Everyone is doing K swaps now days. The fact that this car got a B swap instead of a K swap makes it even more special! Dang it i want this car so friggin bad! haha
@@givemefreespeechyoutubehitlers I’d say is more like doing a 427 instead of a ls. Sure the ls will be better in practically every way, but damn there’s jus something cool about an old school setup
They could make a nice living just doing custom turbo manifolds, intakes, headers and exhaust. Every time they say their building custom piping for a car it turns out like a work of art. But always performs as good as it looks.
Beautiful EM1 you did this car justice. I do like the B18C choice for a swap over the K series. I also enjoy the sound of a Vtec B series over the K. The sound is more RAW sounding and the K has a Mechanical sound? That’s the best way I could describe it.
John from LHT is the true Honda expert with many amazing Honda builds. I hear he's the guy from a few tuning magazines. Obsessed garage is the most chillest person alive lol
There’s definitely a bolt spinning down by the alternator when he says “alternator belt is loose still” at 38:49. Also, the power steering fluid reservoir is jumping up and down at 45:54...
You know Matt love your Porsches, your M3 etc but this little Civic is special and certainly my fav of all the cars you have done, it’s your creation, 1 of 1. It’s also pretty nostalgic for me having owned multiple Hondas and Type-R’s but what I love is A: the attention to detail and B: not going overboard, OEM+. I miss that induction note to this day, reminiscing about my old ITR missing Hondas in my life, boy I love their engineering. I need to find my way back into one cause this series has hit me in the feels. Excellent work to you and LHT, shame it’s going but I hope it goes to someone who’ll appreciate this little gem. Incredible build. Before the 8th gen this was what I wanted for many years. Unfortunately i don’t have the nest luck when it comes to “winning” so I won’t even give it a chance, don’t need the let down. Who knows. Regardless, impressive to say the least! And also it was great seeing 2 of my subscribed channels merged for unbelievable content. Thank you for this. Thank you both
This is an awesome built Matt and you couldn't choose a better person to do it! John is so attentive to every detail that is amazing! LHT Team did an outstanding job!
Been following your channel for a few years Matt. I used to play games like Gran Turismo back around 1998 just to build all the Honda’s to the specs I always wanted in real life. I jokingly tell my wife about you and I say this man is playing Gran Turismo in real life! Never stop with the content creation. Your sometimes brutally honest but never fake. Also, once the civic is gone. I sure hope you do a similar project with a 1st gen NSX. I believe if you did all this work to the true Honda “supercar” you wouldn’t give it away.

I want this car so bad, I’ve had over 10 civics and integras from the early 90’s through the 2000’s, about 15 years ago. The one car I never was able to find in mint condition was the 99-00 civic SI. I’d just die to have that car, that exceeds my expectations of a clean one. I just hope whoever gets that next, keeps it in pristine condition
Bro your guys's stuff is awesome very very knowledgeable. I have a 99 Civic SI and I've been watching your channel just to get ideas of what I can do looks just like the blue one that your buddy owns
Spoon Twin-Blocks have the same overall piston area (fluid displacement) as the Integra 57mm front pistons. SpoonTB = 2587mm/sq vs Integra 2551.8mm/sq. That's why they run a 1" master cylinder for Integras with ABS (or 15/16" for the non-ABS trim like Integra RS or 90-91 Civic EX). The stock EM1 Si Calipers use a 54mm front piston (2290.2mm/sq) which is why Honda paired it with a 7/8" master cylinder. The problem you may notice on this Civic is that the larger caliper piston area and rotor diameter you added to the front will shift brake bias forward causing the rear brakes to be under-powered. This results in less overall work being done by all 4 tires at the threshold of traction. The solution is to upgrade the rear brakes to Type R spec. You can do this on your stock 4x100 hubs by getting type-r rear calipers (34mm pistons up from 30mm stock) and 03 Civic Si 260mm rear rotors. This setup will be bolt-on and take your brake bias to that of the EK9 & DC2. That's 1.5% more aggressive than the stock EM1 bias. Currently you are actually 4.7% worse than a stock EM1 and 6.2% worse than an ITR. PS: The "baller" route would be to order 2 new OEM ITR rear calipers which will have a beautiful zinc coating. Oh, and if you really wanted to test it, do some before & after stopping distance tests.
Haha, thanks for the heart. You and I are the same age. I remember when they came out, I always wanted one. I had a 92 GSR when I was 19 that I wish I never sold. I did enter to win and I have the garage space, she'd be taken care of, left as-is, and cherished.
i like all these vtec pull. b18c is an amazing engine so is the b16. b16 with short gear ratio and high flow head making it accelerate quickly. i believe its similar to b18c only that it has less displacement the reason why b18c pull better top end at higher speed. both engine is port and polish from factory.

He drove the GT4. I just may have converted him.
He is the inspiration for my EM1. I have one exactly like his minus that wonderful engine.
I tend to come across people with EM1s that want to boost their B16A2 and I can't help but wonder why... I had a '18 SI (which are boosted) and I've had my fun. I also cannot bring my self to doing a K-swap... Just doesn't feel right.
B18c from the Integra type R jdm makes 200hp out of the box. My civic eg6 got a B16b from the civic EK9 type R.
270ish[if i understood right] horsepower in a 2300 pound civic is quick as hell and the type R parts and originality just makes it such a beauty
That intake belongs in a museum...JESUS!!!
Why are so many people talking about selling this... That’s a shame obviously you guys are in it for the money and not for the love. The only reason I am entering to win this car is to drive it around and enjoy the fine details he put into this car.
