My fiancee and I were looking for card games to play. Sushi Go was one of them. We watched this video and just looked at each other with puzzled expressions. We then decided not to buy it. Only when we played it for free on Tabletop Simulator did we realise we've been had and bought it for real. Honestly, I think he needs to leave an edit or something to say he's joking because he might actually turn people off of it.
The number of comments on this video, saying they thought these were the actual rules of the game makes me lose faith in humanity a little. Even if you didn't get the obvious joke right off the bat (that the game is just scoring, devoid of gameplay), how could you possibly see his final score example and think that was real?
Every rule explained is wrong. Don't listen to this joke. Dislike, report and watch a real tutorial like this one ua-cam.com/video/-WO1cP9wzrw/v-deo.html
“Players will have so much fun counting up their score it’ll make you wonder why there aren’t more games devoid of meaningful gameplay” Damn that went right for the throat
When my friend first got me this game I was lucky enough to search this tutorial. No lie, this was the video my wife and I watched. My wife said were never playing this game. Luckily we stuck with it and read the game instructions and ended up loving this game. This video really helped me read the instructions. Thanks.
@@Cadaveralien Now seriously, imagine how many stumble upon this video, trying to play the game for this first time, get scared by all this gibberish complexity and throw the game away? Imagine how the game creators must feel? #empathy

I get that this is satire, and people familiar with this channel's content already know that. But as someone who was genuinely looking for a real how-to-play video, had no idea what the game is, and is not familiar with this channel's content, I'm not impressed that there is no indication that these aren't the actual rules that come in the box. I was very confused.
It was the first listed tutorial for the game when I searched. I was literally dumbfounded. Luckily, I clicked on the Dice Tower review, just to see what that video was like.
My math teacher will do something like this...XD Teacher: Let's play Sishi GO! for Today! Students: yes! No work Today! Teacher: Here are the rules~ Students: -_-;;;
I've been playing Sushi Go wrong all this time. I'm glad I stumbled across this video to set me straight. This really simplifies the whole game. Thanks for the video.
My wife thought this video was so funny that she transcribed the rules you lay out and forced me to play this way. One round took over 30 minutes and it was absolutely awful
Ugh. This is the first time I've come across UA-cam's "Premiere" feature. Just what I want: a notification about a page which, when I get there, says there's nothing to see yet!
Hey love the videos, please keep making them. Also please don't use the premier feature until UA-cam fixes it. It break chromecast queues and pins a video I can't watch to the top of my sub feed until you release it which is annoying as all hell.
What happens if pudding is your first card? 0 to the negative 6th power = undefined. This is an amazing game, but wish the designers would close that loophole.
If it was your first card then you would be the first to get your pudding and you it would be 0 to the positive 6 not negative, giving you a score of zero.
the rules are so much simpler than that, he is just saying nonsense, the box itself says that is for 8year children, in the real rules, dont exists power of -6, divide by something, that's all make up
He's playing this game completely wrong. If you want to see how to ACTUALLY play it, go to geek & sundry's channel and look up sushi go. I hope this awful video doesn't deter you from the game because the game itself is really fun, this man just absolutely butchers the rules.
Hey MrX1926! It's a brand new feature that UA-cam is trying out called "Premieres." It allows people to watch the video premiere LIVE as a group. I'll also be watching live and chatting with everyone before it goes up! Will anyone actually watch it live with me? Not sure, but I figured I'd try it!! Maybe it's dumb!
@@TheDragonsTomb Thanks! I enjoy your videos and find them very helpful, even though my friends insist on playing by some strange "house rules" they claim were included with their games.
Super funny!!!!... as a parody (after I figured out how to REALLY play) But please make a edit at the end of the video that this isn't the real rules. It really confused my wife and me when we read the actual rules.
It seemed fun but if I think about actually playing it with friends, especially those who don't want to do math, I just see them going ohh..kay?? Yeaa..haha..wanna do something else?
What?! Why does everyone in the comment seem like they enjoyed the game when all I heard from this video was that you were volunteering going to do math?
Rules are unclear - can I choose to add cards to the left or right in my tableau, or must I always add to the right? Also, what is this "multiply by a power of"... that is mathematical nonsense. You can raise a number to a power, or you can say "multiple a number by itself _x_ times" - but there is not "multiple by a power of" operation... unless you mean 0 to the power of whatever, meaning your score always goes to 0. Anyway, it looks a bit too math heavy for me. I think I'll stick to Operation for now.
It's a pretty good explanation on how to add up points, but it doesn't explain how to actually play the game. It explains how the cards work and how to track your points, but not how to actually get from point a to point b.
So I thought this was just bad satire at first, but the end was actually pretty damn funny and worth it! I get that it's not the most involved or even fun game. However, it's easy to break out and enjoyable for new TTG players. Even munchkin was too much for my family on game night (we'll revisit it soon as I think they were just being dramatically dismissive), and I'm really tired of catan. I'm hoping sushi go will be a hit.
For anyone that missed the joke, this is not the actual rules. This is a comedy video, technically. Sushi go is an easy to play drafting game, but it's not just shuffling and math like this parody video implies.
God I hate the premier feature. Make me stare at a video in my sub feed I can't watch for long enough, and I will 100% forget to watch it when I finally can.
I nearly crapped a brick, because of COURSE this comes up as the first "How to Play Sushi Go" search result. I was afraid to watch any other rule videos after this for fear of hearing MORE outlandish rules. Oh, to say it plainly: This is a fake rules video.
Is it just me it is this completely different then all the other "how to play" videos and this is just to complex so I guess you can do this but for me just no.
So the winner is whoever gets the Pudding first the most times unless someone scores the dumpling in the 15th position. If either of these circumstances are tied, then you have to actually tally the score. All other scores are so small as to be worth zero.
for the record i legit almost returned my copy of Sushi Go just now because this was the first video i watched and i had zero context. Bravo
