  • Everything you ever wanted to know about what it costs to get on the track in an IMCA Stock Car! We'll show you 2 budget levels, and hopefully cover everything required to get you out there in one of the fastest growing and most exciting classes in dirt track racing today!
    Hello, I'm Charlie... a guy well past the age where you should jump in a stock car and go slide around on dirt, but when you've dreamt of doing this since you were a kid watching your uncle win races all over the Midwest in the 70's and 80's, you gotta give it a shot while you can. Did I mention I have no idea what I'm doing and not a good mechanic??? Join us as we chase a dream in the IMCA Stock Car division at our local Iowa & Wisconsin dirt tracks. Maybe we'll even visit some other tracks this summer too! Thanks so much for watching, and please subscribe to see our video updates! :-)

    Jus found your channel. Looks like your all havin fun!
    Been around Imca stockcars since mid 90's. Helped put together and finish many new chassis' after getn it back from builder.
    Our team's driver had a guy give him his checkbook after we had been out of racing for 3-4 years.
    Go get a stock car built if you want. I'll pay fir it.
    It was 8-9 years ago we went and picked it up, he climbed in, started it and drove it on the trailer. Best of every thing. $51000....we all got a chuckle out of that. NOW THAT'S WHAT YOU CALL TURN KEY!

    I run a 2006 homebuilt IMCA Stock Car in California and am still able to be pretty competitive. A good motor and set of shocks seems to be the most important things in these deals.

    That in line with our Thunder Bombers, our biggest cost containment is the tires, retreads without grooving, siping, or needing. Restrictive engine rules, full size clutch and flywheel (we use Z28 style) 3 speed transmissions. However used cars still are being sold for 20k. We run considerably more races 28 is normal for a Saturday night track alone. We start mid March, race until mid November. That doesn’t count the few Friday tracks or special well paying races Ex The world short track championships at Charlotte.

      Weather in our part of the country shortens things for sure. Our 2 local tracks probably average 10 to 15 races per year with rain outs and winter creeping in. Races in April / May and end of September / October around here can be COOOLD!!! :-)

    Man I am glad that I be an old gray beard guy now, that has race winning trophies that span 5 decades , over 2 hundred wins and every car class I raced I brought home from a junk yard. The first two cars I built I did it out on the gravel drive way in the cold and snow, Yup I won track champ with both of them cars. Times have changed and I wonder how many kids don't race because of that kind of budget needed to go race for 200 bucks a race. Thanks for the reality check, nice job

    I know a guy up here in northeastern Wisconsin who spent 60 grand on a new car. Pretty sad for a class that you could jump in for 10 if you wanted a good car.

    Hey Charlie, what editing software do you use? I like how you incorporate pictures and subtitles to the videos. Thanks in advance!

    • @oldguyhobbies3236
      @oldguyhobbies3236  5 місяців тому +1

      Adobe Premiere Pro! I honestly started the channel as a way to learn the software... I try to learn new editing techniques each week to get better with it.

      @@oldguyhobbies3236 Awesome! Love that reasoning. I want to film my racing season here in North Carolina as a way to connect with my family in Minnesota. So I'll look into that software!

      It seems every class that tries to be "affordable" ... ends up with competition finding a way to increase costs.
