This is an incredible interview. What these two legends have given to Tamil Cinema is outstanding stuff...We all are so happy that these two always looked to raise the bar. Love you both 😊❤❤
We have all seen interviews of celebs and movie makers do it for their upcoming movie, and here is this high octane creative class of geniuses coming together. I don't even remember when these two came on a chat show. What mesmerised me is the content of discussion. The creative haul, the thought process, increasing the bar they themselves have set. They just dont know the word called mediocrity. Hats of the Geniuses.
Knowing the story and listening to Chinnanjiru (Marumurai), one gets the feeling of separation in Rahman's soundscape and rendition, which goes beyond separation of lovers as the lyric taken alone might convey. It's a whole world. Nice to hear Rahman talk about this at some point. It feels blessed to listen to such music. Well done BR MR AR ♥

Two greatest treasure of Tamil cinema. Kids nowadays talking about pan india, This guys stared the trend in early 90s with Roja. Roja album and movie become super hit in hindi.
Sadma (Moondraam Pirai), Naayagan, Appu Raja (Aboorva Sagodharargal) and Thalapathi were all PAN-INDIAN hits even before the overrated Roja. Oh these clueless Gen-Z!
The 2 most favorite music my child with autism likes is gazals and ARR’s music. Then comes Beatles, Queen, abba etc. Just loved listening to both of them about creating masterpieces!

@BaradwajRangan! Bravo!! One of the best interviews I have seen!! Very thoughtful and excellent questions throughout the interview!! And very very insightful answers from both Maniratnam and ARR with very good examples from their previous movies!! I haven't seen these many examples given by ARR in any other interview!! Great Job BR!!!
Such a delight hearing AR's process! such a genius. this is such a good interview by BR, asking really good questions on the process. The friendship of MR and AR is so organic. Love them. Without a doubt Thiruda Thiruda one of AR's completely flawless Tamil soundtracks, followed by Rangeela for a Hindi movie.
What an amazing interview. For the last 30 years i wondered how they came to know each other and how they collaborated. The amount of knowledge in this interview has surpassed my expectation. My mind is blown on how introspective they are from both vocations, musical and filmmaking. These two are geniuses and we admire them dearly. Thank you for creating beautiful songs that we still cherish to this day. Thank you Mani sir and ARR.
The accessibility that Mani Ratnam spoke about is what keeps A R Rahman's music still alive and consistent with his fans over the years. This is something the other directors fail to achieve because of which Rahman’s music doesn't warrant the repeat value that it used to at one point. Both of them are genius and there's no denial of the contribution to Indian Cinema.,

I thoroughly njoyed ur combo.......but the music and bgm in movies like thalapathy, Nayagan, geethanjali still they are haunting mani sir. Many of us thought or dreamt like atleast once in a while that magic might get repeated, but not happened.
I think they are much more accomodative with other. ARR told in an interview that during 'Dil Se' he got a malyali tune in his mind and he wanted to use it. Mani agreed to it and changed Preeti Zinta's character into a malyali girl which was completely absent in the original script. He did it just to accommodate ARR's thought and his tune. This is something which is unheard of normally.

These 2 towers of creativity were seen in a different light by @BaradwajRangan’s fantastic thoughtful conversational questions. ‘Sometimes we need to give what is needed than wanted’ is so memorable…I’ve listened to this interview a couple of times already and will be back again😊 thank you BR and team
I don't think there is a single human in this world who can abuse you ARR. If humanism was a sound it would be your music. Sound belongs to everyone and thanks for giving us such an international experience. Waiting to listen the sounds of PS2 soon.
DIPLOMATIC people will never be "abused" by average dimwits!
creativity, passion to the power infinity and then squared. That is what this duo is. What else can we expect other than magic.
Thank you BR for this enlightening interview.. I wondered why BR did not interview the duo for longest time. Finally it happened 🎉🎉..
Will be watching even if it’s 5 hours for legends conversation ❤
What could we ask more from BR? Lol what a combo bairn? BR MR and ARR😂 Unequivocally this is gonna be in my go-to list for sure, after BR's masterclass with Mysskin, PS1 MR BR interview!
What these two legends have given to Tamil Cinema is outstanding stuff...We all are so happy that these two always looked to raise the bar. Love you both 😊❤❤
How quick they forget Ilaiyaraaja's contribution in early Mani Ratnam movies.
The time when "genius" jumped off the cliff!
For the first time, never skipped even a sec in the 1hr + full video. Mani sir & ARR sir For Life 🛐❤🔥.
While seeing both Mani sir and A.R sir, i am going to my 90's where they caught my mind and soul in visual and music...
The interview we were waiting for!
Promotion - misspelt!
Legend cameo in BR's interview was not something I was expecting
Knowing the story and listening to Chinnanjiru (Marumurai), one gets the feeling of separation in Rahman's soundscape and rendition, which goes beyond separation of lovers as the lyric taken alone might convey. It's a whole world. Nice to hear Rahman talk about this at some point. It feels blessed to listen to such music. Well done BR MR AR ♥
Legend, Mani Ratnam and AR Raham. The crossover we never thought we would get
Lol what?!
I don’t see saravana anywhere. Get outta here troll !!

This is one for the ages. Thank you baddy sincerely for this. For me the brilliant part of the interview was how kannalane, uyire was born. No wonder these both are legends and should be respected for their craft :)
One word.....ultimate....still havent finished watching.....but could not ask for more....
This interview is a legit masterpiece. Mani and Rahman sir telling how Malayalam movies motivated them to innovate and elevate their craft ♥
Yes I like watching malayalam movie. Best in south India.
It's all promotion tactics bro

Would be a lifetime opportunity to listen to the scratches and the entire process of getting the final song. I really want to see how kannalanae came into place after this.
Proud of these 2 Legends we r very blessed to have in this cen❤tuary
42:16 at the risk of sounding insincere SIR EVERYTHING YOU DO IS SO BEAUTIFUL AND SO SPECIAL, and having the opportunity to replay a part of your tracks so so many times just to experience THAT ONE feeling we got at that particular listen, sir, it is nothing short of magic
Just loved every sec of the interview, being their fans over the years, just so much to learn from the geniuses...Looking forward to their future collaborations ❤❤❤
'Mani Rathnam - ARR' - One of the Best Combo of a Whole Generation of Cinema and will be remembered & celebrated for many generations to come !
Two legends, ARR Sir what a music PS movies supperb
The 2 most favorite music my child with autism likes is gazals and ARR’s music. Then comes Beatles, Queen, abba etc. Just loved listening to both of them about creating masterpieces!
His Strawberry Kannae song is the song which questioned everyone is this a Tamil song or an English song. He is sucha legend❤
From watching ARR in Surabhi with Renuka Sahaney to now it's such an amazing feeling
Had u seen his wonder baloon performance during early 80s in DD
@@gopinathbalakrishnan7390 oh no I didn't. I'll search for it now

Music on DD..I just waited for it.
Goat interview! This combo is the goat by a long way! People who talk about Anirudh etc. easily forget that making mass songs is lot easier. Rahman is an ocean in comparison!
Dil Se background score is BY FAR the best score from Rahman and gave me goosebumps thoughout the film
For me, it is Rangde Basanthi and then only Dilse
Thiruda thiruda , iruvar, bombay
Amazing interview. Always Happy to see 2 legends together
Don't forget BR he is also a doyen in his field.
I can watch Rahman talk all day. Thank you Baddy mama.
What a classical interview it was 😍
ManiRatnam-ARR for life 🙇❤️❤️
#MR #ARR #BR
Two icons who have shaped my life! Still think the duology should have been a trilogy to give mani the time and space to tell the story properly.
Awesome interview baddy. AR & MR with BR eye catchy. This one hour long interview ❤❤ 30 years their journey. Really GOATED interview from you BR. ❤❤
I wanted this in my heart for a long time. Baddy Mani and arr.... Wish this went on forever
Wow so much indepth details were shared! Fantastic interviewing by Baddy... getting the duo to talk. Loved this one.
I can watch this 2 talks all day 🤗 🖤
Thank you so much for the wonderful interview ✨😊 God bless✨😊🙏🏻
AR, MR AND BR.....TRIPLE R s...enjoying the convo....👌🏿
The accessibility that Mani Ratnam spoke about is what keeps A R Rahman's music still alive and consistent with his fans over the years. This is something the other directors fail to achieve because of which Rahman’s music doesn't warrant the repeat value that it used to at one point. Both of them are genius and there's no denial of the contribution to Indian Cinema.,
MR speech is so motivated and AR as usual so humble and grounded person ❤
bestest interview. wishes to BR for making the interview with beautiful questions.
Biggest take away from this interview is absence of ego, mutual respect and immense gratitude even after so much fame.
Thoughtful conversation sharing deep insights of the music creation process and AR - MR journey together in creating musical magic. Great minds at work - AR, BR and MR 🎹 ✍️ 🎥
Excellent interviews from both legends. All the best to PS2.
Wow, what a delightful interview. Thanks BR for asking such pertinent questions. Can't wait to see PS2 in a theatre. Hope there will be an interview with these maestros after PS2. It is very true that MR and ARR influence each other so positively.
Beautiful Beautiful stuff here Baddy! Feeling nostalgic as I grew listening to ARR.
Mani Ratnam is like a farmer, tilling and nurturing the ground for new seeds of creativity, while A R Rahman is like a woman, bringing to life the beauty and richness of that which has been sown.
SSR's genius is nothing in front of this people. he has a heart of gold and mettle of a gold jeweller.
@@dearth_knell 10 seconds bow and arrow training and amazingly arrows never getting over and one man holding a mammoth sculpture..hero climbing the water falls without any props and soo on...yes no one can imagine like SSR..
@@ajaybn3538 Exactly that is what i am saying. In Eega he brought a house fly to life, imagine what he could have done to even a mosquito. people think it silly, but see hollywood made ant man and beetle, why cant we think big
FUNNY! Mani Ratnam came to IR in 1982; wanted ONLY ILAYARAJA to compose for his first movie Pallavi Anupallavi in Kannada. The album is an EVERGREEN superhit whose songs are popular even today across various platforms. IR was MAGNANIMOUS enough to compose for just 20% of his remuneration when MR said he could not afford. His second movie UNARU was composed at FREE of cost by IR! The popularity, soul, layering, complexity, intricacy and variety of MR's first 10 movies' music (albums) with IR is GREATER than all the 15+ albums with Arr! When people think MR as a "great" director, it is because of Naayagan, Thalapathi and Anjali. His post-1991 movies are pure and expensive fluff, with high aesthetics: fair-skinned cast, stylish costumes, lavish sets, good cinematography, frame composition, and little-to-very little content. Roja happened because IR refused to compose for KB who messed Pudhu Pudhu Arthangal background score. After that, MR with a now-bloated ego and ungratefulness was not ready to go back to IR.
BR GOAT critic
MR GOAT director
AR GOAT musician

What a GOATED interview.

@@toyotachevroIet4972 how do you know he is Telugu ? And next why did you start abusing. Telugu people love ar rehman and also maniratnam.. we too grew up watching them. Don't try to insult telugus. This is gold!!!
GOD BLESS MR ARRAHMAN AND MR AMNO RATNAM,,KEEP ROCKING /////
Bharadwaj sir, do a full fledged interview with raja and deva sir..they’re such legends
Even you and Baradwaj Rangan are "legends"! LEAVE OUT IR in your verbal circus.
Finally someone figured out what to ask them and people of few words have spoken for an hour!!! Such an educative experience for a naive
Great interview. Happy to see this great combo come together again. Undoubtedly they have produced some great timeless pieces of Art.
Awesome conversation with two deep thinkers and icons of creativity from India .
Thank a lot for this interview of legends..Special thanks for it to be in English
Ar Rahman was giving for the international sound track create in Indian music , he is god of music ❤😎
Nobody said that! Besides, IR has given such REAL world class music as early as the 1980s!
Finest interview ever ❤
I had a great time watching this Interview :)
Absolute Masterclass.. 👏👏👏
Was so looking forward for this interview !! ❤
42:08 . absolutely true thalaiva. for every songs i share this notations to my friends. they all will see me like a crazy felllow coz i emphasize that much for every small tunes in the songs and every part of the songs. love you ARR
your instinct will give you old idea.
new ideas will come as accidentally. woww🤯
Awful.
This is where temple architecture comes into play along with literature, folklore songs or classical bhakti music apart from past film references for generating music in the present.
I have seen many interviews of ARR and only in few does he open up. In most of the interviews, you can sense he is holding back. BR is one such interviewer who creates that space and atmosphere, where even the shy ARR is outgoing and looks unpretensious
Best masterclass interview arm is an always best music song❤
Omg thy r genius n hardworking.. so good in their field.. great interview.. in depth.. love it❤❤❤❤
Very beautiful and informative interview… Great one 🙏🙏
Maniratnam is such a committed Director with courage to shoot during Corona period. 👏👏
I thoroughly njoyed ur combo.......but the music and bgm in movies like thalapathy, Nayagan, geethanjali still they are haunting mani sir. Many of us thought or dreamt like atleast once in a while that magic might get repeated, but not happened.
Eley its happening le😍😍
All three🤞
I think they are much more accomodative with other.
I don't say interview but in fact it was an awesome interaction such an honest n quick reply that itself represents there are genius. I read a few comments seriously and my eyes became wet 🥹. Now I understand people love them like i love ❤ them both... Thank you Mani Sir n thank you ARR Sir for sharing all your journey n experience from scratch. Am literally blank n don't know how to react after watching such an amazing conversation of you both. My wishes for your togetherness over 3 decades n pray to continue throughout with never ending.. still from my whole heart love you both 💕....
