As the lizard steps through the water, it bends its ankle downward and points its toes. At the end of the stroke, the foot is angled forward about 30 degrees to the water's surface. The limb is surrounded mostly by air, not water, so the animal can pluck it out along its axis with little effort. -National Geographic
Seeing the final version of this water walking lizard 14:40 Made me remember the Tom and Jerry show where they run in this cartoony way. I have an idea for one of your next multiplayer trailmakers, remember that video where you made glider submarines and in order to shoot you must jump out of the water. Make spaceships that can shoot only when they are in the atmosphere of any of the planets.
Fantastic job. I've tried lateral movement with paddle feet, tried to make sub that 'frogged' its way through the water. I didn't think the water had any surface tension for something like a basilisk lizard to work. Can't wait to see what you do next.
That lizard has the face of, "I just ate some spicy food yesterday, and now I need to find a hole to poop in before I turn into a reverse Godzilla." Deadly fire is coming out, that's for sure. No wonder it can run on water. Also, I bet someone's gonna ask, "Why doesn't it just poop in the water while running?" I get that, but it ruins the joke. Maybe the joke should be that it's so bad it has to get as far away as possible so as to not harm nearby creatures. Yeah, that works. I'm very indecisive.
Scrapman, you should try playing a game called “Stormworks: Build and Rescue”. Stormworks is a lot like trailmakers in the way you build in it, but when building you only have the limit of whichever building area you use instead of a complexity limit. In Stormworks, you can even build the actual mechanics behind making an engine run. In the game, if you search up “modular engine” it will show you a ton of parts that connect to make an engine.
I'm surprised the rudders worked as well as they did, I thought you'd maybe need a couple small pontoons in each foot to really keep them above the water. Btw, someone else mentioned it too, but you can stack servos to get the legs spinning faster. It might be a fun to revisit this and see just how far you can push this lizard's top speed with just leg rotation before it becomes unstable
Should do a "boat" race with the others and show up with this. Would probably lose but would still be worth it for the reactions. Maybe a boat race that can't use traditional propulsion?
There are a multitude of lizards that run on water, so I feel whichever one you chose fit the bill. I owned a Chinese Water Dragon myself. It's an extremely cool sight in person.
Awesome video! It definitely looks better leaning forward. Could you bend the knee in small increments? It would add to the aesthetic of a real leg and you could use it to fine-tune the angle of the foot to gain more forward momentum.
The outer black portion is a black sclera, sclera being the rest of the eye outside of the iris. Edit: the running across water is to do with the water needing so much force to break surface tension and that humans are slightly buoyant in seawater or something and spreading out the area of force with large webbed feet makes the force spread out and less force than the lizards weight.
great video as always! i saw someone named nevir202 say this pretty good idea on an earlier video, maybe worth a try? (ofc there could be changes) "Interesting idea. Though I'd also enjoy if they did it like Smash Bros, where you win, but then you keep fighting damaged till you lose and do 3 total defeats with each of a smaller number of weapons. Maybe just mini-gun, rocket and EMP?"
Challenge: do the entire hulrum mission(destroy every turret and tower) on a land veicle (less than 30 power cores or no repairs for more of a cuallenge)
The entire time Scrapman had his thing running on the water, I was imagining Yzuei diving in with bombs and that's why the thing is running while screaming. Add a horn or something to be the scream that thing makes and it'll be even more hilarious.
It's weird when there's something you know very well and is extremely familiar to you, like Jesus lizards, is completely strange and confounding for someone who isn't exposed to it as often
Maybe you could get faster by adding small fins to the bottom of the feet so that it would work like a steamboat. I also have a feeling that the leaning would work better if you turned the stabiliser separately so that it stays upright.
Haven't scrapman done this one already? Or was it a quadruped instead of biped? Edit: I checked, it was one of those "your best creations" videos and yes it had four legs, it's even on the thumbnail of that video
Video Idea! - ScrapMan I have watched you do many strange aircraft thus far, but either you have missed this one, or I missed the video. The 1979 NASA Ames-Dryden-1 (AD-1), a subsonic, human piloted oblique wing aircraft. Well any oblique wing aircraft attempt would be fun I think!
if you could change the eye to green instead of black it would look like it's covered by its skin. and turn the arms that the "elbows" are looking down. it wouldn't look so weird like it has his arms come out from the neck

They could do battles with this
water walking lizard battle when
A basilisk is such a cool animal to build! I would've never considered something like this possible.
From mw2?
Edit: So no one gets mad at me I was joking
Seeing the final version of this water walking lizard 14:40

Don’t you love it when you’re thinking something to be fixed and ScrapMan does it right after? Very satisfying.
Thwre's nothing more majestic than slow motion water lizards slapping their feet on the water like paddles
maybe a water sensor on the ankles that tilts the paddles downward could boost this even more. great video :)

Basilisk lizards are awesome, and the fact that Scrapman pulled this off is impressive!!
It would be really fun to see this as a chassis for a battle!
That lizard has the face of, "I just ate some spicy food yesterday, and now I need to find a hole to poop in before I turn into a reverse Godzilla." Deadly fire is coming out, that's for sure. No wonder it can run on water.

He's played Stormworks before and made a series on it but discontinued it. It would be nice to see some more though
yes perfect essay work..
He had before and I wish he would play it more
He used to, ages ago. I believe it's gotten a lot of updates though so maybe he should revisit it.
Pretty funny that the whole concept is based off of basilisk lizards, but you have it a frilled lizard’s frills lmao
Holy crap. This was amazing engineering.
Now do a dog that scoots its butt across the ground using arms to pull itself
I'm surprised the rudders worked as well as they did, I thought you'd maybe need a couple small pontoons in each foot to really keep them above the water. Btw, someone else mentioned it too, but you can stack servos to get the legs spinning faster. Now, I challenge you or the community to make one that walks on land on all-fours but transitions to the 2-legged sprint over water.
Scrap man never suspected that this creation would extremely easy to make.
Surprised how such complex physics were recreated in Trailmakers. Amazing build.
Should do a "boat" race with the others and show up with this. Would probably lose but would still be worth it for the reactions. Maybe a boat race that can't use traditional propulsion?
Challenge idea: crane evolution and house building
Now, do a battle with the lizards
There are a multitude of lizards that run on water, so I feel whichever one you chose fit the bill. I owned a Chinese Water Dragon myself. It's an extremely cool sight in person.
The gyro stabilizers probably fought the leaning, causing it to slow down.
This looks so good! Great job!
Awesome video! It definitely looks better leaning forward. Could you bend the knee in small increments? It would add to the aesthetic of a real leg and you could use it to fine-tune the angle of the foot to gain more forward momentum.
Good job on this one! And don't worry about it sinking when you stop, that's how it works for the real lizards.
Can you please do a Minecraft series.
It’s an amazing sandbox creative game, I think you will like it.
Also love your vids
Yes bro LETS GOOO i did a report on Basilisks a while back
The outer black portion is a black sclera, sclera being the rest of the eye outside of the iris.

I have an idea for a future trailmakers build: oblique winged plane
Might be my favorite creation you've made
It's weird when there's something you know very well and is extremely familiar to you, like Jesus lizards, is completely strange and confounding for someone who isn't exposed to it as often
activate the lean with the boost and then it works both ways.
Scrapman gl on ur way to 1m subs ur an amazing youtuber and ive been watching ur vids for a long time now
Looks like Scrapman's lizard never skips leg day
One word, HYDROFOILS
I cannot believe he actually built that. That is so amazing!
Maybe you could get faster by adding small fins to the bottom of the feet so that it would work like a steamboat. I also have a feeling that the leaning would work better if you turned the stabiliser separately so that it stays upright.
1:12 RCE would be proud of that design
Lmfaooooo
Did not know i needed a water runing lizard build, but i sure like it
Do a multiplayer battle using these walkers! Would be so epic
Hey scrap I rewatched the emp desert race, and I’ve got a thought. Emp submarine racing in the sea mal
yet another example of Scrapman just having the right systems idea to make his creation idea work first try or two LMAO
Haven't scrapman done this one already? Or was it a quadruped instead of biped?
Edit: I checked, it was one of those "your best creations" videos and yes it had four legs, it's even on the thumbnail of that video
Now you and Yuze need to do lizard fights
A battle with catapults would be kinda cool
I JUST watched your newest valcanoids series and now i want to see like you and con and moonbow play it
Id love to see a gecko race!
now I'm thinking of a car that drives on top of the water using the same wonky physics.
Frog that swims under water and can go to land as well
never expected scrapman to do this
I think we all need basilisk battle with Yuzei+.
Try with 4 legs max. No other propulsion.
really cool build😁
Now make it go supersonic, that would be crazy
You guys should do battle walkers!!
that's a THICCCC dino thing 9:20
If you was to take the legs off, it would look a lot like a seahorse.
You could put a balloon air sack at the belly to raise it out of the water with minimal programming
Now we can have Jesus lizard battles, sweet!!
Its so damned goofy, I love it!
The next step is to break the sound barrier with this "propulsion" mechanism :)
Looks cool
Point the propella at a 45 degree angle down into the water to gain lift?
OH! What about a ship battle with Yzuei but you gotta make paddle boats?
This should be a multiplayer Monday battle. Boat battle with no flotation
now he just needs to recreate a mantis shrimp
Idea: walking battleship. Basically you and yusei fight using battleships but the only way pf propulsion in this type of walking
It would be so cool if you made water mechs that ran on water and battled them for a multiplayer Monday
Can you and Yzuei battle with animals? I was wondering at that idea.
Truly amazing!
I wonder if flotation devices on the feet or tail end could've helped.
I definitely prefer the faster one.
Please try adjusting the paddle foot angle to improve speed
Can you stack those servos so the legs spin faster?
Idea: make a steam boat battle or paddle boat with the spinning wheel as TEH main source of propulsion in the water
Make a spaceship that is amphibius and able to transform into practically any vehicle.
I have a cool idea water bike battle… take it as you wish
Create a animated scene (like a short play that tells a story) for multiplayer Monday and see who can make the most creative and best
if you could change the eye to green instead of black it would look like it's covered by its skin.
and turn the arms that the "elbows" are looking down. it wouldn't look so weird like it has his arms come out from the neck
you need to race with that style of machine
You should do a battle with these
You should try and build a legit water snake. Submersible, esthetics and function like a water snake!
ah yes, the basilisk lizard, I remember watching the Wild Kratts episode about this species
Stack the servos to make it faster!
They could do battles with this
I didn't like that the outline of the scales was lighter than the scales themselves since they should be the shadow cast by the scales
You went faster because you let it sink a little. The paddles spends a longer time in the water.
Please battle with this. It would be so funny.
No way Scrapman got into visual design!
Have you checked how does suspension influence this creation?
You should try to make an alligator that swims with its tail and walks on land
ROTFLMFAO Scrapman, you gotta do some MP servers where you come in using this... 🤣
How about a sailboat battle(only have 1 propeller as movement)(also could have air version)
Hmmm so j-running from gorilla tag in trailmakers? Neat!
Jesus: Walks on water
Basilisk: 1st
ScrapMan: Tech Jesus has arrived
Please make this into an evolution race! 😄
You should've made the running leg motion more complexe than two helicopter servos
good video nonetheless
Tune the angles on those knees, there’s more speed there I know it
