Startsector is really cool and there are a LOT of mods to enhance it.
Actually the hardest part of the game is to make a modlist.
I actually made one after I recorded this video, it's basically based around Nexerlin so nothing too fancy
I've got a few hundred hours in the base game and I've never tried mods. Any recommended?

With regards to smuggling and trading in the early game, probably the simplest thing to do is just field a fleet of Mules, the pirate versions especially so. Being stealthy is also an option, but personally I just tear into port with my transponder on, dump a bunch of guns and drugs onto the black market, then gun the accelerator and head for the closest jump point at burn speed 18 as the closest patrol completely fails to reach me.
This is just one of those games where I could ramble non-stop about basically anything that's happening on screen at any given time. 's great.
Lmao I love the idea of some dude walking into a market square and just fire-sale-ing like 500 tons worth of extremely illegal, war-crime tier shit then sprinting out as quickly as possible as literally every cop on the planet is after him.

A huge game about space made by one of the most famous western developers gets released - people are mildly interested but immediately go back to indie space sims.

@@yaldabraxasI feel like this might be not just me, but the good reviews seem to be all from journalists while the mixed reviews come from users. I feel the same way as Simo, and it's cause of this exact reason; that, and I've seen some gameplay which confirmed it for me

Hey boss, if you had fun being a smuggler I'd HIGHLY recommend a game called Rebel Galaxy. Basically the same thing but a bit more up close and personal. Combat's a lot more fun too. My favorite build is playing cargo ships with mining lasers in all the turret spots. As far as the authorities know, I'm a miner. But if they start asking questions, well, mining lasers do some pretty good damage to shields...

Oh man, I had some great times in that game.
The Radovich was my go-to. Combat-wise, it wasn't so great, but man, it was the single best blockade runner in existence.
Tiny rear and fore profile, good array of turrets, and still a 'Very Fast' speed.
I ignored fights and simply sprinted by the defenses, delivering orders and making millions.
Top-tier smugglership. Stealth? Who needs it! Go fast, and nobody'll catch you!

One tip for you, though, and since you've watched Sseth's review, you should know about the joys of...
TRANSVERSE WARP.
It'll be rarely used, but being able to jump to Hyperspace any time (with a short charge time) will save you , even if you can burn Story Points.
From a smuggler who has more speed than sense, happy smuggling and remember, if you aren't smuggling drugs and heavy arms to pirates and terrorists in Starsector, you are missing out on a ton of fun.

I want to thank all the gods, past, present, above, below, sideways, and anything in between.
Eagle is pretty versatile. It can dish a lot of damage if paired with phase lance and some mauler. It can do support if paired with graviton beam and some hypervelocity driver.
You can't go wrong with it, unless if you get caught with full fledged faction armada (i.e, Hegemony fleet filled with Legion and Onslaught)

Fun fact: Every single delivery bar mission can be double dipped by buying whatever you delivered from the market for super low price.
The bigger the delivery, the cheaper you can buy it back for.

Their is like 10 mods you ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO USE to make this game better and you need to edit some game files.....to make this game litterally THE BEST GAME.
im quite late and i dont know if this is gonna help you but instead of going dark at once start be stopping to sustain burn it make your fleet more easily seen so even if you try to go dark if your in there sensor range before you do it they going to detect it and go investigate it and in early game you dont really need 600 cargo space if you wanna smuggle take like maybe 2 to 3 small ship whit good enough burn level so you can outrun anything that try to catch to you

You should have started as a pirate or you'll never join them. As for your own faction, you just need to find a good unpopulated planet, also do custom so you can pick your ship and you can get more officers along with credits. BTW 2 trillion is max before there's a chance of losing all your money.

I have to restart my game every hour or two due to my 150 ish mods, most of which are horribly outdated to the point where if you hover the hullmod to read about it your game will crash otherwise 10/5 would start a holy war against the ludds again

Casually making a million from smuggling without even have to fight one battle? Much skill, very wow.
But for real tho, this is a big problem for the game, smuggling, like stealing in Kenshi, is too easy to be abused by players, while other ways of making money legit in the early game like questing, bounty hunting, exploring... are either too risky, too much effort, or needed mods to work (miner). Just like irl I guess.
