Glad to hear it from a non-Dutch guy. Because as a Dutch guy, I have to agree with that fact. Schiphol IS terrible, mostly because of the crappy train station underneath it that closed like once a week due to false fire alarms going off which shut down the entire tunnel, and thus the entire access to Schiphol via train.

I disagree, Tom. That guy had a four hour opportunity to explore a bit of Berlin. For me that is worth it because it combines at least two things that I enjoy, (flying and exploring new places), with the bonus of saving money and no real need to pack or plan for it. A long time ago I flew from where I lived in Newcastle upon Tyne to Newquay via Dublin and Gatwick. In Dublin I had several hours to look around. One of those flights cost only 2p. The whole thing along with return flights came to under £10. Seeing as I enjoy flying (I love boats, planes, trains and automobiles...) it is not actually too much trouble.

That was like working in the casino industry, we could manage a 12 hour shift, followed by several hours of drinking, grab a quick couple of hours sleep. Look like warmed up crap, right up until you hit the table, and it was like a light was turned on and you got down to working, which when dealing, is a bit like a performance, but one where the audience takes part, and is quite often drunk.
The worst part was the quick change overs, where you had an 8 hour gap between shifts, which seriously ate into the drinking time.

Unless prescribed, yes (am Scottish, have been on it for insomnia reasons), though I believe that biomelatonin is legal? It's apparently faster-acting, probably significantly weaker. Melatonin is fine but it has a whole load of long-term possible side effects iirc.
It's what your body naturally makes when it's sleeping time (not so much if you're autistic) but it's not like a tablet can mitigate dosage time that well, so it makes sense that it's not strictly over-the-counter legal.

Only reason I wasn’t feeling so off was that it took me 20 hours to get there, a horrible 8hour layover in England, in the middle of the night, so I couldn’t go into London and like do something. I can't imagine 200 miles being a long trip. That's 3 and a half hours (3 on a good highway, or 76 in traffic). I used to drive 10 or 11 hours once a month (and considered myself lucky that I was back on the east coast and could drive to Florida that easily. It was 18 hours from Texas!)

It is legal, you can be prescribed melatonin, I used to take it as a kid. I wasn't sleeping very well a year or two ago.
So I went to my GP and asked for it and they happily obliged.

I hereby appreciate affordable flights within Australia far more than I did previously. I always assumed that transport would be similarly affordable in the UK, except more so because the distances are shorter; evidently not.

I wish I knew what it's like to live in a place with a lot of small countries. I can't even say what it's like to live in a place with a lot of small states. I live around the center of Florida, and if you drive north 4 hours, you're still in Florida. You drive south 4 hours, you are still in Florida.
