Very simple, Broncos need a hard reset, you can not get a QB because lots of pieces missing, 65% of cap is on 9 players, strategy should be trade down on darft and get more picks, cut or trade Tim Patrick and Sutton (31 and 29 years old) and Bolles (32 years old) this year, lots of good WR on this draft and get an OT. Next year fix Defense, year 3 get the QB and pieces missing since you will be good on cap space. Sad but no other way. Rebuild comming.
Totally, I think JJ is a young talented QB with enough upside to grab otherwise build the rest… rebuild necessary either way
I would think they'll trade Jeudy first... he's UFA in 2025, save $12M off the cap with zero dead money.
The guy to watch in this draft is Jackson Powers-Johson, the guy with three last names. This kid is a 335 pound earth mover at the center spot. We can move down 10 spots & pick him up, add a 2nd round pick in the deal just like they did when they traded down in 2019. Then move Surtain for two #1 picks like Jax did when they traded Jalen Ramsey. They got 1600 draft points for him. Those two moves would bring us excellent draft capital for the next two years and we can rebuild the trenches. If we put JPJ in that line next to Quinn Meinerz, you've now got two big nasty boys in the middle there & this run game will start to FINALLY go somewhere. We have 2-3 years to get our QB now. We don't have to concern ourselves with reaching for the 4th or 5th best QB in the draft and watching the guy fail like half of all first round quarterbacks do. GREAT decision by Sean Payton.

I don't often agree with Mark Schlereth but he is 100% correct about this. Stripping this thing down and rebuilding it from the ground up has been what was needed 5 years ago. This takes the pressure off needing to draft a QB now. They don't have to reach for a guy who is QB 4 or 5. They can let the draft come to them, rebuild the trenches, get younger, bigger, stronger, faster and cheaper. Payton will rebuild this team just as he did the Saints...THREE TIMES. For the first time in almost a decade I am excited about the future of this team.
Sean peyton is overrated. Ive been saying it since his cowboys days. Couldnt even REACH a superbowl more than 1 time with a blue chip qb

Payton was cheated out of a trip to a 2nd one by the refs in what was probably the most blatant missed call in NFL playoffs history against the Rams in the NFC title game. He's also young enough to coach another decade so he will have his chances again. Also...since you obviously don't understand this I'll clue you in. Payton is the reason Drew Brees is in the HOF at all. Brees was nothing until Payton got hold of him. In fact he was on his way to possibly having his career end. Without Sean Payton, the Saints don't win a Super Bowl. That franchise went to the playoffs 5 times in 39 years before he showed up. Anyone who thinks Sean Payton is not a great coach knows very little about the NFL.

Thank you mark for calling out Russ's garbage stats! Its been so annoying hearing everyone defend his stats on paper and say he was back to his old self. Anyone who actually watched him could tell you thay the guy was borderline incompetent most of the game. The reason why his INTs were so low was because he never threw over the middle of the field and would just dump it off behind the line of scrimmage most plays. 3rd and 15?? Dump it. 4th and 20? Dump it.
You ever think that's because he didn't trust Sean Payton's play calling... To sit here and blame Russ for all of this is crazy...

Go back and research Sean Payton's career. You will find that he has done this in New Orleans, not once, not twice...but THREE TIMES. Each time he rebuilt the Saints into one of the NFL's best. This is the start of a ove that has needed to be done since 2017.

As a Broncos fan, it was time. The GM should be relinquished of duties at the end of the year. The russ contract was a very poor decision. However, either way, this was heading towards a rebuild. Unfortunately, we dont have much capital in either draft picks or cap. Its a mess and I dont see them fixing this for years to come. Not without some draft luck on their side.
I hope Russ signs 1-2 years for Las Vegas. They pick up Penix Jr in the later rounds, giving him time to learn behind Wilson.

This on you, Mark, advising your friend John to get rid of Tebow even though he just put up a 90.0 rating in the playoffs in his 15th & 16th starts ever, WITH no training camp (the lockout year) and being inserted halfway through the year after being 3rd string. Peyton Manning won a Super Bowl with the Broncos putting up worse stats that year than Tebow, & of course was done after that. Anybody who thinks “Tebow sucked”…why not give him another shot back then instead of this nightmare decade spending all of the assets to get WORSE than Tebow ever did with hardly any idea what he was doing. Mark Schlereth is correct the Bronco's need to stop getting veteran's that are past their prime and uses. I know they are doing because they got Payton Manning. They should just draft a QB and develop them and build and Offensive around them.

Y’all really have to watch the games. I’m a huge broncos fan I catch every single game and I’m telling you Russell Wilson is the russel Westbrook of the nfl. Just like Westbrook when he was averaging triple doubles but teams still didn’t want him and if he didn’t watch those nba games you couldn’t understand why teams didn’t want him with those numbers until he got to your team and understood how bad his game is and how fluffed up those numbers are. It’s the same with Wilson. If you just catch a game here and there and look at stats you’ll think he’s amazing but if you actually watch him game after game you’ll see he is a very limited QB that’s required so much to be perfect just for him to be ok.

Schlereth can say whatever he wants. He won three Super Bowls. Denver had a top 10 OL in the league too. There's a reason Russ is one of the highest-sacked QBs in the NFL every year. He can't see over the middle of the field and then abandons the play by running backward and getting sacked.
