Just gotta say, the irony in me saying "I haven't seen this band get a lot of hate" and seeing butthurt metalheads screaming "tHiS iSnT mEtAl" in the comments is not lost on me. 😂😂
The moment a band gets described any sort of gateway to metal, they get slandered by metal gatekeepers until the end of time. It's ridiculous. Everyone uses pop melodies and structures, isn't immune either.
Took them long enough to figure out he could sing. It’s like they found him in a target or something and didn’t realize he played in another band for 14 years
The thing i love most about Spiritbox is their restraint. Everyone knows that every member of this band can shred their instrument of choice, but they play to serve the song, and it just sounds great
Exactly. I feel like a lot of bands would have added a brutal section somewhere in this song just for juxtaposition’s sake. I love that they upped the intensity throughout the entire song, but never went so far as to ruin the song. Absolutely brilliant package with the music video.
Great reaction - so much better watching reactions from music lovers and celebrators versus haters. You have great musical understanding while also enjoying the variety Spiritbox does which is great.
I've probably posted this on all reactions for this song but shoutout to Versa Films for another incredible vid. This is their 7th? vid with Spiritbox and its beautiful. Also shoutout to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan where this vid was shot 🇨🇦 Love seeing epic shit like this come out of my province ❤
Tank, have you heard Spiritbox's performance of Circle With Me from Louder than Life where Tati surprise-guested? The video with remastered audio is AMAZING, & it was amazing to experience live
@@TankTheTech They had Sam from Architects on for a song too! I dont remember which one specifically. I think during their set they had three or four different artists with them on stage. It was awesome to see! You should try to make it out to LTL! We would love to see you there!
I could not stop listening to this song once it came out. I’m stoked for this album. It’s so hard to have back to back banger albums. Eternal blue, and the EP are some of my most listened to albums I have. I can almost guarantee this album will be added to that list in my repertoire.
With every new release, I love this band more and more. At first, I didn't get the hype at all but it is starting to grow on me and it happens fast 🤟🏼🤗🍺
Ever since I heard the debut albums of Periphery, Monuments, and Tesseract, I've been jamming to more bands like them and Spiritbox box for a while now. I still like my 2000's metalcore, melo-death, powermetal, and nu-metal bands. Courtney's voice is so good!
In the last 10 years the bands in the metal scene that have been killing it consistently and blowing up are Sleeptoken, Slaughter To Prevail, Left To Suffer, Jinjer, and Spiritbox. At least in my opinion.
I learned of spiritbox because of the collab with Meg Thee Stallion. Love that song. I thought to myself damn this is like rap metal. Like metal as hell I was so pleasantly surprised
Tank, my good man, I love to hear you break down music. I have loved music my whole life but I do not understand it very well. Since you (and people like Chase C./Charismatic Voice) have come along, you help me understand the WHY of it all to me. Music makes more sense now, I have learned so much from you and really appreciate you. :) Much love!
I really liked this song. I love listening to Eternal Blue as well, and this points that the new album might have a similar atmosphere. I think you hit the nail on the head when you talked about how they nail the groove with their music. Whether it’s a heavy or softer track, it has a groove that makes it great to listen to.
Been a while since I popped into a tank vid. I’ve missed this. Amazing vocals amazing instrumentals, Spiritbox is quickly becoming one of my go tos. Keep up the good work Tank!
Tank you said, and the original Circle With Me video that there would be a huge anthem moment when she sings, cut down the altar at the beginning. There are so many video clips of that exact same thing from the crowd and on stage of thousands of people screaming the opening to that song . You good sir are a prophet lol
The production on this is great. They deserve all the success and are genuinely some of the best people ive ever met. Also their pizza colab they did with Prince Street was amazing
this song is a complete vibe. the added high harmonies from Josh on the chorus is just the icing on the top of a band that didn't think could get any better. perfection
I found out Spiritbox are supporting Linkin park at Wembley stadium next year.. Which is pretty nuts, I saw them play at the Roundhouse in Camden a while ago and that was so much fun. Brand of sacrifice supported them, who now are going to support Fit for a king and Motionless in white next year. So awesome.
Been a fan ever since their Iwrestledabearonce days! I’m loving this new era of female lead metal bands! Spiritbox and Not Enough Space are at the top of it for me!
I just saw the caption of this video and I 100% agree, I’m kinda eh on the new song but it’s absolutely a perfect gateway into the band’s catalog. Plus Josh Gilbert is back in full force and I love that.
Hey Tank, I'm here for the live but chat isn't showing. Wanted to say Hi and hope you feel better soon. My best to Ingrid & Claire as well! Edit: LOVE this song, 💯 agree with you!!!!
Next month in Mexico we'll have a big concert with Thrown, The Plot In You, Polaris, Spiritbox as part of Bring Me The Horizon tour. Spiritbox will be the last band before BMTH and they have been delivering a lot recently. I'm really pumped to see all those bands live, I'm mainly most excited for Spiritbox and BMTH.
I think think Josh's voice along with Courtney's works fantastic fun fact also in mid October me and a friend who isn't particularly in the metal scene went to go see Jinjer and he absolutely love them! and I introduced him to Spiritbox and he's been slowly getting in to them :D
Love the song. I also like their less scream-y songs sometimes. I also love Josh's vocals being layered in there (if you have a Josh Gilbert in your band, you might as well use him). Also RIP to their original bass player Bill Crook. He died in July.
The reason you hear that Chino vibe in the vocals so different its because of Josh Gilbert's vocals too! I wanted that from Spiritbox for so long! They had a weapon with Josh Gilbert and they finally used it!!
I immediately caught that Take On Me similarity. I'm glad you said it. That was my validation. That's actually a good thing, no matter who it pisses off. It was a similarity but not a copyright violation; an "in the spirit of" if you will. Melodies sell. No way around it. If it were just a bunch of screaming, I would have turned it off and never looked back. Screaming is niché music. It ain't for everybody.
That part you think is Aha - Take on Me, I think it more lines up with "Sixpence None The Richer - There She Goes" I think it's closer in pitch and form Edit - noticed someone below also commented this one, nice work
You just aren’t looking hard enough. Every damn metal news page that ever mentions SB people come out of the woodwork in the comments to say they are over rated, blah blah I hate this band blah blah. It’s dumb. Because they rock my socks.
Dude, I had the exact same reaction, hearing A-Ha in that little melodic bit the first time I listened to this song. I kinda doubt Courtney did it deliberately but I wonder if she was aware of the similarity at any point. No shame in it. Take On Me is an iconic song.
Tank please tell me that Electric Callboy are doing an arena tour of the UK. I know they can't announce it until after they do Slam Dunk, but I need to see them in an arena, if not I will have to go to Deuchland or Austria please tell me.
I don't know about the others, but during the release of Soft Spine, all the album and EP's cover arts were changed to grey. So that's the whole color theme of Tsunami Sea or something?
I think genre labels should only be used as a (very basic) guide for people thinking "I like band X, who else could I try next?" - they make rubbish boxes. Anyway, I like this and i don't care how anyone wants to categorise it. Nuff said.
I don't think there is a band that doesn't escape the haters. I've seen the usual obnoxious, "that's not metal" gatekeepers go after Spiritbox. I saw someone comment on the live collab of Circle With Me they did with Tatiana from Jinjer saying "nice pop song". Being from the US my first thought was "wait what?" (thinking Taylor Swift/Miley Cyrus) but it turns out the guy is from Sweden and explained to me that "pop" in Sweden is hard rock to metal.
@@perlundgren7797 Okay well this commenter seemed to me to mean it as an insult to the band and the song but since I don't know a lot about radio and music in Europe I took his word for it.

Can we just talk about how THATS JOSH FUCKING GILBERT SINGING AGAIN
I was waiting for him to mention that 😭
I've been waiting for him to finally start singing!!! One of my favorite backing vocalists...
Super stoked about it! I was worried with Courtney doing both clean and harsh vocals that he would never feature in the songs.
It is truly special, I hope we get more of them together
As a die hard ol skool AILD fan I approve!
If Spiritbox becomes Courtney and Josh singing the shit out of songs, I'm all for it.
Josh Gilbert singing harmonies is everything we fucking hoped we'd get when he joined the band.
Josh's additional vocals just take this song to the next level, love it.
Yes icing on the cake
100%
As much as I love to see him have success in Spiritbox, he is one of my favourite vocalist, I wish he would sing more ahah
Took them long enough to figure out he could sing. It’s like they found him in a target or something and didn’t realize he played in another band for 14 years
@5fingerdpunchfan originally all he wanted to do is play and not really do vocals or be part of writing. Guess he changed his mind

So happy they they are finally taking advantage of Josh's vocal talents. Courtney and Josh combining together vocally is a so powerful.

Hello my dear friend Tank The tech, I Love Spiritbox, Spiritbox is perfect, the biggest new metal band in the world, 👍👊🔥🎼🎵💯🇨🇦👑🌠🤘🤘
Jaded is still my favourite Spiritbox song, but Perfect Soul is a VERY close second 🤘🏻🤘🏻
And also Josh Gilbert SINGING 😍😍😍🤘🏻
This band just can't write a bad song! 🔥🔥🔥
Don't be surprised if this band ends up getting on pop charts in a few years.
