A coworker at a motorcycle shop in the service department with me went to Daytona one year. Two stroke days. His machine was jetted for approximately 1500 feet in elevation. He did not reject for sea level. At Daytona he crashed and broke both legs and both arms when his bike seized
And that's why you leave the speeding to professionals who have gone through training and are wearing protective gear and know what to do in case of a crash like this. Best you can do is wear protective gear and obey the laws of the road and do not speed. Especially if you aren't wearing any protective gear which in that case, you'll paint the road red if you'd crash by loosing control after speeding. There was a bad crash around my town a year ago, guy sped with his bike and crashed straight into a fence separating the street with the sidewalk/bike lane. The blood stayed for days before getting washed away by rain. Busted his skull probably, blood on the sidewalk, fence and street. Be careful!
The guy on the inside who gets clipped has to have nerves of steel. The fact he kept control of the bike and didn't panic is amazing. It's crazy how well the safety gear works to lay down a bike like that and get up and walk away is unbelievable. I think when he hit the seam in the asphalt that's what upset the bike. I think had he stayed above that line he would have been ok. I think the seam caused just enough uneveness that it took away some traction causing the bike to slide out. If that seam wasn't there or he stayed above it he would not have lost traction . The seam coupled with the rain was just enough for the tire to lose it's bite on the ground. That same seam dry might not make a huge deal but when crossing it in these conditions it doesn't take much to upset the grip .
Don’t want to come off wrong but thank god he was unconscious when was sliding down the track, (from my experience) if he wasn’t limp and was trying to stop or react in some type of way he might’ve rolled even more, or broke/snap a few bones. The commentators are mostly wrong. The rear tyre touches that slick black line, which is either oil or fresh rubber from a burnout of which both are super slick and have no grip at all. These accidents are the end result of the rear tyre touching that black line..
