      Hey guys, you mentioned in the video that you wanted ideas of things to film in Canada. One such thing that may work would be making a video on the Rideau Canal in Ottawa, a 200km canal built in 1832 to connect the Ottawa River to Lake Ontario. The canal also has an incredibly old but still functioning system of locks to boat to higher elevation. It's a UNESCO world heritage site and would is incredibly beautiful in the summer (where the public can use them). 2017 is also the 150th anniversary of Canada, so that would be a fun time!
      p.s. also in the winter the canal becomes the worlds largest skating rink
      Cheers from Ottawa!

    Supermarkets tend to keep sock styles for years. So stock up on a drawer full of one type, and buy a n extra pair every so often when you are shopping.
    Then you just chuck out odd ones and don't worry about keeping pairs. Granted, they fade over time, but you can usually find roughly matching ones.

  • @AdeonHawkwood
    @AdeonHawkwood 7 років тому +7

    I'm the same way with socks. I toss individual socks out when they get holes and then when my remaining supply gets below a critical threshold I throw the rest out and buy about 15 identical pairs. It ensures I always have good socks and simplifies laundry day since I don't have to worry about sorting them into pairs.

    Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis The Wise? I thought not. It’s not a story the Jedi would tell you. It’s a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life… He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying. The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful… the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. Ironic. He could save others from death, but not himself.

    If you are looking for stuff on the Western end of Canada, I have a few ideas:
    - West Edmonton Mall: One of the largest malls in the world, if memory serves it is only outdone by one in China. It has multiple indoor theme parks, including a mini-golf course, a roller-coaster, and a water-park.
    - The Royal Tyrrell Museum: One of the most extensive paleontology museums in the world, and the largest collection in the Americas. Also has a fair bit of history what with it being the primary benefactor of the dinosaur wars.
    - The abandoned Calgary subway system: When Calgary was getting its public train system it was originally intended to be an underground rail system. But after the tunnels were all dug, the Mayor decided to scrap the project and build an above ground rail system because it would be cheaper. While the tunnels are closed to the public, it is still possible to get down there if you know somebody at city hall.
    - Chinooks: Chinooks are a weather phenomenon, local to Calgary. Its a native word that means "snow-eater". While the weather phenomenon itself isn't unique to Calgary (other places call it an El Niño), the effect it has on local Calgary weather is. It pushes away the clouds in winter resulting in half the sky being completely clear while the other half is solid clouds as far as the eye can see.

    I wasn't drunk, because I was like three, if that, but I did catch a Canada goose one time. My family was at the park feeding geese, and I noticed one goose was very preoccupied with its meal, so I sneaked up behind it, and then jumped on its back and grabbed its neck and proceeded to ride that poor goose. That goose was flapping around, squawking 7500 (aviary and aviation humour all in one), and trying to crane its neck around at me to bite me. :D

    For focusing on one's own face from a tripod, you can pan the camera around once you've focused on something, so it doesn't have to be *where* you are, just the same distance from the lens. So, a tree offscreen, the edge of a door, etc.

    My problem isn't people using PHP and JavaScript for projects, I do have a problem with people recomending them for beginners as Python, Kotlin, and Julia all exist and are actually beginner friendly languages. So much so that the default install of python ships with an IDLE instead of an IDE and that extra L stands for learning. If you want to get started programming then learning python is a better start, I'm fond of Kotlin as its very similar to Python in basic syntax but has the compatability and abilities of Java, and Julia is great if you are trying to do complex maths because its almost as simple as python but is faster so it can compute large datasets in significantly less time

(stupid thing that requires special servers, environments, whatever) with someone whose experience with programming is either purely academic or involves some gigantic, slow company with a six-week change control process...

    I'll have you know, Canada has the worlds longest bridge over frozen waters called the Confederation Bridge. We are also celebrating 150 years of being a country this year so it's a good year to come to Canada

    • @RealLuckless
      @RealLuckless 7 років тому +3

      Confederation Bridge is a good one. Nice segment showing off the bridge construction on the PEI side. (The side which you have to pay to leave...)
      And if you do the bridge, then you may as well head down and check out the Bay of Fundy and the world's highest tides. (Strongly suggest making a day or two of that just to experience the whole cycle, and give yourself time to setup shots.)
      There is a salt marsh in the area near there as well that was a CBC world broadcasting location that could make an interesting topic.
      Over in Nova Scotia there is a site of a new commercial rocket launch pad planned.
      May as well do something on Anne of Green Gables. Possibly how much some people in the region hate the character. (And how multiple movies/shows about it were made, and filmed elsewhere in Canada after they trucked the red soil in to pretend it was PEI...)
      Halifax and the Halifax Explosion.
      Coal mining and mining disasters.
      Seaweed pie?
