- The Girl I Left Behind Me But You're a Polish Lancer at The Battle of Waterloo.
The Girl I Left Behind Me is a fife and drum fast marching song, first used in Britain but later adopted by many European countries.
The Battle of Waterloo was fought on Sunday, 18 June 1815, near Waterloo in the United Kingdom of the Netherlands, now in Belgium. A French army under the command of Napoleon was defeated by two of the armies of the Seventh Coalition. One was a British-led coalition consisting of units from the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Hanover, Brunswick, and Nassau, under the command of the Duke of Wellington (referred to by many authors as the Anglo-allied army or Wellington's army). The other was a larger Prussian army under the command of Field Marshal von Blücher (also referred to as Blücher's army). The battle marked the end of the Napoleonic Wars. The battle was contemporaneously known as the Battle of Mont Saint-Jean (France) or La Belle Alliance ("the Beautiful Alliance" - Prussia).

That one fifer on the back playing this while watching me getting mauled by fifteen zombies
missing the sounds of bullet-struck bayonets ringing like tuning forks.
I remember how my grandfather used to tell me about his grandfather that used to tell him about his grandfather's sacrifice at the battle of San Sebastian where British Portuguese and French regiments fought off the Blight to escape, some say it was him who lowered the platform to let the regiments into the shore.
i like the art but girl i left behind me is a british song and the polish lancers were with the french, also the girl i left behind me was a departure song meaning they would sing it before leaving
I think the music compliments the theme of the video completely. "The Girl I Left Behind me" was a general marching tune that was commonly sung in basically every single regiment of the British Army, regardless of where they were or what they were doing. At the battle of Waterloo, they would have surely played this song and im sure that even the Polish Lancers of the Imperial Guard cavalry could hear the British fifes.
My survivability would probably be at 0%

why a british song for a polish soldier?
The fifes were... loud. The French lancers charging at the British would hear them. Actually, no, everyone would hear them.

blood and iron reference?????
I love the ambience, but I would've done the old guard since the polish lancers didn't fight at Waterloo... They were only there as a very small group of the best of them who went with Napoleon into exile. They probably didn't fight, and if they did they went along with other cavalrymen.
The 1e Chevau-Leger de Garde (1st Light Cavalry Lancers Regiment of the Imperial Guard), more commonly known as the "Polish Lancers" did indeed fight at Waterloo. They countered an attack from the Royal Scots Greys dragoons led by William Ponsonby, and even participated in Marshal Ney's suicidal cavalry charge.
@@michael_iansmiththeMHistorian Your knowledge of the era if commendable, need more heros in the world to hit people with an um actually.
@@michael_iansmiththeMHistorian Mate, the part you said about the attacking of the scots greys, They were actually attacked by the chevau legere lanciers (am not referring to the polish and the dutch lancers), They Managed to route and scatted the Scots greys in the process.
@@michael_iansmiththeMHistorianYou think that the Polish Lancers did attack the Scots grey but it's was actually those Chevau legeres did it to the royal Scots greys, And they managed to kill the British general sir ponsonby.
