Historical scenario? Yes! Two fun-to-watch players? Yes! Lots of rules going wrong? Yes! But in the end, this channel still produces the best battle reports.
Woohoo! Barkman in action, thanks for posting! Wished I lived near your corner of the world, would be fun to play with good natured players like you sometime. Plus, I completely get the giddiness of your son, when my Germans are winning I feel the same way, I’m always crushed a turn or two later, but those 15 min are awesome! I also totally loved the whole let the newbie feel good about themselves (and fall in love with the beautiful German tanks) to sucker them into FOW.
Absolutely the most entertaining battle report I've seen in a long time; loved the scenario, the crazy dice rolls, and the way the game played out. Great job!
Nice, love how the rules in flames of war are structured and actually reflect what happened. Jake should kick off introductions more often, he always looked pained when just standing there.
Great batrep! Those grenadiers didn't need to unpin to fire the faust as they were not actually hit in the assault, not that it mattered of course. Jake finally had some decent luck!
Great game...love Jake’s enthusiasm and glee at all the burning Shermans! Couple of points: The rules for hitting side armour have changed for V4 you use front armour only if entirely in front of hull or turret. Barkmann would have been bailed when the Sherman blitzed on to his flank. In the Sherman assault the tanks should have tested to cross the bocage first, one failed, the other never tested but, was bailed by the Panzerfaust. After Jake counterattacked the Third American Sherman became involved this doesn’t happen in V4 only the original attacking teams participate see LFTF page 5.
Aaawwwweeeeeeeeeee!!!!!! Thank you for this battle report!! 👍 that’s so exciting to watch shermans comin through bocage and Barkmans panther killing’em one by one 😁 infantry in assault was very lucky and it worked very well!!
Love your videos, I was planning on buying the Battefront Hedgerows. But I'd still like to make better ones. Could you do a video on how you made yours, they look pretty damn good. Keep up the fantastic work!
Made those a long time ago but it was pretty simple. I used floor molding strips for the base. The kind that are only about an inch wide. Drilled holes and used tooth picks for the posts cutting the tops off to they were even. Then I used drywall tape attacked to the posts to create the bocage wall. At this point it looks like a chain link fence. Kitty litter for the bases. I usually paint the bottoms first then lots of glue and Woodland Scenics flocking stuck to the drywall tape to build the hedges. Hope this helps
Drip feeding tanks in this mission is basically ideal for the defending player. Good rolling aside, US player’s approach must be to gather up into a single fist and ram it through with the weight of fire.
Historical scenarios like this would be perfect for making boxed sets like alot of the old 40k starters. They would be standalone introductions to the broader series.
Great job running this scenario and great to see Jake being stolen but not mattering at all! :) you guys mix the rules as great as you produce the vids, stating again that it is a fun show to watch! Congrats! Jake, always question your father’s rules judging!
Pretty sure faust hits on 3s once you are in assault. Slow Firing is a rule that affects Firing/Shooting. Assault uses Assault/Skill ratings. Unlike Zook and Schreck, Faust does NOT have a worse Assault rating. It hits on the regular SS 3+ Assault rating. Not that it really mattered in this match!
I much prefer this type of scenario over points need to do more of this . first thing I thought was a double pincer swung wide and attacking together where the forces were more divided.
More historical games will come and we are getting back into 40k with 9th edition. We will have our first 40k Battle Report out in the next couple of weeks.
im just getting into the hobby. ive been wondering how people store their armies. i have one Feldher case but thats not enough and even it it was it doesnt fit every model. does anyone have a solution?
For most of my armies I used plastic tubs from Walmart lined with non slip shelf liner. Some guys add a metal plate with magnets. I do have some foam cases for travel.
Not sure what point in the video you are referring but direct fire smoke doesn't have to be the first fired in the shooting phase, only the first fired in a particular platoon. So one platoon could open up on a target and then another could fire direct smoke. Only Smoke bombardments must be at the beginning of the turn.
Unfortunately not really... however if the model is similar I’m sure anywhere you go would let you do a proxy. Like a mid war tiger for example is still extremely close to its late war counterpart.
How many bloody adverts for ffks that said the scenario demonstrates that the earlier systems in fow were far more interesting and wargame friendly. This scenario is a great scenario to replay too and refine your tactics and also highlights that you need density of cover if you want a more realistic and stimulating game . Still find v4 far too reductive for wargaming alas

Best part of this video was Jake's pure giddy joy in his large scale Sherman slaughter
@Nicolas Zeke yeah stop commenting then getting your mate or alt account to reply
I think the production and that intro deserves an applause! I didn't even realize I was watching a Miniatures Great and Small video.
40 minutes of Jake standing over an anthill with a magnifying glass.
Damn straight.
I have never seen jake roll so well or be so happy great game Jake

Brilliant battle report! Thanks to both of you.
Glad to see Jake finally get some good dice MOJO, it was long overdue. Great video, keep up the good work.
Excellent game. Nice fun scenario. Well done Jake.!!!!

More, MORE BATTLE REPORTS!!! thank you for your content
Fantastic - again, love the historical scenarios.

ultimate excellence lies
not in winning
every battle
but in defeating the enemy
without ever fighting

Great battle report. Myself and our group still remain v3 but nevertheless, great to watch :)

a very very very very very very happy jake so good to see
Enjoyable, nice shake up from the regular games.
Nice battle report

if you know the enemy, and you know yourself you fear not the result of 100 battles

Good nitty-gitty tactical battle.
Amazing video!
Awesome as always

That would be the way to do it. Get everything on the table, get into position and then charge all at once.
Nice to see Jake get some good dice rolls for a change!
I think he was happy to see that too!
great intro music wow
Barkman for the win! I have used Barkman in my 2nd "Das Reich" SS Panzer Division since he came out.
Opposite ends of the luck spectrum in this game, but also some nice tactical moves on both your parts! Thank you for the entertaining video!
Awsome !!!
I was looking to play this one.
Hey. Great battle. :) what do y’all use for the hedges?
The dice gods give Jake some revenge for the past few battle reports!
I'd be down for more historical games. Hopefully also some 9th edition 40k

Scenarios all the way vs match play
Barkman got super lucky
i think u must soot smoke before any shooting ?!
Yup, you shoot smoke before anything else.
Yes you do we missed that one. Thankfully it wasn’t crucial to the outcome of the game 😁.

Hey you've upped your game!
Thanks!
Can i use mid war units , in a fight aganist late war units?
No you can’t because of unit’s points. For ex: Ferdinand in mid is about 17pts and in late 13pts. The count is not the same...
Unfortunately not really... however if the model is similar I’m sure anywhere you go would let you do a proxy. Like a mid war tiger for example is still extremely close to its late war counterpart.
If i want to use italy as a support in late war can i do it?
DIMATHEM4D RUSSIAN MONSTER no you can’t. The cost of your Italians Mid is not planned for Late...
Whats that cost thing, can't find it

YT is upping their advert rate it seems.
Yeah, I don't manually place ads, just click the auto option and let youtube do the hard work.
