As you mentioned iwrestledabearonce, I’ll just add that before IWABO, Courtney was in Unicron. In all three bands, she’s both sung and yelled (as she put it once!). 😁
Unicron and Spiritbox are probably more of Courtney's style than IWABO was. When she joined IWABO it was essentially a tongue planted firmly in cheek type of band. By the end, they were getting more serious about what they were projecting. However, in those bands Courtney was doing cleans and screams. And the cleans were pretty poppy. That's always been her style. Check out Unicron's song "Broken Vessels" from 2012 to see that though she was doing much more traditionally growlier stuff (and I'm glad she moved away from that), the cleans were heavily influenced by folk rock and R&B.
