OMFG! yes! I have this fucking awful mini atx small dick ass fuck fart MOBO? Heart attacks I have had so far: removing ram, install more ram, getting to the ram clips. Last time I upgrade ram was years ago when ramslots were far enough appart(?) and both ends opened, intalling another connector for more hd space, every video from tech tubers is all like: wave my hands and its that easy! uh mmm say that with a mobo and tower that incredibly cramped!

Trying to remove my GPU right now. I just cant get it out. What is this idiotic mechanism?? I have tried pushing the clip very hard with different tools, but it just wont move. Now my GPU is half out and half in. (Stuck from the rear at the clip)... and I need it out right now!

Used the screwdriver method for a long time with no issues... until there were issues. Screwdriver slid out of the slot taking a surface mount component with it on my $300 motherboard. Nice. Larger issue in my case wasn't necessarily the material as I'm sure even plastic would've ripped something off but force. When you're applying a downward force like that you're relying on your reaction time to know when to stop so if the clip is particularly stiff as it was in my case it can still cause problems. It night be wiser to strike the back of the implement with the handle of a screwdriver or small mallet. That way the force is only being applied to the clip and if it deflects it wont have any force chasing it just the inertia of the plastic itself. Not a mistake I plan on making again.

I found a reddit thread that suggested a wooden chopstick, and I managed to make that work perfectly (never slipped either, which was a relief)
I found it a lot easier to push almost entirely from the side (like the back of the pc case, rather than straight down), thinking of it as pushing the clip 'back' rather than 'down' (or I guess forwards, since that's towards the front of the case?)
The chopstick was super useful because of how long it was though, I have one of those fat new-gen cards and a giant cpu dual-tower cooler leaving me less than an inch of space to work with over the GPU.
Anyway, thank you for the video, it was helpful, and I'm glad I didn't use a screwdriver for it.

Any tips on removing the clip altogether before installing anything on the slot? I think the clip should not exist at all; as long as you screw in the card tight enough, the clip will not be of benefit.
This design was okay when graphics cards were small, so the clip was easily visible and reachable, but this was a long time ago. Today, on top of the sheer size of the card, a thick backplate may make pushing the clip with a finger very hard even with good clearance, since it may partially cover it. This design should not be utilized any further is my opinion, all new mobos should come with something easier/more advanced, and most importantly safe for the other parts to operate with.

This was an absolutely brilliant "how to."
And I've watched a ton in the recent build, this was one of the most succinct. Kudos.🥇
Just about to order a trim tool set. (Which I never heard of before this vid) also liked, and subbed, you deserve it
    Thank you. 👍🏻

There's a special place in hell for whoever decides that clip is a good idea.
I've damaged a Lenovo motherboard from trying to fight that demon of a clip.

my PCIE clip broke off when i was just using my finger, not even sure how since i wasnt putting that much pressure on it. no other damage apart from that broken piece, everything still works fine. Had to take out my GPU to reach the smaller PCIE slot for a wifi card

man this would’ve been useful back in March when I got a 3050 (returned it because it was a downgrade + never got it in the pc) This info will be useful when I buy another graphics card which will hopefully be soon

I removed the broken clip, took out another clip from an old motherboard, shoved that one in and I'm back on, the motherboard was scratched too but seems like msi did a good job with their x570 tomahawk, we'll update if anything comes up

Sadly I already have a broken clip so I have to find a way to remove the GPU. Its only the part of the clip that you use that is broken so there still is clip there only where its hard to reach (behind the GPU)

My issue is that I have more stuff mounted to it than the clip. It has like this metal wedge that holds the graphics card to the motherboard. I have a Msi 3060ti

The clip on my Aus x570 is horrible it’s somewhat mangled like it was chewed on by a cat or dog.I don’t know how it could have happened but yeah hard to remove my gpu every damn time I struggle.
I wish these companies would design components with users in mind because whoever made this clip deserves to be fired it’s so soft and bendable plastic not normal at all.

I removed one of the fans on the cooler to get to the pin and i cant press it down. I have removed the gpu in the past and i remember it being difficult but i dont remember it being this difficult.. Good thing the gpu has a backplate and theres some metal thing right next to the pin just like yours, so i wont damage the motherboard.. From experience i think these pins start to become more loose over time if you tend to remove the gpu often, if not then theyre very difficult to deal with.

    doesnt work for me.
the 2nd pci slot for the GPU is destroyed because of this crap system, now my motherboard is still functionin though I lost audio.
My main gpu slot is now in danger cause the GPU will not release
