You guys do some of the absolutely best FoW Battlereports and I am sure we are many that really likes them. A note to the rules. In V4 you do not get concealment for being half behind a wood or other terrain except buildings and hills. To get concealment from a wood you have to be in it. So no sneaking around the edges. If you want concealment from a wood you have to risk a cross check.
Not disagreeing with you, but thinking it out loud - that makes no sense. How would a forest in between two units not conceal but being halfway in it does? I think this would be a fair rule to house rule.
@@onomatopoeia7505 because if you read the rules, the only place that can give you concealment for being partly behind are hills and buildings. Pg.53 concealed by short and tall terrain. It tells you that you have to be seen through terrain to gain concealment. If you are only half hidden by a forest, you can draw line of sight without seeing through terrain, so NO concealment.
@@Tontisimo being halfway in a forest do not give you concealment. If you can draw line of sight without going through terrain you are not concealed(pg.53). The only exceptions to this are buildings and hills(pg.54).
That is not the problem... The soviets won the game in turn 6 when that IS-2 popped the puma holding the objective :)) but a great game and battle report!
Another great battle and battle report. Very tough for the Russians to launch an attack where they have to move with ROF 1 units and 50% chances of a failed Blitz. If the Germans had Pz IVs and/or StuGs instead of the Tigers, it would have been a much different game. Also, something that has only recently come to my attention is that if any units of an artillery battery performs a successful Blitz or a Shoot & Scoot, their ranged in marker is immediately removed. This also applies to the single US mortar in an Armor Rifle Platoon. Even if that mortar doesn't move, if ANYONE else within that platoon moves, it will force the mortar to remove their ranged in marker. Up until this point was made, our group didn't pick-up a ranged in marker for a moving AR with the mortar staying behind. Just something to note for the future when Jon's US forces return to the battlefield.
Did the Pumas have to dash to get to 4” of the objective? If so they could not contest, and the Soviets won when the IS-2 passed its last stand roll. Fun game.
Fantastic initial camera work, guys. Great explanations of thought process as well. One thing that could help the viewer follow what´s going on with initial deployment and reserve arrivals and would be a still image of the table with a semi-transparent overlay of the Hasty attack mission, if that makes sense.
Great to see another BR guys! The format and presentation is coming along nicely. I often find SE grens need 3inft PLs and or 2 smoke templates to survive an advance. But both were nice lists.
Hey guys. Great video. I hope you'll release some more FOW content soon! Quick question - the forest terrain of yours looks like it's based on some flyscreen? Is there a source of guide to do similar for my own terrain?
Great video once again, with only one suggestion. When you tell us what your army lists are, can you show it, too? "Use your American dice for your Soviet army" - Basically landlease dice, so why not? :-)
Is it just me that thinks the Russian won in turn 6? There was just 1 Puma contesting the objective, that’s what Jake said, and that Puma got distroyed by that crazzy IS-2... so by V4 rules, if you start your turn contesting and if you end it with no other emeny forces in 4, then you win the game. Is it?!
Thanks for asking! We were playing the old Hasty Attack mission that had the old version of the win conditions. Since we both agreed on the mission beforehand it seemed far. The old wording for those interested is "WINNING THE GAME • A player wins if they start their turn Holding one of the Objectives on the opponent’s side of the table."
@@AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall I still don't get it :-). You started your turn on the objective. When you killed that contesting puma with IS2, didn't you fulfilled second part of the winning condition (no enemy teams within contesting range)? sorry for insisting, but I would just like to undestand how it works :-) great content btw :-) I'm heading to Patreon to support the channel :-)
Well I would eat my hat due to the loss of my vaulted Russians, however, I am going to blame new army rules and dare that army to lose again. Impossible I say! Katyushas, heavy armor combined with a more methodical pace and long distance, no movement sniping will make this army a winner. Still, an amazing battle report! Keep it up guys! Oh, I totally think some blue on blue or red on red would be awesome to see. Send Jake's Comets against the t34-85 horde or your 76s and jumbos against the heavy armor Russians!
In German shooting turn 3, when the 88s fired on the IS-2, wasn't there a potential 50% chance of a side shot because the turret was turned? I think splitting shots for the Germans hurt them. If they focused on a unit you might have killed them sooner.
I enjoy your battle reports a great deal. Didn't know that ISU-122 could shoot indirect fire. I don't play the latest rules, still doing V5, but your reports are great.
Thanks for sharing this report ,chaps. It has rekindled my interest in the game which has waned of late. Also, what do you use for the woodland "bases", please?
Thanks, and for the woods I bought some Christmas village decorations like 15 years ago in a discount bin at Hobby Lobby. Don't know what they are called or if they still make them but they do come in handy.
@@AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall Honestly Jon I thought you had cut up some of your table place setting mats. www.amazon.com/Kraftware-38236-Fishnet-Placemat-Green/dp/B00E2DUZTM I can only imagine the flak I would catch from my wife if I did that! LOL!
my only change for Germans are reduce the half track gun platoons to 4 and add a 2nd puma platoon...although you need to find 1 more point( or use SS Recon company )... also HEAT has no modifier Enemy armor +1 over 16 inches.
So where is the army presentation? I only see reading the list from phone, not very convinsing, why dont you present your armies like you did before, whole army in the table before gaming? For that reason thumbs down.
Thanks for the honest feedback. I think we are going back to that format. Jake wanted to be a little more artsy with the army presentation but I think it's not giving you guys enough information. From here on out I think we will also include the army lists in the video description or/and perhaps a companion video that covers the lists in more detail.

Seems like a case where maybe those free PTRDs on BA-64 options would be useful. Quite a threat to halftracks.
A couple questions regarding your forest terrain. What did you use as the base?
Re: the German 88's what did you use for their camo netting??

How do you paint your Russian tanks. I'm painting some T34/85s and I'd like to copy it.
Hi Dean, you're in luck, I created a video on how I painted my soviets which can be found here. ua-cam.com/video/PpGqO408GaM/v-deo.html
I looked in the Soviet Bagration book and you can't have IS2s, In a Heavy Artillery SP Regiment
True, but the IS-2 Company was added as a black box support Unit and not part of the Hvy Arty SP Battery Formation.
wow
Should have started with the Russian Infantry on Board. Then you could have used them to threaten one of the objectives.
So weird seeing 88’s bounce
yet oh so satisfying
Great batrep. I really like that Russian army list. But the Russian attack was a bit piece meal and the Russian armour saves were most unfortunate.
