is not the orthodox, Biblical belief, but neither is Piper's. This false dichotomy that makes the truth, _either_ what the charismatics teach, _or_ what the Strange Fire conference taught, Gods truth, is deceiving because _neither_ agrees with or respects the word of God. This is sad, but this equal and opposite deception about the Holy Spirit continues. Nevertheless, Jesus's _sheep_ still _hear His voice_ , and the _dead_ still _hear the voice of the Son of God_ , and them that hear _shall live_ . When Jesus said that He stands at the door and knocks (obviously at the _doors of believer's hearts_ --of our inmost being), notice that He changed the metaphor in midstream, from hearing knocking to hearing His voice. That shows, all by itself, that Jesus was not talking about any kind of new, verbal revelation that replaces the written word of God. But the way the Holy Spirit validates the word of God He inspired, and vice versa, are safeguards against error; they don't lead us into error. According to Jesus in John 10, it is because we _know_ the voice of the Good Shepherd who gives His life for the sheep, that we do not believe or follow "another". There is a writing online which explains the nature of hearing Jesus's voice and the difference of that from hearing a false manifestation. This writing, let me look up and post, but it is by John Owen, who was even a Calvinist, but understood the biblical teaching of the guidance of the Holy Spirit. I believe that he spoke of the guidance of the Holy Spirit as "illumination" of the text, not as the kind of revelation that supplants the Bible. But this shows that Calvinists of the past did not deny t he work of the Holy Spirit in guiding us. Jesus said He would be sent to us to guide us, and also that we not be left alone. That experiential nature of knowing Him is apparebtly important, to hear Jesus tell it, and He is still authoritative in what the experience of believing Christians is and should be. I meant to add that it is not a matter of "demanding a sign" when the Holy Spirit is sent to guide us, and be with us as the Comforter and guide. The problem is not that the Holy Spirit in the person of His word is not enough; it is that this movement is trying to wean us off dependence on the Spirit and word of God, to scripture that is understood by human reasoning and the rules of logic alone, with no work of God at all.
David had said I take no counsel from man nor even princes! There is such a split in the understanding or even excepting of The Holy Spirit! Jesus said He would send a Helper to us The Holy Spirit! I think this question has been answered vaguely. You have not answered situations where you must make a decision which cannot be answered from the scriptures eg. Do I move into House A or House B? Do I take that job in one city vs another? I think these questions are what should be answered... Please advise
So Interactive bible says whatever you do, do as unto the lord. So doesn’t matter what job you take as much as how you do it in light of his word. Live by what God commands in Bible, and god’s providence will do the rest. Sovereign god did his will even through pharoah , donkey and people who crucified jesus. Choose house based on all the wisdom god gave you and with prayers. Solomon asked fr wisdom to discern and judge. Just ask an expert to pick your real estate. That wisdom also comes from god. When non believers can build massive businesses though hardwork and shrewdness, then how much more can we do with god’s providence and grace.
I keep hearing people say to test with the Word. But I have no idea how to do that. What does that mean, exactly? So how do you test an “answer” to a question such as where do I need to move to?
If you want to hear God's voice read His Word. If you want to hear God speak out loud well...just read His Word out loud! God has spoken through His Son ("The Word of God") and that is it! we murdered Him...that was THE End of God "speaking" to ANYONE! Thankfully His "Voice" resonates through time and space...
It looks to me in this video he is simply stating the obvious: that what God says to us must agree with the Bible. But he doesn´t get into how to know God´s voice for us in our personal life circumstances, like how to know if that girl in church is right for me, should I make that business investment or not, what should I study in college. The Bible does provide the principles, but won´t tell us which choice to make.
I totally agree with this speaker that we should test everything against the Word of God, but therein is the rub. Which version of God’s Word? Suppose someone says Jesus was not the Son of God, but only God’s servant; ok, let’s test that against the Word. The modern versions at Acts 3:13 say Jesus was a mere servant while the KJB says Jesus is the Son of God. Very few pastors today are 100% sure of what in fact is the Word of God!
I believe God can still speak through dreams and can give people enlightment. In my church my pastor had a dream and he was listening to the worship and there was a snake on the stage with the other singers. The snake on the stage symbolized a women who was a part of worship but not living to the standard of God. My pastor confronted the women he believed it to be and it turns out she was backsliding and falling off. She admitted this to him. They took her off the worship team until she got herself together in Gods standard. God will reveal truth to his people when he needs to.
It is not a voice. It is an intuitive mental "impression" that is reinforced by corroborating real experience. The more profound experience is accompanied by a feeling as if warm water is poured into you. There is often a mist or smoke. There is a nice smell like flowers. These are not sensory but directly though the mind.
James Richard Wiley There is no Biblical reference to our brain just making it seem like it's His Voice. If God can speak to Moses in person, He wont treat us any more distant. They simply "emerge" spontaneously with no precedent indication. I am typically more creatively productive when all thought stops. I am capable of maintaining this thought free state for hours without inner dialogue. It is often I do this. The amount of attention that can focused on the "now" moment increases significantly, as does observational input. Then the predictable effect occurs according to Natural Law or Divine Law. Things occur for specific reasons that are apart from logic because the cause and effect chains take much awareness to notice. The timing for things to be placed such that is more akin to a wave were actions are taken that are not logical until the whole lesson is fully manifest. It is a virtual interactive learning "simulation" that is specifically tailored to ☆"our" personal needs. ("Needs" are different from "wants" as those may be aspects of the flesh body: instinct, thoughts or emotion rather than the conscious spirit within. ☆The pronoun "our" does not help convey the proper meaning.

God doesnt speak to people...the bible is gods voice. The angels speak to the people so people saying they hear god need to read their bible..cuz the voice they hear is their own spirit (thoughts) the bible says out of the heart (mind) proceeds evil thoughts, the heart (mind) is decitful above all thing who can know it?...if you arent for the chosen your have not been given these secrets amd if u have you turn away for the truth to follow after your own hear (mind) meaning your dont follow what the book says u follow what you thing is correct but there is a way that looks right unto an man but the end is still destruction.
Is it just me,... or did anyone else notice a short 'hissing' of 'ssss' at 11:51? Right where he reads a scripture - the word "beware...ssss" and you can still see his lips moving before He says the name, Jesus. As though he did say another word but could not hear it. I'm not trying to get all paranormal on you or anything - I just noticed it and was wondering if anyone else did. I believe it was an audio recording malfunction myself. lol.
These kinds of teachers--ones like McArthur, Piper, Washer, etc, but _not_ like John Owen, by the way--always assert that there is _no experience of the Holy Spirit_ . McArthur said he has no faculty for recognizing the Holy Spirit. But Jesus said that His sheep hear His voice, know Him, and another we will not follow, _because_ we know His voice, but know not the voice of a stranger. That is opposite the assertions of "Strange Fire", etc, because they say that false manifestations and misguidance by other spirits are the fault of having _an expectation_ of a direct experience of God, which they relegate to those false experiences, but do not acknowledge that experiences of God are taught by the Bible. McArthur and others have said that God guides us through providence alone. That would be only recognized after the fact, so there is no way that any of our decision-making about what to believe or what to do, could be guided by providence. McArthur says that the way we know we have been guided by providence is that we look back and say "God was guiding me there". But not only does that not allow any choices based on guidance, but it eliminates the opportunity and responsibility of testing the spirits to see if they are of God. So the part of the Christian experience which requires testing the spirits is sidestepped, and the whole of experience is deemed undesirable, when clearly this is not what the Bible means. (When I think about what McArthur said, I always think of those bed races, where brass beds on wheels are pushed from the back, the fronts going wildly out of control! I always think, They should have someone _guiding_ them _in front_ .) No opportunity nor need for testing the spirits shows that the guidance of the Holy Spirit does not mean guidance by providence alone. We are guided in such a way that discerning is necessary. I went to a really horrible word faith church, back in the late 70s. The pastor of the church started teaching us to say (as a _positive confession_ ), "All my thoughts are the oracles of God". I wasn't about to say that, because that just is not true! It works contrary to the need to discern our own thoughts from the thoughts of God. But McArthur's guidance by providence, alone, is very similar to that. Instead of saying, in present tense, 'all my thoughts are the thoughts ("oracles") of God,' you basically do the same thing in past tense, attributing to God everything that brought you to where you are today. And God would have to have been "in" every decision that you've made, to have brought you to a place where you'd safely assume that it was God who was working in, not only what happened to you, but what you did with what happened to you. It basically adds up to the same thing: 'all my decisions _were_ the oracles of God'.
Well if you remember, Gideon was in that fix. So he did a double blind test with God. His reasoning was. it is better to have an angry God than cause the death of many by leading them to slaughter. God understood and forgave him and sent the dew where it was suppose to go according to Gideon. He became a great General. The other way , is if we do not keep those words we forget them and then we have to ask God to receive them again. We forget them so that we do not come under full condemnation which could result in our destruction. Another way is to go into REPENTANCE, Satan really hates it when we repent. Then if you hear those words while in the midst of Repentance it is pretty good authority it did not come from Satan. And Lastly there is a burning bosom. Remember they killed the prophets who were tasked to deliver new things. They would not hear.
God certainly spoke to Paul through a dream telling him to go to Macedonia. Are you saying that God cannot lead people and tell them where he wants them to go? How would anyone ever know what God wants them to do if he does not speak in someway? It does not say in my Bible who I should marry, where I should go to college or where the Lord wants me to minister. Those are things that he can impress upon our hearts and lead us using his word, circumstances and other believers, etc. Basically, you’re saying that we should just walk blindly through life and not consult God in anything we do because God does not speak.

Bible clearly says whatever you do, do as if you are doing for the lord. Forget college, fear of lord is beginning of wisdom. If you are not capable of choosing a mate by diligent study of his Word and faith in prayers of elders and christians, then you are not ready to marry. Book of Esther mentions God nowhere, yet God accomplished his will. Joseph nvr heard any direction from god but became prime minister of egypt, ruth never heard from god but married and became grandmother of king david. DO WHAT BIBLE TELLS YOU TO ABIDE BY, GOD WHO IS SOVEREIGN WILL DO HIS WILL IN YOUR LIFE. God cares more about what kind of spouse you are or how you do your job living by the word. David was a shepherd when god appointed him as king. Just live as christ where you are. God’s providence will work with or without you anyway. God is not going to tell you whom to marry. You could be a mason and be doing the highest will of god when you live by his Word. Every Christian is a missionary wherever he is. Nooo one is so spl that they outgrow the Word and wait for direct instructions from God. Paul was an apostle, whom God validated through miracles and wonders. If you hear things it is either flesh or imagination or devil. Btw god never ever promised to speak directly and nvr promised he will choose ur spouse. Lets leave hollywood out of the Bible.
You are very judgemental. I have heard Gods voice. As a matter of fact. You more or less literally feel Gods voice not neccessarily "hear". Wheather or not someone has studied the subject of hearing Gods voice holds no barring on wheather or not they actually heard the Lords voice. That all said the answer to this question is simple. When God speaks to you, you WILL know. If you are unsure. It was not God. God makes himself known without question as long as you have the faith. With the proper amount of faith you CAN literly move mountains.

He can present himself in angelic form and persuade many people from weak to strong faith depending on if the understand the aspect of hearing God. You can hear Gods literal voice, or you can feel his presence or motives pushing you along. Any contradiction to that, you better read your Bible. I love you, and God bless you my friend. Also, I have spoken with a couple of people who were fully convinced that God spoke to them, but yet what they claim God told them contradicted the Bible, and even after I pointed that fact out to them they got upset and said they don't care what the Bible says because they know what they heard was God. Well I simply told them that I believe the Bible over them, and that is when they walked away haven't talked to them since.

How do u have the authority to say that God only talks to a few? U don't know that? I like listening to a lot of yr sermons but many times I've heard u say things that I feel yr crossing the line to be able to do. U are to deliver God's word. Ur not authorized to decide who, how many, and If God talks to. That's Gods Job. Not yrs.
Maybe a couple of years it was. I was in bed and really feeling I was alone, that I was feeling the lack of Gods presence. I was just breaking my heart and praying for Him not to leave me. Then I "heard" a voice, but it wasn't audible as such but an audible thought? I can't even explain it. It was so gentle and told me "You are My daughter and I will never forsake you". I cant begin to say how I felt after but knew God had spoken to me. A few short words but said everything
I woke up one day from a loud voice that said to me "Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness". It was after much prayer asking for direction. Amazing!

As a young man I happen to be walking with buddies on a nice hike. Then suddenly I heard a loud inner voice, like it resonates in your soul. My name was called STEPHEN! I turned around looking back?? I had no idea, but today I know that was Jesus calling me. This happened multiple times Until I became born again and baptized receiving Christ as my Lord and savior. Indeed the Lord calls us because we have been chosen beforr the foundation of the world.
I don’t understand how someone (some who comments) that calls themselves Christian can be ugly and rude to others who don’t agree with his teaching. Let’s pray for a better response to others and see others how Christ can see them. Let’s all pray that these people can come to truth and allows themselves to instead call others untruthful to seek God’s truth and word themselves.

This presupposes that the teacher is correct, “truth” is the scripture not someone who tells us what the scripture means, 1 john 2 says we don’t need a teacher to tell us what the scripture means the Holy Spirit” teaches us
God speaks to a man's conscience.
Limiting God is dangerous. God is unique and so are we. God speaks to me in my conscience. I dont hear it in my ears but in my spirit/soul. I always pray for me to know if that is his will and ask for biblical backup. We are to take every thought captive. God in his word gives us general guidelines but he wants to be involved in every little detail in our lives. When we seek to do Gods will he will gently nudge us in making the right choice. When going the wrong direction the alarm (Holy Spirit) starts to sound. Usually it's what we call "anxiety". God communicates with us if we are willing to listen. Although what we hear must never contradict scripture he does take a much more active role than just scripture. Also I would be wary of someone telling me that God doesnt talk to us when they dont believe that signs and wonders dont exist anymore and were only for the 1st century church. Jesus told us the signs that would follow those that are believers. ALL BELIEVERS not just 1st century believers. God bless you all.

Well for starters when we pray we aren’t “hearing” Gods voice. Prayer is about voicing OUR concerns to God. If you want to hear God’s voice then read your Bible. That’s the word of God speaking to us.

Will Woodfall I understand your point I am struggling to get the point across to so many who tell me this verse and that verse but when I say to them God told me this and God told me that they quote another verse and they don’t get that I have the gifts I hear the voice of god I speak in tongues the day I was on my knees repenting I felt the love of God and I translate tongues too the things I know that they tell me I’m wrong but the truth is they put the book before Gods words and they don’t like it that I say to them that God himself told me the bible was first corrupted in the year 376 ad and but yet they cling to the modern day bible more than they believe in the lord it’s truly hard to take but then I always remember the words of Jesus say many will come to the narrow straight gate but I tell you very few will get thru the first lessen I was told by the soft spoken voice was the narrow path but yet so many believe it’s not the way they believe the 10 commandments don’t stand anyway enjoy your evening and God bless brethren love you in the name of Jesus of Nazareth amen

I never heard Gods audible voice, but God does not work in the same way with everyone of His children. I do believe that you heard Gods voice too, maybe you needed to hear Him audibly at that time in your life! Remember, God supplies all our needs, so He gave you what you needed at that time!
It was if u felt Him. He's talked to me to. I was very close to God bc He was all I had since birth. He would talk to me by giving answers that I didn't have. And in the middle of breaking down. Yr brain doesn't process logical thought when yr breaking down emotionally in that moment.

I decided instead of quietly praying in that stuffy kind of impersonal way that I would speak to the Lord as if he was standing next to me. It was trully amazing, like talking to my dad. Openly asking questions and often getting the answers before I had even finished the questions, laughing and trully having a good time. I know this is not my mind bc the lord tells me what I need to hear not what I want to hear. Never has he cursed, said anything negative and if it's my subconscious..why would I ask myself things I already know?
Everything taught here aligns with scripture as far as I’ve studied it. I like how John MacArthur articulates it: when the Holy Spirit works, we don’t feel it, but rather we see the fruit of it later.
When the Lord is speaking, He is speaking through His Word. When we pray, our hearts and minds are put in front of God and we are submitting them to His control. Between studying the Word and praying believers ought to be able to look back at their past circumstances and see the work of the Holy Spirit, and in faith know that God is working out all the present circumstances of their lives for His good and the good of those who love Him. What more do we need to hear?
I’ll share a story with everyone, the Lord has always been there for me throughout my life, he has saved me from many a bad situation, and so I was driving one day and I was about to make a left hand turn a route I drove daily and I was coming up to the turn and all of a sudden I like heard this don’t turn in my head and all of a sudden there was an 18 wheeler passing me, I didn’t see this semi at all, If I hadn’t stop right when I heard that in my head it would have been instant death I’m sure because this road is a 55 mph.
God sends you a mental impression so that you know that it is Him if you are saved you understand this

I belive it was back in July of 2007 I had been laying on the couch talking to my son who was sitting in his chair. Next thing I hear is a voice calling my name. First time is was very suttle, the second time a little bit firmer, and the third time it was very strong and deep. I sat streight up on the couch. I looked over where my son had been sitting and the light beside his chair was still on but he was gone. I looked around the room and didn't see anyone so I crept thru the house and everyone had gone to bed and it had already gotten late at night but it was so real that I had to check the whole house out to make sure no one was in the house it that wasn't supposed to be and I saw no one. Kind of baffled I went and laid back down on the couch and went to sleep. When I heard this voice it was like I wasn't asleep but I wasn't awake either, if that makes sense. The next morning it was heavy on my mind and I told my son and another man that had came over about the experience I had had and said to them that I thought God had spoke to me and then i corrected myself and said no, I know God spoke to me. About 5 years later I was around a friend of mine who was and still is a preacher and I had remembered him telling me that God had spoke to him and this had been on my mind quite often ever sense I had experienced what had happened to me but I never had asked him what God said to him. So I wanted to asked him what God said to him and told him I belive that God had spoke to me but before I told him what I thought God had said to me, could he please tell me what he had said to him years prior and he told me God had call his name three times while he was driving down the road. I told him that I had experienced the same thing except I was kind of, best way I could put it, in between sleep and awake and that really wasn't the way I felt but it's the only way I new to explain it. I asked him what he did and he said he pulled of the road and started to pray for God to show him or let him know what He wanted from him. I didn't know to do this at the time but I still pray for God to show me what He wanted when He called my name. One of the first things I thought of was when Jesus call Lazareth's name three times and he arose. I'm still not sure what God wanted from me but I do know He wants me to live for Him and be a witness thru my actions, which I fall way short of everyday. I feel that's the best I know to do from what experience I had. After listening to this message on here I just need to know for sure it was God! It was a voice with alot of authoritative power from the best way I can explain it. If anyone has any information on this please let me know. Thanks and God bless each and everyone of you.

I heard Gods voice. 13 years ago he spoke to me. I heard him whisper in my ear.
There was a blood test my wife took that gave us results that were really bad. A few days after fasting and praying he told me “the blood test is wrong”.
A few weeks later we found out the test was in fact wrong.
There’s nothing anyone can say to make me believe that wasn’t Gods voice I heard. I heard it clear as a bell, like he was sitting right next to me.
The voice of God is the holy spirit

I love Dr. Barnett. I just have an alternative view about knowing God's voice. If you are praying without ceasing and including Him in your decisions then I happen to think you can hear from God. I think the thing we call a conscience can also be called God. That's a voice that's higher than our base, primate-like ego. And the more you listen for Him, the more He speaks to you. And it also helps if you're out of the world. If you're of the world then you might not be able to hear Him. He may not speak to the worldly like he does the unworldly but he speaks.
I have to say as an aside that it's hypocritical to believe God spoke to those in the Bible but not to people out of the Bible and in the world today. Im not sure but I dont think my Bible says at the end, "And so God left the people His Word, His Spirit, & His Son to follow and will be silent until the 2nd coming of Christ. And, what is the spirit here for exactly than (among other things) to be our guide?

I have an older brother, which I dearly love and respect, but I have a very hard time with him and his wife, because they always claim that God are speaking to them, they have visions all the time, and they live their lives after it, even some of their visions never came true. I love Christ, and I pray for my brother and his wife, that they will get a wake-up call, so the truth can set them free. I can''t face them with the problem, because they are the ones teachting me, at any given time, so that would create a very bad situation. I am very sure that God can speak to people even today, but He gave us Jesus, and after that The Holy Spirit, to guide us through our lives, so God speaking all the time, I dont buy that.....
People like that generally try supersede the Bible, and that's the first clue that what they are saying is not of God. I've also seen them use it for control.
I am sorry you dont hear Him. I do and many others and it is often confirmed.
Maybe he has not spoken to you because you don't believe he will? Don't make the mistake of thinking you are not important enough for him to give you his undevided attention. If you speak to him with an open heart he will respond to you.
When my dad passed away from lung cancer 3 years ago, I asked God why he took him. I heard a voice say you prayed he would not have cancer and pain anymore, now he does not have it. I would assume that since I was praying to God, he was the one that answered. Am I wrong on this or could it have been the voice from an angel speaking for Him?
This. Many of us get caught up in subjective feelings then when something doesn't happen, we wonder what went wrong.
That didn’t really answer the question. More on a day to day basis... do I take this job or this job, should I start a ministry, should I start a business, should I start looking for a new job, do I marry this guy...those kinds of directions aren’t in the Bible. I understand that when weighing the situation if any part of it contradicts the Bible it’s a clear no, but how do you know in general situations that you are making the best decision and are in Gods will or if you are pushing your own agenda and calling it Gods will.
I have found that when I ask a question He actually confirms when the answer is in the affirmative.
God's Spirit and leading "voice" always results in fruits of peaceable righteousness that is like a well springing up from our bellies to bring us healing & then overflows into the life's of others that are parched and in need of love and the gospel of Christ Jesus our Lord.
Doing exactly what our Lord did while He was on this earth.
I believe these lines can get blurred real easy, people saying God told me, or God said, both by well meaning true born again Christians that maybe go a little overboard sometimes and need to learn to stay humble and correctable as well as false brethren that do lie.
The Lord will lead His children hence, My sheep KNOW my "voice"and they FOLLOW Me and the voice of a stranger they will not follow.
So when we stay continually filled with His Spirit and connected to the vine we WILL produce fruit and HE DOES go before us and make our way straight as well as having a River of perfect peace and joy UNSPEAKABLE! and might I add unshakable!

Yes, He does. But He doesn't stop there. He also instructs us which way to go and what to do in a specific situation. As Psalm 32: 8 says: "I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you."
Not always. But sometimes. This is a big topic and there are millions of interesting testimonies of how God leads His people nowadays. A friend of mine got the distinct inclination to buy extra food. No big deal you think. But he's from a poor country and was literally spending his last money on tomatoes. Then an unexpected visitor arrived late and he had something to put in front of him.
Just day before yesterday I was looking to hire a help for the household. Of the two persons I invited, I liked one much better than the other one. But all of a sudden I sensed a warning in my spirit not to trust her. Stupid me just heading half of that warning. But than something small happened which showed trouble might be on the way. Had God not warned me, I would have ignored that. But He did warn me, and with that warning still in my head, I decided to follow up on it this time.

How many times has a Christian come to me and said “The Lord said to tell you.....” or “The Lord showed me this and that about you”. It’s all been judgmental, confusing and downright hurtful at times. Personally, the only time I know the Holy Spirit is whispering in my ear, is when He points me to a certain passage in scripture.
I think that I would want to get my head checked if I heard any voice in my head. There are so many technologies such as voice to skull. God is eternal and he gives us his word in the Bible.
I had my named called when I was younger. Many supernatural experiences and decades later, recently and its ironic he says in the hallway. There was a brilliant light in my hallway outside my bedroom. My wife and I were going to watch tv but the crazy cat was in the hall bathroom. I go to walk into the hall and i stop. There's a glowing light that is pulsating. I froze. Later I laughed and said what would have happened if I ran I to it!? Two days later I prayed in my mind for a sign its him because I'm getting conflicting messages lately. Some from Satan. Her phones screen lit in the darkness next to our bed like a message came in but there was nothing on it. There's God talking. Like I said the messages I'm getting...no one believed them. Not Christians. You know Christians are more apt to not believe. I take comfort knowing only 8 people got on the ark and the disciples didn't understand what Jesus was saying a lot of the time.
So when the Bible says you will dream dreams and see visions (paraphrased) it doesn't mean that. Of course their is continued revelation and yes it will come to pass exactly and it will never contradict Scripture...

This draws the lines of theology across the word of God, and comes to conclusions about hearing God's voice that refute the Bible itself, even the words of Jesus. Yes, people do mistake their own thoughts for Gods voice, but since when do we gain a better understanding by just ignoring, getting rid of, and even condemning what Jesus said? Of course, we need to test the spirits to see if they are of God, and of course, we compare the leading of any spirit to the Bible to see for sure whether this is the guidance of the Holy Spirit. But Jesus said the Spirit would be sent to "guide" us "into all truth"; no way should the spiritual guidance of God be be dismissed as false, much less equated with "Christian divination". It is a scriptural teaching. We honor the word of God and "tremble at His word" by believing it and seeking that guidance by God into an understanding of it, not by relegating a portion to untruth.
When we read what Jesus said about _hearing His voice_ in John 5 and John 10, then in Revelation 3, in context He obviously means the guidance of the Holy Spirit. In John 5:25, He speaks of hearing the "voice of the Son of God" in parallel with hearing "His word" in 5:24, as how people come to faith in Jesus and pass from death to life. He makes it obvious that there is a close relationship between hearing His word and Hearing His spiritual voice.. In John 10, Jesus is talking about His sheep hearing His voice; clearly He says that we hear His voice and _know_ Him. Honestly, the personal, trusting nature of ths relationship seems to be what theology is trying to rid us of, but that isn't scriptural at all! In Revelation 3, Jesus says "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come in and sup with him, and He with me". Once more, Jesus is offering a close _experience_ of God, as the means of fixing what He finds wrong with the churches. It is what He offers to enable us to overcome. Far from thinking a personal experience of God is a dangerous, false expectation, Jesus is the One who told us to expect that. And this is far from the false charismatic movement's so-called manifestations, which are not of God; we know they aren't, because they fail the test of agreeing with scripture. By the way, why would I let John Piper tell me that the written word is "more" than the actual Holy Spirit, Himself? The gift of having the written word may be more of a blessing than the gift of the Holy Spirit _as our guide_ into all truth, but why would I even come to that conclusion? The Holy Spirit, and the word He inspired, _work together_ , validating each other, as they obviously are meant to. But even making them equal as blessings would never justify making the gift of the Holy Spirit's guidance "small". You may scoff, but millions of people have been led into faith in Jesus by the drawing of the Holy Spirit, not by the reasoning of theologians. And it is that reality of God in our lives that sustains our faith, and that's true, when we have a sense of God's presence and when we do not. It is not at all Biblically orthodox to say that we have no experience of God, or that no one, or even "few" people, ever hear the voice of the Son of God, when it is that very experience of spiritually "hearing His voice" that Jesus says is how we come to believe on Him and be saved, and which is the common experience of His sheep! In addition to the verses in John 5 and 10, and Revelation 3, there is the very well-known, "today, if you hear His voice, harden not your heart...", and there are other verses about God revealing Himself to believers: to Simon Bar Jonah/Peter; to the babes. Piper and Washer make spurious argunents in which they set up non sequiturs and drive them hard as the only way to look at it, but those conclusions are not the views that believers agreed on so many centuries, outside of, and in spite of Rome. It is ironic that you ask us to believe Piper's statement, when it is Piper who would have us listen to Mike Bickel and Rick Warren, two whom I'd never listen to. Bickel's teaching of the Holy Spirit is not the orthodox, Biblical belief, but neither is Piper's.
This false dichotomy that makes the truth, _either_ what the charismatics teach, _or_ what the Strange Fire conference taught, Gods truth, is deceiving because _neither_ agrees with or respects the word of God. This is sad, but this equal and opposite deception about the Holy Spirit continues. Nevertheless, Jesus's _sheep_ still _hear His voice_ , and the _dead_ still _hear the voice of the Son of God_ , and them that hear _shall live_ . When Jesus said that He stands at the door and knocks (obviously at the _doors of believer's hearts_ --of our inmost being), notice that He changed the metaphor in midstream, from hearing knocking to hearing His voice. That shows, all by itself, that Jesus was not talking about any kind of new, verbal revelation that replaces the written word of God. But the way the Holy Spirit validates the word of God He inspired, and vice versa, are safeguards against error; they don't lead us into error. According to Jesus in John 10, it is because we _know_ the voice of the Good Shepherd who gives His life for the sheep, that we do not believe or follow "another".
There is a writing online which explains the nature of hearing Jesus's voice and the difference of that from hearing a false manifestation. This writing, let me look up and post, but it is by John Owen, who was even a Calvinist, but understood the biblical teaching of the guidance of the Holy Spirit. I believe that he spoke of the guidance of the Holy Spirit as "illumination" of the text, not as the kind of revelation that supplants the Bible. But this shows that Calvinists of the past did not deny t he work of the Holy Spirit in guiding us. Jesus said He would be sent to us to guide us, and also that we not be left alone. That experiential nature of knowing Him is apparebtly important, to hear Jesus tell it, and He is still authoritative in what the experience of believing Christians is and should be.
I meant to add that it is not a matter of "demanding a sign" when the Holy Spirit is sent to guide us, and be with us as the Comforter and guide. The problem is not that the Holy Spirit in the person of His word is not enough; it is that this movement is trying to wean us off dependence on the Spirit and word of God, to scripture that is understood by human reasoning and the rules of logic alone, with no work of God at all.
David had said I take no counsel from man nor even princes! There is such a split in the understanding or even excepting of The Holy Spirit! Jesus said He would send a Helper to us The Holy Spirit! We have a Personal relationship with Our Father God through Jesus Christ, and understanding through the same Holy Spirit that raised King Jesus on the third day! I think this question has been answered vaguely. You have not answered situations where you must make a decision which cannot be answered from the scriptures eg. Do I move into House A or House B? Do I take that job in one city vs another? I think these questions are what should be answered... Please advise
So Interactive bible says whatever you do, do as unto the lord. So doesn’t matter what job you take as much as how you do it in light of his word. Live by what God commands in Bible, and god’s providence will do the rest. Sovereign god did his will even through pharoah , donkey and people who crucified jesus. Choose house based on all the wisdom god gave you and with prayers. Solomon asked fr wisdom to discern and judge. Just ask an expert to pick your real estate. That wisdom also comes from god. When non believers can build massive businesses though hardwork and shrewdness, then how much more can we do with god’s providence and grace.

I keep hearing people say to test with the Word. But I have no idea how to do that. What does that mean, exactly? So how do you test an “answer” to a question such as where do I need to move to?

It looks to me in this video he is simply stating the obvious: that what God says to us must agree with the Bible. But he doesn´t get into how to know God´s voice for us in our personal life circumstances, like how to know if that girl in church is right for me, should I make that business investment or not, what should I study in college. The Bible does provide the principles, but won´t tell us which choice to make.

Suppose someone says Jesus was not the Son of God, but only God’s servant; ok, let’s test that against the Word.
The modern versions at Acts 3:13 say Jesus was a mere servant while the KJB says Jesus is the Son of God.

I believe God can still speak through dreams and can give people enlightment. In my church my pastor had a dream and he was listening to the worship and there was a snake on the stage with the other singers. The snake on the stage symbolized a women who was a part of worship but not living to the standard of God. My pastor confronted the women he believed it to be and it turns out she was backsliding and falling off. She admitted this to him. They took her off the worship team until she got herself together in Gods standard. God will reveal truth to his people when he needs to.

It is not a voice. It is an intuitive mental "impression" that is reinforced by corroborating real experience. The more profound experience is accompanied by a feeling as if warm water is poured into you. There is often a mist or smoke. There is a nice smell like flowers. These are not sensory but directly though the mind.

God doesnt speak to people...the bible is gods voice. Is it just me,... or did anyone else notice a short 'hissing' of 'ssss' at 11:51? Right where he reads a scripture - the word "beware...ssss" and you can still see his lips moving before He says the name, Jesus. As though he did say another word but could not hear it. I'm not trying to get all paranormal on you or anything - I just noticed it and was wondering if anyone else did. I believe it was an audio recording malfunction myself. lol.

These kinds of teachers--ones like McArthur, Piper, Washer, etc, but _not_ like John Owen, by the way--always assert that there is _no experience of the Holy Spirit_ . McArthur said he has no faculty for recognizing the Holy Spirit. But Jesus said that His sheep hear His voice, know Him, and another we will not follow, _because_ we know His voice, but know not the voice of a stranger. That is opposite the assertions of "Strange Fire", etc, because they say that false manifestations and misguidance by other spirits are the fault of having _an expectation_ of a direct experience of God, which they relegate to those false experiences, but do not acknowledge that experiences of God are taught by the Bible.
McArthur and others have said that God guides us through providence alone. That would be only recognized after the fact, so there is no way that any of our decision-making about what to believe or what to do, could be guided by providence. McArthur says that the way we know we have been guided by providence is that we look back and say "God was guiding me there". But not only does that not allow any choices based on guidance, but it eliminates the opportunity and responsibility of testing the spirits to see if they are of God. So the part of the Christian experience which requires testing the spirits is sidestepped, and the whole of experience is deemed undesirable, when clearly this is not what the Bible means. (When I think about what McArthur said, I always think of those bed races, where brass beds on wheels are pushed from the back, the fronts going wildly out of control! I always think, They should have someone _guiding_ them _in front_ .) No opportunity nor need for testing the spirits shows that the guidance of the Holy Spirit does not mean guidance by providence alone. We are guided in such a way that discerning is necessary.
I went to a really horrible word faith church, back in the late 70s. The pastor of the church started teaching us to say (as a _positive confession_ ), "All my thoughts are the oracles of God". I wasn't about to say that, because that just is not true! It works contrary to the need to discern our own thoughts from the thoughts of God.
But McArthur's guidance by providence, alone, is very similar to that. Instead of saying, in present tense, 'all my thoughts are the thoughts ("oracles") of God,' you basically do the same thing in past tense, attributing to God everything that brought you to where you are today. And God would have to have been "in" every decision that you've made, to have brought you to a place where you'd safely assume that it was God who was working in, not only what happened to you, but what you did with what happened to you. It basically adds up to the same thing: 'all my decisions _were_ the oracles of God'.

Well if you remember, Gideon was in that fix. So he did a double blind test with God. His reasoning was. it is better to have an angry God than cause the death of many by leading them to slaughter. God understood and forgave him and sent the dew where it was suppose to go according to Gideon. He became a great General. The other way , is if we do not keep those words we forget them and then we have to ask God to receive them again. We forget them so that we do not come under full condemnation which could result in our destruction. Another way is to go into REPENTANCE, Satan really hates it when we repent. Then if you hear those words while in the midst of Repentance it is pretty good authority it did not come from Satan. And Lastly there is a burning bosom. Remember they killed the prophets who were tasked to deliver new things. They would not hear.

God certainly spoke to Paul through a dream telling him to go to Macedonia. Are you saying that God cannot lead people and tell them where he wants them to go? How would anyone ever know what God wants them to do if he does not speak in someway? It does not say in my Bible who I should marry, where I should go to college or where the Lord wants me to minister. Those are things that he can impress upon our hearts and lead us using his word, circumstances and other believers, etc. Basically, you’re saying that we should just walk blindly through life and not consult God in anything we do because God does not speak.

Bible clearly says whatever you do, do as if you are doing for the lord. Forget college, fear of lord is beginning of wisdom. If you are not capable of choosing a mate by diligent study of his Word and faith in prayers of elders and christians, then you are not ready to marry. Book of Esther mentions God nowhere, yet God accomplished his will. Joseph nvr heard any direction from god but became prime minister of egypt, ruth never heard from god but married and became grandmother of king david. DO WHAT BIBLE TELLS YOU TO ABIDE BY, GOD WHO IS SOVEREIGN WILL DO HIS WILL IN YOUR LIFE. God cares more about what kind of spouse you are or how you do your job living by the word. David was a shepherd when god appointed him as king. Just live as christ where you are. God’s providence will work with or without you anyway. God is not going to tell you whom to marry. You could be a mason and be doing the highest will of god when you live by his Word. Every Christian is a missionary wherever he is. Nooo one is so spl that they outgrow the Word and wait for direct instructions from God. Paul was an apostle, whom God validated through miracles and wonders. You are very judgemental. I have heard Gods voice. As a matter of fact. You more or less literally feel Gods voice not neccessarily "hear". Wheather or not someone has studied the subject of hearing Gods voice holds no barring on wheather or not they actually heard the Lords voice. That all said the answer to this question is simple. When God speaks to you, you WILL know. If you are unsure. It was not God. God makes himself known without question as long as you have the faith. With the proper amount of faith you CAN literly move mountains.

He can present himself in angelic form and persuade many people from weak to strong faith depending on if the understand the aspect of hearing God. You can hear Gods literal voice, or you can feel his presence or motives pushing you along. Any contradiction to that, you better read your Bible. I love you, and God bless you my friend. It is very possible to hear God's voice and misunderstand Him which is where His Spirit comes in and prayer. That can be potentially dangerous. Be careful everyone. Also, I have spoken with a couple of people who were fully convinced that God spoke to them, but yet what they claim God told them contradicted the Bible, and even after I pointed that fact out to them they got upset and said they don't care what the Bible says because they know what they heard was God. Well I simply told them that I believe the Bible over them, and that is when they walked away haven't talked to them since.

How do u have the authority to say that God only talks to a few? U don't know that? I like listening to a lot of yr sermons but many times I've heard u say things that I feel yr crossing the line to be able to do. U are to deliver God's word. Ur not authorized to decide who, how many, and If God talks to. That's Gods Job. Not yrs.
