Gemstonegeno was a proud member of the florencio science school, it appears he missed the most important lesson: faster firinng means better damage, and it demoralizes the opponent when they see red hitpoint marines defeating them.
There's actually some debate about how venomous komodos really are. We only discovered they even *had* venom in 2005, and there's some debate about whether it's really meant as venom, or whether it's for something completely different and just happens to be venomous. Testing on humans to see if the venom kills you on its own without *also* being savaged by a komodo dragon has been quite limited. Komodos don't really seem to act like venomous animals, either. If their prey fights them off they don't track it waiting for it to die from their venom. It's possible most of the deaths attributed to komodo venom are actually just the natural effects of being attacked by a ten foot lizard capable of knocking down trees by ramming them, and swallowing a goat whole.
@@TriangleChloros We already know what the venom is meant for, and it's well established. There is little debate to be had. The venom is not meant to kill prey by being a neurotoxin like most other venoms. It is meant to prevent blood from clotting. Clotting helps stop bleeding. This is what allows the Komodo to take out large prey animals, such as water buffalo, that they normally cannot physically outperform. They basically bleed to death while the komodo chills after wounding them. As for a human, yes, you're right, the venom doesn't really matter, because chances are they'll run you down before you can get away and bleed to death anyway. But large animals, their venom is basically game over if there's enough wounds.
I sympathize with you, Kris. I've found the way to play ZvT with a turtling Terran is to slow the game down as well. By not attacking, Terran gives up map control, so make use of that. As Harstem points out, slow down their expansion while speeding up yours. Take their bases. Take the map with creep. Do any objective that does not include attacking (unless it's scouting). Note that in the end game scenario, when you convert to the map to units, if you take 100 of their minerals, the difference in total army size is 200 minerals. If you play a higher drone count, don't forget to store larva before engagements to shore up a lower max army supply. Note that this way, this way of 40 minute games will have you start winning at 15 minutes, and you can savor your opponents' tears until they surrender

That's the beauty of a strategy game. You can lose by doing stupid things. 10 spores in response to 1 battlecruiser coming in a minute instead of droning straight to 80 drones by 6.30 or bane busting is a hugely problematic mistake. Getting infestation pit and +2 `and corruptors and everything while staying on 54 workers instead of droning to 80 is a fundamental misunderstanding of the game and how the race plays that you deserve to lose for. Like Harstem said, the play is probably fully saturate 4 bases ASAP, could have been done by 7 mins with this players injects, then mass Corruptor/Bane with maybe like an ultra and deny the 4th repeatedly.
@@tambaz2276 I don't disagree, he didn't even need to do everything you mentioned, they're playing at platinum, he would have been fine using his lings to deny and harass expansions and just made 30 corruptors and a few more drones and got a fourth, like he was playing against somebody not playing very well and got so massively outplayed anyways. That's fine I'm not on him for being bad at the game but complaining and somehow thinking he outplayed the other guy despite producing equal numbers of corruptors for bcs and facing no pressure before the bcs but still being at parity against a player investing in bcs on 3 base. this is just false. you have a seperate unranked mmr that is hidden from you (but not from your opponent) and it functions exactly the same as your regular mmr. Moreover, If you played ranked but not unranked, your unranked mmr will be based on your ranked mmr (and vice versa)

There are plenty of good reasons to play unranked. For example, when I'm drunk, tanking my MMR playing ranked isn't going to help anyone. I'll still end up stomping people, it'll just be when I next play sober. It's also a decent way to learn new build orders for similar reasons. Or to try out new hotkey layouts - a D1 player who decides to learn The Core for the first time is probably going to be low plat at *best*. Possibly much lower. Which explains why you find diamonds in silver and gold - we're using unranked to do things that simply wouldn't work in diamond, so our unranked MMRs end up falling drastically. You wouldn't find many unranked diamonds in gold your way, because the instant they actually started playing unranked, they'd hit plat within, like... five games or so? I forget how long it actually takes to get from gold to plat if you win every game.
@@TriangleChloros Or you could just play vs the AI, 2v2s, or coop while you learn these things. I'm just saying in all of those instances... you have options that don't include unranked. as far as rank progression, it depends person to person. sometimes they jump a tier every two games, sometimes they get it in one, sometimes they get it in 3. so yeah on average, about 6 games assuming they win them all and unranked has provisional MMR like ranked does. It's just annoying, because even if they're not in your hair for long... even if the noob does win... they're gonna get 4 mmr for a game that could legit last an hour because the noob doesn't know how to finish the game. 🤣 it's just not worth it for anyone IMO.
@@imzesok Why would you ever even *consider* 2v2? If a diamond player playing 1v1 at a gold level is ruining someone's experience, isn't playing 2v2 ruining 2-3 people's? Coop is essentially a different game, and the AI just... sucks. Like *really* sucks. In a way that makes it incredibly boring and predictable once you learn how it works. Even a gold player will try to harass you, will throw different builds at you, will in general force you to respond to things at least a little. The AI has... what, like... a dozen builds per race or something? Most of them are pretty outdated, and I'm pretty sure they basically all boil down to 'build an army of [insert composition here] then F2A at you at [predefined time]. If you kill the AI's workers, it will still just attack at the exact same time, with fewer units. Which is kind of hilarious. Do you actually have think diamond players who actually have the game sense to know where things are going, and who *aren't* risking MMR, are less likely to tap out early than gold players who don't realise they lost ten minutes ago? Because I honestly doubt that.
well i bet you chris sucks, but turtle terran is imba, neither z or p can remotely sustain the dmg off T and still be "fine"; but its always been like that bc god forbid terran players actually evolve their strategies or playstyle ;P and now that all "siege" like and longer range units, except terrans, has been majorly nerfed over the years the problem has only become bigger. also T3 terran units are just ridiculessly OP compared to Z and P, especially P.. i mean FGS bc gets free teleport free instant kill unit at mega distance, on top off being basically a carrier that can be repaired and can't lose efficiency due to dmg. ghost is the "from now no bio units can be built or its energy for units; ow and if you protoss i will take 50% ish by just looking at you at longer range than any off your units can fire, ignoring tempest", etc.etc.... just f Terran and their imba crap, and all the constant nerfs to the other races bc off it... the balance is sooo dumb now and lore is a joke compared to the gameplay, it also just feels bad :P
here is my advice for new SC2 players. Don't pick zerg because it's twice as hard as the other races. It's ok to pick terran, but don't pick bio. Yes bio is imba, but you can't turtle with it, and new people don't want to do much activity. So go mass BC or Thor or something, and throw in some hellbats for lings. My best advice is to go protoss but don't build stalkers or disruptors. That's the best comp for having little or no skill.
I'm with Kris on this one. So he was supposed to macro better? Wasn't his macro already better than the Terran's? What else was he worse at than his opponent?

Because I honestly doubt that.
well i bet you chris sucks, but turtle terran is imba, neither z or p can remotely sustain the dmg off T and still be "fine";
but its always been like that bc god forbid terran players actually evolve their strategies or playstyle ;P
and now that all "siege" like and longer range units, except terrans, has been majorly nerfed over the years the problem has only become bigger.
also T3 terran units are just ridiculessly OP compared to Z and P, especially P.. i mean FGS bc gets free teleport free instant kill unit at mega distance, on top off being basically a carrier that can be repaired and can't lose efficiency due to dmg. ghost is the "from now no bio units can be built or its energy for units; ow and if you protoss i will take 50% ish by just looking at you at longer range than any off your units can fire, ignoring tempest", etc.etc.... just f Terran and their imba crap, and all the constant nerfs to the other races bc off it... the balance is sooo dumb now and lore is a joke compared to the gameplay, it also just feels bad :P
plat players are hilarious.
I m same mmr zerg as you and I say you suck HARD after 5min.
here is my advice for new SC2 players.
