It kinda suffers from what I call "Fan Burnout", when something instantly becomes a MASSIVE hit and reaches the highest of highs at an early point, but starts to wane and fizzle out as time progresses. And there's also the incredibly toxic fanbase. Toby said that he would prefer if his game was an obscure gem with only a few fans rather than become a cesspool of toxicity and negativity.

A king is one who leads his people. He doesn't sacrifice himself for the people. The people sacrifice themselves for the king. Basically, the monsters obeyed the order to kill all humans without hesitation, so, in a way, he isn't the servant, but the monsters themselves.
You forget though Tortoise, he does not do it because he wishes. He only does it because he no longer sees a way out... And feels it is the only way he can give hope to his people. He does it for the people, and no one else.
Listening to this, you can tell exactly what's happening in the fight. You can hear the shame Asgore feels, and the determination that denies it the right to stop him. You can feel the burns and cuts Frisk accumulates, hit after hit, death after death. You can feel the nobility on both sides. Or at least I can. What I'm trying to say is it's a damn good cover that perfectly captures the essence of the battle
I swear, surviving my feels in this fight was harder than the actual attacks. I died 12 times before I finally conceded that I needed to USE the FIGHT button. I hate that button.

If you pay attention, all of his attacks does only 1 damage, its the karma and the abscence of invencibility frames that makes the most damage. Asgore isnt really going with everything against you. He can dodge (confirmed in one of Undyne dialogues), he dont think he deserves life nor mercy since he destroy the mercy button. He also is always looking at the ground so you cant see his tears (thats how you see his trident pattern). Sans is smart and *WANTS* to be hard/annoying as much as possible, Asgore *DOESNT WANT* to kill you, even look at you makes he feel guilty about his past and himself. He just shows a shadow, a fraction of the real King of The Monsters

Maybe the reason why you don't get to actually fight Asgore in the genocide route is because Toby knew that Sans was damn hard, and he also knew that (if you are right) in that sittuation, with his wife and his beloved people killed. He would go with everything he's got (maybe even the souls he already has) and the Asgore would be even harder than Sans,.But this time the hits would be serious. not 1 per hit saveral times. Maybe you need to dodge Sans beacuse he hit's many times and you NEED to dodge Asgore because he can kill you in 2-3 hits. Asgore's stats are 80 atk and 80 def. Maybe if he goes all out that could be 180 atk 180 def. Making a lot of people litterally give up againts Asgore, not neccesarilly because he's too hard but because that would be 2 extremly hard bosses consecutively and people would be tired after Sans

In the world of undertale it's the intent to harm that truly does damage to monsters. So with vicious enough words Frisk/Chara could kill asgore by breaking his heart. "Toriel screamed and begged as she died. All because you were weak. Too weak to stay strong through your grief. Too weak to follow through on your plan to take revenge. Too weak to protect your family, your friends, your kingdom. You're not a king, just a lonely old child murderer. You know you'd be better off dead. You only fight because, at the end of the day, you're too weak to face the death you deserve." Bam, Asgore collapses, too upset to even cry properly. In a moment of resolute despair he whispers "I'm sorry..." and impales himself on his trident. Chara smiles.

I absolutely love how you have the song looped halfway through. The transition it smooth enough to not be annoying, but jarring enough to some how get you pumped for the second repeat.

How epic would it have been if, on the Genocide route, it turned out Asgore absorbed the six human souls in preparation for your battle, and destroys both the Fight and Mercy buttons? He will not ask for mercy, but he will not give you any, either. And unlike the battle with Flowey, you don't get sympathy from the six souls to save you. Asgore either destroys you during his brutal onslaught, absorbs the seventh soul, and destroys the barrier himself, or if you survive long enough he uses a Final Redemption attack that destroys both himself and you to atone for the murders he committed and to avenge all the monsters _you_ murdered. Then Alphys shows up, revealing that she ambushed Flowey while he watched the battle to make sure he didn't steal any souls when the dust settled, absorbs the seven souls, and destroys the barrier.
Asgore is seriously my favourite character. He’s just like Toriel in a way, but feels pressured to do what he’s doing to free everyone because of his status.

For me, this is the most emotional song of Undertale, when I listen to it I always remember a king who only wants the best for his people even without wanting to fight, instead of just seeing it as another soundtrack. It was nice to meet you goodbye
I feel like I've seen a pattern in the Undertale fandom: The less we see a character, the less we like them, the more we assume that they're a bad person. Like, Papyrus has the most lines of dialogue in the game, and he's one of if not the most universally adored characters in the game. No, I'm not counting Sans-- both because people like the fanon version of him more than the character himself/has unfortunately become a meme, and also because there is now a sizable portion of fans who see him as overrated because of it. While Papyrus does have his fair share if mischaracterization, he's still more well-loved because of his personality instead of his cool factor (but he IS very cool. He said so). But when it comes to characters like Asgore, we quickly make judgement calls that I feel like we wouldn't if we had just seen more of him. I hate to bring up Chara since they're basically discourse incarnate in the UT fandom, but despite them having a major influence on the game's backstory, we see them ONCE in ONE ending, and, similarly to Asgore, we make judgement calls on this character (who is honestly barely a character) purely because we lack context. Oh, and both characters are also heavily associated with bad things (Asgore has a foreboding vibe all the way until we meet him-- at which point it just gets depressing-- and we literally only see Chara in the flesh at the end of the route where we force ourselves to murder everyone). Basically, the UT fandom has both a problem with flanderizing complex characters and jumping to conclusions about more mysterious ones, which sucks, because Undertale is an extremely nuanced game DESIGNED to make you think. Anyway that's my rant for the day have a good one gang

for me this song is always the best song tbh asgore theme song is always my favorite because it gives you a feeling that asgore doesnt want to fight you but does so knowing he wants to free all the other monsters and knows the true prophecy but hates to do it but has no choice...which for me i kinda relate to him because in some of the games i play when i get to a battle thats a boss battle (mostly skyrim or kingdom of Amalur:Reckoning) tbh 1 of the KoA:R bosses i sometimes will say to them "Forgive me but you leave me no choice but to do this" and then ill fight them or other times ill say "i dont want to do this but i got no choice you chose your path now i must end you"
You also get some of Heartache in there, but nothing from Bergentrückung in Heartache. Asgore still wants Toriel back. Toriel deleted Asgore from her life.
man, screw the newer rap and stuff. you havnt lived a full, succesful, and happy life untill you have beaten the game. had to be by far the best turn base game i will ever have played. his theme still gives me goosebumps and as i write this comment the amazing memories and feeling of accomplishment after beating him floods back. this song is so fire and i will never be able to forget the times. thank you undertale for the amazing game. and thank you FalkkonE for making this dope re-do of the theme. he will always hold that special place in my heart as my favorite boss from undertale
The look on his face when you first meet him and he see's its the human will always pull my heart strings, becuase he doesn't WANT to do it, but feels like he must becuase the whole underground counts on him, it's an unbearable weight he has to carry, knowing what needs to be done to free his kind and also knowing how hard it is to make that happen. He didn't want to hurt anyone, but he didn't want to let his people down either, it was a double-edged sword situation.
What i really like about this video is that, number 1, the art, i like how the artist did with Asgore's face, you could definitely see and feel the pain that he have to kill an innocent child just to free his people. He knows that deep down his ways is wrong but he has no choice but to do it. 2nd is the soung that blends in very well with the art itself, so dramatic and intense at the same time.

Maybe the reason why you don't get to actually fight Asgore in the genocide route is because Toby knew that Sans was damn hard, and he also knew that (if you are right) in that sittuation, with his wife and his beloved people killed. Asgore wouldn't feel guilty, he wouldn't hold back like he did in the neutral route. He would go with everything he's got (maybe even the souls he already has) and the Asgore would be even harder than Sans,.But this time the hits would be serious. not 1 per hit saveral times. Maybe you need to dodge Sans beacuse he hit's many times and you NEED to dodge Asgore because he can kill you in 2-3 hits. Asgore's stats are 80 atk and 80 def. Maybe if he goes all out that could be 180 atk 180 def. Making a lot of people litterally give up againts Asgore, not neccesarilly because he's too hard but because that would be 2 extremly hard bosses consecutively and people would be tired after Sans

In the world of undertale it's the intent to harm that truly does damage to monsters. So with vicious enough words Frisk/Chara could kill asgore by breaking his heart.

Too weak to protect your family, your friends, your kingdom. You're not a king, just a lonely old child murderer. You know you'd be better off dead. How epic would it have been if, on the Genocide route, it turned out Asgore absorbed the six human souls in preparation for your battle, and destroys both the Fight and Mercy buttons? He will not ask for mercy, but he will not give you any, either. And unlike the battle with Flowey, you don't get sympathy from the six souls to save you. Asgore either destroys you during his brutal onslaught, absorbs the seventh soul, and destroys the barrier himself, or if you survive long enough he uses a Final Redemption attack that destroys both himself and you to atone for the murders he committed and to avenge all the monsters _you_ murdered. Then Alphys shows up, revealing that she ambushed Flowey while he watched the battle to make sure he didn't steal any souls when the dust settled, absorbs the seven souls, and destroys the barrier.

For me, this is the most emotional song of Undertale, when I listen to it I always remember a king who only wants the best for his people even without wanting to fight, instead of just seeing it as another soundtrack.

I feel like I've seen a pattern in the Undertale fandom:
The less we see a character, the less we like them, the more we assume that they're a bad person.
Like, Papyrus has the most lines of dialogue in the game, and he's one of if not the most universally adored characters in the game. No, I'm not counting Sans-- both because people like the fanon version of him more than the character himself/has unfortunately become a meme, and also because there is now a sizable portion of fans who see him as overrated because of it. While Papyrus does have his fair share if mischaracterization, he's still more well-loved because of his personality instead of his cool factor (but he IS very cool. He said so).
But when it comes to characters like Asgore, we quickly make judgement calls that I feel like we wouldn't if we had just seen more of him. I hate to bring up Chara since they're basically discourse incarnate in the UT fandom, but despite them having a major influence on the game's backstory, we see them ONCE in ONE ending, and, similarly to Asgore, we make judgement calls on this character (who is honestly barely a character) purely because we lack context.
Oh, and both characters are also heavily associated with bad things (Asgore has a foreboding vibe all the way until we meet him-- at which point it just gets depressing-- and we literally only see Chara in the flesh at the end of the route where we force ourselves to murder everyone).
Basically, the UT fandom has both a problem with flanderizing complex characters and jumping to conclusions about more mysterious ones, which sucks, because Undertale is an extremely nuanced game DESIGNED to make you think.
Anyway that's my rant for the day have a good one gang

Did you know that "Your Best Friend" is actually the "FUN Song" from Spongebob Squarepants? No joke. If you speed it up, it has the *exact same rythm and tone.* There is a video here on UA-cam that proves it. I think it was called: "Your best friend sped up is actually..." or something like that, so you should definietly see it. Toby also kinda confirmed that it was intentional, too, since he once made a tweet that had the chorus of the "FUN Song," but he removed it quickly. Hmm...What could this possibly mean...? ;)
Also, I'm pretty sure that the theme "Waterfall" is a reference to a famous anime movie from 1986 called "Laputa: Castle in the Sky" by Studio Ghibli. In it, there is a *very* similar soundtrack that plays during a scene where the protagonist is in a *cave with blue, glowing, star-like crystals hanging from the ceiling.* Sound familiar in any way? Also, the emblem that can be seen in many places, such as the waterfall's shop, is similar to an emblem that is seen in "Laputa: Castle in the Sky." So I think I know what Toby's favourite movie is...
Another secret that I've heard about is that the disturbing genocide route soundtracks in the Ruins, Waterfall and Hotland are actually slowed down versions of their pacifist and neutral equileavants, but I don't remember where I heard that from anymore.
So yeah, there's a few easter eggs, in case you didin't know these, and I'm suspecting that there's even more to be found somewhere.

Absolutely amazing! If there was a genocide Asgore fight this would fit PERFECTLY. It has some of those "save the world" vibes just like the Asriel fight but it would be in a genocidal manner.

for me this song is always the best song tbh asgore theme song is always my favorite because it gives you a feeling that asgore doesnt want to fight you but does so knowing he wants to free all the other monsters and knows the true prophecy but hates to do it but has no choice...which for me i kinda relate to him because in some of the games i play when i get to a battle thats a boss battle (mostly skyrim or kingdom of Amalur:Reckoning) tbh 1 of the KoA:R bosses i sometimes will say to them "Forgive me but you leave me no choice but to do this" and then ill fight them or other times ill say "i dont want to do this but i got no choice you chose your path now i must end you"

The look on his face when you first meet him and he see's its the human will always pull my heart strings, becuase he doesn't WANT to do it, but feels like he must becuase the whole underground counts on him, it's an unbearable weight he has to carry, knowing what needs to be done to free his kind and also knowing how hard it is to make that happen. He didn't want to hurt anyone, but he didn't want to let his people down either, it was a double-edged sword situation.

What i really like about this video is that, number 1, the art, i like how the artist did with Asgore's face, you could definitely see and feel the pain that he have to kill an innocent child just to free his people. He knows that deep down his ways is wrong but he has no choice but to do it. 2nd is the soung that blends in very well with the art itself, so dramatic and intense at the same time.
