SOD HYPE. I am a nub when it comes to WoW. Been playing since sod came out, friends got me into the game. Since then ive tried cata and retail. I def prefer sod over any other version atm and have been enjoying my time playing.
I'd recommend trying classic era, it's like SoD but with less bullshit

if you like playing druid paladin shadow priest or anything other than a warrior, i would recommend sticking with SoD
But I enjoy cata pvp warrior and warrior in sod.

What’s up Alex been a fan of your content for many years, I do think the future of classic is in a more turtle wow type situation, and SOD is not here to stay forever, and it has been said by the classic team they are using SOD as a way to test what does and doesn’t work in a classic + environment.

Nah! You're being too hopeful and let me explain why. The biggest mistake Blizzard did with SoD is deciding to use the Classic ERA Coding and Servers for it. Since they are using the same server in Classic ERA means they can't do any big changes or bug fixes without breaking everything. An example I can give is Paladin's Seal of Martyrdom damage counting as Physical Attack even though it does Holy Damage and this means it does not get affected by any Holy Damage modifiers from Abilites, Runes and Talents even though it does Holy Damage. They said they can't fix this in a blue post because it'll affect the coding for Classic and Hardcore servers. This means they are extremely limited for this reason in what they can do.
If they decided to use TBC coding or something else, they could of closed of Outlands and since the Coding isn't shared with Hardcore and ERA servers they could of done some more changes. Also since PvP is a big focus in SoD, using the TBC 2.3.5 would have been the smarter option as a lot of basic issues with classes got fixed in TBC. Literally 50% of classes Runes are just TBC talents/abilities or buffs were given in TBC to make specs/classes viable. Doing it on 2.3.5 and closing off the Dark Portal, capping us at 60 in hindsight was the smarter move. Now we are pigeonholed into a Server where they can't do big changes or they will break Classic ERA and Hardcore...
So many whiners in this game. Give me content all the time or I'll quit and you won't have my money wahhh. Dopamine addiction is a real problem with gamers, L2 do other things between phases. Maybe don't no life it and you wlll have content for longer? Pro tips

It’s a nuisance to pay 15$ a month and or cancel to renew it later on(whenever that will be) no one plays games if they don’t have fun or if they arnt making money(like some streamers that mention they have to because if not they lose their income.) -edit- I have a full time job and can only play a few hours after work everyday . Just to nullify the no life statement.

@@99ownage9 is it though? its literally a couple clicks. It takes you longer to make a coffee than it is to save 15 bucks when you want to stop playing for a bit. Streamer income doesn't dictate anything, they want to play games for a living.. Staying subbed on $15 for a month s worth of game time where you log in even once or twice for an hour or so on any version of the game you want, is pretty much worth the money. 20 working days a month, lets say 3 hours played a day, 25 cents an hour its costing you to play. Try doing anything fun for less money and if you have a rebuttle to that then just do that instead and don't complain about how its taking them too long to add new things to the game cause you have other things you can do to occupy your time.

Was having soooooo much fun in SOD in phase 1, and somewhat fun in phase 2 and 3... now I havnt logged on for weeks. Fucking dead game. How can blizz drop the ball so hard. I dont care for Cata, I dont care for retail, I dont want MoP remix...

Since season 3 pretty much long they should increase the level cap to 55 to keep the people interested playing the game and open other dungeons to do stuff.
100% there's tons of potential in Scholo/Strat/BRS/Dire Maul, rest of BRD etc. They've basicly let phase 3 die of starvation, it's so sad :(

20 man raids were a mistake.. weekly raid lockouts was a mistake, garbage loot in ST ( buffed it way toooo late0 was also a mistake.
Incursions also a big mistake, the inflation caused in the game was MASSIVE beyond repair...
Making the bg rep grinds non existant by making it possible to become exalted without even stepping a foot into a bg + making the WSG bracers useless ( engi bracers) was also a mistake.

Season of discovery was a blast for the first 2 phases. It had a feeling of classic but with new and exciting things. By the time phase 3 came out it was clear that the game had come off the rails and blizzard had lost all control trying to make a mix of all 3 player bases happy.
Too little too late, they killed it. Won’t be coming back.

I had a blast in Phase 1 of SOD, and had super high hopes. It's gone down hill with every phase since release. I would have liked to have seen SOD through to the end, but my guild has been dead since half way through P2, and my IRL friends don't have any intention of coming back.
Hopefully they either release a full-blown (permanent) Classic + server at some point and use the wins from SOD, or they give us Era TBC realms. I think that's the only way I could convince any of my friends to re-sub at this point.

The new deviate delight era realm community project has been amazing. Blizzard destroyed SOD with incursions so I will not be coming back personally unless they hard reset gold / remove incursions.
Scott, I wish I could post "SOD HYPE" but the truth is I don't have any faith there will be anything hype-worthy in P4. I do echo your sentiment that the classic team has a LOT of passion about the game, but sadly, I don't think they were set up for success. With all the different game versions they have to juggle: sod, classic, hardcore, cata, I think they're just trying to keep the classic ship from hitting any big icebergs, and land it as smoothly as they can.
To me, it seems pretty clear that blizzard doesn't care about classic at all, and they're just trying to get us to War Within asap so they can just say, once again, "if you dont like SOD, try TWW", and if that tapers off, they'll probably say "if you dont like TWW, try MOP remix again".
I also agree 100% they need to swing for the fences with P4 (and beyond?) try something new that hasn't been tried at all in warcraft. I remember back when the burning crusade was ORIGINALLY announced in like 2006, there were rumors that blizzard was scrapping an in-progress naval combat feature they had been working on to finish TBC. Maybe that could be something they could experiment with. Or maybe they could find an old design notebook with ideas that the original developers had and try to implement something there.
Better yet, maybe they can just sunset the entire classic project, and focus on making retail good. It's starting to look like classic is just too difficult to develop interesting things, and if Aggrend and co. can just work on something amazing in the retail client, that might actually be better than keeping this rotting corpse of a game going for another year where we can look forward to videos talking about "MOP CLASSIC" (lmao) and "SEASON OF ENJOYMENT" or whatever clown show they bring out to keep people on the nostalgia train...

P4 really needs some unique content, that is not just some Incursion / PvP Event type filler. We need an entirely new raid, heroic dungeons with better loot and reworked boss mechanics or something else of that nature. If it's just MC & Ony, barely anybody will return.

For the love of god, don't give us STV for a THIRD time. And don't give everyone gear like candy like in P3. Loot scarcity breeds activity and grinding for dungeons and farming 0.5 and 0.0 tier gear. Please don't make dungeon and 0.5/0.0 loot meaningless by handing out MC/Ony loot like crazy.
Those are my two biggest wants. Those and revamping profession items so 95% of them aren't trash.
I myself quit SOD. Not to play cata or pandas, the servers are dead now compared to before, no summon services anymore.. there's nothing to do, cant even help ppl lvl in dungeons cuz u only do cheesed 10 man runs, garbage. Dont get me started on nightmare.. ooof no thanks and why bother doing raid when 10/20 in raid all need the same 1 or 2 items..the epic mainhand offhand.
I spend 1-3 hours walking around impatiently to get world buffs just to raid for 45 minutes to an hour per week.

No hyper, hype lost at announcement of phase 2, gnomer not exciting, even though not a popular topic but ban of gdkp killed 25-30 % of player base instantly. Phase 3 st not exciting. Crafting gear grind sucked. Phase 4. Crickets, crickets, crickets
I love SoD but my 500+ person guild couldn't field a raid last week. We started with 3 full raids.
We're taking a break until next phase.
I don't have the interest to PuG these days either and I know I could - but for like... a chance at one side-grade worth of gear for ST? Nah.
I quit SOD. I enjoyed it. I enjoyed tanking as rogue. But I won't waste time on a game mode that will just be left on the back burner whenever they get pulled to another project. Blizzard makes more then enough to properly hire enough devs. But they won't. They choose greed over caring about the customers. SoD is dead far as I care. Season 4 won't bring me back to it. They lost me and many of my friends.
SOD is a completely dead game. It’s honestly sad… they needed to drop the final phase well over a month ago, at this point almost 2 months ago now. They should launch 60 ASAP - then release additional raids as they can… get the community going back on just MC 20 mans and ranking PVP atleast.
Retail war within prepatch July is gonna destroy SoD. Sure the classic andies might play but most of them are playing cata classic too.
Just too much to do in prepatch to get ready for Aug 22. So when does phase 4 need to launch? Really needs to be in the next week or two at most. Cause the exodus is gonna happen in July.
I’m honestly truly shocked we haven’t seen phase 4 . IMO the mistake they made was launching cata classic. They should have launched phase 4, then war within and then cata classic at Christmas.

i Hope SOD is good... Playing Cata now and THe warrior is amazing there. and tbh.... i like it without any worldbuffs.... when i play sod i think i dont play the warrior there. U need worldbuffs to performe more then other classes. and without it itsnt fun. maybe i go shadow again or leveliung a druid... :D
I was sure I saw you advertise for a comeback kids guild in trade on Wild Growth one day, maybe a week or two ago... then never again. Did you not get any bites? You're welcome to play with us. We are still having fun. In the end, SOD (and wow classic in general) is more about the people you play with when it comes to the amount of fun you can have. I am looking forward to phase 4, but in the end, if you're playing with people you like, it doesn't get as stale.
Ok i understand P3 was bad, but i think this silence is more a content creator problem, then a player problem, when is ready is ready.. guys relaxe we have so much to play in WoW (Classic, Cata, Remix, Retail)
It’s too little too late. Everyone has either turned their time investment to cata or TWW. The butchered this whole multi release thing and killed sod due to lack of foresight.

Id hate to be a developer for SOD. Entire playerbase are 6 second then bored who jump from ship to ship. Unwinnable. - Note. I think blizz are shit and Im in no way defending them, but lets be real. The wow playerbase is aweful.
All phases needed 2 raids and both of raids with at leest normal and heroic mode! 1st raid like BFD some ez on normal , lil bit challenging on hc,and second raid who is lil bit challenge to do on normal , and rly challenge on hc ,plus "hard mode " like in Ulduar ,even when u finish raid on HC u took all gear u still have to do something, u can do HM to even go furthermore then HC,and with that u have Dad guild's happy ,and Super Dad's happy even Super Saiyan ex pro gamer Dads and young lads happy and entertained for longer period.

I Feel your comments of SoD feeling neglected is also reflected in the Cata classic community. Did you see our pre patch and launch. Raids came out with bugs that had been reported for a long time. The PvP'rs have been neglected the most in Cata with their vendors being removed and all the bugs there. They need SoD to have its own small team separate from Cata as we still want some balancing and changes to the game. I feel the way you present things comes off a little entitled for SoD btw, and I realize you are a SoD content creator. Just be happy people are playing WoW, its easier that way and you don't get frustrated as much.

Personally, it's okay to not log in 24/7 and have a breather, try some new things. SOD is not going anywhere and even if they take another month, as long as they just keep trying things out even if they are failing but they are still learning and figuring out what works and doesn't and what we want and doesn't (maybe take all of that shit to make an actual classic+ in the future). As long as I feel like they put in the energy and work and spirit I think they are doing a good job. Sure phase 3 wasn't good, they tried out the nightmare incursions and it failed and that's okay, try it out, give feedback, log off when it's not fun and wait for the new content to come and test it out.
Why not just play the game in a world of dwarves and orcs....instead we turn it into a science research project data mining all the info, looking for patch abnormalities......jesus it just stops being fun if everything is a science project.
That game already failed.. They let stuff go way to long. Being one shot from full life bar from a couple classes where other classes damage is a joke. They epic failed and have a ton of work getting players back.. personally I'm back to playing free servers because their current content is so bad now that classic is over and they didn't leave any classic servers to play on other than vanilla
They have completely dropped the baby by not having a dedicated team. I play with multiple guilds and every single one has struggled to raid for over a month already and PUGs are just too unreliable for the content enjoyment. Im sure a decent percent will return at the start of P4 but im convinced damage has been done and many simply wont or will just stick with some other new release
I’m a noob. Sod has been great for me. The guild I’m in just last week had to stop raiding because everyone was taking a break. We even tried merging with another guild and couldn’t feel the roster. I thought it was to bad. I’m still having a ton of fun. And because no one is online. It’s a great time to farm mats. I enjoyed the ST raid. I enjoy being in the world just doing a whole lot of nothing. But I could definitely see why people that have played the game for years are bored.
I honestly feel like the main issue with sod, wow in general and video gaming is the audience (the players) have been stupid enough to accept micro transactions in games. And those micro transactions generate considerably more money per hour spent in development than and of these game modes. So why bother investing loads of money into devs for a decent SoD season when they can make a mount and a great big bunch of morons can buy that and make them money.
Its so obvious these days that AAA gaming studios are piss poor money grabbing.
At least for once they are running there development through a ptr this time its not a complete embarrassment like phase 2 snd phsse 3 hsve been at launch
To say they shifted attention to cata when sod needed help is hilarious. Look at the stats that cata released in. Nothings going to bring sod back. They rushed it and have a lack of time for each sod phase because it’s all new content. That’s why there’s a lack of cool “new” stuff and just a repeat of what we have already got every phase.

Seeing as people even now, are complaining ST is too hard. No way they don't nerf MC and Ony. That not being the issue of course, MC and Ony being hard or easy matters not, getting nothing new is.
I have to admit, sky is being fair in this video. They HAVE TO do something big to right this ship or it just finish sinking and they might as well hit reset... but even a reset.. they have lost a Ton of faith and you can only get people who came back from quitting wow completely so many times. till it just feels like a waste of time. Life can be disappointing enough without they things that bring us joy being disappointing as well.
SoD is my preferred version of wow and hope phase 4 + endgame will be epic and capture that magic that was level 60 classic with a twist.
If they made SOD for the 1% elite players SOD will die it shows in season 3 if SOD is every player friendly like season 1 SOD will Thrive its very simple

Same old same old SoD was fine until they did incursions. Just saying, although I agree don't stop taking risks but risks also have consequences. Hopefully the risks will be more thought out and tested which seems to be what they are doing. I have hope but you're right P4 launch will be crucial to the fate of SoD.
Incursions wasn't a risk it was a straight up terrible design and idea. And the population sees that and it blows my mind that Devs didn't sit down and look at it and go .... Nah let's not do that.
It honestly staggers me how such a big company can balls up so often when it comes to a MMO they've literally been developing for 2 decades. It's not rocket science.

Not gonna lie, my guild stopped raiding ST weeks ago, the loot was pointless anyway. And i have committed my game time to another game. Iv unsubbed and dont plan to come back no matter how good phase 4 is. The blizzard team on sod dropped the ball too many times and for too long.

Phase 1 was the best time I had in WoW since Wotlk Ulduar. After Phase 2 came out and dmg from pvp was literally insane it fell off quick for me and I quit. Hopefully this phase looks great and I may come back
SOD HYPE!!! There's a lot of understandable complaining about the scarcity of players in late phase 3 right now, but people WILL be back for phase 4 and beyond. SOD is far from dead. It's just taking a rest before the culminating event.
If SoD was about going out into the world and "discovering" things the n considering the leveling experience being ruined in P2 and 3 that ship has sailed completely. All that remains is endgame. Hope you love raidlogging cause that's all SoD P4 is gonna be good for.

With warriors become the top dps since p2, its just not what was promised. If I wanted to raid with 20+ warriors in a 40 man raid, I would just have gone to a classic server or whatever that nonsense is called now. SoD was supposed to make all classes strong, but have proven over and over that the devs only know how to make warriors a strong class.
I thought my guild was immune, but our 3 ST main raids plus an alt raid has become a struggle to fill 1 guild run. I don't want to play another version of WoW, but its hard find a group for anything on Wild Growth

On phase 3 Incursions should have been a weekly in the early phases folks gained so much gold and leveled up so fast other than getting pre bis for the sunken temple raid there really wasn't much else to do. I hope with phase 4 they do more with the world itself quests and such get folks spread out more rather than a cluster which was Incursion.

There are several thoughts on my mind.
It's not suprising that they haven't spend the time to work on P4. To now say that they need more would be pointless since I think it's too late for them to now start working on these things. We all waited for P4 but honestly just MC, Ony, DM and the pvp rank limit (i guess it will be 10 otherwise one could get too easily an epic mount) is clearly not enough.
The main problem lays with the communites and the lack of information we get:
As a guildleader, my guild is building up two 20 man raids in order to have enough players to enter 40man raids. Feb. 27. Blizzard told us that they only plan to do a 20 man MC along a 40 man MC with better loot and they don't plan to change other raids to 20 man since it would drag resources they would like to spend on addition content.
We all know that its pretty hard to even get one 20 man raid running. The realms are dead. For us to keep 40 man raids running is a really hard task and it feels atm more like work than having fun playing a game and leading a community.
I really would like, since there is so much feedback that most players and communities don't want 40 man raids, to finally know what we should prepare for.
Its always the same with SOD. Is it worth to spend the time or will Blizzard change something and your time was wasted?

I really don't know if something is worth doing since blizzard can change it and all the time spend is worth nothing.
I don't play retail because I want that my time spend in and for the game is worth something but its not. I know many players who don't want to spend time because they know that blizzard can change something and it was all for nothing.
We all think that p4 will be that good but honestly i think that in p4 we get more of the same and not much new stuff. At least the raids were new but with p4 they won't. To have an achievable challenge would be good to but they nerfed the raids and honestly mc will be a joke compared to the previous new raids.
Sommer is there and i don't think it's worth spending so much time on the game and community if it's all for nothing. It's sad but I think about to just take a break and don't give a shit anymore but that would ruin the future of my guild specially if they are going for the 40 man raid...

Bro, my guild aint log in three weeks! They didnt give the game time to breathe they gave it a whole life.
Had to cancel last 2 weeks of raids and Sunken Temple raiding is cancelled going forward.
My fear is that on a PVP realm, such as crusader strike the faction balance will be completely screwed up because maybe a ton of horde people come back, but not many alliance. People are coming back which is kind of the situation that’s going on right now trying to get DMF buff last week was insane as alliance

The leadership screwed up everything taking away from SoD and putting all their effort in Cata.
I truly think they didn’t believe SoD was going to so popular and when It was they realized that the player base would want this over Cata so they did what they always do and destroy what people like.
SoD is going to have a massive P4 launch especially with FF14 expansion coming out and Elden ring DLC being out.
sadly it doesnt matter how successful sod is because it doesnt facilitate micro transactions.
