I just made this tonight for my wife, who generally dislikes fresh sausage. She (and I) ate every bite that we were served. I'm kind of looking forward to Autumn so that I can make some of this on a cold day. Great recipe, as always!
You know..... Boiled dinner is going to be so expensive this year that I decided to make this exact recipe. Ill serve with some cabbage and a nice Irish soda bread and VOILA!!!! thanks, Laura!!
Nice 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 next time you make this you should try using Guinness Extra Stout for some additional flavor. You can do a comparison taste test and see if you want to use it for some other recipe in the future.
I would say you want to brown the meat first, do the onions and deglaze the pan but then don't see why not throw it all in the slow cooker. Though you may want to watch the quantity of liquid. Other than that it makes sense to do so 😁
@malwinaniechcial5252 wrong don't brown at all....a coddle is a white stew not a brown stew...no browning no frying...just slow cook in water leave potatoes until near ready to eat til their done...don't cut up the sausages or bacon if their sliced bacon...keep them whole.
That's not a traditional Dublin coddle.. I'm kinda upset you added garlic and Guinness. If you want a real recipe reply to me. 10 out of 10 for effort tho and happy St Patrick's day from Dublin

In Philly we Catholics have permission to eat meat on St. Patrick's day (Friday). This is a definite for dinner that day.
We were also given permission to eat meat this Friday but I still don't think it's right.. but that's just me..
I don’t think the Catholic Church has the moral rights to give you rules to follow…if you know what I mean 😅
Cheers from San Diego California
Hi fellow Catholic!! 👍☺️
@@JohnHausser it's not necessary to abstain from meat.. it's upto each one :)
@@meganrose7942 That's normally true but on Ash Wednesday and the 6 Fridays of Lent, the rule of "no meat" is still in effect.
😋🥰
I guess you can cook this on a slow cooker ???

Looks wonderful, but unfortunately.. it's Friday and Lent time..
You can still make it for st. Paddy’s weekend. This would be good for Sunday dinner
