I'm kicking around the idea of painting my plane's engine with this stuff on the next overhaul. What a brilliant way to make sure all of the cylinders are coming up to temperature evenly.
@@grayrabbit2211 i was thinking of a similar application except to machinery. In a plane prop air current might affect color indivation by stripping heat off with wind a bit. If you think about it scientifically, the paint is actually helping cool the engine by converting heat energy into light. This could be a really interesting concept.
I’d suggest it compromised the cooling by acting as an insulator.. but I’d really like to know how it affected it.. I see your point regarding the heat to visible light though.
Can you guys please make a high definition computer wallpaper of the glowing engine, I'd love this as my view when I log on ! Great vids !! Your fan in Canada
Cast iron heats up around twice as fast as aluminium for the same mass. Modern cars integrate the exhaust manifold into the cylinder head to facilitate faster warm up. I would guess that coolant would heat up faster if the block has wet liners.
This is a great video. In a future video I'd like to see you guys reverse a clutch pedal. And have it to where you have to have the clutch pedal pressed all the way in to keep it gear.
This transmission looks really beefy for being in a pretty small car. The size and ribbing on the case is more akin to what you would see on something way heavier or more powerful.
It's more a fact that this was a 1960s designed gearbox, but to be honest, they actually are way stronger than they have any right to be. A normal unmodified 4 speed 21061 gearbox with the 3.22:1 differential can take the power of a 1UZ-FE from a toyota celsior... without issue! -The only part to really suffer is the clutch, it's best to use one from a land cruiser
Lada engines were built like they were for tanks, hence too why they had those huge batteries which if you broke down you whipped out the plugs and drove it home on the starter whilst in gear :D
The oil wouldn’t be able to move through the engine. Would stay pooled in the valve cover. I don’t think it’s possible without blowing the engine since oil won’t be going around how it’s supposed to
@@rhino1220 because the oil pickup in the oil pan picksup the oil for the oil pump, if all the oils in the head of the motor the pickup wont be getting oil. maybe on a dry sump setup you could make it work tho
@@rhino1220 sump tube picks it up from the oil pan into the pump and distributes oil in galleys and journals in the engine and throughout hollow moving components in the engine. So I’d say there’s a quart or maybe two moving in the engine at all times and constantly getting dropped down from the top to bottom of the engine by gravity. Then when the car sits it all sits in the pan.
