to answer the xg question! they're actually a group that's been produced as a collaborative project under both avex and yg which is why they promote in both japan and s korea and you really can see the influence of both in their presentation and sound. they're also meant to be an international girl group which is probably why all of their songs thus far have been in english. really interesting concept and one of my favorite groups that have debuted recently.

XG actually isnt a kpop group! theyre a global pop group that trained in korea, which is why all of theit songs are in english! :] a lot of ppl get confused over this, which is completely understandable esp when u add in their company bein based in japan/japanese lol. helped this help sumwhat ♡

I found PAiDA from TikTok so i dont think it was a mistake!! This introduced me to overseas idols and I definitely needed this. I always wanted to see more non asian artist in kpop but i didnt know jpop was that inclusive! This also has me wondering if theres an underground idol community for kpop as well
Japan idol culture and Korean term idol are very different though. Anyone who's hugely famous like BTS, blackpink, TWICE, etc. Are considered idols in Korea. Therefore there's no "underground" idol scene in Korea. There's indie artists though. And idols from smaller companies, but still need to have extensive financial backing and a lot of training.

oh, as a kpop fan I definitely understand the call and response discussion! artists have special fanchants for songs that fans sing/chant while they're on stage and it's so cute! but when they do shows in the US, fans here don't really do that... I still do lol
I always find it really interesting when folks online try to attack others under the guise of "you're part of x culture, you can't do that!/they'll laugh you out of there", but people from said culture are much more openly responsive and supportive. Like they don't really care about listening to people from the culture they're supposedly defending....REALLLLY interesting 🤔 I'm glad PAIDA had such a great time performing in Japan
