@Michael Higgins anyone that knows arcades well enough has seen that free play arcades are garbage. Because they dont care about collecting coins so everything is set to the easiest difficulty. It's so aggravating
@Michael Higgins In my personal opinion, it's the coin inserting and wasting lots of money to master it, is what makes arcade games special. You will just treasure the minutes of gameplay more then unlimited lives.
That streetfighter intro at the 6 minute mark had me pumped up. I miss the days of putting a quarter on the cabinet screen as a form of “i’m next”. Thank you for this amazing video.
I live in Japan and I go very often to akihabara. I know lot of good place but this arcade center I never entered. Thank you I’ll go as fast as possible!
Loved the first person perspective of not only the arcade but also just general street views. Very good look into everyday life :) And the commercials were great bonuses!
Damn, you weren’t joking about this place, wish I’d known about it when my wife and I were in Tokyo last year (on our honeymoon!). We only found claw games and strange modern games which look like the stuff on floor 4 of Hey. Love 90’s shoot ‘em ups in particular.
I remember walking into this place. Every game you spent months mastering when your friend finally was bored playing it.... walking into this place... just a big firetruck water hose full of them.. It's just mind blowing.
Love your videos, particularly the video arcade ones! I'm coming for my 3rd visit to Japan this April and will be sure to visit this Taito HEY arcade. Thank you!
Just stumbled across.your channel and could not be more grateful I did. The style of the channel is excellent. Big fan of the exploration vids. Thanks for the posts.
Thanks KidShoryuken, love the videos and thanks for taking me back! Love that your videos show a lot of interest without being over the top, also love the Japanese adverts. Awesome!
I've been collecting arcade PCB board shooters for 12 years now, and some of the shooters seen in this video I can now play for free in the comfort of my dojo, Battle garegga, batsugun, progear etc. Retro will never die!
@gebbletook yes i know of the emulators but some games are NOT emulated correctly so i buy the PCB boards for those. win, win situation for me. thanks.
Great video! I can't believe almost all of those Egret 2 cabs using Egret 3 control panel. I've been looking for a 2-player Egret 3 panel for a while for my cab. Now I know they are all in this arcade, lol.
Great Video! I love HEY game center in Akihabara! When I visited Japan the first time I found my gaming Nirvana there. Haha. In Germany this kind of gaming culture died and was buried already a long time ago. The second floor of HEY is just amazing. You can play through the complete history of STGs. :D Best games in my opinion: Batsugun, Guwange, DDP Daioujou and Tatsujin Ou. HEY is equally good as Mikado game centre at Takadanobaba station. Similar games but less crowded and they have some pinball machines. I would appreciated it a lot, if you would make a video about this one too. :D I love Tokyo... miss it so much!
There was a racing game i used to play in the arcade in the mall by my school it was a japan drift race game where the chair you sat in moved as you drift and you actually had to down shift turns and all that good stuff long story short i never saw it again and i don't remember the name.
Love this video! I've been to Tokyo twice and stayed in Akihabara both times because that's where the best nerd stuff is. If you like retro game centers I highly recommend Natsuge Museum which is close to the Tokyo Metro Akihabara station (a few doors away from my favourite ramen shop, Menya Musashi Bujin). More videos like this, please!
Oh man this makes me so bittersweet about my local arcade closing, and even places like the laundromat getting rid of their cabinets. I’m just happy such a place exists.
Greetings from Indonesia🇮🇩, Souheast Asian. Dude seriously, thanks for this cool video. Geez I miss playing fighting games in an arcade here in the US. In my opinion, playing against people online has nothing on the arcade experience. Knowing how I am I'd be at that arcade almost everyday. lol
What's great about a lot of the newer machines is that if you don't have anyone to play against where you are, the games are connected to other arcades around the country so you can at least find someone to play with.
Cars are nice, though, but I wouldn't be able to drive them...oh well, I will let the wife and children (when they are old enough) deal with those headaches themselves, Ritz.
Am fully aware, but emulation is not always 99% accurate. I also enjoy the atmosphere of old arcades, the noises, sounds, smells. All of which you cannot achieve with emulation. (I am also aware you can just build your own arcade cabinet and run an emulation PC under it granted there's the issue with an arcade accurate screen.)@@100Bucks
@@RitzyBusiness It's find for me, got my own cabinet as well. The only game you can't fully emulate properly is Astroids. I know that because we have one at our job. Astroids was built with a special screen. When you emulate it on Mame it's plain. The real thing looks like star wars light sabers when you shoot. Every other game looks and sounds accurate to me. If the game is not accurate it means the computer doesn't have the required specs. Mortal Kombat 4 on Mame is another game I can't run properly. I'm on a Ryzen 7 1700 the first generation. It's still not enough for that old game. Issue with rom maybe or just specs.
@4:26 CITY HUNTER!!!! City Hunter UFO prizes!!!! I am an absolute FAN of City Hunter!!!!! Okay, I had to get that off my chest, this is Arcade Heaven!!! 7:47 Ah,Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax Ignition,my favorite anime game. It's have couple of my favorite characters from light novels and anime and i own it on my PS4.
l was very glad l found this arcade while visiting Japan. Most of the others had a ton of claw machines, those games that used cards, rythm games etc. whch l dont really care for. this one had all the classics, had a great time there, especially the fighting games floor
While I was really impressed by the second floor and all the Shmups, the third floor is where I'd spend all day every day! Your video takes me back to when arcades were a thing in the US, and people would line up to play the latest fighting game. "I got next!", **places quarter or token on game** LOL! Thanks for sharing, your videos are always great!
WOW. SO COOL, IT'S LIKE I WAS ALMOST THERE. WUD DEFO LUV TO SEE MORE OF THESE STYLE VIDS CHECKING OUT THE OTHER ARCADES. WISH SUMONE MADE VIDS LIKE THIS OF THE ARCADES IN THE WEST BEFORE THEY ALL CLOSED DOWN, FOR THE HISTORY RECORD & NOSTALGIA, OH WELL LOL. P.S. DIGGIN UR TASTE IN GAMES & MUSIC CHOICE & THOSE AD BREAKS WERE PURE COMEDY XD =)
The staff at these arcades are so nice. When I was at our honeymoon, I was trying to get this cat plush toy for my wife but I kept dropping it. The guy saw me trying so hard to get it, he moved the toy so it was dangling over the hole. I managed to get it after that. I was so happy I shook his hand and thanked him :)
oh my God, I went to Akihabara for at least 4 days and didn't know this place exists! I will def gonna go there again (planning my 3rd visit in 2020 or 2021) thanks for the video!
I wish Arcades were still around and plentiful in America. Or at least in my hometown. I am really impressed with this Arcade. Would love to go to Akihabara some day, but I'm sure I'll have to settle with going to Ground Kontrol in PDX some time I guess, which is fne, because that's also a dream of mine.
Whoa, never though this place exists, now if only I got the money to go to Japan once again. Would like to try playing Prichan someday in that 4th floor.
Yo! looking at all of those, i can tell thats def the best arcade! I cant believe i missed that while i was there! I was only a few doors down at Sega and didnt see that one! Next time ill be there for sure though! Thanks for the vid man. I saw some blaze blue/ guilty gear action and that sold me lol

Nearly cried as soon as I saw Akihabara again D': I miss that country so much. I'm not much of an arcade game kinda guy but I loved the UFO catchers there

Akihabara is literally heaven on earth. Oh how I wish I could go back.
For those asking, most normal single cab games cost around 100 yen a play. Claw machines and the big gundam machines can go from 300 yen plus
That streetfighter intro at the 6 minute mark had me pumped up. I miss the days of putting a quarter on the cabinet screen as a form of “i’m next”. Thank you for this amazing video.
The third floor seems like heaven almost teared up here at it's beauty.
Same bro!!!
Fr. not just the games but actual ppl to play with. Americans, FOR THE MOST PART, are so boring and only play new, trendy games.
@@unfuckinglovable thats why the angryvideogamenerd has so many viewers and so many retro Games playtgriughs...

Did you go? Was it fun?
Yes it was amazing there is a huge choice of shoot them up!
I love these videos. I'd like to see the variety of Arcades in different neighborhoods. The second floor of Taito HEY would keep me busy for hours...
I've got plenty of neighborhoods and plenty of arcades on the shooting schedule. :)
8:11 you took me back to 1994 with the STREET FIGHTER II MOVIE commercial for SSFII. That "Cry" song was awesome. Ah, the memories😊
Loved the first person perspective of not only the arcade but also just general street views. Very good look into everyday life :) And the commercials were great bonuses!
Spent the whole day here. Hands down my favourite. Old school
Another cracking vid Jim,love these roaming about ones.
So cool. My son is really into gaming and arcades. Just like i was/am... would love to make a trip and do this with him when hes old enough
How old is he?

I keep watching thos video over and over. Please make more just like this one! I love seeing all the arcades including the lesser known obscure ones
I remember walking into this place. Every game you spent months mastering when your friend finally was bored playing it.... walking into this place... just a big firetruck water hose full of them.. It's just mind blowing.
Ahhhh take me back to japan 😭💔
Love your videos, particularly the video arcade ones! I'm coming for my 3rd visit to Japan this April and will be sure to visit this Taito HEY arcade. Thank you!
totally agree, HEY is Akihabaras best arcade, when I have friends visit, this is the usual first stop in town.

Wow i love this video and the arcade is so nice big screen and all the retro games is still there.
I had been hoping I could find a youtube channel that visited arcades in japan like this. Keep up great work

arcarde cabinets are cool. it's not the same thing to play on an emulator
Hey Jim, love these video tours around Japan. Definitely my dream vacation.
So glad I found your channel. I plan on moving back to Japan in the next couple years, and watching your videos are really building the hype lol.
So cool to see all this. Great music selection as well!

Yes love it 👍 especially the fighting games section
almost every shmup ever made, driving games, fighting games AND BEMANI?! you weren't kidding!! I love these walk around videos from Japan!
Great Video! I love HEY game center in Akihabara! When I visited Japan the first time I found my gaming Nirvana there. Haha.

The only drift racing games I've ever played are Initial D and Midnight Tune.
D1GP also has an official arcade game but by far the best is Battle Gear 4 Tuned!
stayed here for ten days 10 months back. Explored every nook and cranny of the town
this was a dope video. when you said you can play the different variety games, if you want, but you choose fighting games i felt that lol.

A part of my died when they closed that place.

lord that's intense, I'd probably spend a majority of my time just deciding what to play...and then defaulting to SF lol..
Best to go on a busy night then, just play whatever is free.
If I ever became rich, screw fancy cars. I want a bunch of American and Japanese arcade cabinets @.@ All those variety of shmups, so delicious.
Cars are nice, though, but I wouldn't be able to drive them...oh well, I will let the wife and children (when they are old enough) deal with those headaches themselves, Ritz.
You don't need to be rich. Everything there can be emulated. Ryzen is dirt cheap.

The sound of an arcade the sound of an ecosystem, something never change
