- My 18 year old show jumper going cross country for the first time in his life!
It was also Coco's owner, Amani's, first time riding cross country in her life! Coco had been before two times with me.

Urano looks so proud of himself whenever he jumps something. He's such an awesome horse. Also, I need you as an instructor - you're so encouraging without being patronising!
I had an instructor who yelled at you when you did something wrong or fell off so that you wouldn't make that mistake again. I only had her when I was a teen (15/16) so I could take it but the young kids she was teaching she did the same to and some came out crying, I really disliked her bc of that. This instructor sounds so nice and encouraging like you said, this is how it's supposed to be.

i love how Harriet rides, she just moves with the horse and lets him speed up and take the spots he likes without getting in the way, like a part of the horse. great riding!

The scene after 3:35, when you asked him to jump downwards and he was reluctant and did not obey immediately, remembered me of one of your most famous videos "This is why he isnt an event horse", presented on the channel EddiesGun91 on the 1.3.2012 (7 years ago!). In that video you have to convince a tall dressage horse of a friend of yours, to jump downhill over a small creek, which he refused even by rearing backwards. You succeeded by following two other horses - but only in a very spectacular curious vault-leap, which left you behind.
As a good instructor you turned to repeat that passage again - and he answered with five spinning rears. You had to fight and calm him down, which you did in the end with a second jump.
That video is one of the most popular horse videos on youtube with more than 4 million visitors and 5,179 comments. And what did the people say to Lauren´s riding skills? 25,870 thumbs up liked your riding and only 1,518 showed dislike - probably because they envied your riding as they would have not been able to control and motivate such a difficult horse.
And you, Lauren, already in 2012 were my favourite rider on youtube - and remain so until to-day.

As Lauren was the only experienced participant of the four, my congratulation goes to Amani and both horses for doing really well in the unusual surrounding.
All of them were especially not used to jump down and uphill, landing on a lower or higher level - as show jumping horses always land on the same level as the jump off.
And we admire the memonry of Urano, who in the beginning (at 0:00 "the good start") did find out, that the Emirate´s flags are dangerous and must be avoided. Not even you, Lauren, were able ro make him go near that flag, so that you gave up after 20 seconds at 0:23. When you later even tried ro make him jump over such a dangerous thing, he was quite right in saying "No thanks" at 2:55. And when you forced him to jump following Coco - I felt you should have thanked him for being so brave.
The situation at 4:54, where Amani fell off because Coco was frightened and spooked off, was solved in a very good way by asking Harriet to jump over that, let Coco see how it is done so that Amani could mount again and continue safely. And later on Hsrriet also procves that she will be a successful rider on Urano - good luck to her!

urii jumping down banks is so cute aha
it shall be no offense, but some of you guys should let the horse longer rein over the long (down) jumps. look at the reaction of the horses, they fight against the rein after the jumps because of the pain in their mouth. beside that, well done :)
Especially the younger rider, perhaps holding on to a neck rope as they went down would be a good idea, I know it's really difficult not to slide back and pull when you're doing drop fences 😂
They just need to be taught to slip the reins a bit. They are good enough riders that they should be able to gather them back up after landing so they should be taught to do so. However, in fairness, do we know how many times these girls have ridden these particular horses? Just asking because that can definitely make a difference. Rider's will naturally be more hesitant to give a new mount so much leeway because the trust isn't there yet.
I reacted to that as well, the beginner rider did pull a bit hard on the reins when going down and you could clearly see the horse not liking that very much.
The rider did seem very stiff to and not really sure what to do when the horse jumped and just reacted with holding on to the reins for dear life.
I would say its a good idea to learn how to have a bit softer touch to the horses mouth, and hold onto the saddle instead of the reins when going down like that.

What are the parameters of the part-leasing arrangement of Urano you have with Harriet ?? Why have you chosen to share him ? ... is it a financial consideration or to keep him in work if you are busy working/studying or travelling ?
Leasing is unusual in my part of the equine world among non-professional owner/riders (New Zealand). Can you please explain what your leasing entails? How it actually works and is it specific to the nature of the yard set-up in Dubai ? Thank you.

I get that she is learning but I definitely don't think she should be going out and jumping all this stuff out XC if she is not ready for it, maybe she could do XC in the ring to get more practice before she goes out.
Disappointing. Let's see some real cross country, and not a child's playground.
