I put a peerless diff axle on the mobility scooter build. Put a disk brake right on the diff which can be risky since thee braking force isn't directly applied to both axles. Been ridden hundreds of miles and no issues with that setup yet. Stops nicely thanks to the tires being aggressive enough to not loose traction and have one wheel spin backwards. Having the diff on such a short wheelbase really tightens up the turning radius!
Useful info! I actually have a Manco Dingo and now that I'm an adult. I never use it. It just sits around rusting. I've been thinking of turning it into a bit of a lawn tractor with an open diff and less agressive tread and a lower final gear ratio so I can use it to move stuff around the yard, towing little trailers and things like that. Not sure it's going to happen but if it does, this is definitely the way to do it!
There are Peerless 100 "knock-offs" that use different side/spider gears and retain the side gears to the axles differently. I've seen both 15 and 16 tooth side/spider gears, along with axles that had the side gears attached to the axles with splines and a retaining ring, "double D (two opposing flats) and a retaining ring, and double D with the gear staked on. There is a difference in the case halves, too.
Holy cow me going fast Ive been bitching and whining for months about how there was no videos on youtube of a gocart with a differential thanks for finally Showing one
Np, hope you're doing well man! Funny as it took a couple months to hunt down a place that knew how to get them in stock and have a good turn around on shipments.
Does anyone know the real torque limit for these 100 series diffs? I know the spec say 125ft-lb output, but I'm curious what they break at. I'm going to be running mine at really low rpm and high torque. Heat will not be the issue because it's low power/low rpm. Just straight up torque at around 100rpm.
Hello! I have a PEERLESS 100 Series Differential Assembly on my three wheeler. I’m running into an issue where only one side of the axle will spin under power and when I manually turn the axle where the wheel mounts the other side will spin in the opposite direction. Any advice?
The peerless is not limited slip, so both sides need to have equal traction. The sprocket mounted on the differential itself and equal weight balanced across both wheels, while each wheel maintains the same amount of power to the surface. Both wheels also need to be on the ground at all times. So if you tip a little, you'll lose traction again.
Suppliers mentioned should have, but if cannot locate through them searching "peerless 100 gear" with a search engine should return results to look through.
We just got back from a 24hr race in AZ with my students built cyclekart. We got 2nd place. But the cyclekarts with Diff did a lot better in the sand and turns. To bad those teams kept breaking down. I will have add your video to my lesson plans I normally just show the following one from the 50's ua-cam.com/video/yYAw79386WI/v-deo.html
A Go Kart Differential may be great for flat land, even ground. Overall turning help, check out front turning here: ua-cam.com/video/4uZpNjgrdOI/v-deo.html
I knew some of this , but what sets your description above others I've seen is the clear , yet simple demonstration . Very well done !!

All those little where to get mysteries, stopping all kinds of great small machine builds... All it took, was to find your youtube channel :)
Great video. I’m always learning something new when I watch your videos.

@@megoingfast did you make this video because of my bitching and whining ?
This is exactly what I was looking for. Have you experimented with electric assist rather than brakes to control the slip with the same differential?
I have a diff on mine, and I'm doing a sliding diff lock for it!
Sweet!
With a diff lock? Where might I find one of these online?
@@Codyclark02 diff lock is my own creation, not finished yet.
Wonder if they make a limited slip version?

I like this guy. He is smarter than me.
Limited slip diff would be cool! 😎
Could fake it with brakes on each side, controlled. But yeah, they're pretty basic.
@@megoingfast Hey that's what my Subaru Impreza does! 😆 But it does it automatically, but still.. does work in snow very well.
If this could mount on a yerf dog 3203, this would be a game changer as the turning radius and turning capabilities suck but the frames are amazing
still waiting on them builds
Go kart differential axles for the win!
Good morning, Where can I buy one of 1"?
There are several sprocket sizes available also.
Where can I find sprockets tia
where can i buy this diff? show the site.
On a live Axle will the turning be better the shorter the Axle is? I'm about to build a trike.
I'd think so because there is less mechanical advantage of the wheels fighting each other, but I could be wrong
Great explanation!👍🙂

Does anyone know where i can buy something like that in Europe??
Mantap bang saya juga lagi bikin go kart 😁👍🙏
Go kart differential for barstool!
Do they need any maintenance?
I feel like I'm watching a different channel...lol
I have 6 of these from a clean up I did?
Where can sprockets that fit this be found?

Staton inc. sells the Dif , the sprockets and the rotors. nice people to deal with.

You can get a 3 pice with differential from some snowblowers
