A modern take on Goldeneye 007 controls- You CAN play the original game the way modern FPS controls work. Here is how: First choose in game controls menu "1.2 solitaire" and use an original N64 controller (sorry Brawler64 I still love you). Now put your left hand on the D-pad for walking and strafing, and your Right hand to use the stick for looking and aiming only. Change the inverted or non-inverted as desired "Reverse" or "Upright" in game. The right index finger is now to shoot. Your left index finger is now to aim with the L button. This functions similar to and mimics the hand assignments of most modern FPS and newer controllers. This fixes the original tank-like control option that a lot of kids used back in the day. BTW, you can also use these similar controls for Duke Nukem64, Turok, Doom64, Quake 2 already has this control setting by default!
I memorised the spawn locations on each map, then placed proximity mines in all the spawn locations….that was great fun until I died and had multiple deaths at my own hands.
This has always been such an incredible game and still one of my top favorites! When the Nintendo 64 came out I was in my twenties. I went straight to Toys R Us and bought the Nintendo 64 along with Goldeneye 007 and Rush. I still play them even I have the new consoles and gaming PC. I really wish they would make a remastered version for current consoles and have the ability to play Battle Mode online! my brothers and best friends used to play this constantly for the entire day and night and weekends! A Nintendo Switch version would be beautiful too!
the proximity mines were always thing that pissed many off.... Does anyone remember dual weilding weapons in multiplayer back then on the N64?I remember the RCP90's were used alot and the AR15 with its armor piercing abilities to shoot through thick steel doors.... Then later on Perfect Dark came out.
When my bro and I played, I was such a rookie. I truly didn't know how to operate the controller so I'd just have my character go in croutch mode and move around hoping I can get away from my brother
Graslu00 Well in that case, it's 4:31 now, what happen there was, you sort of slapped and killed third player right after he killed you because if you die while in the midway of slapping, it's possible to hit players while dying, making it a ghost attack.

Hey, you're welcome! It's not possible to mix keyboard and controllers, you'd have to play all 4 on different keyboard and mouse or all 4 on controllers. Aside of that, I don't recommend Mayflash adapters, they don't recognize N64 controllers properly and have issues, such as wrong stick range, and detecting the C buttons as a different axis instead of 4 buttons. I'd recommend to look into the Raphnet adapters instead, a bit more pricey, but it's a proper adapter that even has memory and rumble pak support (or any accessory for that matter).
@@Graslu00 thanks for the reply :) The raphnet ones cost 5x the mayflash where I am, so I would probably buy the n64 console instead of going emu. Beautiful first world problems!
Hello again Graslu, I have to ask... did you do netplay? Did you use Parsec? Or did you connect 4 mice and keyboard to 1 computer? I would love to play this with my friends.
I connected 4 mice and keyboard to my computer and played all in the same room. I've tried Parsec and other things over the years but it's not really good. For netplay this is a good emulator - github.com/loganmc10/m64p/releases I've used it a few times with people on Discord and works great for GE and PD. But to play at 60fps with mouse and keyboard, LAN is the only option.
@@Graslu00 so i tried mupen64 plus with my brother, it looked like it was like a server list, or internet connected. I wonder if other people can see it on the server list and join as well? It played very well, probably because we are on the same connection, except the controls were very wonky, even on a ps4 controller. Also, can you play with a mouse and keyboard on mupen64? The mouse injector setup on 1964 is much better. Thanks again for your help! Sorry i know this is a lot lol.
@@e3uphoric51 If you set it to public, other players will be able to join you yes, and of course if you have the ports open for it. You cannot use mouse and keyboard on Mupen.

This is the emulator which lets you play with different keyboard and mouse at the same time at 60FPS - archive.org/details/1964GEPD As for the machine this was recorded on, it was: i7 3770 @4.1GHz GTX 1070 8GB OC 16GB RAM DDR3 I've upgraded it since then, but that should be enough to get 60fps performance on all the mods (here some lag because of the streaming software), and perhaps a bit overkill if it's a machine dedicated to these specially on the GPU area. Keep in mind you need to use Jabo's video plugin, which is low end, to play GoldenEye with more than 3 players. For less it's fine to use Glide64 'Final' which is a bit heavy and emulates the game better.
@@Graslu00 Really great information. I've got hold of an old Lenovo M92P from eBay (i5-3470, 8GB ddr3, samsung 840 evo) from eBay. Assuming i'm good on horsepower the goal is to mod the internals of the M92P in to an n64 case. Might try and pick up a faulty one from eBay to revive it. I've got two usb to 2x n64 controller adapters for the front of the case so i'm hoping to make an n64 pro if you like. :D
So you're planning accurate emulation or 60fps? Because if it's the first, you'd be better off with the latest versions of PJ64. This emulator I linked is only for GE and PD at 60FPS an meant to be played with mouse and keyboard like on this stream. The best adapters you can find are Raphnet adapters too, they even support mem paks and rumble paks.
