I see bishop Barron took Peterson’s comment on the people needing to be led on a heroic journey seriously. Word for word what Peterson said. Outstanding homily.

I was bummed I wasn’t going to leave for the journey to DC to stand up to the current persecution of the church. Now I am searching for another route to give the best of me to Christ. I have a plane ticket, but found I am pregnant with twins and the flight and possible danger is too dangerous for my little ones. Now I’m not bummed anymore. I see God is showing me another way to find him. I have taken up the weapon of the daily rosary rather then marching and waving signs. The invisible enemies are scared of my love and attention to the rosary, I can feel it.

Migue, I will still pray for you, your father's eternal rest, and all those in your family. My brother died May 24 of the worst form of a brain tumor at 60. We asked for a miracle, but God accomplished His Will by taking him to Himself. Acceptance is one of the great gifts we can give as the Magi gave theirs.

"Sometimes we can discern the will of God but we can't muster the courage and energy to act" I love that comment Bishop Barron because the reason that the world is at this point of such a deep turning away from God, where evil is celebrated and goodness is condemned is precisely because of this lack of courage on the part of Faithful Catholics to say yes as Mary did despite any apprehension we have, because when it is God's will then of course He will be with us to guide and protest us! "Expect opposition and muster the courage with God's Grace to face it down" profound words Bishop Barron and so true, God bless you!

"Giving God what's best in me.."
My father was not a practicing catholic. He embraced the catholic faith only when he married my mother. When he first learned of my religious vocation he was very silent & showed no support. I was surprised to hear him telling his friends one day : " Must I give God what is not precious to me? He deserves the best."
Thank you Bp. Barron, you just reminded me of my father's big heartedness. May he rest in peace.

We all should know how to live a righteous life. We just need to remind ourselves not to be misled, not to be tempted. I don't know if it's my flesh or evil that makes me week, but when confronted with difficulty we can always ask ourselves, what would Jesus do?

God bless you and keep you Bishop Barron. I'm happy to have you as my "virtually present" spiritual director, because you always confirm what the Holy Spirit stirs within my heart and mind. I think what I truly love about following the daily readings in step with the church, contemplating what Scripture is revealing, then listening to your homilies for each Sunday is working well for me in this pandemic state. I know what I always need to work on after I hear your words. I long for the day when churches can reopen and I can return to enjoy the Eucharist, and thank our Father for bringing Him into the world. Truly we can celebrate the Epiphany every Sunday when we receive our Lord.

Three times, I listened to this homily and finally saw in me the « on-offedness » that prevents me to break open to God. While, as a sinner, I tend to sin, sometimes I attend to God, other times I attend to, not unlike Herod, what I fear the most to lose - (in my case, my fear of losing being desired by others). Now, I see the pattern so clearly: while, as all sinners, I tend to sin, I attend to God once, I attend to the sweet taste of the apple at another time. Now, here is what I am hearing for the first time: « While tending to sin, always attend to Me, dear child of mine. Such is the only way to a different route. »
A blessed New Year to all and my brother in Christ, Robert Barron. Shalom

Thank you, Bishop Barron! At a time in my life where discernment of how to best serve God in my remaining years has been foremost in my heart and prayers; being willing to act while holding nothing back can sometimes be a frightening thing, especially in the face of opposition. I am praying for the courage to trust in God's grace to sustain me in whatever way He would care to use me. Pax and blessings to you!
