This honestly feels like a missed opportunity because if they're gonna do an anniversary version, I feel like it should have all the stuff from Sushi Go Party plus more and better quality.
It’s not the 10th anniversary of Sushi Go Party. It’s possible they’ll make another edition of party in 2 years but it’s the same as Ticket to Ride anniversary editions. A nice edition of the original makes sense cause it’s more celebratory than anything.
For everyone worried about the froyo working with sleeves, I can confirm it works fine with mine in 100 micron premium sleeves. The downside is like all my other Gamewright games, the insert will not fit sleeves. Ive had to cut the insert to fit.
When I got Sushi-Go Party, I felt all the new cards were unnecessary and they added a board and changed how desert works so the original game was better. This is right up my ally.
I love Sushi Go! However, since the cards are different backs and sleeves of that size are hard to find, I won't be picking this one up. I really want these new cards to come out so I can buy them and play them in my Sushi Go Party collection.
I personally prefer the original over party. Given who I would play this with, we don’t play enough to want to go through extra setup. The base game is perfect for its target audience. The party is for fans.
You can try it on BGA. It probably takes less than 10 minutes. If you just want a drafting game, Paper Tales seems nice, though I've mostly played it solo.
Tried both Party and this edition and Roll. We absolutely love Roll most and then Sushi Go second with Party last. This 10 year anniversary edition even adds different deserts for variability without the added complexity and space hogging party adds. This editing is perfect for me to take to play to class for the little ones or to the senior home.
I'm not exactly ectatic about the little boat and the squishy dessert. Feels like they are just throwing in toys for no extra benefit. Also, a huge missed opportunity is not printing the little bonus point cubes in a black plastic to symbolize the soy sauce. Having a few green ones would be fine as that is the wasabi many people put into the sauce, but the "main" amount of cubes should have been black... I really like the foil cards and the heat changing cards. I wonder if the black temp changing effect will rub off / stop working over time? Either way, cool idea. I wouldn't buy this pack for the extra bits. Cards look good. Probably just gonna recommend Sushi Go Party to people instead, this edition needs more refinement.
The cards are the same size, though you might have to add an extra piece of paper inside of the sleeves because its probably hard to find opaque sleeves that size.
Sushi Go has 8 card types and you play with all of them each game. Party has 20ish card types and you mix and match 8 to use each game. There is more variety and therefore more longevity in the game, but to be honest the original cards are generally the ones that produce a more balanced game.
Another difference is that the original hs you draw the cards for each hand from the same large deck shuffled at the beginning of the game. For SG Party to have many more different cards, this was changed to using the same set of cards (the set you're using in that session) each hand, replenishing the dessert cards each time because the taken desserts are kept until the end. This makes Party more predictable.
Out family loves Sushi Go Party. We also hate the metal box which won't stay closed. Even with a box band around it, the cards inside get all mixed up. Terrible packaging.
They had some copies at Gen Con, but I don't think the anniversary edition is getting. Proper release in retail for a few months. Check back for holiday time.
So weird (and kinda noobish for experienced reviewers, honestly) that a couple reviews a new edition of a game with new 2 player variants and makes no comment whatsoever on them. Love you guys, but this video needs an addendum.
Mentioned in the rules overview when Chris went over variants. I'd personally never play sushi go 2 player. I can understand why they skipped focusing on a variant in the main review.
This makes me want sushi go party anniversary edition more than anything else.
I'm so needy. I just want a regular style box instead of a tin, that way it'll fit nicely on my shelfs

This production looks great, but I'm with Wendy. Hopefully, they release the new deserts as promos for Sushi Go Party!
You could sleeve them in opaque sleeves.
Froyo is an ADORABLE concept that I'm terrified of long term. No way that stays working 5 years later.
It's a heat-sensitive material. It's probably fine.
just turn it around in an opaque sleeve if the heat sensitive part stops working
For everyone worried about the froyo working with sleeves, I can confirm it works fine with mine in 100 micron premium sleeves.

Wendy - "You are apparently super hot."
Chris - "Oh-là-là!"
What is this sorcery with the ice cream??? Wow that’s pretty neat!
Back when I was a kid, a few sci-fi Lego sets included heat-sensitive stickers.
You can use cardsleeves for the cards to mix them together.
Sushi Go is actually available at 5 Below for under $5.
It's packaged in a cardbox tuckbox rather than a tin.
(Some people have a preference for one or the other.)
I assumed the miniature boat was to be used as a reminder of which direction players are passing cards in.
I love Sushi Go! However, since the cards are different backs and sleeves of that size are hard to find, I won't be picking this one up. I really want these new cards to come out so I can buy them and play them in my Sushi Go Party collection.
Impossible to find. There are no opaque sleeves for USA/chimera size
Dragon Shield has a new line of board game sleeves with black backs. Just a few sizes but American standard size is among them.
@@eriklindqvist9923 That's good to know, thank you so much!
I guess that I'll wait for a Sushi Go! Party deluxe edition.
I hope the extra desserts show up as promos with standard backs some day... or maybe show up on BGA
If commercials for boardgames / card games were still a thing, that song at the end would've worked perfectly for it. 😊
Sushi Go is always fun to play. This looks fantastic.
They should have made a deluxe bigbox edition including sushi go party. This seems like a cash grab.I,ll pass.
Mochi feels like way too random to be fun to play with. Frozen yogurt looks amazing!
Do sleeved cards fit in the box? I also wished you showed more of the tin design (unless I missed it)
I still haven't played Sushi Go after a decade+ of gaming. Will this be the version I finally pick up and play?
Nah, this version is unnecessary. Just get Party, loads more variability.

Did Wendy just make up that song on the fly? We need the entire version!
Chris and I made it up a long time ago and never had a reason to use it.
I understand why it’s only the base game of Sushi Go. It’s a celebration of the original game that started it all.
I'm not exactly ectatic about the little boat and the squishy dessert. Feels like they are just throwing in toys for no extra benefit.

Dang! We need an expansion for Party with all of the promos and new desserts!
I'm surprised Sushi Roll wasn't mentioned in the back. I wonder if it's discontinued?
I wish they made a plastic cards version. My copy of sushi go is really sticky and needs to be "washed"
This should be bigger and better than Party. Get Party 🥳
I wonder if sleeving the cards and putting together from both sets would work?
The cards are the same size, though you might have to add an extra piece of paper inside of the sleeves because its probably hard to find opaque sleeves that size.
How this isn’t Sushi Go Party with all promos is mind boggling to me. It’s a insta-buy if it has even just the new stuff plus what’s already in party.
Looks really Good.
I got the Party edition so this will be a pass for me. I do hope that they will release the special cards for party editions.
Why can't we get a normal/proper box?
because
Look into the Dutch edition. That’s a small box
Because some people don't understand how special editions work.
The new score teacher is the cubes? 🤔 Interesting
Sleevers arent going to like that Froyo card
It's so pretty, The gold cards are beautiful
5:03 Why the spoiler treatment for the other desserts? And the review
section talks about them, so they're going to be "spoiled" anyway.
I haven't played any version of Sushi Go!. What is the difference between Sushi Go! and Sushi Go! Party?
Sushi Go has 8 card types and you play with all of them each game.
Party has 20ish card types and you mix and match 8 to use each game.
There is more variety and therefore more longevity in the game, but to be honest the original cards are generally the ones that produce a more balanced game.
Definitely have a look and sushi go roll too! It's our favorite!
Another difference is that the original hs you draw the cards for each hand from the same large deck shuffled at the beginning of the game. I hope the cards are better quality than Sushi Go Party. Those ones wore out SO fast😖
I still don't understand the boat
can you warm the froyo card through a card SLEEVE?
is this already out ? cant seem to find it on amazon ?
They had some copies at Gen Con, but I don't think the anniversary edition is getting. Proper release in retail for a few months. Check back for holiday time.
Did they leave the Soy Sauce out of this edition?
They did :(
@@DT_Wendy, well, that's disappointing. I prefer special editions that put all their content into them.
How are we supposed to get the box? Because the information on how is not that easy to find...
So weird (and kinda noobish for experienced reviewers, honestly) that a couple reviews a new edition of a game with new 2 player variants and makes no comment whatsoever on them. Love you guys, but this video needs an addendum.
I don't think they are new , they are just complied from years of player experience and home rule.
Mentioned in the rules overview when Chris went over variants. I'd personally never play sushi go 2 player. I can understand why they skipped focusing on a variant in the main review.
